²¹ Now, when they heard this, they entered, under the dawn, into the temple, and began teaching. And the High–priest and they who were with him, arriving, called together the high–council, and all the senate of the sons of Israel; and sent off unto the prison, to have them brought.

²² That he might bind his rulers as he pleased, And, his elders, he might embue with wisdom.

²² But, I, say unto you, that, every one who is angry with his brother, shall be, liable, to judgment,––and, whosoever shall say to his brother, Worthless one!, shall be, liable, to the high council; and, whosoever shall say, Rebel!, shall be, liable, unto the fiery gehenna.

³⁷ And he was, by day, in the temple, teaching; but, by night, going forth, he was lodging in the mount which is called the Mount of Olives. ³⁸ And, all the people, were coming at day–break unto him, in the temple, to be hearkening unto him.

⁶⁶ And, when it became day, the Eldership of the people was gathered together––both High–priests and Scribes,––and they led him away into their high–council, saying––If, thou, art the Christ, tell us!

² And, early in the morning, again, came he into the temple, [and all the people were coming unto him; and, sitting down, he began to teach them.]

³⁵ Pilate answered––Am, I, a Jew? Thine own nation, and the High–priests, delivered thee up, unto me! What, hast thou done?

⁵ And it came to pass, upon the morrow, that there were gathered together of them, the rulers and the elders and the scribes, in Jerusalem; ⁶ Also Annas, the high–priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of high–priestly descent; –– ⁷ And, setting them in the midst, they began to enquire––In what manner of power, or in what manner of name, did, ye, do this?

¹⁷ But the High–priest, arising, and all who were with him,––being the sect of the Sadducees,––were filled with jealousy,

²⁴ Now, when both the captain of the temple and the High–priests heard these words, they were utterly at a loss concerning them––what perhaps this might come to. ²⁵ But some one, entering, brought tidings unto them––Lo! the men whom ye put in the prison, are in the temple, standing, and teaching the people!

²⁷ But, leading them in, set them in the high– council. And the High–priest questioned them,

³⁴ But a certain man, rising up in the high–council, by name Gamaliel, a law–teacher honoured by all the people, gave orders to put the men, outside, for a little,––

⁴¹ They, therefore, went rejoicing from the presence of the high–council; in that they had been accounted worthy, in behalf of The Name, to suffer dishonour.

¹⁸ And, when it became day, there was no small commotion among the soldiers, as to what, then, Peter had become! ¹⁹ And, Herod, seeking after and not finding, him, having examined the guards, ordered them to be led away [to death]; and, going down from Judaea unto Caesarea, stayed there.

² And, when they heard that, in the Hebrew language, he had begun to address them, they kept the more quiet. And he saith––
³ I, am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but nurtured in this city, at the feet of Gamaliel,––trained after the strictness of our ancestral law; being jealous for God just as, all ye, are this day;

¹⁵ Because thou shalt be a witness to him unto all men, of the things which thou hast seen and heard.
