¹ And he looked up, and saw the rich people putting their gifts into the treasury. ² And he also saw a certain poor widow putting in two small copper coins. ³ And he said, Truly I say to you, that this poor widow has put in more than all of them: ⁴ For all these have given offerings to God out of their abundance: but she in her poverty has put in all she had to live on. ⁵ And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts, he said, ⁶ As for these things which you behold, the days will come, in which there shall not be one stone left upon another; every one of them shall be thrown down. ⁷ And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when shall these things happen? and what sign will there be that these things are about to take place? ⁸ And he said, Take heed that you are not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and, the time draws near: do not go after them. ⁹ And when you hear of wars and disturbances, do not be terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end does not follow immediately. ¹⁰ Then said he to them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: ¹¹ And there shall be great earthquakes in various places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs from heaven. ¹² But before all this, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, and you shall be brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. ¹³ And it shall be a time for you to bear testimony. ¹⁴ Therefore, settle it in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how you shall answer: ¹⁵ For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to resist or refute. ¹⁶ And you shall be betrayed both by parents, and brothers, and relatives, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. ¹⁷ And you shall be hated by all for my name's sake. ¹⁸ But not a hair of your head shall perish. ¹⁹ By your perseverance you shall win your souls. ²⁰ And when you shall see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. ²¹ Then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let those who are inside the city depart; and let not those who are in the country enter into it. ²² For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. ²³ But woe to those who are with child, and to those who nurse infants, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. ²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. ²⁵ And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth nations shall be distressed and perplexed by the roaring waves of the sea; ²⁶ Men's hearts failing them for fear and foreboding of those things which are coming upon the earth: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. ²⁷ And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. ²⁸ And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near. ²⁹ And he told them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; ³⁰ When they shoot forth leaves, you see and know for yourselves that summer is at hand. ³¹ So likewise, when you see these things come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is at hand. ³² Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass away, until all is fulfilled. ³³ Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. ³⁴ And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be weighed down with dissipation, and drunkenness, and the cares of this life, so that day comes upon you unexpectedly like a snare. ³⁵ For as a snare shall it come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. ³⁶ Watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be strong and accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. ³⁷ Now in the daytime he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and stayed on the mount that is called Olivet. ³⁸ And all the people came to the temple early in the morning to hear him.

⁶ And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

¹¹ But you say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, whatever I have that might benefit you is Corban, that is to say, a gift to God, ¹² Then you do not allow him to do anything for his father or his mother; ¹³ Thus making the word of God invalid through your tradition, which you have handed down: and you do many such things.

⁴¹ And Jesus sat across from the treasury, and watched how the people put money into the treasury: and many who were rich cast in much. ⁴² And a certain poor widow came, and she put in two small copper coins, which make a farthing. ⁴³ And he called his disciples to him, and said to them, Truly I say to you, That this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others: ⁴⁴ For all the others gave out of their abundance; but she gave out of her poverty, putting in everything she had, all she had to live on.

²⁰ These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour had not yet come.

⁴² And a certain poor widow came, and she put in two small copper coins, which make a farthing.

⁸ She has done what she could: she has come beforehand to anoint my body for burial. ⁹ Truly I say to you, Wherever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, what she has done shall be spoken of in remembrance of her.

²⁵ But I tell you a truth, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when there was great famine throughout all the land;

²⁷ But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.

⁴⁴ Truly I say to you, that he will make him ruler over all that he has.

²⁷ For truly in this city, against your holy servant Jesus, whom you have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

³⁴ Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Truly I perceive that God shows no partiality:

² For during a great test of affliction, the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty overflowed in a wealth of liberality. ³ For I bear witness that they gave according to their ability, yea, and beyond their ability, and of their own accord;

¹² For if there is first a willing mind, it is acceptable, according to what a man has, and not according to that he does not have.

⁶ Now this I say, He who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. ⁷ Every man must do as he has decided in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion: for God loves a cheerful giver.

⁴³ And a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone,

¹² And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me my part of the estate. So he divided his property between them.

⁴⁴ And all who believed were together, and had all things in common; ⁴⁵ And they sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all men, as every man had need.

³⁴ Nor were any among them lacking: for as many as owned land or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,

¹ And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple. ² And Jesus said to them, Do you not see all these things? truly I say to you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. ³ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us when these things shall be? and what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age? ⁴ And Jesus answered them, Take heed that no man deceive you. ⁵ For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and shall deceive many. ⁶ And you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that you are not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. ⁷ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and earthquakes, in various places. ⁸ All these are the beginning of birth pains. ⁹ Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many fall away, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. ¹¹ And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. ¹² And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold. ¹³ But he who endures to the end shall be saved. ¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations; and then the end shall come. ¹⁵ Therefore, when you shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, (whoever reads, let him understand:) ¹⁶ Then let those who are in Judaea flee into the mountains: ¹⁷ Let him who is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house: ¹⁸ Neither let him who is in the field turn back to take his cloak. ¹⁹ And woe to those who are with child, and to those who nurse in those days! ²⁰ Pray that your flight may not be in the winter or on the sabbath day: ²¹ For then there shall be great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. ²² And unless those days had been cut short, no flesh would be saved: but for the sake of the elect those days shall be cut short. ²³ Then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is the Christ, or there; do not believe it. ²⁴ For false Christs shall arise, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so as to deceive, if it were possible, even the very elect. ²⁵ Behold, I have told you beforehand. ²⁶ Therefore if they shall say to you, Behold, he is in the desert; do not go forth: behold, he is in the inner rooms; do not believe it. ²⁷ For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. ²⁸ For wherever the body is, there will the vultures be gathered together. ²⁹ Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: ³⁰ And then the sign of the Son of man shall appear in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. ³¹ And he shall send out his angels with a great call of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. ³² Now learn this parable from the fig tree; When its branch becomes tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near: ³³ So likewise, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. ³⁴ Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass away, until all these things are fulfilled. ³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. ³⁶ But of that day and hour no man knows, no, not the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but my Father only. ³⁷ But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. ³⁸ For as in the days that were before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, ³⁹ And they did not know until the flood came and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of man be. ⁴⁰ Then shall two be in the field; one shall be taken, and the other left. ⁴¹ Two women shall be grinding at the mill; one shall be taken, and the other left. ⁴² Therefore watch: for you do not know on what day your Lord will come. ⁴³ But know this, that if the owner of the house had known at what time the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. ⁴⁴ Therefore you must also be ready: for the Son of man will come at an hour you do not expect. ⁴⁵ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? ⁴⁶ Blessed is that servant, whom his lord shall find so doing when he comes. ⁴⁷ Truly I say to you, That he shall put him in charge of all his goods. ⁴⁸ But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming; ⁴⁹ And shall begin to strike his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; ⁵⁰ The lord of that servant shall come on a day when he does not expect him, and at a hour that he is not aware of, ⁵¹ And shall cut him apart, and assign him a place with the hypocrites: where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

²⁰ Then the Jews said, It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?

² And Jesus said to them, Do you not see all these things? truly I say to you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

⁴⁴ And shall level you to the ground, and your children within you; and they shall not leave in you one stone upon another; because you did not know the time of your visitation. ⁴⁵ And he went into the temple, and began to cast out those who were selling; ⁴⁶ Saying to them, It is written, My house shall be a house of prayer: but you have made it a den of thieves. ⁴⁷ And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the leaders of the people sought to destroy him, ⁴⁸ But could not find what they might do: for all the people hung upon his words.

¹³ And they set up false witnesses, who said, This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: ¹⁴ For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered to us.

³ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us when these things shall be? and what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age?

⁶ When they had come together, they asked him, saying, Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? ⁷ And he said to them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has fixed by his own authority.

² And saying, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

¹⁷ From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

³⁶ For before these days Theudas rose up, who boasted of being somebody; and a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves to him. He was slain; and all those who followed him were scattered, and brought to nothing. ³⁷ After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the census, and drew away many people after him: he also perished; and all those who followed him were dispersed.

⁹ But there was a certain man, named Simon, who formerly practiced sorcery in the city, and amazed the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great: ¹⁰ And they all gave heed to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

¹³ For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no wonder; for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. ¹⁵ Therefore it is no surprise if his servants are also disguised as servants of righteousness; their end shall be according to their works.

⁶ Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

³ Let no man deceive you in any way: for that day shall not come, until there is first a falling away, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of perdition;

⁹ The coming of the lawless one is through the working of Satan, with all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰ And with all wicked deception for those who perish; because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this reason God shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

¹³ But evil men and impostors shall grow worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

⁷ For many deceivers have gone out into the world, who do not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. Such a one is a deceiver and an antichrist.

³ Blessed is he who reads, and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and heed those things which are written in it: for the time is at hand.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast down, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world: he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

²⁷ And the words, Yet once more, signify the removal of those things which can be shaken, of created things, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

² And I saw, and behold, a white horse: and he who sat upon it had a bow; and a crown was given to him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. ³ And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, Come. ⁴ And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him who sat upon it to take peace from the earth, that men should slay one another: and there was given to him a great sword. ⁵ And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, Come. And I beheld, and lo, a black horse; and he who sat upon it had a pair of scales in his hand. ⁶ And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not hurt the oil and the wine. ⁷ And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, Come. ⁸ And I looked, and behold, a pale horse: and the name of him who sat upon it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with plague, and with the wild beasts of the earth. ⁹ And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they maintained: ¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, must it be before you judge those who live on the earth, and avenge our blood? ¹¹ And white robes were given to every one of them; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet for a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, should be completed. ¹² And I beheld, and, lo, when he had opened the sixth seal, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: therefore be as wise as serpents, and as harmless as doves. ¹⁷ But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; ¹⁸ And you shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, do not be anxious about how or what you shall speak: for it shall be given to you in that hour what you shall speak. ²⁰ For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. ²¹ And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. ²² And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake: but he who endures to the end shall be saved. ²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee into another: for truly I say to you, You shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, before the Son of man comes. ²⁴ The disciple is not above his teacher, nor the servant above his master. ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he is like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household?

⁶ And the rest took his servants, and treated them spitefully, and killed them.

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berachiah, whom you killed between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

⁹ Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many fall away, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

⁹ But take heed for yourselves: for they will deliver you up to councils; and you shall be beaten in the synagogues: and you shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them. ¹⁰ And the gospel must first be preached among all nations. ¹¹ But when they bring you to trial, do not worry about what you shall say: but whatever is given to you in that hour, speak that: for it is not you who speaks, but the Holy Spirit. ¹² Now brother will betray brother to death, and a father his son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. ¹³ And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake: but he who endures to the end shall be saved.

⁴⁹ For this reason also the wisdom of God said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall kill and persecute, ⁵⁰ That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; ⁵¹ From the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the temple: truly I say to you, It shall be required of this generation.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time comes when whoever kills you will think that he is serving God. ³ And these things they will do to you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

³ And they laid hands on them, and put them in prison until the next day: for it was already evening. ⁴ Yet many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand. ⁵ And it came to pass on the next day, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes, ⁶ And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and Jonathan, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. ⁷ And when they had set them in their midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have you done this?

¹⁷ Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him, (that is, the party of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation, ¹⁸ And laid hands on the apostles, and put them in the public jail. ¹⁹ But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

⁴⁰ And they agreed with him: and when they had called in the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

¹² And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, ¹³ And they set up false witnesses, who said, This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: ¹⁴ For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered to us. ¹⁵ And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

⁵⁷ Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, ⁵⁸ And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. ⁵⁹ And as they stoned Stephen he called upon God, saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. ⁶⁰ And he knelt down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, do not hold this sin against them. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

³ As for Saul, he ravaged the church, entering into every house, and dragging off men and women and committing them to prison.

⁴ And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?

¹ Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to mistreat some who belonged to the church. ² And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. ³ And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. (This was during the days of unleavened bread.) ⁴ And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of four soldiers to keep him; intending after passover to bring him forth to the people.

²² And the multitude also rose up against them: and the magistrates tore the clothes off of them, and commanded that they be beaten with rods. ²³ And when they had struck them with many blows, they cast them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them securely: ²⁴ And he, having received this charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. ²⁵ And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises to God: and the prisoners heard them. ²⁶ And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's chains were unfastened.

³⁰ And all the city was aroused, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and dragged him out of the temple: and immediately the doors were shut. ³¹ And as they tried to kill him, word came to the commander of the Roman garrison, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

³⁰ On the next day, because he wanted to know exactly why he was accused by the Jews, he loosed him from his bonds, and commanded the chief priests and all the council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.

¹ And after five days Ananias the high priest came down with some of the elders, and with a certain lawyer named Tertullus, who informed the governor of their charges against Paul. ² And when he was called, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that because of you we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy reforms are done for this nation by your provision, ³ We accept this always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness. ⁴ But, that I may not be further tedious to you, I ask that by your clemency you would hear a few words from us. ⁵ For we have found this man to be a pestilent fellow, and a agitator among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes. ⁶ He has also tried to profane the temple: but we seized him, [and would have judged him according to our law. ⁷ But Lysias the commander came upon us, and with great violence took him out of our hands, ⁸ Commanding his accusers to come to you.] By examining him yourself you will be able to learn the truth of all these things of which we accuse him. ⁹ And the Jews agreed with the accusation, saying that these things were so.

¹ Now three days after Festus had come into the province, he went up from Caesarea to Jerusalem. ² Then the high priest and the chief men of the Jews brought to him charges against Paul, and begged him,

¹¹ If I am an offender, or have committed anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die: but if there is no truth to the things of which these men accuse me, no man may deliver me to them. I appeal to Caesar. ¹² Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, You have appealed to Caesar; to Caesar you shall go.

²² Then Agrippa said to Festus, I would like hear the man myself. Tomorrow, he said, you shall hear him. ²³ So on the next day, Agrippa and Bernice came, with great pomp, and entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city. At Festus' command, Paul was brought forth. ²⁴ And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men who are present with us, you see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have petitioned me, both in Jerusalem, and also here, crying out that he ought no longer to live. ²⁵ But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he has appealed to the emperor, I have determined to send him.

² I consider myself fortunate, king Agrippa, because I shall make my defence this day before you regarding all the things of which I am accused by the Jews: ³ Especially because I know you to be an expert in all customs and controversies of the Jews: therefore I beg you to hear me patiently. ⁴ The manner of my life from my youth, which was at first spent among my own nation and in Jerusalem, is known by all the Jews. ⁵ They have known me for a long time, and, if they are willing to testify to it, that I lived as a Pharisee, according to the most strict sect of our religion. ⁶ And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers: ⁷ The promise which our twelve tribes, earnestly serving God day and night, hope to attain. For the sake of this hope, king Agrippa, I am accused by the Jews. ⁸ Why should it be thought incredible to any of you, that God should raise the dead? ⁹ I truly thought to myself, that I ought to do many things to oppose to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. ¹⁰ And this I did in Jerusalem: and I had many of the saints shut up in prison, by authority of the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them. ¹¹ And I punished them often in every synagogue, and tried to force them to blaspheme; and being furiously enraged against them, I persecuted them even in foreign cities.

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us. They do not please God, and oppose all men, ¹⁶ By hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved, thus always filling up their sins to the limit: but wrath has come upon them at last.

¹³ Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme authority;

¹² Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial which comes upon you to test you, as though some strange thing was happened to you: ¹³ But rejoice, insofar as you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may be triumphantly joyful. ¹⁴ Blessed are you if you are insulted for the name of Christ; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

¹⁰ Do not fear any of those things which you shall suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that you may be tested; and you shall have tribulation ten days: be faithful to death, and I will give you the crown of life.

¹² But I would have you understand, brethren, that the things which happened to me have really served to advance the gospel;

²⁸ And in no way terrified by your adversaries: which is to them a sign of their destruction, but to you of your salvation, and that from God.

³ That no man should be disturbed by these afflictions: for you yourselves know that we are destined for this. ⁴ For truly, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we should suffer tribulation; just as it came to pass, as you know.

⁵ Which is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you suffer.

¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, do not be anxious about how or what you shall speak: for it shall be given to you in that hour what you shall speak. ²⁰ For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the scriptures,

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, You rulers of the people, and elders, ⁹ If we are to be examined this day about a good deed done to a cripple, by what means he was made well; ¹⁰ Then let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him does this man stand here before you well. ¹¹ This is the stone which was rejected by you builders, but which has become the very cornerstone. ¹² And there is salvation in no one else: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved. ¹³ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

³¹ And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. ³² And the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and of one soul: and no one said that any of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things in common. ³³ And with great power the apostles gave witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

¹⁰ But they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spoke.

²⁵ And as he reasoned with them about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was frightened, and answered, Go your way for now; when I have a convenient opportunity, I will call for you.

²⁸ Then Agrippa said to Paul, In such a short time do you think you can persuade me to become a Christian?

¹⁹ And for me, that words may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

³ And pray also for us, that God would open for us a door for the word, that we may speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in prison: ⁴ That I may make it clear, as I should.

¹⁶ At my first defence no man stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be counted against them. ¹⁷ But the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me, that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

⁵ If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally, and without reproach; and it shall be given him.

²¹ And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

¹³ I know where you dwell, where Satan's throne is: and that you hold fast to my name, and have not denied my faith, even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was slain among you, where Satan dwells.

⁹ And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they maintained:

¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they did not love their lives to death.

¹¹ Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

²² And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake: but he who endures to the end shall be saved.

⁹ Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name's sake.

²² Blessed are you, when men hate you, and when they exclude you, and insult you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

⁷ The world cannot hate you; but me it hates, because I testify of it, that its works are evil.

¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, because I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

²¹ But all these things they will do to you for my name's sake, because they do not know him who sent me.

¹⁴ I have given them your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¹⁶ I will show him how much he must suffer for my name's sake.

⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord; and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.

¹¹ For we who live are always being delivered over to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus might also be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

¹⁰ Therefore, for Christ's sake, I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in distresses: for when I am weak, then I am strong.

²⁹ For to you it is granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for his sake;

¹⁴ Blessed are you if you are insulted for the name of Christ; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

³ And how you have persevered, and have endured for my name's sake, and have not grown weary.

³⁰ But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

⁷ But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore do not fear: you are of more value than many sparrows.

³⁴ Therefore I urge you to take food; this is for your strength. Not a hair shall perish from the head of any of you.

¹³ But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

¹⁵ But the seed on the good ground are those, who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

⁷ To those who by patience in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

³ And not only this, but we also rejoice in tribulations: knowing that tribulation works perseverance;

²⁵ But if we hope for what we do not see, then we wait for it with patience.

⁴ For whatever things were written in the past were written for our instruction, that through endurance and the encouragement of the scriptures, we might have hope.

³ Always remembering your work of faith, and labour of love, and endurance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of our God and Father;

⁵ May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the steadfastness of Christ.

¹¹ And we desire that every one of you show the same diligence in realizing the full assurance of hope until the end:

¹⁵ And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

³⁶ For you have need of endurance, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise.

³ Knowing that the trying of your faith produces endurance.

⁷ Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and is patient for it, until it receives the early and the late rains. ⁸ You also be patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws near. ⁹ Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door. ¹⁰ My brethren, take the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering, and of patience. ¹¹ Behold, we count as happy those who endured. You have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the outcome the Lord brought about; that the Lord is full of compassion, and of tender mercy.

⁹ I, John, your brother and companion in the tribulation, and kingdom, and endurance which are ours in Jesus, was on the island that is called Patmos, because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

² I know your works, and your labour, and your patience, and how you cannot bear those who are evil, and how you have tested those who say they are apostles, and are not, and have found them to be liars; ³ And how you have persevered, and have endured for my name's sake, and have not grown weary.

¹⁰ Because you have kept my word to patiently endure, I will keep you from the hour of trial, which shall come upon all the world, to test those who live upon the earth.

¹⁰ He who is to go into captivity shall go into captivity: he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

¹² Here is the endurance of the saints, who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

¹⁵ Therefore, when you shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, (whoever reads, let him understand:)

⁴³ For the days shall come upon you, when your enemies shall build an embankment about you, and surround you, and keep you in on every side,

⁷ And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when shall these things happen? and what sign will there be that these things are about to take place?

¹⁶ Then let those who are in Judaea flee into the mountains:

¹⁵ And let him who is on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter it to take anything out of his house:

³¹ On that day, let him who is upon the housetop, and his goods in the house, not come down to take them away: and likewise let not him who is in the field turn back. ³² Remember Lot's wife. ³³ Whoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

⁴ And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that you may not be partakers of her sins, and that you may not receive her plagues.

²² Now all this was done to fulfill that which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

¹⁹ For in those days there shall be affliction, such as has not been from the beginning of God's creation to this time, nor ever shall be again. ²⁰ And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no one would be saved: but for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened the days.

⁵ But because of your hard and unrepentant heart you are storing up for yourself wrath on the day of wrath when the righteous judgment of God shall be revealed;

⁹ Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust under punishment until the day of judgment:

⁷ But by the same word, the heavens and the earth which are now, are reserved for fire on the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

⁴¹ They said to him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard to other tenants, who shall give him the fruits in their seasons.

⁴⁴ And whoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

¹⁹ And woe to those who are with child, and to those who nurse in those days!

¹⁷ But woe to those who are with child, and to those who are nursing infants in those days!

²⁷ As for my enemies, those who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here, and kill them in front of me.

²⁹ For, behold, the days are coming when they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts which never nursed.

¹⁶ By hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved, thus always filling up their sins to the limit: but wrath has come upon them at last.

¹² Nor by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, he entered once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption. ¹³ For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who are unclean, sanctifies them so their flesh is clean: ¹⁴ How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, cleanse your consciences from dead works to serve the living God? ¹⁵ And for this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions committed under the first covenant, those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance. ¹⁶ For where there is a will, the death of the testator must be established. ¹⁷ For a will is in force only upon death: it has no strength at all while the testator lives.

²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ But a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. ²⁸ He who despised Moses' law died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses: ²⁹ How much more severe punishment do you suppose he shall deserve, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has affronted the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know him who has said, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. ³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

¹⁶ Do not forget to do good and to share: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

¹ Come now, you rich men, weep and howl for the miseries that shall come upon you.

¹⁷ For the time has come for judgment, which must begin with the household of God: and if it begins with us, what shall the end be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

²⁵ Brethren, I would not have you be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that a hardening in part has happened to Israel, until the full number of Gentiles has come in.

² But the court which is outside the temple leave out, and do not measure it; for it is given to the Gentiles: and they shall tread the holy city under foot for forty-two months.

²⁹ Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.

²⁴ But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

²⁶ And then they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

³³ And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

¹⁹ And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs on the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in which the heavens shall pass away with a roar, and the elements shall be destroyed with fervent heat, the earth and the works that are upon it shall be burned up. ¹¹ Seeing then that all these things shall be destroyed, what kind of people ought you to be? You should live holy and godly lives, ¹² Looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens shall be dissolved in fire, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.

¹² And I beheld, and, lo, when he had opened the sixth seal, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; ¹³ And the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts down its unripe figs, when it is shaken by a mighty wind. ¹⁴ And the sky vanished, as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and him who sat upon it, from whose face earth and heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

²⁵ And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ But a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

²⁷ For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. ²⁸ Truly I say to you, There are some standing here, who shall not taste of death, until they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

³⁰ And then the sign of the Son of man shall appear in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

³¹ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

⁶⁴ Jesus said to him, You have said so: nevertheless I say to you, Hereafter you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

⁹ And when he had spoken these things, while they watched, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. ¹⁰ And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; ¹¹ Who said, You men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, shall come in the same way that you have seen him go into heaven.

⁷ Behold, he comes with the clouds; and every eye shall see him, even those who pierced him: and all families of the earth shall mourn because of him. Even so, Amen.

¹⁴ And I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and upon the cloud sat one like a son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

⁷ And shall not God vindicate his elect, who cry day and night to him, and will he delay long with them?

¹⁹ For the creation waits in earnest expectation for the revealing of the sons of God.

²³ And not only the creation, but ourselves as well, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we groan within ourselves, waiting for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

¹⁴ Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession, to the praise of his glory.

³⁰ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you have been sealed for the day of redemption.

³² Now learn this parable from the fig tree; When its branch becomes tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near: ³³ So likewise, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. ³⁴ Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass away, until all these things are fulfilled. ³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

²⁸ Now learn a parable from the fig tree; When its branch becomes tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near: ²⁹ Even so, when you see these things come to pass, know that it is near, even at the door. ³⁰ Truly I say to you, that this generation shall not pass away, until all these things have happened.

⁵⁷ And why do you not even judge for yourselves what is right?

¹ The Pharisees and the Sadducees came, and testing him, asked that he would show them a sign from heaven. ² He answered and said to them, When it is evening, you say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. ³ And in the morning, It will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and threatening. O you hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky; but can you not discern the signs of the times? ⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall be no sign given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them, and departed.

⁵¹ Do you suppose that I have come to give peace on earth? I tell you, No; but rather division: ⁵² For from henceforth there shall be five in one house, divided, three against two, and two against three. ⁵³ They shall be divided father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. ⁵⁴ And he also said to the people, When you see a cloud rise out of the west, immediately you say, A shower is coming; and so it does. ⁵⁵ And when you see the south wind blow, you say, There will be heat; and it comes to pass. ⁵⁶ You hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that you do not discern this time? ⁵⁷ And why do you not even judge for yourselves what is right?

³⁷ For yet a little while longer, and he who shall come will come, and will not tarry.

⁹ Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door.

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: therefore be of sound mind and sober judgement for prayer.

³⁶ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

³⁴ Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass away, until all these things are fulfilled.

³⁰ Truly I say to you, that this generation shall not pass away, until all these things have happened.

¹⁸ For truly I say to you, Until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke, shall by any means pass away from the law, until all is fulfilled.

³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

³¹ Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

²⁵ But the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word that was preached to you.

⁷ But by the same word, the heavens and the earth which are now, are reserved for fire on the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. ⁸ But, beloved, do not be ignorant of this one thing, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. ⁹ The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some men count slowness; but is patient toward you, not wanting that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. ¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in which the heavens shall pass away with a roar, and the elements shall be destroyed with fervent heat, the earth and the works that are upon it shall be burned up. ¹¹ Seeing then that all these things shall be destroyed, what kind of people ought you to be? You should live holy and godly lives, ¹² Looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens shall be dissolved in fire, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat. ¹³ But we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. ¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent that you may be found at peace with him, without spot, and blameless.

²² The seed sown among the thorns is he who hears the word; and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

³⁹ And they did not know until the flood came and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of man be. ⁴⁰ Then shall two be in the field; one shall be taken, and the other left. ⁴¹ Two women shall be grinding at the mill; one shall be taken, and the other left. ⁴² Therefore watch: for you do not know on what day your Lord will come. ⁴³ But know this, that if the owner of the house had known at what time the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. ⁴⁴ Therefore you must also be ready: for the Son of man will come at an hour you do not expect. ⁴⁵ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? ⁴⁶ Blessed is that servant, whom his lord shall find so doing when he comes. ⁴⁷ Truly I say to you, That he shall put him in charge of all his goods. ⁴⁸ But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming; ⁴⁹ And shall begin to strike his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; ⁵⁰ The lord of that servant shall come on a day when he does not expect him, and at a hour that he is not aware of,

¹⁹ And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lust for other things enter in, and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

⁹ But take heed for yourselves: for they will deliver you up to councils; and you shall be beaten in the synagogues: and you shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them.

¹⁴ And the seed which fell among thorns are those, who, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

⁴¹ And Jesus answered her, Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things:

⁴⁰ Therefore you be ready also: for the Son of man will come at a hour when you do not expect.

⁴⁵ But if that servant says in his heart, My lord delays his coming; and begins to beat the menservants and maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; ⁴⁶ The lord of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at a hour he is not aware of, and will cut him in pieces, and will assign him a place with the unbelievers.

³ Be on your guard: If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

¹¹ And besides that, you know the hour, that it is now high time to awaken from sleep: for now our salvation is nearer than when we believed. ¹² The night is far gone, the day is at hand: therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. ¹³ Let us conduct ourselves properly, as in the day; not in carousing and drunkenness, not in debauchery and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy.

¹¹ But now I write to you not to keep company with any man who is called a brother if he is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an swindler; with such a one do not even eat.

¹⁰ Nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife, jealousy, fits of rage, selfishness, dissensions, factions,

⁶ Be anxious about nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

² For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night. ³ For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as birth pangs upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. ⁴ But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that this day should overtake you as a thief. ⁵ You are all sons of light, and sons of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. ⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as others do; but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who get drunk, get drunk in the night. ⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

¹⁵ See to it that no man fails to obtain the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up should trouble you, and thereby defile many;

³ For the time past was sufficient for doing the things the Gentiles desire to do: living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, revelling, carousing, and abominable idolatries. ⁴ They think it strange that you do not run with them into the same excess of dissipation, and they speak evil of you: ⁵ But they shall give an account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. ⁶ For this reason the gospel was also preached to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh as men, they might live according to God in the spirit. ⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: therefore be of sound mind and sober judgement for prayer.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in which the heavens shall pass away with a roar, and the elements shall be destroyed with fervent heat, the earth and the works that are upon it shall be burned up.

¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent that you may be found at peace with him, without spot, and blameless.

³ Therefore, remember what you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If you will not awaken, I will come like a thief, and you shall not know at what hour I will come upon you.

³⁷ And they answered and said to him, Where, Lord? And he said to them, Wherever the body is, there will the vultures be gathered.

²⁶ And he has made from one all nations of men to live on all the face of the earth, and has determined their allotted times, and the boundaries of their habitation;

¹⁵ Behold, I come like a thief. Blessed is he who stays awake, and keeps his garments with him, lest he walk naked and ashamed for all to see.

⁴² Therefore watch: for you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

¹³ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation: the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

³³ Take heed, watch and pray: for you do not know when the time will come.

³⁷ And what I say to you I say to all, Watch.

³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord shall find watching when he comes: truly I say to you, that he shall dress himself to serve, and make them sit down at the table, and will come forth and serve them. ³⁸ And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. ³⁹ And know this, that if the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. ⁴⁰ Therefore you be ready also: for the Son of man will come at a hour when you do not expect.

¹ And he spoke a parable to them to show that men ought always to pray, and not loose heart;

³⁵ But those who shall be accounted worthy to obtain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

² A devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, and he gave many alms to the people, and prayed to God always.

¹³ Be watchful, stand fast in the faith, act like men, be strong.

¹³ Therefore, take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand on the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

¹⁸ Praying always in the Spirit with all manner of prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert in it with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints; ¹⁹ And for me, that words may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

² Continue in prayer, and be watchful in it with thanksgiving;

¹⁷ Pray without ceasing.

⁵ Which is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you suffer. ⁶ It is a righteous thing for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you;

⁵ But you, be steady in all things; endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, walks about, seeking someone he may devour.

²⁸ And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

²⁴ Now to him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless in the presence of his glory with exceedingly great joy,

¹ And when they drew near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, to the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

¹⁷ And he left them, and went out of the city to Bethany; and he lodged there.

³⁰ And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.

⁵⁵ In that same hour Jesus said to the multitudes, Do you come out to take me with swords and clubs, as if I was a thief ? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and you did not lay hold on me.

¹² On the next day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry:

¹⁹ And when evening came, he went out of the city.

³⁷ And as he was coming near, at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

³⁹ And he came out, and went, as was his custom, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples followed him.

¹ Six days before the passover Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus raised from the dead.

¹² Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

¹ But Jesus went to the mount of Olives. ² And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down, and taught them.
