⁸ For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Whether then we live or die, we are the Lords.

¹⁹ This he said, signifying by what manner of death he was to glorify God. And having thus spoken, he saith to him, Follow me.

³⁶ For David, after having in his own generation served the will of God, fell asleep, and was added to his fathers, and saw corruption;

²⁴ But I count life of no value to me, so that I may finish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.

¹³ Then answered Paul, What mean ye that ye weep, and break my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

²² whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come,all are yours; ²³ and ye are Christs, and Christ is Gods.

²³ But every one in his own order; Christ the firstfruits, afterward they that are Christs, at his coming.

²⁰ according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be put to shame, but that with all boldness, as always, so also now, Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.

¹⁷ But if I am even poured out on the sacrifice and ministration of your faith, I rejoice, and rejoice with you all.

³⁰ because he was near to death on account of the work, hazarding his life to supply what was wanting on your part in the ministration to me.

¹⁴ For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, then also will God, through Jesus, bring again with him those who have fallen asleep. ¹⁵ For this we say to you in the word of the Lord, that we who are living, we who are left till the coming of the Lord, shall not anticipate those who have fallen asleep. ¹⁶ For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a loud summons, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first; ¹⁷ then we who are living, we who are left, shall be caught up together with them in clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we be ever with the Lord. ¹⁸ So then comfort one another with these words.

¹⁰ who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should together live with him.

¹³ And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, Write, Blessed are the dead, who die in the Lord from henceforth. Yea, saith the Spirit, that they shall rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.
