⁴ and that because of the false brethren brought in unawares, who did come in privily to spy out our liberty that we have in Christ Jesus, that us they might bring under bondage,

³¹ Jesus, therefore, said unto the Jews who believed in him, 'If you may remain in my word, truly my disciples you are, and you shall know the truth, ³² and the truth shall make you free.' ³³ They answered him, 'Seed of Abraham we are; and to no one have we been servants at any time; how do you say -- You shall become free?' ³⁴ Jesus answered them, 'Verily, verily, I say to you -- Every one who is committing sin, is a servant of the sin, ³⁵ and the servant does not remain in the house -- to the age, the son does remain -- to the age; ³⁶ if then the son may make you free, in reality you shall be free.

¹ And certain having come down from Judea, were teaching the brethren -- 'If you be not circumcised after the custom of Moses, you are not able to be saved;'

²⁴ seeing we have heard that certain having gone forth from us did trouble you with words, subverting your souls, saying to be circumcised and to keep the law, to whom we did give no charge,

³⁰ and of your own selves there shall arise men, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

¹⁵ for you did not receive a spirit of bondage again for fear, but you did receive a spirit of adoption in which we cry, 'Abba -- Father.'

¹⁷ And the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty;

¹³ for those such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ,

¹⁷ That which I speak, I speak not according to the Lord, but as in foolishness, in this the confidence of boasting;

²⁰ for you bear, if any one is bringing you under bondage, if any one does devour, if any one does take away, if any one does exalt himself, if any one on the face does smite you;

²⁶ journeyings many times, perils of rivers, perils of robbers, perils from kindred, perils from nations, perils in city, perils in wilderness, perils in sea, perils among false brethren;

²³ And before the coming of the faith, under law we were being kept, shut up to the faith about to be revealed, ²⁴ so that the law became our child-conductor -- to Christ, that by faith we may be declared righteous, ²⁵ and the faith having come, no more under a child-conductor are we, ²⁶ for you are all sons of God through the faith in Christ Jesus,

³ so also we, when we were babes, under the elements of the world were in servitude,

⁹ and now, having known God -- and rather being known by God -- how turn you again unto the weak and poor elements to which anew you desire to be in servitude? ¹⁰ days you observe, and months, and times, and years!

²⁵ for this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and does correspond to the Jerusalem that now is, and is in servitude with her children,

¹ In the freedom, then, with which Christ did make you free -- stand you, and be not held fast again by a yoke of servitude;

¹⁰ I have confidence in regard to you in the Lord, that you will be none otherwise minded; and he who is troubling you shall bear the judgment, whoever he may be.

¹² O that even they would cut themselves off who are unsettling you! ¹³ For you -- to freedom you were called, brethren, only not the freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through the love serve you one another,

⁶ for of these there are those coming into the houses and leading captive the silly women, laden\'7bweighed down, heaped, piled\'7d with sins, led away with desires manifold\'7bof various sorts\'7d,

¹⁶ as free, and not having the freedom as the cloak of the evil, but as servants of God;

¹ And there did come also false prophets among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall bring in besides destructive sects, and the Master who bought them denying, bringing to themselves quick destruction, ² and many shall follow out their destructive ways, because of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of,

¹⁹ liberty to them promising, themselves being servants of the corruption, for by whom any one has been overcome, to this one also he has been brought to servitude,

¹ Beloved, every spirit believe not, but prove the spirits, if of God they are, because many false prophets have gone forth to the world;

⁴ for there did come in unobserved certain men, long ago having been written beforehand to this judgment, impious, the grace of our God perverting to lasciviousness, and our only Master, God, and Lord -- Jesus Christ -- denying,
