¹⁰ He that loves his brother continues in the light, and there is no offense in him;

²¹ but has no root in himself, but is only a temporary [disciple]; and when affliction or persecution arises on account of the word, he is immediately offended.

^{7 (16:2)} Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must necessarily come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
