⁸ And he arose, and ate and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights to Horeb the mount of God.

¹ Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian: And he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

¹⁸ And Mount Sinai was altogether raging smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: And its smoke ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

¹⁸ And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and got himself up into the mount: And Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.

²⁸ And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread, nor drank water. And He wrote upon the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

⁹ When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tablets of stone, even the tablets of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I stayed in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither ate bread nor drink water: ¹⁰ And the LORD delivered to me two tablets of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spoke with you in the mount out of the middle of the fire on the day of the assembly. ¹¹ And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tablets of stone, even the tablets of the covenant.

¹⁸ And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which you sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

¹⁵ And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which had eaten the portion of the king's food.

⁴ "Remember the law of Moses My servant, all of you, which I commanded to him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. ⁵ Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

² And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.

¹³ And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to Him.

⁹ And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you: For My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, I will most gladly rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
