²⁸ For I say to you, Among those born of women there is none greater than John: but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

¹¹ Truly I say to you, Among those who are born of women there has not arisen one greater than John the Baptist: yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

¹⁶ But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. ¹⁷ For truly I say to you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which you see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which you hear, and have not heard them.

¹⁴ And you shall have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. ¹⁵ For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

¹⁶ John answered, saying to them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I comes, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie: he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire:

⁴⁸ And said to them, Whoever shall receive this child in my name receives me: and whoever shall receive me receives him who sent me: for he who is least among you, that one shall be great.

²³ And he turned to his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see: ²⁴ For I tell you, that many prophets and kings desired to see those things which you see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which you hear, and have not heard them.

⁸ To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, was this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; ⁹ And make all men see what is the plan of the mystery, which from past ages has been hidden in God, who created all things:

²⁵ Of which I was made a minister, according to the commission of God, which was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known; ²⁶ That is, the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but has now been made manifest to his saints; ²⁷ To whom God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the riches of the glory of this mystery; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

³⁹ And all these, having obtained approval through their faith, did not receive the promise, ⁴⁰ Because God had provided something better for us, that without us they should not be made perfect.

¹⁰ Of this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that should come to you enquired and searched diligently: ¹¹ Seeking to find to whom and when the Spirit of Christ within them was pointing, when he testified beforehand of the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow. ¹² It was revealed to them that they did not serve themselves, but you, in the things which have now been made known to you by those who preached the gospel to you through the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; things into which angels desire to look.
