¹⁷ And now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your rulers.

³⁴ Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they do. And they divided his clothing by casting lots.

²⁶ But, lo, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Do the rulers really know that this is the Christ? ²⁷ Yet we know where this man is from: but when the Christ comes, no man will know where he is from.

⁵² They answered and said to him, Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see: no prophet arises out of Galilee.

³ And these things they will do to you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

⁴⁰ Saying to Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: as for this Moses, who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.

²⁷ For those who live in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the words of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, have fulfilled these by condemning him.

⁹ I truly thought to myself, that I ought to do many things to oppose to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

² God has not cast away his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the scripture says of Elijah? how he appealed to God against Israel, saying,

⁸ Wisdom which none of the rulers of this world understood: for had they understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

¹⁴ But their minds were hardened: for to this day the same veil remains unlifted at the reading of the old covenant; because it is only removed through Christ.

²² But if I live in the flesh, that means fruitful labour for me: yet what I shall choose I do not know.

¹³ Though I was formerly a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and a violent man: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
