Hebrews 12 Cross References - RYLT

1 Therefore, we also having so great a cloud of witnesses set around us, every weight having put off, and the closely besetting sin, through endurance may we run the contest that is set before us, 2 looking to the author and perfecter of faith -- Jesus, who, over-against the joy set before him -- did endure a cross, shame having despised, on the right hand also of the throne of God did sit down; 3 for consider again him who endured such gainsaying from the sinners to himself, that you may not be wearied in your souls -- being faint. 4 Not yet unto blood did you resist -- with the sin striving; 5 and you have forgotten the exhortation that does speak fully with you as with sons, 'My son, be not despising chastening of the Lord, nor be faint, being reproved by Him, 6 for whom the Lord does love He does chasten, and He scourges every son whom He receives;' 7 if chastening you endure, as to sons God bears Himself to you, for who is a son whom a father does not chasten? 8 and if you are apart from chastening, of which all have become partakers, then bastards are you, and not sons. 9 Then, indeed, fathers of our flesh we have had, chastising us, and we were reverencing them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of the spirits, and live? 10 for they, indeed, for a few days, according to what seemed good to them, were chastening, but He for profit, to be partakers of His separation; 11 and all chastening for the present, indeed, does not seem to be of joy, but of sorrow, yet afterward the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those exercised through it -- it does yield. 12 Therefore, the hanging-down hands and the loosened knees set you up; 13 and straight paths make for your feet, that that which is lame may not be turned aside, but rather be healed; 14 peace pursue with all, and the separation, apart from which no one shall see the Lord, 15 looking diligently over lest any one be failing of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up may give trouble, and through this many may be defiled; 16 lest any one be a fornicator, or a profane person, as Esau, who in exchange for one morsel of food did sell his birthright, 17 for you know that also afterwards, wishing to inherit the blessing, he was disapproved of, for a place of reformation he found not, though with tears having sought it. 18 For you came not near to the mount touched and scorched with fire, and to blackness, and darkness, and tempest, 19 and a sound of a trumpet, and a voice of sayings, which those having heard did entreat that a word might not be added to them, 20 for they were not bearing that which is commanded, 'And if a beast may touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or with an arrow shot through,' 21 and, (so terrible was the sight,) Moses said, 'I am fearful exceedingly, and trembling.' 22 But, you came to Mount Zion, and to a city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of messengers, 23 to the company and assembly of the first-born in heaven enrolled, and to God the judge of all, and to spirits of righteous men made perfect, 24 and to a mediator of a new covenant -- Jesus, and to blood of sprinkling, speaking better things than that of Abel! 25 See, may you not refuse him who is speaking, for if those did not escape who refused him who upon earth was divinely speaking -- much less we who do turn away from him who speaks from heaven, 26 whose voice the earth shook then, and now has he promised, saying, 'Yet once -- I shake not only the earth, but also the heaven;' 27 and this -- 'Yet once' -- does make evident the removal of the things shaken, as of things having been made, that the things not shaken may remain; 28 therefore, a kingdom that cannot be shaken receiving, may we have grace, through which we may serve God well-pleasingly, with reverence and religious fear; 29 for also our God is a consuming fire.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

24 have you not known that those running in a race -- all indeed run, but one does receive the prize? so run you, that you may obtain; 25 and every one who is striving, is in all things temperate; these, indeed, then, that a corruptible crown they may receive, but we an incorruptible; 26 I, therefore, thus run, not as uncertainly, thus I fight, as not beating air; 27 but I chastise my body, and bring it into servitude, lest by any means, having preached to others -- I myself may become disapproved.

10 to know him, and the power of his rising again, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death, 11 if anyhow I may attain to the rising again of the dead. 12 Not that I did already obtain, or have been already perfected; but I pursue, if also I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by the Christ Jesus; 13 brethren, I do not reckon myself to have laid hold; and one thing -- the things behind indeed forgetting, and to the things before stretching forth -- 14 to the mark I pursue for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:5-8

Hebrews 11:2-38

2 for in this were the elders testified of; 3 by faith we understand the ages to have been prepared by a saying of God, in regard to the things seen not having come out of things appearing; 4 by faith a better sacrifice did Abel offer to God than Cain, through which he was testified to be righteous, God testifying of his gifts, and through it, he being dead, does yet speak. 5 By faith Enoch was translated -- not to see death, and was not found, because God did translate him; for before his translation he had been testified to -- that he had pleased God well, 6 and apart from faith it is impossible to please well, for it benefits him who is coming to God to believe that He is, and to those seeking Him He becomes a rewarder. 7 By faith Noah, having been divinely warned concerning the things not yet seen, having feared, did prepare an ark to the salvation of his house, through which he did condemn the world, and of the righteousness according to faith he became heir. 8 By faith Abraham, being called, did obey, to go forth to the place that he was about to receive for an inheritance, and he went forth, not knowing whither he does go; 9 by faith he did sojourn in the land of the promise as a strange country, in tabernacles having dwelt with Isaac and Jacob, fellow-heirs of the same promise, 10 for he was looking for the city having the foundations, whose artificer and constructor is God. 11 By faith also Sarah herself did receive power to conceive seed, and she bare after the time of life, seeing she did judge Him faithful who did promise; 12 therefore, also from one were begotten -- and that of one who had become dead -- as the stars of the heaven in multitude, and as sand that is by the sea-shore -- the innumerable. 13 In faith died all these, not having received the promises, but from afar having seen them, and having been persuaded, and having saluted them, and having confessed that strangers and sojourners they are upon the earth, 14 for those saying such things make manifest that they seek a country; 15 and if, indeed, they had been mindful of that from which they came forth, they might have had an opportunity to return, 16 but now they long for a better, that is, an heavenly, therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for He did prepare for them a city. 17 By faith Abraham has offered up Isaac, being tried, and the only begotten he did offer up who did receive the promises, 18 of whom it was said -- 'In Isaac shall a seed be called to you;' 19 reckoning that even out of the dead God is able to raise up, whence also in a figure he did receive him. 20 By faith, concerning coming things, Isaac did bless Jacob and Esau; 21 by faith Jacob dying -- each of the sons of Joseph did bless, and did bow down upon the top of his staff; 22 by faith, Joseph dying, concerning the outgoing of the sons of Israel did make mention, and concerning his bones did give command. 23 By faith Moses, having been born, was hid three months by his parents, because they saw the child comely, and were not afraid of the decree of the king; 24 by faith Moses, having become great, did refuse to be called a son of the daughter of Pharaoh, 25 having chosen rather to be afflicted with the people of God, than to have sin's pleasure for a season, 26 greater wealth having reckoned the reproach of the Christ than the treasures in Egypt, for he did look to the recompense of reward; 27 by faith he left Egypt behind, not having been afraid of the wrath of the king, for, as seeing the Invisible One -- he endured; 28 by faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of the blood, that He who is destroying the first-born might not touch them. 29 By faith they did pass through the Red Sea as through dry land, which the Egyptians having received a trial of, were swallowed up; 30 by faith the walls of Jericho did fall, having been surrounded for seven days; 31 by faith Rahab the harlot did not perish with those who disbelieved, having received the spies with peace. 32 And what shall I yet say? for the time will fail me recounting about Gideon, Barak also, and Samson, and Jephthah, David also, and Samuel, and the prophets, 33 who through faith did subdue kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped mouths of lions, 34 quenched the power of fire, escaped the mouth of the sword, were made powerful out of infirmities, became strong in battle, caused to give way camps of the aliens. 35 Women received by a rising again their dead, and others were tortured, not accepting the redemption, that a better rising again they might receive, 36 and others of mockings and scourgings did receive trial, and yet of bonds and imprisonment; 37 they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tried; in the killing of the sword they died; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins -- being destitute, afflicted, injuriously treated, 38 of whom the world was not worthy; in deserts wandering, and in mountains, and in caves, and in the holes of the earth;

James 5:7-11

7 Be patient, then, brethren, till the presence of the Lord; lo, the husbandman does expect the precious fruit of the earth, being patient for it, till he may receive rain -- early and latter; 8 be patient, you also; establish your hearts, because the presence of the Lord has drawn near; 9 murmur not against one another, brethren, that you may not be condemned; lo, the Judge before the door has stood. 10 An example take you of the suffering of evil, my brethren, and of the patience, the prophets who did speak in the name of the Lord; 11 lo, we call happy those who are enduring; the endurance of Job you heard of, and the end of the Lord you have seen, that very compassionate is the Lord, and pitying.

Matthew 20:18-20

18 'Lo, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man shall be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, 19 and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the nations to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify, and the third day he will rise again.' 20 Then came near to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee, with her sons, bowing and asking something from him,

If he be King of Israel, let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe him; 43 he has trusted on God, let Him now deliver him, if He wish him, because he said -- Son of God I am;' 44 with the same also the robbers, who were crucified with him, were reproaching him. 45 And from the sixth hour darkness came over all the land unto the ninth hour, 46 and about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a great voice, saying, 'Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?' That is, 'My God, my God, why did You forsake me?' 47 And certain of those standing there having heard, said -- 'Elijah he does call;' 48 and immediately, one of them having run, and having taken a spunge, having filled it with vinegar, and having put it on a reed, was giving him to drink, 49 but the rest said, 'Let alone, let us see if Elijah does come -- about to save him.' 50 And Jesus having again cried with a great voice, yielded the spirit;

11 he who is unrighteous -- let him be unrighteous still, and he who is filthy -- let him be filthy still, and he who is righteous -- let him be declared righteous still, and he who is sanctified -- let him be sanctified still: 12 And lo, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, to render to each as his work shall be; 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega -- the Beginning and End -- the First and the Last. 14 'Happy are those doing His commands that the authority shall be theirs unto the tree of the life, and by the gates they may enter into the city; 15 and without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the whoremongers, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one who is loving and is doing a lie.

Matthew 7:16-18

16 From their fruits you shall know them; do men gather from thorns grapes? Or from thistles figs? 17 So every good tree does yield good fruits, but the bad tree does yield evil fruits. 18 A good tree is not able to yield evil fruits, nor a bad tree to yield good fruits.

2 Corinthians 6:1

1 And working together also we call upon you that you receive not in vain the grace of God --

2 Corinthians 13:5

5 Your ownselves try you, if you are in the faith; your ownselves prove you; do you not know your ownselves, that Jesus Christ is in you, if you be not in some respect disapproved of?

2 Timothy 2:16-17

16 and the profane vain talkings stand aloof from, for to more impiety they will advance, 17 and their word as a gangrene will have pasture, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus,

Hebrews 2:1-2

1 Because of this it benefits us more abundantly to take heed to the things heard, lest we may glide aside, 2 for if the word being spoken through messengers did become stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience did receive a just recompense,

Hebrews 3:12

12 See, brethren, lest there shall be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in the falling away from the living God,

Hebrews 4:1

1 We may fear, then, lest a promise being left of entering into His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short,

Hebrews 4:11

11 May we be diligent, then, to enter into that rest, that no one in the same example of the unbelief may fall,

Hebrews 6:11

11 and we desire each one of you the same diligence to show, unto the full assurance of the hope unto the end,

Hebrews 10:23-35

23 may we hold fast the unwavering profession of the hope, (for faithful is He who did promise), 24 and may we consider one another to provoke to love and to good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as a custom of certain is, but exhorting, and so much the more as you see the day coming near. 26 For we -- willfully sinning after the receiving the full knowledge of the truth -- no more for sins does there remain a sacrifice, 27 but a certain fearful looking for of judgment, and fiery zeal, about to devour the opposers; 28 any one who did set at nought a law of Moses, apart from mercies, by two or three witnesses, does die, 29 of how much sorer punishment shall he be counted worthy who the Son of God did trample on, and the blood of the covenant did count a common thing, in which he was sanctified, and to the Spirit of the grace did despite? 30 for we have known Him who is saying, 'Vengeance is Mine, I will recompense, says the Lord;' and again, 'The Lord shall judge His people;' -- 31 fearful is the falling into the hands of a living God. 32 And call to your remembrance the former days, in which, having been enlightened, you did endure much conflict of sufferings, 33 partly both with reproaches and tribulations being made spectacles, and partly having become partners of those so living, 34 for also with my bonds you sympathized, and the robbery of your goods with joy you did receive, knowing that you have in yourselves a better substance in the heavens, and an enduring one. 35 You may not cast away, then, your boldness, which has great recompense of reward,

2 Peter 1:10

10 therefore, the rather, brethren, be diligent to make stedfast your calling and choice, for these things doing, you may never stumble,

2 Peter 2:1-2

1 And there did come also false prophets among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall bring in besides destructive sects, and the Master who bought them denying, bringing to themselves quick destruction, 2 and many shall follow out their destructive ways, because of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of,

2 Peter 2:18

18 for overswellings of vanity speaking, they do entice in desires of the flesh -- lasciviousnesses, those who had truly escaped from those conducting themselves in error,

2 Peter 3:14

Jude 1:20-21

20 And you, beloved, on your most holy faith building yourselves up, in the Holy Spirit praying, 21 yourselves in the love of God keep you, waiting for the kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ -- to life age-during;

Acts 15:29

29 to abstain from things offered to idols, and blood, and a strangled thing, and whoredom; from which keeping yourselves, you shall do well; be strong!'

1 Corinthians 5:1-6

1 Whoredom is actually heard of among you, and such whoredom as is not even named among the nations -- as that one has the wife of the father! -- 2 and you are having been puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he may be removed out of the midst of you who did this work, 3 for I indeed, as being absent as to the body, and present as to the spirit, have already judged, as being present, him who so wrought this thing: 4 in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ -- you being gathered together, also my spirit -- with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 to deliver up such a one to the Adversary for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 6 Not good is your glorying; have you not known that a little leaven the whole lump does leaven?

1 Corinthians 5:9-11

9 I did write to you in the epistle, not to keep company with whoremongers -- 10 and not certainly with the whoremongers of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, seeing you ought then to go forth out of the world -- 11 and now, I did write to you not to keep company with him, if any one, being named a brother, may be a whoremonger, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner -- with such a one not even to eat together;

1 Corinthians 6:15-20

15 Have you not known that your bodies are members of Christ? having taken, then, the members of the Christ, shall I make them members of an harlot? let it be not! 16 have you not known that he who is joined to the harlot is one body? 'for they shall be -- says He -- the two for one flesh.' 17 And he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit; 18 flee the whoredom; every sin -- whatever a man may commit -- is without the body, and he who is committing whoredom, against his own body does sin. 19 Have you not known that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit in you, which you have from God? and you are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price; glorify, then, God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

1 Corinthians 10:8

8 neither may we commit whoredom, as certain of them did commit whoredom, and there fell in one day twenty-three thousand;

2 Corinthians 12:21

21 lest again having come, my God may humble me in regard to you, and I may bewail many of those having sinned before, and not having reformed concerning the uncleanness, and whoredom, and lasciviousness, that they did practise.

Galatians 5:19-21

19 And manifest also are the works of the flesh, which are: Adultery, whoredom, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strifes, emulations, wraths, rivalries, dissensions, sects, 21 envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revellings, and such like, of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that those doing such things the reign of God shall not inherit.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-7

3 for this is the will of God -- your sanctification; that you abstain from the whoredom, 4 that each of you know his own vessel to possess in sanctification and honour, 5 not in the affection of desire, as also the nations that were not knowing God, 6 that no one go beyond and defraud in the matter his brother, because an avenger is the Lord of all these, as also we spake before to you and testified, 7 for God did not call us on uncleanness, but in sanctification;

Hebrews 13:4

4 honourable is the marriage in all, and the bed undefiled, and whoremongers and adulterers God shall judge.

Revelation 2:20-23

20 'But I have against you a few things: That you do allow the woman Jezebel, who is calling herself a prophetess, to teach, and to lead astray, my servants to commit whoredom, and idol-sacrifices to eat; 21 and I did give to her a time that she might reform from her whoredom, and she did not reform; 22 lo, I will cast her into a couch, and those committing adultery with her into great tribulation -- if they may not repent of their works, 23 and her children I will kill in death, and know shall all the assemblies that I am he who is searching reins and hearts; and I will give to you -- to each -- according to your works.

24 'Be striving to go in through the straight gate, because many, I say to you, will seek to go in, and shall not be able; 25 from the time the master of the house may have risen up, and may have shut the door, and you may begin without to stand, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, lord, open to us, and he answering shall say to you, I have not known you whence you are, 26 then you may begin to say, We did eat before you, and did drink, and in our broad places you did teach; 27 and he shall say, I say to you, I have not known you whence you are; depart from me, all you workers of the unrighteousness.

Hebrews 6:4-6

4 for it is impossible for those once enlightened, having tasted also of the heavenly gift, and partakers having became of the Holy Spirit, 5 and did taste the good saying of God, the powers also of the coming age, 6 and having fallen away, again to renew them to reformation, having crucified again to themselves the Son of God, and exposed to public shame.

Hebrews 6:8

8 and that which is bearing thorns and briers is disapproved of, and near to cursing, whose end is for burning;
