⁴ who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from the present evil life according to the will of God even our Father,

⁹ Pray, therefore, thus; Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name;

²⁸ as the Son of man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.

²⁸ this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

⁴² saying, Father, if thou wilt, take this cup away from me; but not my will, but thine be done.

³⁰ I can do nothing of myself; as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, for I seek not my will, but the will of him that sent me.

³⁸ for I came down from heaven not to do my will, but the will of him that sent me.

^{11 (12:9)} I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.

¹⁷ Therefore my Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it again. ¹⁸ No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have a right to lay it down, and I have a right to take it again; this commandment have I received from my Father.

³¹ There is now a judgment of this world; the ruler of this world shall now be cast out;

³⁰ I will not speak with you much more; for the ruler of this world comes and has nothing in me; ³¹ but [I have said this] that the world may know that I love the Father, and that as the Father has commanded me, so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

^{18 (17:2)} If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before you. ¹⁹ If you were of this world, the world would be a friend to its own; but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

^{14 (18:3)} I have given them thy word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, as I am not of the world. ¹⁵ I ask not that thou wouldst take them out of the world, but that thou wouldst keep them from evil.

⁷ to all who are at Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints. Grace be to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁵ who was delivered up for our sins and raised for our justification.

³ For what the law could not do because it was weak through the flesh, God having sent his Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned the sin in the flesh,

²⁷ and he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because it makes intercession with God for the saints.

³² He who spared not his Son, but gave him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things?

² and be not conformed to this life, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, that you may prove what is the will of God which is good and well-pleasing and perfect.

⁴ in whom the god of this life has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God, may not shine.

²⁰ I am crucified with Christ; and I no longer live myself, but Christ lives in me; and the present life which I live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

¹⁴ But far be it from me to glory, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified to me and I to the world.

² Grace be to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. ^{3 (1:2)} Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly [worlds] in Christ,

¹¹ in whom also we have been called, having been predestinated according to the purpose of him who works out all things according to the counsel of his will,

² in which you formerly walked according to the life of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit which now operates in the children of disobedience,

² and walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, an offering and sacrifice to God of good odor.

¹² for our conflict is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the potentates of the darkness of this world, against the spiritual [hosts] of evil in the heavenly [worlds].

²⁰ To our God and Father be the glory forever and ever; amen.

^{11 (1:9)} And may God himself, even our Father, and our Lord Jesus direct our way to you;

¹³ to confirm your hearts without blame in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

¹⁶ and our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us eternal consolation and a good hope by grace,

⁶ who gave himself a ransom for all, a testimony for its own times,

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all wickedness, and purify for himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

^{5 (1:3)} For he did not subject to angels the world to come, of which we speak.

⁵ and having tasted of the good word of God and the powers of the life to come,

¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of Christ, who with an eternal spirit offered himself without fault to God, purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

⁴ for it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. ⁵ Wherefore, coming into the world, he says, A sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire, but a body didst thou prepare me. ⁶ Whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou wast not pleased with; ⁷ then I said, Behold, I come,—in the volume of the book it is written of me,—to do thy will, O God. ⁸ Saying before, Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and [sacrifices] for sin thou didst not desire and wast not pleased with, which are offered according to the law, ⁹ then he said, Behold, I come to do thy will. He takes away the first, that he may establish the second, ¹⁰ by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all.

⁴ Adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity against God? Whoever therefore wishes to be a friend of the world, is made an enemy of God.

²⁴ who himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, that we having died to sins, may live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.

¹⁸ For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might lead us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,

² and he is a propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but for all the world.

¹⁵ Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If any one loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; ¹⁶ for all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. ¹⁷ And the world passes away, and its desires; but he that does the will of God continues for ever.

¹⁶ By this we have known love, because he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

⁴ for every child that has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory which overcomes the world, our faith. ⁵ Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

¹⁹ We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness. ²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding that we may know the true One; and we are in the true One, in his Son Jesus Christ; this is the true God, and eternal life.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first born from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him that loved us and washed us from our sins with his blood,

⁹ And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book and to open its seals, for thou wast killed and hast redeemed to God with thy blood [men] from every tribe and tongue and people and nation,

^{9 (4:9)} After this I saw, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could number, of every nation and of all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and having palm branches in their hands;
