¹⁴ That we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the cunning of men, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming.

⁷ And as they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

³ And said, Truly I say to you, Unless you are converted, and become like little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Therefore, whoever shall humble himself as this little child, he is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

¹¹ And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

²⁴ For false Christs shall arise, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so as to deceive, if it were possible, even the very elect.

³⁰ And from among your own selves men shall arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. ³¹ Therefore watch, and remember, that for three years I did not cease to warn every one night and day with tears.

²¹ But do not yield to them: for there lie in wait for him more than forty men, who have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink until they have killed him: and now they are ready, waiting for a promise from you.

¹⁷ Now I urge you, brethren, take note of those who cause divisions and difficulties, contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them. ¹⁸ For they do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own bellies; and by smooth words and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the simple.

¹ And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of the flesh, as babes in Christ. ² I have fed you with milk, and not with solid food: for until now you were not able to bear it, nor are you yet able.

² You know that when you were pagans, you were carried away by these dumb idols, however you were led.

²⁰ Brethren, do not be children in understanding: in evil be infants, but in understanding be men.

¹⁷ For we are not as so many, who peddle the word of God: but as men of sincerity, as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.

² But we have renounced the hidden, shameful things, and do not walk in craftiness, nor handle the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

³ But I fear, lest, as the serpent deceived Eve through his cunning, so your minds will be led astray from the simplicity that is in Christ. ⁴ For if one comes and preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if you receive another spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you bear with him well enough.

¹³ For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no wonder; for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. ¹⁵ Therefore it is no surprise if his servants are also disguised as servants of righteousness; their end shall be according to their works.

⁶ I marvel that you are so quickly deserting him who called you by the grace of Christ, for another gospel: ⁷ Which is not truly another; but there are some who trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

¹ O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been publicly portrayed as crucified?

¹¹ Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

⁴ And this I say, lest any man should deceive you with enticing words. ⁵ For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, rejoicing and beholding your good order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. ⁶ Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him: ⁷ Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, and abounding with thanksgiving. ⁸ Beware, lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, which depend on the traditions of men and the rudiments of the world, and not on Christ.

² That you not be quickly shaken in mind, or alarmed, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter purporting to be from us, saying that the day of Christ is at hand. ³ Let no man deceive you in any way: for that day shall not come, until there is first a falling away, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of perdition; ⁴ Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. ⁵ Do you not remember, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

⁹ The coming of the lawless one is through the working of Satan, with all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰ And with all wicked deception for those who perish; because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

⁶ Not a recent convert, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

⁶ If you point out all these things to the brethren, you shall be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished by the words of faith and of good doctrine, which you have been following. ⁷ But have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales, but rather train yourself in godliness;

¹⁵ This you know, that all those who are in Asia have turned away from me; among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

¹⁷ And their word will spread like gangrene. Among these are Hymenaeus and Philetus; ¹⁸ Who have strayed from the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and thus upset the faith of some.

⁶ For among them are those who creep into houses, and lead captive weak-willed women laden with sins, led away by various desires, ⁷ Ever learning, but never able to acknowledge the truth. ⁸ Now as Jannes and Jambres defied Moses, so these men also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, rejected as concerns the faith. ⁹ But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be made clear to all, as was that of those two.

¹³ But evil men and impostors shall grow worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but having itching ears, they shall gather up teachers for themselves to suit their own desires;

¹² For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need for someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God. You have come to need milk, and not solid food. ¹³ For everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. ¹⁴ But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, those who by practice have their senses trained to discern both good and evil.

⁹ Do not be carried away by varied and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing for the heart to be established by grace, not by foods, which have not benefitted those who have been occupied with them.

⁶ But let him ask in faith, without wavering. For he who wavers is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed.

⁴ Behold also the ships, which, though they are so great and are driven by such fierce winds, yet they are guided by a very small rudder, wherever the pilot directs.

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who secretly shall bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many shall follow their licentious ways; and because of them the way of truth shall be maligned. ³ And in greed they shall exploit you with false words: the judgment against them from of old does not linger, and their condemnation does not slumber.

¹⁸ For they speak great swelling words of vanity, and allure through the lusts of the flesh, through sensuality, those who are just escaping from the ones who live in error. ¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us: but they went out, that it might be made clear that none of them were of us.

²⁶ These things I have written to you concerning those who would deceive you.

¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

¹² These men are blemishes at your feasts of love, when they eat with you without fear: clouds without water, carried about by the winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

¹¹ And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke like a dragon. ¹² And he exercises all the power of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who live in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. ¹³ And he performs great wonders, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven to the earth in the sight of men, ¹⁴ And deceives those who live on the earth by the miracles which he had the power to do in the sight of the beast; bidding those who live on the earth to make an image in honour of the beast, who was wounded by the sword, and yet lived.

²⁰ And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed miraculous signs in his presence, with which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast, and those who worshipped his image. They were both cast alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulphur.
