1 (1:1) THE beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
2 as it is written in Isaiah the prophet; Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way.
3 A voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord! Make his paths straight.
4 (1:2) John baptized in the wilderness, preaching the baptism of a change of mind for the forgiveness of sins.
5 And all the country of Judea and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
6 (1:3) And John was clothed with camel's hairs and a leather girdle about his loins, and he eat locusts and wild honey,
7 and preached, saying, After me comes one mightier than I, the strings of whose shoes I am not fit to stoop down and untie;
8 I have baptized you with water, but he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit.
9 (1:4) In those days came Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized in the Jordan by John;
10 and going up immediately out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit descend like a dove upon him;
11 and there was a voice from heaven, You are my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.
12 And the Spirit immediately drove him into the wilderness,
13 and he was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the beasts; and the angels waited on him.
14 (1:5) And after John was delivered up Jesus came into Galilee preaching the good news of God,
15 saying, The time is completed, and the kingdom of God is at hand; change your minds and believe in the good news.
16 And passing along by the lake of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew, Simon's brother, casting [a net] into the lake, for they were fishermen.
17 And Jesus said to them, Come after me, and I will make you fishermen of men.
18 And immediately leaving their nets they followed him.
19 And proceeding a little further on he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; and they were in the ship mending the nets;
20 and he immediately called them. And leaving their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired men, they went away after him.
21 (1:6) And they entered into Capernaum, and immediately on the sabbath he taught in the synagogues.
22 And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.
23 (1:7) And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an impure spirit, and he cried out,
24 saying, What have you to do with us, Jesus Nazarene? have you come to destroy us? We know you who you are, the holy [Son] of God!
25 And Jesus rebuked him saying, Be still, and come out of him.
26 And the impure spirit affecting him with convulsions, and crying with a loud voice, came out of him.
27 And all were astonished, so that they inquired among themselves, saying, What is this? a new teaching with authority, and does he command the impure spirits and they obey him?
28 And his fame went out immediately into all the country about Galilee.
29 (1:8) And going immediately out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John;
30 and Simon's mother-in-law was lying with a fever; and immediately they told him of her.
31 And coming, he took her by the hand, and raised her up, and the fever immediately left her, and she waited on them.
32 (1:9) And at evening when the sun went down they brought to him all that were sick, and the demoniacs;
33 and the whole city was assembled at the door.
34 And he healed many that were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons, and suffered not the demons to say that they knew him.
35 (1:10) And in the morning while it was quite dark he arose and went out, and departed to a solitary place, and there prayed.
36 And Simon and those with him followed him,
37 and said to him, All men seek you.
38 And he said to them, Let us go elsewhere to the adjoining villages to preach there; because for this purpose have I come.
39 And he preached in their synagogues in all Galilee, and cast out demons.
40 (1:11) And a leper came to him beseeching him, saying to him, If you will, you can cleanse me.
41 And having compassion on him, he stretched out his hand and touched him, and said to him, I will; be cleansed.
42 And the leprosy immediately left him, and he was cleansed.
43 And giving him a strict charge, he immediately sent him away,
44 and said to him, See that you say nothing to any one, but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
45 And going out he spread and published abroad the report, to such an extent that he [Jesus] could no longer go openly into a city, but was without in solitary places; and they came to him from every quarter.

4 And when he ceased speaking, he said to Simon, Put out into the deep water, and let down your nets for a draught.
5 And Simon answered and said to him, Master, we have labored all night and taken nothing; but at your word I will let down the net.

35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hush! and come out of him. And the demon casting him into the midst came out of him, doing him no injury.

16 (11:4) And Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand, said, Men of Israel, and you that fear God, hear.

21 And then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, forty years;

24 John having preached before his coming the baptism of a change of mind to all the people of Israel.

26 (11:6) Men and brothers, children of the race of Abraham, and you that fear God, the word of this salvation is sent to you.
27 For those living at Jerusalem, and their rulers, not knowing him and the words of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning [him];
28 and [although] they found no cause of death [in him], they requested of Pilate that he might be destroyed;
29 and when they had performed all things written of him, they took him down from the cross and placed him in a tomb.
30 But God raised him from the dead,
31 and he appeared many days to those who went up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.
32 And we declare to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers,
33 that God has fulfilled this to us their children in raising up Jesus, as it is written also in the first psalm, You are my son, to-day have I begotten you.
34 And that he raised him from the dead never more to return to destruction, he said thus; I will give you the sure promises of David.
35 Wherefore also in another place he says, Thou wilt not suffer thy holy one to see destruction.
36 For David, having in his generation served the will of God, fell asleep, and was gathered to his fathers and saw destruction;
37 but he whom God raised up saw not destruction.
38 Be it known to you therefore, men and brothers, that through this man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins,
39 and every one who believes is justified by him from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

41 Behold, despisers, and wonder and perish, for I perform a work in your days, a work which you shall by no means believe even if one declares it to you.
42 (11:7) And when they had gone out, [the people] requested that these words might be spoken to them on the next sabbath.
43 And the congregation being dismissed, many of the Jews and pious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who gave them additional instructions, and persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
44 And on the following sabbath almost all the city came together to hear the word of the Lord.
45 And the Jews seeing the multitudes were filled with envy, and contradicted the things said by Paul, disputing and blaspheming.
46 And both Paul and Barnabas speaking boldly said, It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you; but since you cast it away, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the gentiles.
47 For thus has the Lord commanded us; I have set you for a light of nations, that you should be a salvation even to the end of the earth.
48 And the gentiles hearing this rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed;
49 and the word of the Lord was spread through all the country.
50 But the Jews excited the pious and honorable women, and the first men of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and cast them out from their limits.

18 If a man swears by the altar, it is nothing; but if be swears by the gift which is on it, he is bound.

21 and he that swears by the temple, swears by it, and by him that inhabits it;

3 For the Pharisees and all the Jews eat not unless they wash their hands with the fist, holding the tradition of the elders.
4 And from a market, unless they baptize they eat not; and there are many other [customs] which they have received to hold; baptisms, of cups and sextuses [ 1 1-2 pint measures], and brass vessels, and beds.
5 And the Pharisees and scribes asked, Why do not your disciples conform to the tradition of the elders; but eat bread with defiled hands?
6 (7:2) And he said to them, Well did Isaiah prophecy of you, hypocrites, as it is written; This people honors me with the lips, but their heart is far from me;
7 but in vain do they worship me, teaching for teachings the commandments of men;
8 for leaving the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men.
9 (7:3) And he said to them, Well do you reject the commandment of God, to keep your tradition;
10 for Moses said, Honor your father and your mother, and, He that reviles father or mother, let him surely die.
11 But you say, If a man says to his father or mother, It is a corban, which is a gift, by whatever you might be profited by me, [he shall be free];
12 and suffer him no longer to do any thing for his father or his mother;
