Matthew 21 Cross References - RYLT

1 And when they came near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, unto the mount of the Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, 'Go on to the village opposite you, and immediately you shall find an ass bound, and a colt with her -- having loosed, bring you to me; 3 and if any one may say anything to you, you shall say, that the lord has need of them, and immediately he will send them.' 4 And all this came to pass, that it might be fulfilled that was spoken through the prophet, saying, 5 'Tell you the daughter of Zion, Lo, your king does come to you, meek, and mounted on an ass, and a colt, a foal of a beast of burden.' 6 And the disciples having gone and having done as Jesus commanded them, 7 brought the ass and the colt, and did put on them their garments, and set him upon them; 8 and the very great multitude spread their own garments in the way, and others were cutting branches from the trees, and were strewing in the way, 9 and the multitudes who were going before, and who were following, were crying, saying, 'Hosanna to the Son of David, blessed is he who is coming in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.' 10 And he having entered into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, 'Who is this?' 11 And the multitudes said, 'This is Jesus the prophet, who is from Nazareth of Galilee.' 12 And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and did cast forth all those selling and buying in the temple, and the tables of the money-changers he overturned, and the seats of those selling the doves, 13 and he said to them, 'It has been written, My house a house of prayer shall be called, but you did make it a den of robbers.' 14 And there came to him blind and lame men in the temple, and he healed them, 15 and the chief priests and the scribes having seen the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, 'Hosanna to the Son of David,' were much displeased; 16 and they said to him, 'Hear you what these say?' And Jesus said to them, 'Yes, did you never read, that, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings You did prepare praise?' 17 And having left them, he went forth out of the city to Bethany, and did lodge there. 18 And in the morning turning back to the city, he hungered, 19 and having seen a certain fig-tree on the way, he came to it, and found nothing in it except leaves only, and he said to it, 'No more from you may fruit be -- to the age;' and forthwith the fig-tree withered. 20 And the disciples having seen, did wonder, saying, 'How did the fig-tree forthwith wither?' 21 And Jesus answering said to them, 'Verily I say to you, If you may have faith, and may not doubt, not only this of the fig-tree shall you do, but even if to this mount you may say, Be lifted up and be cast into the sea, it shall come to pass; 22 and all -- as much as you may ask in the prayer, believing, you shall receive.' 23 And he having come to the temple, there came to him when teaching the chief priests and the elders of the people, saying, 'By what authority do you do these things? And who gave you this authority?' 24 And Jesus answering said to them, 'I will ask you -- I also -- one word, which if you may tell me, I also will tell you by what authority I do these things; 25 the baptism of John, from where was it? -- From heaven, or from men?' And they were reasoning with themselves, saying, 'If we should say, From heaven; he will say to us, Why, then, did you not believe him? 26 And if we should say, From men, we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet.' 27 And answering Jesus they said, 'We have not known.' He said to them -- he also -- 'Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things. 28 'And what think you? A man had two children, and having come to the first, he said, Child, go, to-day be working in my vineyard.' 29 And he answering said, 'I will not,' but at last, having repented, he went. 30 'And having come to the second, he said in the same manner, and he answering said, I go, sir, and went not; 31 which of the two did the will of the father?' They say to him, 'The first.' Jesus said to them, 'Verily I say to you, that the tax-gatherers and the harlots do go before you into the reign of God, 32 for John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, and the tax-gatherers and the harlots did believe him, and you, having seen, repented not at last -- to believe him. 33 'Hear you another simile: There was a certain man, a householder, who planted a vineyard, and did put a hedge round it, and digged in it a wine-press, and built a tower, and gave it out to husbandmen, and went abroad. 34 'And when the season of the fruits came near, he sent his servants unto the husbandmen, to receive the fruits of it, 35 and the husbandmen having taken his servants, one they scourged, and one they killed, and one they stoned. 36 'Again he sent other servants more than the first, and they did to them in the same manner. 37 'And at last he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son; 38 and the husbandmen having seen the son, said among themselves, This is the heir, come, we may kill him, and may possess his inheritance; 39 and having taken him, they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him; 40 whenever therefore the lord of the vineyard may come, what will he do to these husbandmen?' 41 They say to him, 'Evil men -- he will evilly destroy them, and the vineyard will give out to other husbandmen, who will give back to him the fruits in their seasons.' 42 Jesus said to them, 'Did you never read in the Writings, A stone that the builders disallowed, it became head of a corner; from the Lord has this come to pass, and it is wonderful in our eyes. 43 'Because of this I say to you, that the reign of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth its fruit; 44 and he who is falling on this stone shall be broken, and on whomsoever it may fall it will crush him to pieces.' 45 And the chief priests and the Pharisees having heard his similes, knew that of them he speaks, 46 and seeking to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, seeing they were holding him as a prophet.

Matthew 3:1-12

1 And in those days comes John the Baptist, proclaiming in the wilderness of Judea, 2 and saying, 'Reform, for come near has the reign of the heavens,' 3 for this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, 'A voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the Lord, straight make you His paths.' 4 And this John had his clothing of camel's hair, and a girdle of skin round his loins, and his nourishment was locusts and honey of the field. 5 Then were going forth unto him Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region round about the Jordan, 6 and they were baptized in the Jordan by him, confessing their sins. 7 And having seen many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming about his baptism, he said to them, 'Brood of vipers! Who did show you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 Bear, therefore, fruits worthy of the reformation, 9 and do not think to say in yourselves, A father we have -- Abraham, for I say to you, that God is able out of these stones to raise children to Abraham, 10 and now also, the axe unto the root of the trees is laid, every tree therefore not bearing good fruit is hewn down, and to fire is cast. 11 'I indeed do baptize you with water to reformation, but he who after me is coming is mightier than I, of whom I am not worthy to bear the sandals, he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire, 12 whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his floor, and will gather his wheat to the storehouse, but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.'

Matthew 11:7-15

7 And as they are going, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, 'What went you out to the wilderness to view? -- A reed shaken by the wind? 8 'But what went you out to see? -- A man clothed in soft garments? Lo, those wearing the soft things are in the kings' houses. 9 'But what went you out to see? -- A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet, 10 for this is he of whom it has been written, Lo, I do send My messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way before you. 11 Verily I say to you, there has not risen, among those born of women, a greater than John the Baptist, but he who is least in the reign of the heavens is greater than he. 12 'And, from the days of John the Baptist till now, the reign of the heavens does suffer violence, and violent men do take it by force, 13 for all the prophets and the law till John did prophesy, 14 and if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who was about to come; 15 he who is having ears to hear -- let him hear.

Matthew 17:12-13

12 and I say to you -- Elijah did already come, and they did not know him, but did with him whatever they would, so also the Son of Man is about to suffer by them.' 13 Then understood the disciples that concerning John the Baptist he spoke to them.

Mark 1:1-11

1 A beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, Son of God. 2 As it has been written in the prophets, 'Lo, I send My messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way\'7bwho shall engineer your road\'7d before you,' -- 3 'A voice of one calling in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the Lord, straight make you his paths,' -- 4 John came baptizing in the wilderness, and proclaiming a baptism of reformation -- to remission of sins, 5 and there were going forth to him all the region of Judea, and they of Jerusalem, and they were all baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 6 And John was clothed with camel's hair, and a girdle of skin around his loins, and eating locusts and honey of the field, 7 and he proclaimed, saying, 'He does come -- who is mightier than I -- after me, of whom I am not worthy -- having stooped down -- to loose the latchet of his sandals; 8 I indeed did baptize you with water, but he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit.' 9 And it came to pass in those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John at the Jordan; 10 and immediately coming up from the water, he saw the heavens dividing, and the Spirit as a dove coming down upon him; 11 and a voice came out of the heavens, 'You are My Son -- the Beloved, in whom I did delight.'

Luke 1:11-17

11 And there appeared to him a messenger of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of the perfume, 12 and Zacharias, having seen, was troubled, and fear fell on him; 13 and the messenger said unto him, 'Fear not, Zacharias, for your supplication was heard, and your wife Elizabeth shall bear a son to you, and you shall call his name John, 14 and there shall be joy to you, and gladness, and many at his birth shall joy, 15 for he shall be great before the Lord, and wine and strong drink he may not drink, and of the Holy Spirit he shall be full, even from his mother's womb; 16 and many of the sons of Israel he shall turn to the Lord their God, 17 and he shall go before Him, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn hearts of fathers unto children, and disobedient ones to the wisdom of righteous ones, to make ready for the Lord, a people prepared.'

Luke 1:67-80

67 And Zacharias his father was filled with the Holy Spirit, and did prophesy, saying, 68 'Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel, Because He did look upon, And wrought redemption for His people, 69 And did raise an horn of salvation to us, In the house of David His servant, 70 As He spake by the mouth of His holy prophets, Which have been from the age; 71 Salvation from our enemies, And out of the hand of all hating us, 72 To do kindness with our fathers, And to be mindful of His holy covenant, 73 An oath that He sware to Abraham our father, 74 To give to us, without fear, Out of the hand of our enemies having been delivered, 75 To serve Him, in holiness and righteousness Before Him, all the days of our life. 76 And you, child, Prophet of the Highest Shall you be called; For you shall go before the face of the Lord, To prepare His ways. 77 To give knowledge of salvation to His people In remission of their sins, 78 Through the tender mercies of our God, In which the rising from on high did look upon us, 79 To give light to those sitting in darkness and death-shade, To guide our feet to a way of peace.' 80 And the child grew, and was strengthened in spirit, and he was in the deserts till the day of his showing unto Israel.

Luke 3:2-20

2 Annas and Caiaphas being chief priests -- there came a word of God unto John the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness, 3 and he came to all the region round the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of reformation -- to remission of sins, 4 as it has been written in the scroll of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying, 'A voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the Lord, straight make you His paths; 5 every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straightness, and the rough become smooth ways; 6 and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.' 7 Then said he to the multitudes coming forth to be baptized by him, 'Brood of vipers! who did prompt you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 make, therefore, fruits worthy of the reformation, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have a father -- Abraham; for I say to you, that God is able out of these stones to raise children to Abraham; 9 and already also the axe unto the root of the trees is laid, every tree, therefore, not making good fruit is cut down, and to fire it is cast.' 10 And the multitudes were questioning him, saying, 'What, then, shall we do?' 11 and he answering said to them, 'He having two coats -- let him impart to him having none, and he having victuals -- in like manner let him do.' 12 And there came also tax-gatherers to be baptized, and they said unto him, 'Teacher, what shall we do?' 13 and he said unto them, 'Exact no more than that directed you.' 14 And questioning him also were those warring, saying, 'And we, what shall we do?' and he said unto them, 'Do violence to no one, nor accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.' 15 And the people are looking forward, and all are reasoning in their hearts concerning John, whether or not he may be the Christ; 16 John answered, saying to all, 'I indeed with water do baptize you, but he comes who is mightier than I, of whom I am not worthy to loose the latchet of his sandals -- he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire; 17 whose winnowing shovel is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his floor, and will gather the wheat to his storehouse, and the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.' 18 And, therefore, indeed with many other things, exhorting, he was proclaiming good news to the people, 19 and Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him concerning Herodias the wife of Philip his brother, and concerning all the evils that Herod did, 20 added also this to all, that he shut up John in the prison.

Luke 7:28-35

28 for I say to you, a greater prophet, among those born of women, than John the Baptist there is not; but the least in the reign of God is greater than he.' 29 And all the people having heard, and the tax-gatherers, declared God righteous, having been baptized with the baptism of John, 30 but the Pharisees, and the lawyers, the counsel of God did put away for themselves, not having been baptized by him. 31 And the Lord said, 'To what, then, shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? 32 they are like to children, to those sitting in a market-place, and calling one to another, and saying, We piped to you, and you did not dance, we mourned to you, and you did not weep! 33 'For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, He has a demon; 34 the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, Lo, a man, a glutton, and a wine drinker, a friend of tax-gatherers and sinners; 35 and the wisdom was justified from all her children.'

Luke 20:5

5 And they reasoned with themselves, saying -- 'If we may say, From heaven, he will say, Therefore, then, did you not believe him?

John 1:6

6 There came a man -- having been sent from God -- whose name is John,

John 1:15

15 John does testify concerning him, and has cried, saying, 'This was he of whom I said, He who after me is coming, has come before me, for he was before me;'

John 1:25-34

25 and they questioned him and said to him, 'Why, then, do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?' 26 John answered them, saying, 'I baptize with water, but in midst of you he has stood whom you have not known, this one it is who is coming after me, who has been before me, 27 of whom I am not worthy that I may loose the cord of his sandal.' 28 These things came to pass in Bethabara, beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing, 29 on the morrow John sees Jesus coming unto him, and said, 'Lo, the Lamb of God, who is taking away the sin of the world; 30 this is he concerning whom I said, After me does come a man, who has come before me, because he was before me: 31 and I knew him not, but, that he might be manifested to Israel, because of this I came with the water baptizing. 32 And John testified, saying -- 'I have seen the Spirit coming down, as a dove, out of heaven, and it remained on him; 33 and I did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water, He said to me, On whomsoever you mayest see the Spirit coming down, and remaining on him, this is he who is baptizing with the Holy Spirit; 34 and I have seen, and have testified, that this is the Son of God.'

John 3:18

18 he who is believing in him is not judged, but he who is not believing has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 3:26-36

26 and they came unto John, and said to him, 'Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you did testify, lo, this one is baptizing, and all are coming unto him.' 27 John answered and said, 'A man is not able to receive anything, if it may not have been given him from the heaven; 28 you yourselves do testify to me that I said, I am not the Christ, but, that I am having been sent before him; 29 he who is having the bride is bridegroom, and the friend of the bridegroom, who is standing and hearing him, with joy does rejoice because of the voice of the bridegroom; this, then, my joy has been fulfilled. 30 'Him it behooves to increase, and me to become less; 31 he who from above is coming is above all; he who is from the earth, from the earth he is, and from the earth he speaks; he who from the heaven is coming is above all. 32 'And what he has seen and heard this he does testify, and his testimony none receives; 33 he who is receiving his testimony did seal that God is true; 34 for he whom God sent, the sayings of God he speaks; for not by measure does God give the Spirit; 35 the Father does love the Son, and all things has given into his hand; 36 he who is believing in the Son, has life age-during; and he who is not believing the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God does remain upon him.'

John 5:33-36

33 you have sent unto John, and he has testified to the truth. 34 'But I do not receive testimony from man, but these things I say that you may be saved; 35 he was the burning and shining lamp, and you did will to be glad, for an hour, in his light. 36 'But I have the testimony greater than John's, for the works that the Father gave me, that I might finish them, the works themselves that I do, they testify concerning me, that the Father has sent me.

John 5:44-47

44 how are you able -- you -- to believe, glory from one another receiving, and the glory that is from God alone you seek not? 45 'Do not think that I will accuse you unto the Father; there is who is accusing you, Moses -- in whom you have hoped; 46 for if you were believing Moses, you would have been believing me, for he wrote concerning me; 47 but if his writings you believe not, how shall you believe my sayings?'

John 10:25-26

25 Jesus answered them, 'I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in the name of my Father, these testify concerning me; 26 but you do not believe, for you are not of my sheep,

John 12:37-43

37 yet he having done so many signs before them, they were not believing in him, 38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said, 'Lord, who gave credence to our report? and the arm of the Lord -- to whom was it revealed?' 39 Because of this they were not able to believe, that again Isaiah said, 40 'He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they might not see with the eyes, and understand with the heart, and turn back, and I might heal them;' 41 these things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spake of him. 42 Still, however, also out of the rulers did many believe in him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing, that they might not be put out of the synagogue, 43 for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.

Matthew 23:16-28

16 'Woo to you, blind guides, who are saying, Whoever may swear by the sanctuary, it is nothing, but whoever may swear by the gold of the sanctuary -- is debtor! 17 Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold, or the sanctuary that is sanctifying the gold? 18 'And, whoever may swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever may swear by the gift that is upon it -- is debtor! 19 Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that is sanctifying the gift? 20 'He therefore who did swear by the altar, does swear by it, and by all things on it; 21 and he who did swear by the sanctuary, does swear by it, and by Him who is dwelling in it; 22 and he who did swear by the heaven, does swear by the throne of God, and by Him who is sitting upon it. 23 'Woo to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you give tithe of the mint, and the dill, and the cumin, and did neglect the weightier things of the Law -- the judgment, and the kindness, and the faith; these it behoved you to do, and those not to neglect. 24 'Blind guides! Who are straining out the gnat, and the camel are swallowing. 25 'Woo to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you make clean the outside of the cup and the plate, and within they are full of rapine and incontinence. 26 'Blind Pharisee! Cleanse first the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside of them also may become clean. 27 'Woo to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Romans 1:18-22

18 for revealed is the wrath of God from heaven upon all impiety and unrighteousness of men, holding down the truth in unrighteousness. 19 Because that which is known of God is manifest among them, for God did manifest it to them, 20 for the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world, by the things made being understood, are plainly seen, both His eternal power and Godhead -- to their being inexcusable; 21 because, having known God they did not glorify Him as God, nor gave thanks, but were made vain in their reasonings, and their unintelligent heart was darkened, 22 professing to be wise, they were made fools,

1 Also you -- being dead in the trespasses and the sins, 2 in which once you did walk according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all did walk once in the desires of our flesh, doing the wishes\'7bdesires\'7d of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath -- as also the others, 4 and God, being rich in kindness, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even being dead in the trespasses, made us to live together with the Christ, (by grace you are having been saved,) 6 and raised us up together, and did seat us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that He might show, in the ages that are coming, the exceeding\'7bsuperb\'7d riches of His grace in kindness\'7bgoodness\'7d toward us in Christ Jesus, 8 for by grace you are having been saved, through faith, and this not of you -- of God the gift, 9 not of works, that no one may boast; 10 for of Him we are workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God did before prepare, that in them we may walk. 11 Therefore, remember, that you were once the nations in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that called Circumcision in the flesh made by hands, 12 that you were at that time apart from Christ, having been alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope, and without God, in the world; 13 and now, in Christ Jesus, you being once afar off became near in the blood of the Christ,

Ephesians 4:17-19

17 This, then, I say, and I testify in the Lord; you are no more to walk, as also the other nations walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 being darkened in the understanding, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart, 19 who, having ceased to feel, themselves did give up to the lasciviousness\'7blewdness\'7d, for the working of all uncleanness\'7bimpurity\'7d in greediness;

I entered into your house; water for my feet you did not give, but this woman with tears did wet my feet, and with the hairs of her head did wipe; 45 a kiss to me you did not give, but this woman, from what time I came in, did not cease kissing my feet; 46 with oil my head you did not anoint, but this woman with ointment did anoint my feet; 47 therefore I say to you, her many sins have been forgiven, because she did love much; but to whom little is forgiven, little he does love.' 48 And he said to her, 'Your sins have been forgiven;' 49 and those reclining with him (at meat) began to say within themselves, 'Who is this, who also does forgive sins?' 50 and he said unto the woman, 'Your faith have saved you, be going on to peace.'
