¹ The masters! that which is righteous and equal to the servants give you, having known that you also have a Master in the heavens. ² In the prayer continue you, watching in it in thanksgiving; ³ praying at the same time also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to speak the secret of the Christ, because of which also I have been bound, ⁴ that I may manifest it, as it behooveth me to speak; ⁵ in wisdom walk you toward those without, the time forestalling; ⁶ your word always in grace -- with salt being seasoned -- to know how it behooveth you to answer each one. ⁷ All the things concerning me make known to you shall Tychicus -- the beloved brother, and faithful minister, and fellow-servant in the Lord -- ⁸ whom I did send unto you for this very thing, that he might know the things concerning you, and might comfort your hearts, ⁹ with Onesimus the faithful and beloved brother, who is of you; all things to you shall they make known that are here. ¹⁰ Salute you does Aristarchus, my fellow-captive, and Marcus, the nephew of Barnabas, (concerning whom you did receive commands -- if he may come unto you receive him,) ¹¹ and Jesus who is called Justus, who are of the circumcision: these only are fellow-workers for the reign of God who did become a comfort to me. ¹² Salute you does Epaphras, who is of you, a servant of Christ, always striving for you in the prayers, that you may stand perfect and made full in all the will of God, ¹³ for I do testify to him, that he has much zeal for you, and those in Laodicea, and those in Hierapolis. ¹⁴ Salute you does Lukas, the beloved physician, and Demas; ¹⁵ salute you those in Laodicea -- brethren, and Nymphas, and the assembly in his house; ¹⁶ and when the epistle may be read with you, cause that also in the assembly of the Laodiceans it may be read, and the epistle from Laodicea that you also may read; ¹⁷ and say to Archippus, 'See to the ministration that you did receive in the Lord, that you may fulfil it.' ¹⁸ The salutation by the hand of me, Paul; remember my bonds; the grace is with you. Amen.

⁸ 'And you -- you may not be called Rabbi, for one is your director -- the Christ, and all you are brethren; ⁹ and you may not call any your father on the earth, for one is your Father, who is in the heavens,

⁴⁸ 'And, if that evil servant may say in his heart, My Lord does delay to come, ⁴⁹ and may begin to beat the fellow-servants, and to eat and to drink with the drunken, ⁵⁰ the lord of that servant will arrive in a day when he does not expect, and in an hour of which he does not know, ⁵¹ and will cut him off, and his portion with the hypocrites will appoint; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.

¹ And he said also unto his disciples, 'A certain man was rich, who had a steward, and he was accused to him as scattering his goods; ² and having called him, he said to him, What is this I hear about you? render the account of your stewardship, for you may not any longer be steward. ³ 'And the steward said in himself, What shall I do, because my lord does take away the stewardship from me? to dig I am not able, to beg I am ashamed: -- ⁴ I have known what I shall do, that, when I may be removed from the stewardship, they may receive me to their houses. ⁵ 'And having called near each one of his lord's debtors, he said to the first, How much do you owe to my lord? ⁶ and he said, A hundred baths of oil; and he said to him, Take your bill, and having sat down write fifty. ⁷ 'Afterward to another he said, And you, how much do you owe? and he said, A hundred cors of wheat; and he said to him, Take your bill, and write eighty. ⁸ 'And the lord commended the unrighteous steward that he did prudently, because the sons of this age are more prudent than the sons of the light, in respect to their generation. ⁹ and I say to you, Make to yourselves friends out of the mammon of unrighteousness, that when you may fail, they may receive you to the age-during tabernacles. ¹⁰ 'He who is faithful in the least, is also faithful in much; and he who in the least is unrighteous, is also unrighteous in much; ¹¹ if, then, in the unrighteous mammon ye became not faithful -- the true who will entrust to you? ¹² and if in the other's you became not faithful -- your own, who shall give to you? ¹³ 'No domestic is able to serve two lords, for either the one he will hate, and the other he will love; or one he will hold to, and of the other he will be heedless; you are not able to serve God and mammon.'

¹⁵ 'And it came to pass, on his coming back, having taken the kingdom, that he commanded these servants to be called to him, to whom he gave the money, that he might know what any one had done in business.

⁸ having known that whatever good thing each one may do, this he shall receive from the Lord, whether servant or freeman\'7bfree\'7d. ⁹ And the masters! the same things do you unto them, letting threatening alone, having known that also your Master is in the heavens, and acceptance of persons\'7bprejudice, bias\'7d is not with him. ¹⁰ As to the rest, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might; ¹¹ put on the whole armour of God, for your being able to stand against the wiles\'7bschemes\'7d of the devil, ¹² because we have not the wrestling with blood and flesh, but with the principalities, with the authorities, with the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, with the spiritual things of the evil in the heavenly places; ¹³ because of this take you up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to resist in the day of the evil, and all things having done -- to stand. ¹⁴ Stand, therefore, having your loins girt\'7bgirded\'7d about in truth, and having put on the breastplate of the righteousness, ¹⁵ and having the feet shod in the preparation of the good-news of the peace; ¹⁶ above all, having taken up the shield of the faith, in which ye shall be able all the fiery darts of the evil one to quench, ¹⁷ and the helmet of the salvation receive, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the saying of God, ¹⁸ through all prayer and supplication\'7bpetitions, requests\'7d praying at all times in the Spirit, and in regard to this same, watching in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints -- ¹⁹ and in behalf of me, that to me may be given a word in the opening of my mouth, in freedom, to make known the secret of the good news, ²⁰ for which I am an ambassador in a chain, that in it I may speak freely -- as it behooves\'7bnecessitates\'7d me to speak.

¹³ for the judgment without kindness is to him not having done kindness, and exult does kindness over judgment.

⁴ lo, the reward of the workmen, of those who in-gathered your fields, which has been fraudulently kept back by you -- does cry out, and the exclamations of those who did reap into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth have entered;

¹⁴ these with the Lamb shall make war, and the Lamb shall overcome them, because Lord of lords he is, and King of kings, and those with him are called, and choice, and stedfast.'

¹⁶ and he has upon the garment and upon his thigh the name written, 'King of kings, and Lord of lords.'

⁴¹ Watch, and pray, that you may not enter into temptation: the spirit indeed is forward, but the flesh weak.'

³³ Take heed, watch and pray, for you have not known when the time is;

¹ And he spake also a simile to them, that it is necessary for us always to pray, and not to faint,

³⁶ watch you, then, in every season, praying that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.'

¹² in the hope rejoicing; in the tribulation enduring; in the prayer persevering;

¹⁸ through all prayer and supplication\'7bpetitions, requests\'7d praying at all times in the Spirit, and in regard to this same, watching in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints --

⁶ for nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer, and by supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God;

⁹ Because of this, we also, from the day in which we heard, do not cease praying for you, and asking that you may be filled with the full knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding,

⁷ being rooted and built up in him, and confirmed in the faith, as you were taught -- abounding in it in thanksgiving.

¹⁵ and let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and become thankful.

¹⁷ and all, whatever you may do in word or in work, do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus -- giving thanks to the God and Father, through him.

¹² Salute you does Epaphras, who is of you, a servant of Christ, always striving for you in the prayers, that you may stand perfect and made full in all the will of God,

¹⁷ continually pray you; ¹⁸ in every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus in regard to you.

⁷ And of all things the end has come near; be sober-minded, then, and watch unto the prayers,

¹¹ And he answering said to them that -- 'To you it has been given to know the secrets of the reign of the heavens, and to these it has not been given,

²⁷ and having come and gathered together the assembly, they declared as many things as God did with them, and that He did open to the nations a door of faith;

³⁰ And I call upon you, brethren, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in the prayers for me unto God, ³¹ that I may be delivered from those not believing in Judea, and that my ministration, that is for Jerusalem, may become acceptable to the saints; ³² that in joy I may come unto you, through the will of God, and may be refreshed with you,

¹ Let a man so reckon us as officers of Christ, and stewards of the secrets of God,

⁹ for a door to me has been opened -- great and effectual -- and withstanders are many.

¹² And having come to Troas for the good news of the Christ, and a door to me having been opened in the Lord,

¹ For this cause, I Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you the nations,

¹ Call upon you, then, do I -- the prisoner of the Lord -- to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,

⁷ according as it is righteous for me to think this in behalf of you all, because of my having you in the heart, both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the good news, all of you being fellow-partakers with me of grace.

¹³ so that my bonds have become manifest in Christ in the whole praetorium, and to the other places -- all, ¹⁴ and the greater part of the brethren in the Lord, having confidence by my bonds, are more abundantly bold -- fearlessly to speak the word.

¹⁹ For I have known that this shall fall out to me for salvation, through your supplication, and the supply of the Spirit of Christ Jesus,

²⁶ the secret that has been hid from the ages and from the generations, but now was manifested to his saints,

² that their hearts may be comforted, being united in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of the understanding, to the full knowledge of the secret of the God and Father, and of the Christ, ³ in whom are all the treasures of the wisdom and the knowledge hid,

²⁵ Brethren, pray for us;

¹ As to the rest, pray you, brethren, concerning us, that the word of the Lord may run and may be glorified, as also with you, ² and that we may be delivered from the unreasonable and evil men, for the faith is not of all;

¹⁶ may the Lord give kindness to the house of Onesiphorus, because many times he did refresh me, and of my chain was not ashamed,

⁹ in which I suffer evil\'7bhardship\'7d -- unto bonds, as an evil-doer, but the word of God has not been bound;

²² and at the same time also prepare for me a lodging, for I hope that through your prayers I shall be granted to you.

¹⁸ Pray for us, for we trust that we have a good conscience, in all things willing to behave well, ¹⁹ and more abundantly do I call upon you to do this, that more quickly I may be restored to you.

⁷ 'And to the messenger of the assembly in Philadelphia write: These things says he who is holy, he who is true, he who is having the key of David, he who is opening and no one does shut, and he shuts and no one does open! ⁸ I have known your works; lo, I have set before you a door -- opened, and no one is able to shut it, because you have a little power, and did keep my word, and did not deny my name;

²⁶ 'You may not, therefore, fear them, for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed, and hid, that shall not be known; ²⁷ that which I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light, and that which you hear at the ear, proclaim on the house-tops.

²⁹ 'And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings, and grant to Your servants with all freedom to speak Your word,

²⁹ And Peter and the apostles answering, said, 'To obey God it behooves, rather than men;

⁴ and my word and my preaching was not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power -- ⁵ that your faith may not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

¹⁴ and to God are thanks, who at all times is leading us in triumph in the Christ, and the fragrance of His knowledge He is manifesting through us in every place, ¹⁵ because of Christ a sweet fragrance we are to God, in those being saved, and in those being lost; ¹⁶ to the one, indeed, a fragrance of death to death, and to the other, a fragrance of life to life; and for these things who is sufficient? ¹⁷ for we are not as the many, adulterating the word of God, but as of sincerity -- but as of God; in the presence of God, in Christ we do speak.

¹² Having, then, such hope, we use much freedom of speech,

¹ Because of this, having this ministration, according as we did receive kindness, we do not faint, ² but did renounce for ourselves the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor deceitfully using the word of God, but by the manifestation of the truth recommending ourselves unto every conscience of men, before God; ³ and if also our good news is veiled, in those perishing it is veiled, ⁴ in whom the god of this age did blind the minds of the unbelieving, that there does not shine forth to them the enlightening of the good news of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God;

²⁰ for which I am an ambassador in a chain, that in it I may speak freely -- as it behooves\'7bnecessitates\'7d me to speak.

⁶ your word always in grace -- with salt being seasoned -- to know how it behooveth you to answer each one.

¹⁶ 'Lo, I do send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves, be you therefore wise as the serpents, and simple as the doves.

¹¹ and he said to them, 'To you it has been given to know the secret of the reign of God, but to those who are without, in similes are all the things done;

¹⁹ for your obedience did reach to all; I rejoice, therefore, as regards you, and I wish you to be wise, indeed, as to the good, and harmless as to the evil;

¹² for what have I also those without to judge? those within do you not judge? ¹³ and those without God does judge; and put you away the evil from among yourselves.

¹⁹ but in an assembly I wish to speak five words through my understanding, that others also I may instruct, rather than myriads of words in an unknown tongue. ²⁰ Brethren, become not children in the understanding, but in the evil be you babes, and in the understanding become you perfect; ²¹ in the law it has been written, that, 'With other tongues and with other lips I will speak to this people, and not even so will they hear Me, says the Lord;' ²² so that the tongues are for a sign, not to the believing, but to the unbelieving; and the prophesy is not for the unbelieving, but for the believing, ²³ If, therefore, the whole assembly may come together, to the same place, and all may speak with tongues, and there may come in unlearned or unbelievers, will they not say that you are mad? ²⁴ and if all may prophecy, and any one may come in, an unbeliever or unlearned, he is convicted by all, he is discerned by all, ²⁵ and so the secrets of his heart become manifest, and so having fallen upon his face, he will bow before God, declaring that God really is among you.

¹⁵ See, then, how exactly you walk, not as unwise, but as wise, ¹⁶ redeeming the time, because the days are evil; ¹⁷ because of this become not fools, but -- understanding what is the will of the Lord,

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing each other, in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, in grace singing in your hearts to the Lord;

¹² that you may walk becomingly unto those without, and may have lack of nothing.

⁷ and it benefits him also to have a good testimony from those without, that he may not fall into reproach and a snare of the devil.

⁵ and if any of you do lack wisdom, let him ask from God, who is giving to all liberally, and not reproaching, and it shall be given to him;

¹³ Who is wise and intelligent among you? let him show out of the good behaviour his works in meekness of wisdom,

¹⁷ and the wisdom from above, first, indeed, is pure, then peaceable, gentle, easily entreated, full of kindness and good fruits, uncontentious, and unhypocritical: --

¹ In like manner, the wives, be you subject to your own husbands, that even if certain are disobedient to the word, through the conversation of the wives, without the word, they may be won,

¹³ 'You are the salt of the land, but if the salt may lose savour, in what shall it be salted? For nothing is it good henceforth, except to be cast without, and to be trodden down by men.

³⁴ 'Brood of vipers! How are you able to speak good things -- being evil? For out of the abundance of the heart does the mouth speak. ³⁵ The good man out of the good treasure of the heart does put forth the good things, and the evil man out of the evil treasure does put forth evil things.

⁵⁰ The salt is good, but if the salt may become saltless, in what will you season it? Have in yourselves salt, and have peace in one another.'

²² and all were bearing testimony to him, and were wondering at the gracious words that are coming forth out of his mouth, and they said, 'Is not this the son of Joseph?'

²⁰ And, having watched him, they sent forth liers in wait, feigning themselves to be righteous, that they might take hold of his word, to deliver him up to the rule and to the authority of the governor, ²¹ and they questioned him, saying, 'Teacher, we have known that you do say and teach rightly, and do not accept a person, but in truth the way of God do teach; ²² Is it lawful to us to give tribute to Caesar or not?' ²³ And he, having perceived their craftiness, said unto them, 'Why me do you tempt? ²⁴ show me a denary; of whom has it an image and superscription?' and they answering said, 'Of Caesar:' ²⁵ and he said to them, 'Give back, therefore, the things of Caesar to Caesar, and the things of God to God;' ²⁶ and they were not able to take hold on his saying before the people, and having wondered at his answer, they were silent. ²⁷ And certain of the Sadducees, who are denying that there is a rising again, having come near, questioned him, ²⁸ saying, 'Teacher, Moses wrote to us, If any one's brother may die, having a wife, and he may die childless -- that his brother may take the wife, and may raise up seed to his brother. ²⁹ 'There were, then, seven brothers, and the first having taken a wife, died childless, ³⁰ and the second took the wife, and he died childless, ³¹ and the third took her, and in like manner also the seven -- they left not children, and they died; ³² and last of all died also the woman: ³³ in the rising again, then, of which of them does she become wife? -- for the seven had her as wife.' ³⁴ And Jesus answering said to them, 'The sons of this age do marry and are given in marriage, ³⁵ but those accounted worthy to obtain that age, and the rising again that is out of the dead, neither marry, nor are they given in marriage; ³⁶ for neither are they able to die any more -- for they are like messengers -- and they are sons of God, being sons of the rising again. ³⁷ 'And that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the Bush, since he does call the Lord, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob; ³⁸ and He is not a God of dead men, but of living, for all live to Him.' ³⁹ And certain of the scribes answering said, 'Teacher, you did say well;' ⁴⁰ and no more did they question him anything.

²⁹ Let no corrupt word out of your mouth go forth, but what is good unto the needful building up, that it may give grace to the hearers;

¹⁵ and the Lord God sanctify in your hearts. And be ready always for defence to every one who is asking of you an account concerning the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

⁴ And there were accompanying him unto Asia, Sopater of Berea, and of Thessalonians Aristarchus and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus, and of Asiatics Tychicus and Trophimus;

¹ Let a man so reckon us as officers of Christ, and stewards of the secrets of God, ² and as to the rest, it is required in the stewards that one may be found faithful, ³ and to me it is for a very little thing that by you I may be judged, or by man's day, but not even myself do I judge, ⁴ for of nothing to myself have I been conscious, but not in this have I been declared right -- and he who is discerning me is the Lord:

²¹ And that you may know -- you also -- the things concerning me -- what I do, all things make known to you shall Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, ²² whom I did send unto you for this very thing, that you might know the things concerning us, and that he might comfort your hearts. ²³ Peace to the brethren, and love, with faith, from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!

²⁵ And I thought it necessary Epaphroditus -- my brother, and fellow-workman, and fellow-soldier, and your apostle and servant to my need -- to send unto you,

⁹ with Onesimus the faithful and beloved brother, who is of you; all things to you shall they make known that are here.

¹² and Tychicus I sent to Ephesus;

¹² When I shall send Artemas unto you, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis, for there to winter I have determined.

¹⁷ because of this I sent to you Timotheus, who is my child, beloved and faithful in the Lord, who shall remind you of my ways in Christ, according as everywhere in every assembly I teach.

⁴ who is comforting us in all our tribulation, for our being able to comfort those in any tribulation through the comfort with which we are comforted ourselves by God;

⁷ so that, on the contrary, it is rather for you to forgive and to comfort, lest by over abundant sorrow such a one may be swallowed up;

¹⁸ I entreated Titus, and did send with him the brother; did Titus take advantage of you? in the same spirit did we not walk? -- did we not in the same steps?

²² whom I did send unto you for this very thing, that you might know the things concerning us, and that he might comfort your hearts.

²⁸ The more eagerly, therefore, I did send him, that having seen him again you may rejoice, and I may be the less sorrowful;

² that their hearts may be comforted, being united in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of the understanding, to the full knowledge of the secret of the God and Father, and of the Christ,

¹¹ even as you have known, how each one of you, as a father his own children, we are exhorting you, and comforting, and testifying,

² and did send Timothy -- our brother, and a ministrant of God, and our fellow-workman in the good news of the Christ -- to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith,

⁵ because of this also, I, no longer forbearing, did send to know your faith, lest he who is tempting did tempt you, and in vain might be our labour.

¹⁸ so, then, comfort you one another in these words.

¹¹ therefore, comfort you one another, and build you up, one the one, as also you do.

¹⁴ and we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the infirm, be patient unto all;

¹⁷ comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.

⁷ All the things concerning me make known to you shall Tychicus -- the beloved brother, and faithful minister, and fellow-servant in the Lord --

¹⁰ I entreat you concerning my child -- whom I did beget in my bonds -- Onesimus, ¹¹ who once was to you unprofitable, and now is profitable to me and to you, ¹² whom I did send again, and you him (that is, my own affections) receive, ¹³ whom I did wish to retain to myself, that in your behalf he might minister to me in the bonds of the good news, ¹⁴ and apart from your mind I willed to do nothing, that as of necessity your good deed may not be, but of willingness, ¹⁵ for perhaps because of this he did depart for an hour, that age-duringly you may have him, ¹⁶ no more as a servant, but above a servant -- a brother beloved, especially to me, and how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord! ¹⁷ If, then, with me you have fellowship, receive him as me, ¹⁸ and if he did hurt to you, or does owe anything, this to me be reckoning; ¹⁹ I, Paul did write with my hand, I -- I will repay; that I may not say that also yourself, besides, to me you do owe.

³⁶ And Joses, who was surnamed by the apostles Barnabas -- which is, having been interpreted, Son of Comfort -- a Levite, of Cyprus by birth,

¹² also, having considered, he came unto the house of Mary, the mother of John, who is surnamed Mark, where there were many thronged together and praying.

⁵ and having come unto Salamis, they declared the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews, and they had also John as a ministrant;

¹³ And those about Paul having set sail from Paphos, came to Perga of Pamphylia, and John having departed from them, did turn back to Jerusalem,

³⁷ And Barnabas counseled to take with them John called Mark, ³⁸ and Paul was not thinking it good to take him with them who withdrew from them from Pamphylia, and did not go with them to the work; ³⁹ there came, therefore, a sharp contention, so that they were parted from one another, and Barnabas having taken Mark, did sail to Cyprus,

²⁹ and the whole city was filled with confusion, they rushed also with one accord into the theatre, having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians, Paul's fellow-travellers.

² and having embarked in a ship of Adramyttium, we, being about to sail by the coasts of Asia, did set sail, there being with us Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica,

² that you may receive her in the Lord, as does become saints, and may assist her in whatever matter she may have need of you -- for she also became a leader of many, and of myself.

⁷ salute Andronicus and Junias, my kindred, and my fellow-captives, who are of note among the apostles, who also have been in Christ before me.

²¹ Salute you do Timotheus, my fellow-workman, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kindred; ²² I Tertius salute you (who wrote the letter) in the Lord; ²³ salute you does Gaius, my host, and of the whole assembly; salute you does Erastus, the steward of the city, and Quartus the brother,

¹¹ Lukas only is with me; Markus having taken, bring with yourself, for he is profitable to me for ministration\'7bservice\'7d;

²⁴ Markus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lukas, my fellow-workmen!

¹³ Salute you does the assembly in Babylon jointly elected, and Markus my son.

⁸ See to yourselves that you may not lose the things that we wrought, but a full reward may receive; ⁹ every one who is transgressing, and is not remaining in the teaching of the Christ, has not God; he who is remaining in the teaching of the Christ, this one has both the Father and the Son;

⁴⁵ and those of the circumcision believing were astonished -- as many as came with Peter -- because also upon the nations the gift of the Holy Spirit has been poured out,

² and when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision were contending with him,

¹² and father of circumcision to those not of circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of the faith, that is in the uncircumcision of our father Abraham.

⁵ Who, then, is Paul, and who Apollos, but ministrants through whom you did believe, and to each as the Lord gave? ⁶ I planted, Apollos watered, but God was giving growth; ⁷ so that neither is he who is planting anything, nor he who is watering, but He who is giving growth -- God; ⁸ and he who is planting and he who is watering are one, and each his own reward shall receive, according to his own labour, ⁹ for of God we are fellow-workmen; God's tillage, God's building you are.

¹ And working together also we call upon you that you receive not in vain the grace of God --

⁶ but He who is comforting the cast-down -- God -- He did comfort us in the presence of Titus; ⁷ and not only in his presence, but also in the comfort with which he was comforted over you, declaring to us your longing desire, your lamentation, your zeal for me, so that the more I did rejoice,

⁷ but, on the contrary, having seen that I have been entrusted with the good news of the uncircumcision, as Peter with that of the circumcision, ⁸ for He who did work with Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, did work also in me in regard to the nations,

¹¹ Therefore, remember, that you were once the nations in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that called Circumcision in the flesh made by hands,

³ and I ask also you, genuine yoke-fellow, be assisting those women who in the good news did strive along with me, with Clement also, and the others, my fellow-workers, whose names are in the book of life.

⁷ because of this we were comforted, brethren, over you, in all our tribulation and necessity, through your faith,

¹⁰ for there are many both insubordinate, vain-talkers, and mind-deceivers -- especially they of the circumcision --

¹ Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy the brother, to Philemon our beloved and fellow-worker,

⁴⁸ You shall therefore be perfect, as your Father who is in the heavens is perfect.

⁴⁴ and having been in agony, he was more earnestly praying, and his sweat became, as it were, great drops of blood falling upon the ground.

²⁶ if any one may minister to me, let him follow me, and where I am, there also my ministrant shall be; and if any one may minister to me -- honour him will the Father.

¹⁴ And I am persuaded, my brethren -- I myself also -- concerning you, that you yourselves also are full of goodness, having been filled with all knowledge, able also one another to admonish;

³⁰ And I call upon you, brethren, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in the prayers for me unto God,

⁶ And wisdom we speak among the perfect, and wisdom not of this age, nor of the rulers of this age -- of those becoming useless,

²⁰ Brethren, become not children in the understanding, but in the evil be you babes, and in the understanding become you perfect;

¹¹ Henceforth, brethren, rejoice; be made perfect, be comforted, be of the same mind, be at peace, and the God of the love and peace shall be with you;

¹⁰ for now men do I persuade, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if yet men I did please -- Christ's servant I should not be.

¹⁹ my little children, of whom again I travail in birth, till Christ may be formed in you,

¹² Not that I did already obtain, or have been already perfected; but I pursue, if also I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by the Christ Jesus; ¹³ brethren, I do not reckon myself to have laid hold; and one thing -- the things behind indeed forgetting, and to the things before stretching forth -- ¹⁴ to the mark I pursue for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ As many, therefore, as are perfect -- let us think this, and if in anything you think otherwise, this also shall God reveal to you,

⁷ as you also learned from Epaphras, our beloved fellow-servant, who is for you a faithful minister of the Christ,

²² in the body of his flesh through the death, to present you holy, and unblemished, and unblameable before himself,

²⁸ whom we proclaim, warning every man, and teaching every man, in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus,

¹ For I wish you to know how great a conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, ² that their hearts may be comforted, being united in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of the understanding, to the full knowledge of the secret of the God and Father, and of the Christ, ³ in whom are all the treasures of the wisdom and the knowledge hid, ⁴ and this I say, that no one may beguile you in enticing words, ⁵ for if even in the flesh I am absent -- yet in the spirit I am with you, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in regard to Christ; ⁶ as, then, you did receive Christ Jesus the Lord, in him walk you, ⁷ being rooted and built up in him, and confirmed in the faith, as you were taught -- abounding in it in thanksgiving. ⁸ See that no one shall be carrying you away as spoil through the philosophy and vain deceit, according to the deliverance of men, according to the rudiments of the world, and not according to Christ, ⁹ because in him does tabernacle all the fulness of the Godhead bodily, ¹⁰ and you are in him made full, who is the head of all principality and authority, ¹¹ in whom also you were circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh in the circumcision of the Christ, ¹² being buried with him in the baptism, in which also you rose with him through the faith of the working of God, who did raise him out of the dead. ¹³ And you -- being dead in the trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh -- He made alive together with him, having forgiven you all the trespasses, ¹⁴ having blotted out the handwriting in the ordinances that is against us, that was contrary to us, and he has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross; ¹⁵ having stripped the principalities and the authorities, he made a shew of them openly -- having triumphed over them in it. ¹⁶ Let no one, then, judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths, ¹⁷ which are a shadow of the coming things, and the body is of the Christ; ¹⁸ let no one beguile you of your prize, delighting in humble-mindedness and in worship of the messengers, intruding into the things he has not seen, being vainly puffed up by the mind of his flesh, ¹⁹ and not holding the head, from which all the body -- through the joints and bands gathering supply, and being knit together -- may increase with the increase of God. ²⁰ If, then, you did die with the Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as living in the world, are you subject to ordinances? ²¹ -- you may not touch, nor taste, nor handle -- ²² which are all for destruction with the using, after the commands and teachings of men, ²³ which are, indeed, having a matter of wisdom in will-worship, and humble-mindedness, and neglecting of body -- not in any honour, unto a satisfying of the flesh.

¹ The masters! that which is righteous and equal to the servants give you, having known that you also have a Master in the heavens. ² In the prayer continue you, watching in it in thanksgiving;

²³ and the God of the peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit, and soul, and body, be preserved unblameably in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ;

²³ Salute you does Epaphras, (my fellow-captive in Christ Jesus,)

⁷ who in the days of his flesh both prayers and supplications unto Him who was able to save him from death -- with strong crying and tears -- having offered up, and having been heard in respect to that which he feared,

¹⁴ and of perfect men is the strong food, who because of the use are having the senses exercised, unto the discernment both of good and of evil.

¹ James, of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ a servant, to the Twelve Tribes who are in the dispersion: Hail!

¹⁶ Be confessing to one another the trespasses, and be praying for one another, that you may be healed; very strong is a working supplication of a righteous man;

¹ Simeon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who did obtain a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:

²⁴ And to Him who is able to guard you not stumbling, and to set you in the presence of His glory unblemished, in gladness,

² for I bear them testimony that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge,

³ because, according to their power, I testify, and above their power, they were willing of themselves,

¹ For I wish you to know how great a conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,

¹⁵ salute you those in Laodicea -- brethren, and Nymphas, and the assembly in his house; ¹⁶ and when the epistle may be read with you, cause that also in the assembly of the Laodiceans it may be read, and the epistle from Laodicea that you also may read;

¹¹ 'I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last; and, what you do see, write in a scroll, and send to the seven assemblies that are in Asia; to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.'

¹⁴ 'And to the messenger of the assembly of the Laodiceans write: These things says the Amen, the witness -- the faithful and true -- the chief of the creation of God; ¹⁵ I have known your works, that neither cold are you nor hot; I would you wert cold or hot. ¹⁶ So -- because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am about to vomit you out of my mouth; ¹⁷ because you sayest -- I am rich, and have grown rich, and have need of nothing, and have not known that you are the wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked, ¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from me gold fired by fire, that you may be rich, and white garments that you may be arrayed, and the shame of your nakedness may not be manifest, and with eye-salve anoint your eyes, that you may see.

¹⁰ for Demas forsook me, having loved the present age, and went on to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia, ¹¹ Lukas only is with me; Markus having taken, bring with yourself, for he is profitable to me for ministration\'7bservice\'7d;

⁵ and the assembly at their house; salute Epaenetus, my beloved, who is first-fruit of Achaia to Christ.

² and Apphia the beloved, and Archippus our fellow-soldier, and the assembly in your house:

²⁷ I charge you by the Lord, that the letter be read to all the holy brethren;

¹⁴ and if any one do not obey our word through the letter, this one note you, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed,

¹⁷ because he was numbered among us, and did receive the share in this ministration,

²³ and having appointed to them by vote elders in every assembly, having prayed with fastings, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

²⁸ 'Take heed, therefore, to yourselves, and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit made you overseers, to feed the assembly of God that He acquired through His own blood,

¹ Let a man so reckon us as officers of Christ, and stewards of the secrets of God, ² and as to the rest, it is required in the stewards that one may be found faithful,

¹¹ and He gave some as apostles\'7bcouriers, ones dispatched\'7d, and some as prophets, and some as proclaimers of good news, and some as shepherds and teachers,

⁶ These things placing before the brethren, you shall be a good minister of Jesus Christ, being nourished by the words of the faith, and of the good teaching, which you did follow after,

¹⁴ be not careless of the gift in you, that was given you through prophecy, with laying on of the hands of the eldership;

¹⁶ take heed to yourself, and to the teaching; remain in them, for this thing doing, both yourself you shall save, and those hearing you.

¹¹ and you, O man of God, these things flee, and pursue righteousness, piety, faith, love, endurance, meekness; ¹² be striving the good strife of the faith, be laying hold on the life age-during, to which also you wast called, and did profess the right profession before many witnesses. ¹³ I charge you, before God, who is making all things alive, and of Christ Jesus, who did testify before Pontius Pilate the right profession, ¹⁴ that you keep the command unspotted, unblameable, till the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

²⁰ O Timothy, the thing entrusted guard you, avoiding the profane vain-words and opposition of the falsely-named knowledge,

⁶ For which cause I remind you to stir up\'7bkindle\'7d the gift of God that is in you through the putting on of my hands,

² and the things that you heard from me through many witnesses, these things be committing\'7bentrusting\'7d to stedfast\'7breliable, faithful, trustworthy, dependable\'7d men, who will be sufficient also others to teach;

¹ I do fully testify, then, before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is about to judge living and dead at his manifestation and his reign -- ² preach the word; be earnest in season, out of season, convict, rebuke, exhort, in all long-suffering and teaching, ³ for there shall be a season when the sound teaching they will not suffer, but according to their own desires to themselves they shall heap up teachers -- itching in the hearing, ⁴ and indeed, from the truth the hearing they shall turn away, and to the fables they shall be turned aside. ⁵ And you -- watch in all things; suffer evil; do the work of one proclaiming good news; of your ministration make full assurance,

²⁰ and the God of the peace shall bruise the Adversary under your feet quickly; the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen!

²³ salute you does Gaius, my host, and of the whole assembly; salute you does Erastus, the steward of the city, and Quartus the brother,

²¹ The salutation of me Paul with my hand;

¹⁴ the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, is with you all! Amen.

³ praying at the same time also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to speak the secret of the Christ, because of which also I have been bound,

¹⁷ The salutation by the hand of me, Paul, which is a sign in every letter; thus I write;

²¹ which certain professing -- concerning the faith did swerve; the grace is with you. Amen.

⁸ therefore you may not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but do you suffer evil along with the good news according to the power of God,

²² The Lord Jesus Christ is with your spirit; the grace is with you! Amen.

¹⁵ Salute\'7bgreet\'7d you do all those with me; salute\'7bgreet\'7d those loving us in faith; the grace is with you all!

³ be mindful of those in bonds, as having been bound with them, of those maltreated, as also yourselves being in the body;
