¹⁷ Pray without ceasing.

⁵ This is a proof of God's righteous judgment. It is to make you worthy of God's kingdom, on behalf of which you are suffering, ⁶ since it is just on God's part to repay with trouble those who are troubling you,

⁵ But you must be calm in all circumstances, suffer hardships, do the work of a bringer of the good news, carry out fully all the duties of your office.

⁷ The end of all things is near. Therefore be serious and sober and give yourselves to prayer.

⁸ Be sober, watch. Your enemy the Devil, like a roaring lion, goes about seeking some one to devour.

²⁸ And now, little children, remain in him so that if he appears we may have confidence and not shrink in shame from him at his coming.

²⁴ To him who is able to guard you from falling and to make you stand faultless before his glory in great joy,
