²⁰ He who received seed on stony ground is he who bears the word and receives it at once with joy,

⁵ Others fell on rocky places where they had not much soil, and at once they sprang up because they had no depth of soil. ⁶ But when the sun rose they were scorched, and because they had no roots they withered.

¹⁶ These are they likewise who received seed on stony places — such as hear and immediately and gladly receive the word, ¹⁷ but, since they have no root, but are fickle, whenever trouble or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately they fail.
