¹ Take heed that you do not practice your righteousness before men, to be seen by them: otherwise you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. ² Therefore, when you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have praise from men. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward.

⁵ And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and at the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward.

⁴ And some were indignant, and said to themselves, Why was this perfume wasted? ⁵ For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and have been given to the poor. And they reproved her.

⁸ She has done what she could: she has come beforehand to anoint my body for burial.

³⁷ And he came, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, Simon, are you sleeping? could you not watch for one hour? ³⁸ Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

¹⁰ And the whole multitude of people were praying outside at the time of incense offering.

¹ In the meantime, when a great crowd of people had gathered, so that they trod upon each other, he began to say first to his disciples, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. ² For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; nor hidden, that shall not be known.

⁴⁶ The lord of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at a hour he is not aware of, and will cut him in pieces, and will assign him a place with the unbelievers.

¹ But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a piece of property, ² And, with his wife's knowledge, kept back part of the price, and brought a certain part of it, and laid it at the apostles' feet. ³ But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land? ⁴ While it was unsold, was it not your own? and even after it was sold, was not the money in your own power? why have you conceived this deed in your heart? you have not lied to men, but to God. ⁵ On hearing these words Ananias fell down and died: and great fear came on all those who heard these things. ⁶ And the young men arose, wrapped him up, and carried him out, and buried him. ⁷ And it was about three hours later, when his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in. ⁸ And Peter said to her, Tell me whether you sold the land for so much? And she said, Yes, for that much. ⁹ Then Peter said to her, How is it that you have agreed to test the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and shall carry you out as well. ¹⁰ Then she immediately fell down at his feet, and died: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

³⁰ And Cornelius said, Four days ago about this hour, I was keeping the ninth hour of prayer in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, ³¹ And said, Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered by God. ³² Therefore send to Joppa, and ask for Simon, who is called Peter; he is lodging in the house of one Simon, a tanner, by the sea. ³³ Therefore I immediately sent to you; and you have been kind enough to come. Now then, we are all present here before God, to hear all things that you have been commanded by the Lord. ³⁴ Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Truly I perceive that God shows no partiality: ³⁵ But in every nation the man who fears him, and works righteousness, is accepted by him.

¹⁷ That the rest of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, who are called by my name, ¹⁸ Says the Lord, who makes these things known from of old.

¹⁶ That I should be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, in the priestly service of the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

¹³ Do you not know that those who perform the temple services eat the food of the temple? and those who serve at the altar share what is offered at the altar?

²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: you cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

²¹ For in eating every one goes ahead with his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken. ²² What? do you not have houses in which to eat and to drink? or do you despise the church of God, and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I will not.

²⁷ Therefore, whoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. ²⁸ Let a man examine himself before he eats of the bread, and drinks of the cup. ²⁹ For he who eats and drinks unworthily, not discerning the Lord's body, eats and drinks judgement upon himself. ³⁰ For this reason many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. ³¹ For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. ³² But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

¹² For if there is first a willing mind, it is acceptable, according to what a man has, and not according to that he does not have.

² Honour your father and mother; (which is the first commandment with a promise;)

²¹ For all seek after their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ's.

¹⁸ But I have received all, and abound: I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and well-pleasing to God.

⁸ Therefore, I want men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or dissension.

¹ Let as many as are under the yoke of slavery count their masters as worthy of all honour, that the name of God and our teaching may be not defamed. ² And those who have believing masters must not despise them because they are brethren; but rather service them all the more, because those who partake of their services are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.

¹⁵ Which he will bring about in his own time, he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

⁹ Urge servants to be obedient to their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not to talk back, ¹⁰ Not to pilfer, but showing entire and true fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

²⁶ For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, blameless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and exalted above the heavens; ²⁷ Who has no need, as do those high priests, to offer up daily sacrifices, first for his own sins, and then for those of the people: for this he did once for all, when he offered up himself.

³⁸ But my righteous one shall live by faith: but if any man draws back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

²⁹ For our God is a consuming fire.

¹⁵ Therefore, through him let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. ¹⁶ Do not forget to do good and to share: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

¹³ Come now, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, and remain there a year, and buy and sell, and make a profit. ¹⁴ Yet you do not even know what shall happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is just a vapour, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. ¹⁵ Instead you ought to say, If the Lord wills, we shall live, and do this, or that. ¹⁶ But now you boast in your presumption: all such boasting is evil.

¹⁷ And if you address as Father the one who without partiality judges according to every man's work, then pass the time of your stay on earth in reverent fear:

¹⁷ Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. ¹⁸ Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the perverse. ¹⁹ For this is commendable, if for the sake of conscience toward God, a man endures sorrow while suffering wrongfully.

² Tend the flock of God which is in your charge, not by compulsion, but willingly; not for sordid gain, but eagerly;

⁸ And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb; each one had a harp, and they had golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

³ And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. ⁴ And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God out of the angel's hand.

¹⁵ And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign forever and ever.

⁴ Who shall not fear you, O Lord, and glorify your name? for you alone are holy: all nations shall come and worship before you; for your righteous acts have been revealed.

⁸ But the cowardly, and unbelieving, and the vile, and murderers, and the sexually immoral, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and sulphur: which is the second death.
