⁶ But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

¹ And the LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go, I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite: For I have provided Me a king among his sons."

⁴ However, the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever: For he has chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:

¹³ So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: For Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

¹⁹ Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, and said, "I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. ²⁰ I have found David My servant; with My holy oil I have anointed him:

¹³ For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation.

³² What then shall one answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD has founded Zion, and the poor of His people shall take refuge in it.
