²¹ Leaving that place, Jesus retired into the region of Tyre and Sidon.

²¹ "Alas for you, Chorazin! Alas for you, Bethsaida! For if in Tyre and Sidon the miracles had been done which were done in you, they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes. ²² But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you. ²³ And you, Capernaum! No, you will not be exalted to heaven. You will be abased to Hades. Because if those miracles which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

²⁴ Leaving that place, Jesus went into the borders of Tyre. He entered a house and did not wish any one to know it, but he could not escape notice. ²⁵ At once a woman whose daughter was afflicted by an impure spirit heard about him, and she came and fell at his feet. ²⁶ The woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race. She begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter. ²⁷ But he said, "Let the children be well fed first. For it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." ²⁸ She answered, "Yes, Sir, even the dogs under the table eat from the children's crumbs." ²⁹ Then he said to her, "For this answer, go. The demon has gone out of your daughter." ³⁰ She returned to her house and found the child lying on the bed and the demon gone.
