^{5 (1:2)} And this is the message which we have heard from him and declare to you, That God is light, and with him there is no darkness.

⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of men;

⁹ The light was the true [light] which lights every man that comes into the world.

^{12 (11:1)} THEN Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life.

⁵ While I am in the world I am the light of the world.

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, Yet a little while is the light with you; walk while you have the light, that darkness may not overtake you; for he that walks in darkness knows not where he goes. ³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may be children of light. Jesus said these things, and went away and concealed himself from them.
