Luke 16 Cross References - RKJNT

1 And he also said to his disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward, and charges were brought to him that the steward was wasting his goods. 2 And he called him, and said to him, What is this that I hear of you? give an account of your stewardship; for you may no longer be steward. 3 Then the steward said to himself, What shall I do? for my lord is taking away my stewardship: I am not strong enough to dig; and I am ashamed to beg. 4 I know what to do, so that when I am put out of the stewardship, people will receive me into their houses. 5 So he called in every one of his lord's debtors, and said to the first, How much do you owe to my lord? 6 And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said to him, Take your bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. 7 Then he said to another, And how much do you owe? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. And he said to him, Take your bill, and write eighty. 8 And the lord commended the dishonest steward, because he had acted shrewdly: for the children of this world are more shrewd in dealing with own kind than are the children of light. 9 And I say to you, Make friends for yourselves using worldly wealth; that, when it fails, they may receive you into the eternal habitations. 10 He who is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he who is dishonest in the least is also dishonest in much. 11 Therefore, if you have not been faithful with worldly wealth, who will entrust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful with that which is another man's, who shall give you possessions of your own? 13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. 14 The Pharisees, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. 15 And he said to them, You justify yourselves before men; but God knows your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God. 16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man forces his way into it. 17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one dot of the law to fail. 18 Whoever divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery: and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery. 19 There was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and feasted sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, covered with sores, 21 And he longed to eat the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in Hades he lift up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried out, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus received evil things: but now he is comforted, and you are tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you a great gulf has been fixed: so that those who would pass from here to you cannot; nor can any pass over from there to us. 27 He said, Then I beg you, father, that you would send him to my father's house: 28 For I have five brothers. Have him warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, No, father Abraham: but if someone went to them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said to him, If they will not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.

You knew that I was a severe man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow: 23 Why then did you not put my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest? 24 And he said to those who stood by, Take from him the mina, and give it to him who has ten minas. 25 And they said to him, Lord, he already has ten minas. 26 I say to you, To everyone who has shall more be given; and from him who has not, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

John 5:39-47

39 You search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and it is they that testify of me. 40 Yet you will not come to me, that you might have life. 41 I do not receive honour from men. 42 But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you. 43 I have come in my Father's name, and you do not receive me: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive. 44 How can you believe, when you receive honour from one another, and do not seek the honour that comes from him who alone is God? 45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one who accuses you, Moses, in whom you trust. 46 For had you believed Moses, you would have believed me: for he wrote of me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how shall you believe my words?

Jesus said to them, If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.

John 8:53-56

53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are also dead: whom do you make yourself out to be? 54 Jesus answered, If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing: it is my Father who glorifies me; of whom you say, that he is your God: 55 Yet you have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I do not know him, I would be a liar like you: but I do know him, and keep his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

Jesus said to them, Unbind him, and let him go. 45 Then many of the Jews who came with Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed in him. 46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees, and told them the things Jesus had done. 47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, What should we do? for this man performs many miraculous signs . 48 If we let him go on like this, all men will believe in him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and our nation.

John 11:48-53

48 If we let him go on like this, all men will believe in him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and our nation. 49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, who was the high priest that year, said to them, You know nothing at all, 50 Nor do you consider that it is expedient for you, that one man should die for the people, so that the whole nation should not perish. 51 And this he did not speak of his own accord: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation; 52 And not for that nation only, but also that he should gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. 53 Then from that day forth they planned together how to put him to death.

Romans 6:16-22

16 Do you not know that if you yield yourselves as slaves to obey someone, you are slaves of the one you obey; whether of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God, that you who were once the slaves of sin, have obeyed from the heart that standard of teaching which was entrusted to you. 18 Being then set free from sin, you became the slaves of righteousness. 19 I speak after the manner of men, because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as you have yielded your members as slaves to uncleanness and to ever increasing iniquity; so now yield your members as slaves to righteousness, leading to holiness. 20 For when you were the slaves of sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 But what benefit did you get from those things of which you are now ashamed? for the result of those things is death. 22 But now, having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you gain the benefit that leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

But what we are is plain to God; and I also trust it is plain to your consciences.
