²⁰ Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee, with her sons, bowing down to him and making a request of him.

¹¹ They entered the house and saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and presented to him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

²¹ Going on from there, he saw two other brothers — James the son of Zebedee and John his brother — in their boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

But whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, ⁴⁴ and whoever of you wishes to be first shall be the slave of all. ⁴⁵ For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many."
