³ As I entreated you to still abide in Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that you might exhort some men that they teach no other doctrine,

¹⁹ And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: But he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

¹ And it came to pass, that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: And finding certain disciples, ² he said to them, "Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?" But they said to him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." ³ And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism." ⁴ Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe upon Him which should come after him, that is, upon Christ Jesus." ⁵ When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. ⁶ And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied. ⁷ Now the men were about twelve in all. ⁸ And he went into the synagogue, and spoke boldly for a span of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. ⁹ But when different people were hardened, and did not believe, but spoke evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and withdrew the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. ¹⁰ And this continued for a span of two years; so that all those who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

¹ After the uproar had ceased, Paul called the disciples to himself, embraced them, and departed to go into Macedonia. ² Now when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece, ³ and abode there three months. And when the Jews laid in wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.

⁶ I marvel that you have so soon turned away from Him that called you into the grace of Christ to another gospel: ⁷ Which is not another; but there are some who trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

¹⁴ That from this time forward we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the artful tricks of men, and cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive;

²⁴ But I trust in the Lord that I myself shall also come shortly.

⁶ Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him: ⁷ Rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. ⁸ Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the first principles of the world, and not according to Christ. ⁹ For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. ¹⁰ And you are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power. ¹¹ In Whom you also are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the sins of the flesh from the body, by the circumcision of Christ:

⁶ If you put the brethren in remembrance of these things, you shall be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of good doctrine, to which you have attained.

¹¹ These things command and teach.

⁷ And these things give as instructions, that they may be blameless.

³ If any man teaches otherwise, and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: Which while coveting after, some have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

¹⁷ Charge those that are rich in this world, that they are not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;

⁹ holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the deniers. ¹⁰ For there are many unruly and vain talkers, and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision: ¹¹ Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not to, for the sake of filthy profit.

⁷ For many deceivers have entered into the world, who do not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

⁹ Whoever transgresses, and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son. ¹⁰ If anyone comes to you, and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house, neither bid him God-speed:

¹ To the angel of the church of Ephesus write; 'These things says He that holds the seven stars in His right hand, Who walks in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; ² "I know your works, your labor, your patience, and how you cannot bear those which are evil: And you have examined those which say they are apostles, and are not, and have found them liars:

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you, because you have there those that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to throw a stumbling-block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit fornication.

²⁰ Notwithstanding I have a few things against you, because you let that woman Jezebel, which calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce My servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.
