²⁵ and they questioned him, and said unto him––Why, then, dost thou immerse,––if, thou, art not, the Christ, nor Elijah, nor, the Prophet?

¹⁵ A prophet out of thy midst, of thy brethren, like unto me, will Yahweh thy God, raise up unto thee––unto him, shall ye hearken:––

¹⁸ A prophet, will I raise up unto them, out of the midst of their brethren, like unto thee,––and I will put my words in his mouth, so shall he speak unto them whatsoever I shall command him.

²⁴ Seventy weeks, have been divided concerning thy people and concerning thy holy city––to put an end to the transgression, and fill up the measure of sin, and put a propitiatory–covering over iniquity, and bring in the righteousness of ages, and affix a seal the vision and prophecy, and anoint the holy of holies. ²⁵ Thou must know, then, and understand: From the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem––unto the Anointed One, the Prince, [shall be] seven weeks, and sixty–two weeks,––the broadway and the wall, shall again be built, even in the end of the times. ²⁶ And, after the sixty–two weeks, shall the Anointed One, be cut off, and have, nothing,––and, the city and the sanctuary, will one destroy with the Prince, and so will his own end come with an overwhelming flood, howbeit, up to the full end of the war, are decreed astounding things.

²³ And, when he, entered, the temple, the Chief–priests and the Elders of the people, came unto him as he was teaching, saying, By what authority, these things, art thou doing? and, who, to thee, gave, this authority?

²⁰ and he confessed, and did not deny,––and he confessed––I, am not, the Christ; ²¹ and they questioned him––What then? Art, thou, Elijah? and he saith––I am not; The prophet, art, thou? and he answered––No! ²² So they said unto him––Who, art thou? that, an answer, we may give, unto them who sent us,––What sayest thou, concerning thyself?

⁵ And it came to pass, upon the morrow, that there were gathered together of them, the rulers and the elders and the scribes, in Jerusalem; ⁶ Also Annas, the high–priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of high–priestly descent; –– ⁷ And, setting them in the midst, they began to enquire––In what manner of power, or in what manner of name, did, ye, do this?

²⁸ Saying––Strictly, did we charge you not to be teaching upon this name; and lo! ye have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and are minded to bring down upon us, the blood of this man.
