¹⁸ But say may some one, You have faith, and I have works, show me thy faith out of thy works, and I will show you out of my works my faith:

¹⁶ From their fruits you shall know them; do men gather from thorns grapes? Or from thistles figs? ¹⁷ So every good tree does yield good fruits, but the bad tree does yield evil fruits.

²⁸ therefore do we reckon a man to be declared righteous by faith, apart from works of law.

⁶ even as David also does speak of the happiness of the man to whom God does reckon righteousness apart from works:

¹ There is, then, now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit;

²³ and he who is making a difference, if he may eat, has been condemned, because it is not of faith; and all that is not of faith is sin.

² and if I have prophecy, and know all the secrets, and all the knowledge, and if I have all the faith, so as to remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing;

¹⁷ so that if any one is in Christ -- he is a new creature; the old things did pass away, lo, become new have the all things.

¹ Having, then, these promises, beloved, may we cleanse ourselves from every pollution of flesh and spirit, perfecting sanctification in the fear of God;

⁶ for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith through love working.

³ unceasingly remembering of you the work of the faith, and the labour of the love, and the endurance of the hope, of our Lord Jesus Christ, in the presence of our God and Father, ⁴ having known, brethren beloved, by God, your election, ⁵ because our good news did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance, even as you have known of what sort we became among you because of you, ⁶ and you -- you did become imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit, ⁷ so that you became patterns to all those believing in Macedonia and Achaia, ⁸ for from you has sounded forth the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God did go forth, so that we have no need to say anything, ⁹ for they themselves concerning us do declare what entrance we had unto you, and how you did turn unto God from the idols, to serve a living and true God, ¹⁰ and to wait for His Son from the heavens, whom He did raise out of the dead -- Jesus, who is rescuing us from the anger that is coming.

⁵ And the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned,

⁷ concerning all things yourself showing a pattern\'7ban example\'7d of good works; in the teaching uncorruptedness, gravity, incorruptibility,

¹¹ For the saving grace of God was manifested to all men, ¹² teaching us, that denying the impiety and the worldly desires, soberly and righteously and piously we may live in the present age, ¹³ waiting for the blessed hope and manifestation of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ, ¹⁴ who did give himself for us, that he might ransom us from all lawlessness, and might purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works;

⁶ and apart from faith it is impossible to please well, for it benefits him who is coming to God to believe that He is, and to those seeking Him He becomes a rewarder.

³¹ by faith Rahab the harlot did not perish with those who disbelieved, having received the spies with peace.

³³ who through faith did subdue kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped mouths of lions,

¹⁴ What is the profit, my brethren, if faith, any one may speak of having, and works he may not have? is that faith able to save him?

²² do you see that the faith was working with his works, and out of the works the faith was perfected? ²³ and fulfilled was the Writing that is saying, 'And Abraham did believe God, and it was reckoned to him -- to righteousness;' and, 'Friend of God' he was called. ²⁴ You see, then, that out of works is man declared righteous, and not out of faith only; ²⁵ and in like manner also Rahab the harlot -- was she not out of works declared righteous, having received the messengers, and by another way having sent forth?

¹³ Who is wise and intelligent among you? let him show out of the good behaviour his works in meekness of wisdom,
