¹ Also you -- being dead in the trespasses and the sins, ² in which once you did walk according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience, ³ among whom also we all did walk once in the desires of our flesh, doing the wishes\'7bdesires\'7d of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath -- as also the others, ⁴ and God, being rich in kindness, because of His great love with which He loved us, ⁵ even being dead in the trespasses, made us to live together with the Christ, (by grace you are having been saved,) ⁶ and raised us up together, and did seat us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ that He might show, in the ages that are coming, the exceeding\'7bsuperb\'7d riches of His grace in kindness\'7bgoodness\'7d toward us in Christ Jesus, ⁸ for by grace you are having been saved, through faith, and this not of you -- of God the gift, ⁹ not of works, that no one may boast; ¹⁰ for of Him we are workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God did before prepare, that in them we may walk. ¹¹ Therefore, remember, that you were once the nations in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that called Circumcision in the flesh made by hands, ¹² that you were at that time apart from Christ, having been alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope, and without God, in the world; ¹³ and now, in Christ Jesus, you being once afar off became near in the blood of the Christ, ¹⁴ for he is our peace, who did make both one, and the middle wall of the enclosure did break down, ¹⁵ the enmity\'7bhostility\'7d in his flesh, the law of the commands in ordinances having done away, that the two he might create in himself into one new man, making peace, ¹⁶ and might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, having slain the enmity\'7bhostility\'7d in it, ¹⁷ and having come, he did proclaim good news -- peace to you -- the far-off and the near, ¹⁸ because through him we have the access -- we both -- in one Spirit unto the Father. ¹⁹ Then, therefore, you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens of the saints, and of the household of God, ²⁰ being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being chief corner-stone, ²¹ in whom all the building fitly framed together does increase to an holy sanctuary in the Lord, ²² in whom also you are builded together, for a habitation\'7ban abode\'7d of God in the Spirit.

²² and Jesus said to him, 'Follow me, and permit the dead to bury their own dead.'

²⁴ because this my son was dead, and did live again, and he was lost, and was found; and they began to be merry.

³² but to be merry, and to be glad, it was needful, because this your brother was dead, and did live again, he was lost, and was found.'

²¹ 'For, as the Father does raise the dead, and does make alive, so also the Son does make alive whom he wills;

²⁵ 'Verily, verily, I say to you -- There comes an hour, and it now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and those having heard shall live;

¹⁰ 'The thief does not come, except that he may steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.

²⁵ Jesus said to her, 'I am the rising again, and the life; he who is believing in me, even if he may die, shall live; ²⁶ and every one who is living and believing in me shall not die -- to the age;

⁶ Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one does come unto the Father, if not through me;

² for the law of the Spirit of the life in Christ Jesus did set me free from the law of the sin and of the death;

⁴⁵ so also it has been written, 'The first man Adam became a living creature,' the last Adam is for a life-giving spirit,

¹⁴ for the love of the Christ does constrain us, having judged thus: that if one for all died, then the whole died,

¹⁹ and what the exceeding greatness\'7bexcelling magnitude\'7d of His power to us who are believing, according to the working of the power of His might, ²⁰ which He wrought\'7bworked, effected\'7d in the Christ, having raised him out of the dead, and did set him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

⁵ even being dead in the trespasses, made us to live together with the Christ, (by grace you are having been saved,) ⁶ and raised us up together, and did seat us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

¹⁸ being darkened in the understanding, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart,

¹⁴ wherefore he says, 'Arouse yourself, you who are sleeping, and arise out of the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon you.'

¹³ And you -- being dead in the trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh -- He made alive together with him, having forgiven you all the trespasses,

¹ If, then, you were raised with the Christ, the things above seek you, where the Christ is, on the right hand of God seated, ² the things above mind you, not the things upon the earth, ³ for you did die, and your life has been hid with the Christ in God; ⁴ when the Christ -- our life -- may be manifested, then also we with him shall be manifested in glory.

⁶ and she who is given to luxury, living -- has died;

¹⁴ we -- we have known that we have passed out of the death to the life, because we love the brethren; he who is not loving the brother does remain in the death.

¹ And to the messenger of the assembly in Sardis write: These things says he who is having the Seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars: I have known your works, and that you have the name that you do live, and you are dead;

¹⁹ the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, Lo, a man, a glutton, and a wine-drinker, a friend of tax-gatherers and sinners, and wisdom was justified of her children.'

⁴³ 'And, when the unclean spirit may go forth from the man, it does walk through dry places seeking rest, and does not find; ⁴⁴ then it said, I will turn back to my house from which I came forth; and having come, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and adorned: ⁴⁵ then does it go, and take with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and having gone in they dwell there, and the last of that man does become worse than the first; so shall it be also to this evil generation.'

³⁸ and the field is the world, and the good seed, these are the sons of the reign, and the darnel are the sons of the evil one,

²¹ 'When the strong man armed may keep his hall, in peace are his goods; ²² but when the stronger than he, having come upon him, may overcome him, his whole-armour he does take away in which he had trusted, and his spoils he distributes; ²³ he who is not with me is against me, and he who is not gathering with me does scatter. ²⁴ 'When the unclean spirit may go forth from the man it walks through waterless places seeking rest, and not finding, it says, I will turn back to my house whence I came forth; ²⁵ and having come, it finds it swept and adorned; ²⁶ then does it go, and take to it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and having entered, they dwell there, and the last of that man becomes worst than the first.'

⁸ 'And the lord commended the unrighteous steward that he did prudently, because the sons of this age are more prudent than the sons of the light, in respect to their generation.

² and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they may take him up, for they were afraid of the people. ³ And the Adversary entered into Judas, who is surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve,

³¹ And the Lord said, 'Simon, Simon, lo, the Adversary did ask you for himself to sift as the wheat,

⁷ the world is not able to hate you, but me it does hate, because I testify concerning it that its works are evil.

²³ and he said to them, 'You are from beneath, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world;

⁴⁴ 'You are of a father -- the devil, and the desires of your father you will to do; he was a man-slayer from the beginning, and in the truth he has not stood, because there is no truth in him; when one may speak the falsehood, of his own he speaks, because he is a liar -- also his father.

³¹ now is a judgment of this world, now shall the ruler of this world be cast forth;

² And supper being come, the devil already having put it into the heart of Judas of Simon, Iscariot, that he may deliver him up,

²⁷ And after the morsel, then the Adversary entered into that one, Jesus, therefore, said to him, 'What you do -- do quickly;'

³⁰ I will no more talk much with you, for the ruler of this world does come, and in me he has nothing;

¹⁹ if of the world you were, the world its own would have been loving, and because of the world you are not -- but I chose out of the world -- because of this the world hates you.

¹¹ and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

³ And Peter said, 'Ananias, therefore did the Adversary fill your heart, for you to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back of the price of the place?

³⁵ And the public clerk having quieted the multitude, said, 'Men, Ephesians, why, who is the man that does not know that the city of the Ephesians is a devotee of the great goddess Artemis, and of that which fell down from Zeus?

² and be not conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, for your proving what is the will of God -- the good, and acceptable, and perfect.

¹⁰ and not certainly with the whoremongers of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, seeing you ought then to go forth out of the world --

¹¹ And certain of you were these! but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were declared righteous, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.

⁴ in whom the god of this age did blind the minds of the unbelieving, that there does not shine forth to them the enlightening of the good news of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God;

⁴ who did give himself for our sins, that he might deliver us out of the present evil age, according to the will of God even our Father,

³ among whom also we all did walk once in the desires of our flesh, doing the wishes\'7bdesires\'7d of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath -- as also the others,

²² you are to put off concerning the former behaviour the old man\'7bperson\'7d, that is corrupt according to the desires of the deceit,

⁶ Let no one deceive you with vain words, for because of these things comes the anger of God upon the sons of the disobedience,

¹² because we have not the wrestling with blood and flesh, but with the principalities, with the authorities, with the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, with the spiritual things of the evil in the heavenly places;

²¹ And you -- once being alienated, and enemies in the mind, in the evil works, yet now did he reconcile,

⁶ because of which things cometh the anger of God upon the sons of the disobedience, ⁷ in which also you -- you did walk once, when you lived in them;

¹⁰ for Demas forsook me, having loved the present age, and went on to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia,

⁷ for let not that man suppose that he shall receive anything from the Lord --

⁴ Adulterers and adulteresses! have you not known that friendship of the world is enmity with God? whoever, then, may counsel to be a friend of the world, an enemy of God he is set.

¹⁴ as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves to the former desires in your ignorance,

³ for sufficient to us is the past time of life the will of the nations to have wrought, having walked in lasciviousnesses, desires, excesses of wines, revellings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries,

¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery, and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having an heart exercised in covetousnesses, children of a curse, ¹⁵ Love not you the world, nor the things in the world; if any one does love the world, the love of the Father is not in him, ¹⁶ because all that is in the world -- the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the ostentation of the life -- is not of the Father, but of the world, ¹⁷ and the world does pass away, and the desire of it, and he who is doing the will of God, he does remain -- to the age.

⁸ he who is doing the sin, of the devil he is, because from the beginning the devil does sin; for this was the Son of God manifested, that he may break up the works of the devil;

¹⁰ In this manifest are the children of God, and the children of the devil; every one who is not doing righteousness, is not of God, and he who is not loving his brother,

⁴ You -- of God you are, little children, and you have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you, than he who is in the world.

⁴ because every one who is begotten of God does overcome the world, and this is the victory that did overcome the world -- our faith;

¹⁹ we have known that of God we are, and the whole world in the evil does lie;

⁹ and the great dragon was cast forth -- the old serpent, who is called 'Devil,' and 'the Adversary,' who is leading astray the whole world -- he was cast forth to the earth, and his messengers were cast forth with him.

⁸ And bow before it shall all who are dwelling upon the land, whose names have not been written in the scroll of the life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

¹⁴ and it leads astray those dwelling on the land, because of the signs that were given it to do before the beast, saying to those dwelling upon the land to make an image to the beast that has the stroke of the sword and did live,

¹⁷ And the seventh messenger did pour out his vial to the air, and there came forth a great voice from the sanctuary of the heaven, from the throne, saying, 'It has come!'

² and he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, who is Devil and Adversary, and did bind him a thousand years,

¹⁹ and the anxieties of this age, and the deceitfulness of the riches, and the desires concerning the other things, entering in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

²¹ for from within, out of the heart of men, the evil reasonings do come forth, adulteries, whoredoms, murders, ²² thefts, covetous desires, wickedness, deceit, arrogance, an evil eye, evil speaking, pride, foolishness;

¹³ who -- not of blood nor of a will of flesh, nor of a will of man but -- of God were begotten.

¹ And there was a man of the Pharisees, Nicodemus his name, a ruler of the Jews, ² this one came unto him by night, and said to him, 'Rabbi, we have known that from God you have come -- a teacher, for no one these signs is able to do that you do, if God may not be with him.' ³ Jesus answered and said to him, 'Verily, verily, I say to you, If any one may not be born from above, he is not able to see the reign of God;' ⁴ Nicodemus said unto him, 'How is a man able to be born, being old? is he able into the womb of his mother a second time to enter, and to be born?' ⁵ Jesus answered, 'Verily, verily, I say to you, If any one may not be born of water, and the Spirit, he is not able to enter into the reign of God; ⁶ that which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.

¹⁶ who in the past generations did suffer all the nations to go on in their ways,

³⁰ the times, indeed, therefore, of the ignorance God having overlooked, does now command all men everywhere to reform, ³¹ because He did set a day in which He is about to judge the world in righteousness, by a man whom He did ordain, having given assurance to all, having raised him out of the dead.'

²⁴ Therefore also God did give them up, in the desires of their hearts, to uncleanness, to dishonour their bodies among themselves;

⁹ What, then? are we better? not at all! for we did before charge both Jews and Greeks with being all under sin, ¹⁰ according as it has been written -- 'There is none righteous, not even one; ¹¹ There is none who is understanding, there is none who is seeking after God. ¹² All did go out of the way, together they became unprofitable, there is none doing good, there is not even one. ¹³ A sepulchre opened is their throat; with their tongues they used deceit; poison of asps is under their lips. ¹⁴ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. ¹⁵ Swift are their feet to shed blood. ¹⁶ Ruin and misery are in their ways. ¹⁷ And a way of peace they did not know. ¹⁸ There is no fear of God before their eyes.' ¹⁹ And we have known that as many things as the law says, to those in the law it does speak, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may come under judgment to God;

²² and the righteousness of God is through the faith of Jesus Christ to all, and upon all those believing, -- for there is no difference, ²³ for all did sin, and are come short of the glory of God --

¹² because of this, even as through one man the sin did enter into the world, and through the sin the death; and thus to all men the death did pass through, for that all did sin; ¹³ for till law sin was in the world: and sin is not reckoned when there is not law; ¹⁴ but the death did reign from Adam till Moses, even upon those not having sinned in the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is a type of him who is coming. ¹⁵ But, not as the offence so also is the free gift; for if by the offence of the one the many did die, much more did the grace of God, and the free gift in grace of the one man Jesus Christ, abound to the many; ¹⁶ and not as through one who did sin is the free gift, for the judgment indeed is of one to condemnation, but the gift is of many offences to a declaration of 'Righteous,' ¹⁷ for if by the offence of the one the death did reign through the one, much more those, who the abundance of the grace and of the free gift of the righteousness are receiving, in life shall reign through the one -- Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ So, then, as through one offence to all men it is to condemnation, so also through one declaration of 'Righteous' it is to all men to justification of life; ¹⁹ for as through the disobedience of the one man, the many were constituted sinners: so also through the obedience of the one, shall the many be constituted righteous.

¹² Let not then the sin reign in your mortal body, to obey it in its desires;

¹⁸ for I have known that there does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh, good: for to will is present with me, and to work that which is right I do not find,

⁷ because the mind of the flesh is enmity to God, for to the law of God it does not subject itself, ⁸ for neither is it able; and those who are in the flesh are not able to please God.

²² And if God, willing to show the wrath and to make known His power, did endure, in much long suffering, vessels of wrath fitted for destruction,

³⁰ for as you also once did not believe in God, and now did find kindness by the unbelief of these:

¹⁴ but put you on the Lord Jesus Christ, and for the flesh take no forethought -- for desires.

⁷ for who does make you to differ? and what have you, that you did not receive? and if you did also receive, why do you glory as not having received?

⁹ have you not known that the unrighteous the reign of God shall not inherit? be not led astray; neither whoremongers, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, the reign of God shall inherit. ¹¹ And certain of you were these! but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were declared righteous, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.

¹ Having, then, these promises, beloved, may we cleanse ourselves from every pollution of flesh and spirit, perfecting sanctification in the fear of God;

¹⁵ we by nature Jews, and not sinners of the nations, ¹⁶ having known also that a man is not declared righteous by works of law, if not through the faith of Jesus Christ, also we in Christ Jesus did believe, that we might be declared righteous by the faith of Christ, and not by works of law, wherefore declared righteous by works of law shall be no flesh.'

²² but the Writing did shut up the whole under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ may be given to those believing.

¹⁶ And I say: In the Spirit walk you, and the desire of the flesh you may not complete; ¹⁷ for the flesh does desire contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit contrary to the flesh, and these are opposed one to another, that the things that you may will -- these you may not do; ¹⁸ and if by the Spirit you are led, you are not under law. ¹⁹ And manifest also are the works of the flesh, which are: Adultery, whoredom, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strifes, emulations, wraths, rivalries, dissensions, sects, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revellings, and such like, of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that those doing such things the reign of God shall not inherit. ²² And the fruit of the Spirit is: Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, ²³ meekness, temperance: against such there is no law; ²⁴ and those who are Christ's, the flesh did crucify with the affections, and the desires;

² in which once you did walk according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience,

¹⁷ This, then, I say, and I testify in the Lord; you are no more to walk, as also the other nations walk, in the vanity of their mind, ¹⁸ being darkened in the understanding, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart, ¹⁹ who, having ceased to feel, themselves did give up to the lasciviousness\'7blewdness\'7d, for the working of all uncleanness\'7bimpurity\'7d in greediness;

⁹ and those wishing to be rich, do fall into temptation and a snare, and many desires, foolish and hurtful, that sink men into ruin and destruction,

³ for we were once -- also we -- thoughtless, disobedient, led astray, serving desires and pleasures manifold\'7bmany\'7d, in malice and envy living, odious -- hating one another;

¹ Whence are wars and fightings among you? not thence -- out of your passions, that are as soldiers in your members? ² you desire, and you have not; you murder, and are zealous, and are not able to attain; you fight and war, and you have not, because of your not asking; ³ you ask, and you receive not, because evilly you ask, that in your pleasures you may spend it.

¹⁰ who were once not a people, and are now the people of God; who had not found kindness, and now have found kindness. ¹¹ Beloved, I call upon you, as strangers and sojourners, to keep from the fleshly desires, that war against the soul,

² no more in the desires of men, but in the will of God, to live the rest of the time in the flesh; ³ for sufficient to us is the past time of life the will of the nations to have wrought, having walked in lasciviousnesses, desires, excesses of wines, revellings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries,

¹⁸ for overswellings of vanity speaking, they do entice in desires of the flesh -- lasciviousnesses, those who had truly escaped from those conducting themselves in error,

⁸ if we may say -- 'we have not sin,' ourselves we lead astray, and the truth is not in us; ⁹ if we may confess our sins, steadfast He is and righteous that He may forgive us the sins, and may cleanse us from every unrighteousness; ¹⁰ if we may say -- 'we have not sinned,' a liar we make Him, and His word is not in us.

⁸ again, a new command I write to you, which thing is true in him and in you, because the darkness does pass away, and the true light does now shine;

¹⁶ because all that is in the world -- the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the ostentation of the life -- is not of the Father, but of the world,

¹⁶ These are murmurers, repiners; according to their desires walking, and their mouth does speak great swellings, giving admiration to persons for the sake of profit; ¹⁷ and you, beloved, remember you the sayings spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: ¹⁸ that they said to you, that in the last time there shall be scoffers, after their own desires of impieties going on,

⁷⁸ Through the tender mercies of our God, In which the rising from on high did look upon us,

¹⁴ 'And as Moses did lift up the serpent in the wilderness, so it behooves the Son of Man to be lifted up, ¹⁵ that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during, ¹⁶ for God did so love the world, that His Son -- the only begotten -- He gave, that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during. ¹⁷ For God did not send His Son to the world that he may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through him;

⁴ or the riches of His goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering, do you despise? -- not knowing that the goodness of God does lead you to reformation!

⁸ and God does commend His own love to us, that, in our being still sinners, Christ did die for us;

²⁰ And law came in, that the offence might abound, and where the sin did abound, the grace did overabound, ²¹ that even as the sin did reign in the death, so also the grace may reign, through righteousness, to life age-during, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁵ for to Moses He says, 'I will do kindness to whom I do kindness, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion;' ¹⁶ so, then -- not of him who is willing, nor of him who is running, but of God who is doing kindness:

²³ and that He might make known the riches of His glory on vessels of kindness, that He before prepared for glory, whom also He did call -- us --

¹² for there is no difference between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord of all is rich to all those calling upon Him,

⁷ in whom we have the redemption\'7bliberation\'7d through his blood, the remission\'7bpardoning\'7d of the trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,

⁷ that He might show, in the ages that are coming, the exceeding\'7bsuperb\'7d riches of His grace in kindness\'7bgoodness\'7d toward us in Christ Jesus,

⁸ to me -- the less than the least of all the saints -- was given this grace, among the nations to proclaim good news -- the untraceable riches of the Christ,

¹³ And we -- we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, that God did choose you from the beginning to salvation, in sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth,

¹⁴ and exceedingly abound did the grace of our Lord, with faith and love that is in Christ Jesus:

⁹ who did save us, and did call with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, that was given to us in Christ Jesus, before the times of the ages,

⁴ and when the kindness and the love to men of God our Saviour did appear ⁵ (not by works that are in righteousness that we did but according to His kindness,) He did save us, through a bathing of regeneration, and a renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ which He poured upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour, ⁷ that having been declared righteous by His grace, heirs we may become according to the hope of life age-during.

³ Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to the abundance of His kindness did beget us again to a living hope, through the rising again of Jesus Christ out of the dead,

¹⁰ in this is the love, not that we loved God, but that He did love us, and did send His Son a propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if thus did God love us, we also ought one another to love; ¹² God no one has ever seen; if we may love one another, God in us does remain, and His love is having been perfected in us; ¹³ in this we know that in Him we do remain, and He in us, because of His Spirit He has given us. ¹⁴ And we -- we have seen and do testify, that the Father has sent the Son -- Savior of the world; ¹⁵ whoever may confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God in him does remain, and he in God; ¹⁶ and we -- we have known and believed the love, that God has in us; God is love, and he who is remaining in the love, in God he does remain, and God in him. ¹⁷ In this made perfect has been the love with us, that boldness we may have in the day of the judgment, because even as He is, we -- we also are in this world; ¹⁸ fear is not in the love, but the perfect love does cast out the fear, because the fear has punishment, and he who is fearing has not been made perfect in the love; ¹⁹ we -- we love him, because He -- He first loved us;

⁶³ the spirit it is that is giving life; the flesh does not profit anything; the sayings that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life;

¹¹ but, through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we believe to be saved, even as also they.'

²⁴ being declared righteous freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

¹⁶ Because of this it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, for the promise being sure to all the seed, not to that which is of the law only, but also to that which is of the faith of Abraham,

⁶ For in our being still ailing, Christ in due time did die for the impious;

¹⁰ for if, being enemies, we have been reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved in his life.

⁵ So then also in the present time a remnant according to the choice of grace there has been; ⁶ and if by grace, no more of works, otherwise the grace becomes no more grace; and if of works, it is no more grace, otherwise the work is no more work.

²⁰ and the God of the peace shall bruise the Adversary under your feet quickly; the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen!

¹⁴ the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, is with you all! Amen.

¹ Also you -- being dead in the trespasses and the sins,

⁸ for by grace you are having been saved, through faith, and this not of you -- of God the gift,

¹¹ For the saving grace of God was manifested to all men,

⁵ (not by works that are in righteousness that we did but according to His kindness,) He did save us, through a bathing of regeneration, and a renewing of the Holy Spirit,

²¹ The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is with you all. Amen.

²⁹ and I say to you, that I may not drink henceforth on this produce of the vine, till that day when I may drink it with you new in the reign of my Father.'

³⁷ 'Happy those servants, whom the lord, having come, shall find watching; verily I say to you, that he will gird himself, and will cause them to recline (at meat), and having come near, will minister to them;

²⁹ and I appoint to you, as my Father did appoint to me, a kingdom, ³⁰ that you may eat and may drink at my table, in my kingdom, and may sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.'

²⁶ if any one may minister to me, let him follow me, and where I am, there also my ministrant shall be; and if any one may minister to me -- honour him will the Father.

³ and if I go on and prepare for you a place, again do I come, and will receive you unto myself, that where I am you also may be;

²¹ that they all may be one, as You Father art in me, and I in You; that they also in us may be one, that the world may believe that You did send me. ²² 'And I, the glory that you have given to me, have given to them, that they may be one as we are one; ²³ I in them, and You in me, that they may be perfected into one, and that the world may know that You did send me, and did love them as You did love me. ²⁴ 'Father, those whom You have given to me, I will that where I am they also may be with me, that they may behold my glory that You did give to me, because You did love me before the foundation of the world. ²⁵ 'Righteous Father, also the world did not know You, and I knew You, and these have known that You did send me, ²⁶ and I made known to them Your name, and will make known, that the love with which You lovedst me in them may be, and I in them.'

⁴ we were buried together, then, with him through the baptism to the death, that even as Christ was raised up out of the dead through the glory of the Father, so also we in newness of life might walk. ⁵ For, if we have become planted together to the likeness of his death, so also we shall be of the rising again;

³ Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who blessed us in every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

¹⁸ And himself is the head of the body -- the assembly -- who is a beginning, a first-born out of the dead, that he might become in all things -- himself -- first,

¹² being buried with him in the baptism, in which also you rose with him through the faith of the working of God, who did raise him out of the dead. ¹³ And you -- being dead in the trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh -- He made alive together with him, having forgiven you all the trespasses,

¹ If, then, you were raised with the Christ, the things above seek you, where the Christ is, on the right hand of God seated, ² the things above mind you, not the things upon the earth, ³ for you did die, and your life has been hid with the Christ in God;

²⁰ lo, I have stood at the door, and I knock; if any one may hear my voice, and may open the door, I will come in unto him, and will sup with him, and he with me. ²¹ He who is overcoming -- I will give to him to sit with me in my throne, as I also did overcome and did sit down with my Father in His throne.

⁴ and God, being rich in kindness, because of His great love with which He loved us,

⁵ which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it was now revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit --

²¹ to Him is the glory in the assembly in Christ Jesus, to all the generations of the age of the ages. Amen.

¹² that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ but because of this I found kindness, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all long-suffering, for a pattern of those about to believe on him to life age-during: ¹⁷ and to the King of the ages, the incorruptible, invisible, only wise God, is honour and glory -- to the ages of the ages! Amen.

⁴ and when the kindness and the love to men of God our Saviour did appear

¹² to whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to us they were ministering these, which now were told to you (through those who did proclaim good news to you,) in the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, to which things messengers do desire to bend looking.

⁹ and they sing a new song, saying, 'Worthy are you to take the scroll, and to open the seals of it, because you were slain, and did redeem us to God in your blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation, ¹⁰ and did make us to our God kings and priests, and we shall reign upon the earth.' ¹¹ And I saw, and I heard the voice of many messengers round the throne, and the living creatures, and the elders -- and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands -- ¹² saying with a great voice, 'Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing!' ¹³ and every creature that is in the heaven, and in the earth, and under the earth, and the things that are upon the sea, and the all things in them, heard I saying, 'To Him who is sitting upon the throne, and to the Lamb, is the blessing, and the honour, and the glory, and the might -- to the ages of the ages!' ¹⁴ and the four living creatures said, 'Amen!' and the twenty-four elders fell down and they bow before Him who is living to the ages of the ages.

¹⁷ And Jesus answering said to him, 'Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona, because flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but my Father who is in the heavens.

¹⁶ he who has believed, and has been baptized, shall be saved; and he who has not believed, shall be condemned.

⁵⁰ and he said unto the woman, 'Your faith have saved you, be going on to peace.'

¹² but as many as did receive him to them he gave authority to become sons of God -- to those believing in his name, ¹³ who -- not of blood nor of a will of flesh, nor of a will of man but -- of God were begotten.

¹⁴ 'And as Moses did lift up the serpent in the wilderness, so it behooves the Son of Man to be lifted up, ¹⁵ that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during, ¹⁶ for God did so love the world, that His Son -- the only begotten -- He gave, that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during. ¹⁷ For God did not send His Son to the world that he may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through him; ¹⁸ he who is believing in him is not judged, but he who is not believing has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

³⁶ he who is believing in the Son, has life age-during; and he who is not believing the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God does remain upon him.'

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to her, 'If you hadst known the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, Give me to drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.'

²⁴ 'Verily, verily, I say to you -- He who is hearing my word, and is believing Him who sent me, has life age-during, and to judgment he does not come, but has passed out of the death to the life.

²⁷ work not for the food that is perishing, but for the food that is remaining to life age-during, which the Son of Man will give to you, for him did the Father seal -- even God.' ²⁸ They said therefore unto him, 'What may we do that we may work the works of God?' ²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, 'This is the work of God, that you may believe in him whom He did send.'

³⁵ And Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of the life; he who is coming unto me may not hunger, and he who is believing in me may not thirst -- at any time;

³⁷ all that the Father does give to me will come unto me; and him who is coming unto me, I may in no wise cast without,

⁴⁰ and this is the will of Him who sent me, that every one who is beholding the Son, and is believing in him, may have life age-during, and I will raise him up in the last day.'

⁴⁴ no one is able to come unto me, if the Father who sent me may not draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day;

⁶⁵ and he said, 'Because of this I have said to you -- No one is able to come unto me, if it may not have been given him from my Father.'

³⁹ and from all things from which you were not able in the law of Moses to be declared righteous, in this one every one who is believing is declared righteous;

²⁷ and having come and gathered together the assembly, they declared as many things as God did with them, and that He did open to the nations a door of faith;

⁷ and there having been much disputing, Peter having risen up said unto them, 'Men, brethren, you know that from former days, God among us did make choice, through my mouth, for the nations to hear the word of the good news, and to believe; ⁸ and the heart-knowing God did bare them testimony, having given to them the Holy Spirit, even as also to us, ⁹ and did put no difference also between us and them, by the faith having purified their hearts;

¹⁴ and a certain woman, by name Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, worshipping God, was hearing, whose heart the Lord did open to attend to the things spoken by Paul;

³¹ and they said, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved -- you and your house;'

²² and the righteousness of God is through the faith of Jesus Christ to all, and upon all those believing, -- for there is no difference, ²³ for all did sin, and are come short of the glory of God -- ²⁴ being declared righteous freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, ²⁵ whom God did set forth a mercy seat, through the faith in his blood, for the showing forth of His righteousness, because of the passing over of the bygone sins in the forbearance of God -- ²⁶ for the showing forth of His righteousness in the present time, for His being righteous, and declaring him righteous who is of the faith of Jesus.

⁵ and to him who is not working, and is believing upon Him who is declaring righteous the impious, his faith is reckoned -- to righteousness:

⁹ that if you may confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and may believe in your heart that God did raise him out of the dead, you shall be saved, ¹⁰ for with the heart does one believe to righteousness, and with the mouth is confession made to salvation;

¹⁴ How then shall they call upon him in whom they did not believe? and how shall they believe on him of whom they did not hear? and how shall they hear apart from one preaching?

¹⁷ so then the faith is by a report, and the report through a saying of God,

¹⁴ that to the nations the blessing of Abraham may come in Christ Jesus, that the promise of the Spirit we may receive through the faith.

¹⁹ and what the exceeding greatness\'7bexcelling magnitude\'7d of His power to us who are believing, according to the working of the power of His might,

⁵ even being dead in the trespasses, made us to live together with the Christ, (by grace you are having been saved,)

¹⁰ for of Him we are workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God did before prepare, that in them we may walk.

²⁹ because to you it was granted, on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also on behalf of him to suffer;

¹² being buried with him in the baptism, in which also you rose with him through the faith of the working of God, who did raise him out of the dead.

⁹ who shall suffer justice -- destruction age-during -- from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of his strength,

¹⁶ Be not led astray, my brethren beloved; ¹⁷ every good giving, and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the lights, with whom is no variation, or shadow of turning; ¹⁸ having counselled, He did beget us with a word of truth, for our being a certain first-fruit of His creatures.

⁵ who, in the power of God are being guarded, through faith, unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time,

¹⁰ He who is believing in the Son of God, has the testimony in himself; he who is not believing God, a liar has made Him, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has testified concerning His Son; ¹¹ and this is the testimony, that life age-during did God give to us, and this -- the life -- is in His Son; ¹² he who is having the Son, has the life; he who is not having the Son of God -- the life he has not.

²⁰ therefore by works of law shall no flesh be declared righteous before Him, for through law is a knowledge of sin.

²⁷ Where then is the boasting? it was excluded; by what law? of works? no, but by a law of faith: ²⁸ therefore do we reckon a man to be declared righteous by faith, apart from works of law.

² for if Abraham by works was declared righteous, he has to boast -- but not before God;

¹¹ (for they being not yet born, neither having done anything good or evil, that the purpose of God, according to choice, might remain; not of works, but of Him who is calling,) it was said to her --

¹⁶ so, then -- not of him who is willing, nor of him who is running, but of God who is doing kindness:

⁶ and if by grace, no more of works, otherwise the grace becomes no more grace; and if of works, it is no more grace, otherwise the work is no more work.

²⁹ that no flesh may glory before Him; ³⁰ and of Him you -- you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us from God wisdom, righteousness also, and sanctification, and redemption, ³¹ that, according as it has been written, 'He who is glorying -- in the Lord let him glory.'

³ for we were once -- also we -- thoughtless, disobedient, led astray, serving desires and pleasures manifold\'7bmany\'7d, in malice and envy living, odious -- hating one another; ⁴ and when the kindness and the love to men of God our Saviour did appear ⁵ (not by works that are in righteousness that we did but according to His kindness,) He did save us, through a bathing of regeneration, and a renewing of the Holy Spirit,

¹⁶ so let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and may glorify your Father who is in the heavens.

²¹ but he who is doing the truth does come to the light, that his works may be manifested, that in God they are having been wrought.'

³¹ Then, indeed, the assemblies throughout all Judea, and Galilee, and Samaria, had peace, being built up, and, going on in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.

³⁶ And in Joppa there was a certain female disciple, by name Tabitha, (which interpreted, is called Dorcas,) this woman was full of good works and kind acts that she was doing;

¹ There is, then, now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit;

²⁹ because whom He did foreknow, He also did fore-appoint, conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be first-born among many brethren;

⁹ for of God we are fellow-workmen; God's tillage, God's building you are.

⁵ And He who did work us to this self-same thing is God, who also did give to us the earnest of the Spirit;

¹⁷ so that if any one is in Christ -- he is a new creature; the old things did pass away, lo, become new have the all things.

⁸ and God is able all grace to cause to abound to you, that in every thing always all sufficiency having, you may abound to every good work,

¹⁵ for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation;

⁴ according as He chose us in him before the foundation of the world, for our being holy and unblemished before Him, in love,

¹ Call upon you, then, do I -- the prisoner of the Lord -- to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,

²⁴ and to put on the new man, which, according to God, was created in righteousness and kindness of the truth.

⁶ having been confident of this very thing, that He who did begin in you a good work, will perform it till a day of Jesus Christ,

¹³ for God it is who is working in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

¹⁰ to your walking worthily of the Lord to all pleasing, in every good work being fruitful, and increasing to the knowledge of God,

¹⁰ and having put on the new, which is renewed in regard to knowledge, after the image of Him who did create him;

¹⁷ comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.

¹⁰ but -- which becomes women professing godly piety -- through good works.

¹⁰ in good works being testified to: if she brought up children, if she entertained strangers, if saints' feet she washed, if those in tribulation she relieved, if every good work she followed after;

²⁵ in like manner also the right works are manifest beforehand, and those that are otherwise are not able to be hid.

¹⁸ to do good, to be rich in good works, to be ready to impart, willing to communicate,

²¹ if, then, any one may cleanse himself from these, he shall be a vessel to honour, sanctified and profitable to the master -- to every good work having been prepared,

¹⁷ that the man\'7bperson\'7d of God may be fitted\'7bequipped\'7d -- for every good work having been completed.

⁷ concerning all things yourself showing a pattern\'7ban example\'7d of good works; in the teaching uncorruptedness, gravity, incorruptibility,

¹⁴ who did give himself for us, that he might ransom us from all lawlessness, and might purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works;

¹ Remind them to be subject to principalities and authorities, to obey rule, unto every good work to be ready,

⁸ Stedfast is the word; and concerning these things I counsel you to affirm fully, that they may be thoughtful, to be leading in good works -- who have believed God; these are the good and profitable things to men,

¹⁴ and let them learn -- ours also -- to be leading in good works to the necessary uses, that they may not be unfruitful.

²⁴ and may we consider one another to provoke to love and to good works,

²¹ make you perfect in every good work to do His will, doing in you that which is well-pleasing before Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory -- to the ages of the ages! Amen.

¹² having your behaviour among the nations right, that in that which they speak against you as evil-doers, of the good works having beheld, they may glorify God in a day of inspection.

⁷ and if in the light we may walk, as He is in the light -- we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son does cleanse us from every sin;

⁶ He who is saying in him he does remain, ought according as he walked also himself so to walk.

²⁸ For he is not a Jew who is so outwardly, neither is circumcision that which is outward in flesh; ²⁹ but a Jew is he who is so inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart, in spirit, not in letter, of which the praise is not of men, but of God.

² you have known that you were nations, unto the dumb idols -- as you were led -- being carried away;

¹⁵ we by nature Jews, and not sinners of the nations,

⁸ But then, indeed, not having known God, you were in servitude to those not by nature gods, ⁹ and now, having known God -- and rather being known by God -- how turn you again unto the weak and poor elements to which anew you desire to be in servitude?

¹² as many as are willing to make a good appearance in the flesh, these constrain you to be circumcised -- only that for the cross of the Christ they may not be persecuted,

⁸ for you were once darkness, and now light in the Lord; as children of light walk you,

³ for we are the circumcision, who by the Spirit are serving God, and glorying in Christ Jesus, and in flesh having no trust,

¹¹ in whom also you were circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh in the circumcision of the Christ,

¹¹ where there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, foreigner, Scythian, servant, freeman -- but the all and in all -- Christ.

⁷² To do kindness with our fathers, And to be mindful of His holy covenant,

²² you worship what you have not known; we worship what we have known, because the salvation is of the Jews;

¹⁶ and other sheep I have that are not of this fold, these also it behooves me to bring, and my voice they will hear, and there shall become one flock -- one shepherd.

⁵ 'I am the vine, you the branches; he who is remaining in me, and I in him, this one does bear much fruit, because apart from me you are not able to do anything;

²⁵ 'You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant that God made unto our fathers, saying unto Abraham: And in your seed shall be blessed all the families of the earth;

¹⁵ and saying, 'Men, why these things do you? and we are men like-affected with you, proclaiming good news to you, from these vanities to turn unto the living God, who made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all the things in them; ¹⁶ who in the past generations did suffer all the nations to go on in their ways,

²⁰ for this cause, therefore, I called for you to see and to speak with you, for because of the hope of Israel with this chain I am bound.'

²⁸ And, according as they did not approve of having God in knowledge, God gave them up to a disapproved mind, to do the things not seemly; ²⁹ having been filled with all unrighteousness, whoredom, wickedness, covetousness, malice; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil dispositions; whisperers, ³⁰ evil-speakers, God-haters, insulting, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, ³¹ unintelligent, faithless, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful; ³² who the righteous judgment of God having known -- that those practising such things are worthy of death -- not only do them, but also have delight with those practising them.

⁴ who are Israelites, whose is the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the lawgiving, and the service, and the promises, ⁵ whose are the fathers, and of whom is the Christ, according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed to the ages. Amen.

⁸ that is, the children of the flesh -- these are not children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for seed;

⁴ Concerning the eating then of the things sacrificed to idols, we have known that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God except one; ⁵ for even if there are those called gods, whether in heaven, whether upon earth -- as there are gods many and lords many -- ⁶ yet to us is one God, the Father, of whom are the all things, and we to Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are the all things, and we through Him;

¹⁹ what then do I say? that an idol is anything? or that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything? -- ²⁰ no, but that the things that the nations sacrifice -- they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not wish you to come into the fellowship of the demons.

¹⁶ and to Abraham were the promises spoken, and to his seed; He does not say, 'And to seeds,' as of many, but as of one, 'And to thy seed,' which is Christ; ¹⁷ and this I say, A covenant confirmed before by God to Christ, the law, that came four hundred and thirty years after, does not set aside, to make void the promise,

⁸ But then, indeed, not having known God, you were in servitude to those not by nature gods,

⁵ because of the hope that is laid up for you in the heavens, which you heard of before in the word of the truth of the good news,

²⁷ to whom God did will to make known what is the riches of the glory of this secret among the nations -- which is Christ in you, the hope of the glory,

⁵ not in the affection of desire, as also the nations that were not knowing God,

¹³ And I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, that you may not sorrow, as also the rest who have not hope,

¹⁶ and may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and our God and Father, who did love us, and did give comfort age-during, and good hope in grace,

¹ Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to a command of God our Saviour, and of the Lord Jesus Christ our hope,

¹⁸ that through two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, a strong comfort we may have who did flee for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us,

³⁴ quenched the power of fire, escaped the mouth of the sword, were made powerful out of infirmities, became strong in battle, caused to give way camps of the aliens.

²¹ who through him do believe in God, who did raise out of the dead, and glory to him did give, so that your faith and hope may be in God.

¹⁵ and the Lord God sanctify in your hearts. And be ready always for defence to every one who is asking of you an account concerning the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

³ and every one who is having this hope on him, does purify himself, even as he is pure.

³⁹ for to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.'

¹⁴ Simeon did declare how at first God did look after to take out of the nations a people for His name,

²¹ and he said unto me, Go, because to nations far off I will send you.'

¹⁸ to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of the Adversary unto God, for their receiving forgiveness of sins, and a lot among those having been sanctified, by faith that is toward me.

²³ for all did sin, and are come short of the glory of God -- ²⁴ being declared righteous freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, ²⁵ whom God did set forth a mercy seat, through the faith in his blood, for the showing forth of His righteousness, because of the passing over of the bygone sins in the forbearance of God -- ²⁶ for the showing forth of His righteousness in the present time, for His being righteous, and declaring him righteous who is of the faith of Jesus. ²⁷ Where then is the boasting? it was excluded; by what law? of works? no, but by a law of faith: ²⁸ therefore do we reckon a man to be declared righteous by faith, apart from works of law. ²⁹ The God of Jews only is He, and not also of nations? ³⁰ yes, also of nations; since one is God who shall declare righteous the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through the faith.

⁹ much more, then, having been declared righteous now in his blood, we shall be saved through him from the wrath; ¹⁰ for if, being enemies, we have been reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved in his life.

⁸ And I say Jesus Christ to have become a ministrant of circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises to the fathers, ⁹ and the nations for kindness to glorify God, according as it has been written, 'Because of this I will confess to You among nations, and to Your name I will sing praise,' ¹⁰ and again it says, 'Rejoice you nations, with His people;' ¹¹ and again, 'Praise the Lord, all you nations; and laud Him, all you peoples;' ¹² and again, Isaiah says, 'There shall be the root of Jesse, and he who is rising to rule nations -- upon him shall nations hope;'

³⁰ and of Him you -- you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us from God wisdom, righteousness also, and sanctification, and redemption,

²⁰ in behalf of Christ, then, we are ambassadors, as if God were calling through us, we beseech, in behalf of Christ, 'Be you reconciled to God;' ²¹ for him who did not know sin, in our behalf He did make sin, that we may become the righteousness of God in him.

²⁸ there is not here Jew or Greek, there is not here servant nor freeman, there is not here male and female, for all you are one in Christ Jesus;

¹² that you were at that time apart from Christ, having been alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope, and without God, in the world;

¹⁶ and might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, having slain the enmity\'7bhostility\'7d in it, ¹⁷ and having come, he did proclaim good news -- peace to you -- the far-off and the near,

¹⁹ Then, therefore, you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens of the saints, and of the household of God, ²⁰ being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being chief corner-stone, ²¹ in whom all the building fitly framed together does increase to an holy sanctuary in the Lord, ²² in whom also you are builded together, for a habitation\'7ban abode\'7d of God in the Spirit.

⁵ which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it was now revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit -- ⁶ that the nations be fellow-heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of His promise in the Christ, through the good news, ⁷ of which I became a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God that was given to me, according to the working of His power; ⁸ to me -- the less than the least of all the saints -- was given this grace, among the nations to proclaim good news -- the untraceable riches of the Christ,

¹³ who did rescue us out of the authority of the darkness, and did translate us into the reign of the Son of His love, ¹⁴ in whom we have the redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of the sins,

²⁰ and through him to reconcile the all things to himself -- having made peace through the blood of his cross -- through him, whether the things upon the earth, whether the things in the heavens. ²¹ And you -- once being alienated, and enemies in the mind, in the evil works, yet now did he reconcile, ²² in the body of his flesh through the death, to present you holy, and unblemished, and unblameable before himself,

¹⁸ whence not even the first apart from blood has been initiated,

¹⁸ having known that, not with corruptible things -- silver or gold -- were you redeemed from your foolish behaviour delivered by fathers, ¹⁹ but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and unspotted -- Christ's --

¹⁸ because also Christ once for sin did suffer -- righteous for unrighteous -- that he might lead us to God, having been put to death indeed, in the flesh, and having been made alive in the spirit,

⁹ and they sing a new song, saying, 'Worthy are you to take the scroll, and to open the seals of it, because you were slain, and did redeem us to God in your blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,

⁷⁹ To give light to those sitting in darkness and death-shade, To guide our feet to a way of peace.'

¹⁴ 'Glory in the highest to God, and upon earth peace, among men -- good will.'

⁵² and not for the nation only, but that also the children of God, who have been scattered abroad, he may gather together into one.

³³ these things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace, in the world you shall have tribulation, but take courage -- I have overcome the world.'

²⁸ And he said unto them, 'You know how it is unlawful for a man, a Jew, to keep company with, or to come unto, one of another race, but to me God did show to call no man common or unclean;

³⁶ the word that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming good news -- peace through Jesus Christ (this one is Lord of all,)

¹ Having been declared righteous, then, by faith, we have peace toward God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹² For, even as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the one body, being many, are one body, so also is the Christ, ¹³ for also in one Spirit we all to one body were baptized, whether Jews or Greeks, whether servants or freemen, and all into one Spirit were made to drink,

¹⁵ the enmity\'7bhostility\'7d in his flesh, the law of the commands in ordinances having done away, that the two he might create in himself into one new man, making peace,

¹⁵ of whom the whole family in the heavens and on earth is named,

¹⁶ from whom the whole body, being fitly joined together and united, through the supply of every joint, according to the working in the measure of each single part, the increase of the body does make for the building up of itself in love.

²⁰ and through him to reconcile the all things to himself -- having made peace through the blood of his cross -- through him, whether the things upon the earth, whether the things in the heavens.

¹⁰ and you are in him made full, who is the head of all principality and authority, ¹¹ in whom also you were circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh in the circumcision of the Christ, ¹² being buried with him in the baptism, in which also you rose with him through the faith of the working of God, who did raise him out of the dead. ¹³ And you -- being dead in the trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh -- He made alive together with him, having forgiven you all the trespasses, ¹⁴ having blotted out the handwriting in the ordinances that is against us, that was contrary to us, and he has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross;

²⁰ If, then, you did die with the Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as living in the world, are you subject to ordinances?

¹⁵ and let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and become thankful.

² to whom also a tenth of all did Abraham divide, (first, indeed, being interpreted, 'King of righteousness,' and then also, King of Salem, which is, King of Peace,)

²⁰ And the God of the peace, who did bring up out of the dead the great shepherd of the sheep -- in the blood of an age-during covenant -- our Lord Jesus,

¹⁰ for as many as are of works of law are under a curse, for it has been written, 'Cursed is every one who is not remaining in all things that have been written in the Book of the Law -- to do them,'

¹⁴ having blotted out the handwriting in the ordinances that is against us, that was contrary to us, and he has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross;

¹⁶ who came not according to the law of a fleshly command, but according to the power of an endless life,

¹³ in the saying 'new,' He has made the first old, and what does become obsolete and is old is near disappearing.

⁹ which is a simile in regard to the present time, in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered, which are not able, in regard to conscience, to make perfect him who is serving, ¹⁰ only in victuals, and drinks, and different baptisms, and fleshly ordinances -- till the time of reformation imposed upon them.

²³ It is necessary, therefore, the pattern indeed of the things in the heavens to be purified with these, and the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these;

¹ For the law having a shadow of the coming good things -- not the very image of the matters, every year, by the same sacrifices that they offer continually, is never able to make perfect those coming near, ² since, would they not have ceased to be offered, because of those serving having no more conscience of sins, having once been purified? ³ but in those sacrifices is a remembrance of sins every year, ⁴ for it is impossible for blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. ⁵ Therefore, coming into the world, he said, 'Sacrifice and offering You did not will, and a body You did prepare for me, ⁶ in burnt-offerings, and concerning sin-offerings, You did not delight, ⁷ then I said, Lo, I come, (in a volume of the book it has been written concerning me,) to do, O God, Your will;' ⁸ saying above -- 'Sacrifice, and offering, and burnt-offerings, and concerning sin-offering You did not will, nor delight in,' -- which according to the law are offered -- ⁹ then he said, 'Lo, I come to do, O God, Your will;' he does take away the first that the second he may establish; ¹⁰ in the which will we are having been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once,

¹⁹ Having, therefore, brethren, boldness for the entrance into the holy places, in the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ which way he did initiate for us -- new and living, through the vail, that is, his flesh -- ²¹ and a high priest over the house of God, ²² may we draw near with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, having the hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having the body bathed with pure water;

⁶ this knowing, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of the sin may be made useless, for our no longer serving the sin;

³ for what the law was not able to do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, His own Son having sent in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, did condemn the sin in the flesh,

⁷ because the mind of the flesh is enmity to God, for to the law of God it does not subject itself,

¹⁸ And the all things are of God, who reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and did give to us the ministration of the reconciliation, ¹⁹ how that God was in Christ -- a world reconciling to Himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses; and having put in us the word of the reconciliation,

²⁰ with Christ I have been crucified, and live no more do I, and Christ does live in me; and that which I now live in the flesh -- in the faith I live of the Son of God, who did love me and did give himself for me;

¹ Christ, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, you also with the same mind arm yourselves, because he who did suffer in the flesh has done with sin, ² no more in the desires of men, but in the will of God, to live the rest of the time in the flesh;

¹³ and if indeed the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it; and if it be not worthy, let your peace turn back to you.

⁹ and heal the ailing in it, and say to them, The reign of God has come near to you. ¹⁰ 'And into whatever city you do enter, and they may not receive you, having gone forth to its broad places, say, ¹¹ And the dust that has cleaved to us, from your city, we do wipe off against you, but this know you, that the reign of God has come near to you;

⁵ and having found, he does lay it on his shoulders rejoicing, ⁶ and having come to the house, he does call together the friends and the neighbours, saying to them, Rejoice with me, because I found my sheep -- the lost one.

²⁰ in behalf of Christ, then, we are ambassadors, as if God were calling through us, we beseech, in behalf of Christ, 'Be you reconciled to God;'

¹³ and now, in Christ Jesus, you being once afar off became near in the blood of the Christ, ¹⁴ for he is our peace, who did make both one, and the middle wall of the enclosure did break down,

¹⁹ having gone, then, disciple all the nations, (baptizing them -- to the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

²¹ Jesus said to her, 'Woman, believe me, that there does come an hour, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall you worship the Father; ²² you worship what you have not known; we worship what we have known, because the salvation is of the Jews; ²³ but, there comes an hour, and it now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father also does seek such to worship him;

⁷ Jesus said therefore again to them, 'Verily, verily, I say to you -- I am the door of the sheep;

⁹ I am the door, through me if any one may come in, he shall be saved, and he shall come in, and go out, and find pasture.

² through whom also we have the access by the faith into this grace in which we have stood, and we boast on the hope of the glory of God.

¹⁵ for you did not receive a spirit of bondage again for fear, but you did receive a spirit of adoption in which we cry, 'Abba -- Father.'

²⁶ And, in like manner also, the Spirit does help our weaknesses; for, what we may pray for, as it behooves us, we have not known, but the Spirit himself does make intercession for us with groanings unutterable, ²⁷ and He who is searching the hearts has known what is the mind of the Spirit, because according to God he does intercede for saints.

⁶ yet to us is one God, the Father, of whom are the all things, and we to Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are the all things, and we through Him;

¹³ for also in one Spirit we all to one body were baptized, whether Jews or Greeks, whether servants or freemen, and all into one Spirit were made to drink,

⁶ and because you are sons, God did send forth the spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, 'Abba, Father!'

¹² in whom we have the freedom and the access in confidence through the faith of him,

¹⁴ For this cause I bow\'7bbend\'7d my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁴ one body and one Spirit, according as also you were called in one hope of your calling;

¹⁸ through all prayer and supplication\'7bpetitions, requests\'7d praying at all times in the Spirit, and in regard to this same, watching in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints --

¹² Giving thanks to the Father who did make us meet for the participation of the inheritance of the saints in the light,

¹⁵ for we have not a chief priest unable to sympathize with our infirmities, but one tempted in all things in like manner -- apart from sin; ¹⁶ we may come near, then, with freedom, to the throne of the grace, that we may receive kindness, and find grace -- for seasonable help.

¹⁹ (for nothing did the law perfect) and the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

¹⁹ Having, therefore, brethren, boldness for the entrance into the holy places, in the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ which way he did initiate for us -- new and living, through the vail, that is, his flesh --

⁹ with it we do bless the God and Father, and with it we do curse the men made according to the similitude of God;

¹⁷ and if on the Father you do call, who without acceptance of persons is judging according to the work of each, in fear the time of your sojourn pass you,

¹ My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin: and if any one may sin, an advocate we have with the Father, Jesus Christ, a righteous one, ² and he -- he is a propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world,

²⁰ And you, beloved, on your most holy faith building yourselves up, in the Holy Spirit praying,

²⁵ sufficient to the disciple that he may be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord; if the master of the house they did call Beelzeboul, how much more those of his household?

²⁶ for you are all sons of God through the faith in Christ Jesus, ²⁷ for as many as to Christ were baptized did put on Christ; ²⁸ there is not here Jew or Greek, there is not here servant nor freeman, there is not here male and female, for all you are one in Christ Jesus;

²⁶ and the Jerusalem above is the free-woman, which is mother of us all, ²⁷ for it has been written, 'Rejoice, O barren, who are not bearing; break forth and cry, you who are not travailing, because many are the children of the desolate -- more than of her having the husband.' ²⁸ And we, brethren, as Isaac, are children of promise, ²⁹ but as then he who was born according to the flesh did persecute him according to the spirit, so also now; ³⁰ but what saith the Writing? 'Cast forth the maid-servant and her son, for the son of the maid-servant may not be heir with the son of the free-woman;' ³¹ then, brethren, we are not a maid-servant's children, but the free-woman's.

¹⁰ therefore, then, as we have opportunity, may we work the good to all, and especially unto those of the household of the faith.

⁶ that the nations be fellow-heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of His promise in the Christ, through the good news,

²⁰ For our citizenship is in the heavens, whence also a Saviour we await -- the Lord Jesus Christ --

¹³ In faith died all these, not having received the promises, but from afar having seen them, and having been persuaded, and having saluted them, and having confessed that strangers and sojourners they are upon the earth,

²² But, you came to Mount Zion, and to a city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of messengers, ²³ to the company and assembly of the first-born in heaven enrolled, and to God the judge of all, and to spirits of righteous men made perfect, ²⁴ and to a mediator of a new covenant -- Jesus, and to blood of sprinkling, speaking better things than that of Abel!

¹ See you what love the Father has given to us, that children of God we may be called; because of this the world does not know us, because it did not know Him;

¹² having also a wall great and high, having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve messengers, and names written thereon, which are those of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel, ¹³ at the east three gates, at the north three gates, at the south three gates, at the west three gates; ¹⁴ and the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. ¹⁵ And he who is speaking with me had a golden reed, that he may measure the city, and its gates, and its wall; ¹⁶ and the city lies square, and the length of it is as great as the breadth; and he did measure the city with the reed -- furlongs twelve thousand; the length, and the breadth, and the height, of it are equal; ¹⁷ and he measured its wall, an hundred forty-four cubits, the measure of a man, that is, of the messenger; ¹⁸ and the building of its wall was jasper, and the city is pure gold -- like to pure glass; ¹⁹ and the foundations of the wall of the city with every precious stone have been adorned; the first foundation jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; ²⁰ the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. ²¹ And the twelve gates are twelve pearls, each several one of the gates was of one pearl; and the broad-place of the city is pure gold -- as transparent glass. ²² And a sanctuary I did not see in it, for the Lord God, the Almighty, is its sanctuary, and the Lamb, ²³ and the city has no need of the sun, nor of the moon, that they may shine in it; for the glory of God did lighten it, and the lamp of it is the Lamb; ²⁴ and the nations of the saved in its light shall walk, and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it, ²⁵ and its gates shall not at all be shut by day, for night shall not be there; ²⁶ and they shall bring the glory and the honour of the nations into it;

¹⁸ 'And I also say to you, that you are a rock, and upon this rock I will build my assembly, and gates of Hades shall not prevail against it;

⁴² Jesus said to them, 'Did you never read in the Writings, A stone that the builders disallowed, it became head of a corner; from the Lord has this come to pass, and it is wonderful in our eyes.

¹⁰ And this Writing did you not read: A stone that the builders rejected, it did become the head of a corner: ¹¹ from the Lord was this, and it is wonderful in our eyes.'

¹⁷ and he, having looked upon them, said, 'What, then, is this that has been written: A stone that the builders rejected -- this became head of a corner? ¹⁸ every one who has fallen on that stone shall be broken, and on whom it may fall, it will crush him to pieces.'

¹¹ 'This is the stone that was set at nought by you -- the builders, that became head of a corner; ¹² and there is not salvation in any other, for there is no other name under the heaven that has been given among men, in which it behooves us to be saved.'

⁹ for of God we are fellow-workmen; God's tillage, God's building you are. ¹⁰ According to the grace of God that was given to me, as a wise master-builder, a foundation I have laid, and another does build on it, ¹¹ for other foundation no one is able to lay except that which is laid, which is Jesus the Christ;

²⁸ And some, indeed, did God set in the assembly, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, afterwards powers, afterwards gifts of healings, helpings, governings, divers kinds of tongues;

⁹ and having known the grace that was given to me, James, and Cephas, and John, who were esteemed to be pillars, a right hand of fellowship they did give to me, and to Barnabas, that we to the nations, and they to the circumcision may go,

¹¹ and He gave some as apostles\'7bcouriers, ones dispatched\'7d, and some as prophets, and some as proclaimers of good news, and some as shepherds and teachers, ¹² unto the perfecting\'7bmaking complete\'7d of the saints, for a work of ministration\'7bservice\'7d, for a building up of the body of the Christ, ¹³ till we may all come to the unity of the faith and of the recognition\'7bcomplete knowledge\'7d of the Son of God, to a perfect\'7bcomplete\'7d man, to a measure of stature of the fulness of the Christ,

⁴ to whom coming -- a living stone -- by men, indeed, having been disapproved of, but with God choice, precious, ⁵ and you yourselves, as living stones, are built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

⁷ to you, then, who are believing is the preciousness; and to the unbelieving, a stone that the builders disapproved of, this one did become for the head of a corner, ⁸ and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence -- who are stumbling at the word, being unbelieving, -- to which also they were set;

¹⁴ and the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

¹⁶ have you not known that you are a sanctuary of God, and the Spirit of God does dwell in you? ¹⁷ if any one the sanctuary of God does waste, him shall God waste; for the sanctuary of God is holy, the which you are.

¹⁶ and what agreement to the sanctuary of God with idols? for you are a sanctuary of the living God, according as God said -- 'I will dwell in them, and will walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people,

¹³ till we may all come to the unity of the faith and of the recognition\'7bcomplete knowledge\'7d of the Son of God, to a perfect\'7bcomplete\'7d man, to a measure of stature of the fulness of the Christ, ¹⁴ that we may no more be babes\'7binfants\'7d, tossed and borne about by every wind of the teaching, in the sleight\'7bwiles\'7d of men, in craftiness\'7bslyness\'7d, unto the artifice\'7bscheming\'7d of leading astray, ¹⁵ and, being true in love, we may increase to Him in all things, who is the head -- the Christ; ¹⁶ from whom the whole body, being fitly joined together and united, through the supply of every joint, according to the working in the measure of each single part, the increase of the body does make for the building up of itself in love.

³ for of more glory than Moses has this one been counted worthy, inasmuch as more honour than the house has he who does build it, ⁴ for every house is builded by some one, and He who the all things did build is God,

¹⁷ the Spirit of truth, whom the world is not able to receive, because it does not behold him, nor know him, and you know him, because he does remain with you, and shall be in you. ¹⁸ 'I will not leave you bereaved, I come unto you; ¹⁹ yet a little, and the world does no more behold me, and you behold me, because I live, and you shall live; ²⁰ in that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you; ²¹ he who is having my commands, and is keeping them, that one it is who is loving me, and he who is loving me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.' ²² Judas said to him, (not the Iscariot), 'Sir, what has come to pass, that to us you are about to manifest yourself, and not to the world?' ²³ Jesus answered and said to him, 'If any one may love me, my word he will keep, and my Father will love him, and unto him we will come, and abode with him we will make;

²¹ that they all may be one, as You Father art in me, and I in You; that they also in us may be one, that the world may believe that You did send me. ²² 'And I, the glory that you have given to me, have given to them, that they may be one as we are one; ²³ I in them, and You in me, that they may be perfected into one, and that the world may know that You did send me, and did love them as You did love me.

⁹ And you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God does dwell in you; and if any one has not the Spirit of Christ -- this one is not His; ¹⁰ and if Christ is in you, the body, indeed, is dead because of sin, and the Spirit is life because of righteousness, ¹¹ and if the Spirit of Him who did raise up Jesus out of the dead does dwell in you, He who did raise up the Christ out of the dead shall quicken also your dying bodies, through His Spirit dwelling in you.

¹⁶ have you not known that you are a sanctuary of God, and the Spirit of God does dwell in you?

¹⁹ Have you not known that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit in you, which you have from God? and you are not your own,

¹⁷ that the Christ may dwell through the faith in your hearts, in love having been rooted and founded,

²⁴ and he who is keeping His commands, in Him he does remain, and He in him; and in this we know that He does remain in us, from the Spirit that He gave us.

¹³ in this we know that in Him we do remain, and He in us, because of His Spirit He has given us.

¹⁶ and we -- we have known and believed the love, that God has in us; God is love, and he who is remaining in the love, in God he does remain, and God in him.
