²⁸ And Moses said, "Hereby you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of my own mind. ²⁹ If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD has not sent me. ³⁰ But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain to them, and they go down quick into the pit; then you shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. ³¹ And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground split asunder that was under them: ³² And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained to Korah, and all their goods. ³³ They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed on them: And they perished from among the congregation. ³⁴ And all Israel that were all around them fled at the cry of them: For they said, "Lest the earth swallow us up also. ³⁵ And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

²⁸ And Micaiah said, "If you return at all in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me. And he said, "Listen, O people, every one of you.

⁹ Then the king sent to him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: And behold, he sat on the top of a hill. And he spoke to him, You man of God, the king has said, "Come down. ¹⁰ And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume you and your fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. ¹¹ Again also he sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said to him, "O man of God, thus has the king said, "Come down quickly. ¹² And Elijah answered and said to them, "If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume you and your fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. ¹³ And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and sought him, and said to him, "O man of God, I implore you, let my life, and the life of these fifty your servants, be precious in your sight.

²³ And he went up from there to Bethel: And as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said to him, "Go up, you bald head; go up, you bald head. ²⁴ And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them. ²⁵ And he went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

² As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the causeless curse shall not come.

³⁹ But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him: For there is no man who does a miracle in My name, that can quickly afterward speak evil of Me.

¹⁷ And these signs shall follow those who believe; in My name they shall cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; ¹⁸ they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." ¹⁹ So then after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

⁴⁹ Moreover John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out devils in Your name; and we forbade him, because he does not follow with us." ⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him: For he that is not against us is for us." ⁵¹ And it came to pass, when the time had come that he was to be received up, He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, ⁵² and sent messengers before His face: And they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for Him. ⁵³ And they did not receive Him, because His face was as though He would go to Jerusalem. ⁵⁴ And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, would you like that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did?" ⁵⁵ But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. ⁵⁶ For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them." And they went to another village.

²⁸ to do whatever Your hand and Your counsel determined beforehand to be done. ²⁹ And now Lord, behold their threats: And grant to Your servants, that with all boldness they may speak Your word, ³⁰ by stretching forth Your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Your holy Child Jesus."

¹ But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, ² and kept back part of the price paid, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part of it, and laid it at the apostles' feet. ³ But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land? ⁴ While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own power? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God." ⁵ Now Ananias, hearing these words, fell down, and gave up the ghost: Therefore great fear came on all those that heard these things. ⁶ And the young men arose, wound him up, carried him out, and buried him. ⁷ Moreover it was about three hours later, when his wife came in, not knowing what was done. ⁸ And Peter answered to her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?" And she said, "Yes, for so much." ⁹ Then Peter said to her, "How is it that you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they shall carry you out." ¹⁰ Then she fell down immediately at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: And the young men came in, and found her dead, and carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. ¹¹ Therefore great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

³ Then, when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. ⁴ So then, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, they departed to Seleucia; and from there they sailed to Cyprus. ⁵ And when they were at Salamis, they preached the Word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: And they also had John as their minister. ⁶ Moreover when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus: ⁷ Who was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the Word of God. ⁸ But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn the deputy away from the faith. ⁹ Then Saul (who also is called Paul), filled with the Holy Spirit, set his eyes on him, ¹⁰ and said, "O full of all craftiness and all mischief, you child of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? ¹¹ And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a season." And immediately there fell upon him a mist and a darkness; and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand. ¹² Then the deputy, when he saw what had been done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

¹¹ And God worked special miracles by the hands of Paul: ¹² So that handkerchiefs or aprons from his body were brought to the sick, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. ¹³ Then certain ones of the vegabond Jews, exorcists, took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, "We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches." ¹⁴ And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and a chief of the priests, who did so. ¹⁵ And the evil spirit answered and said, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?" ¹⁶ Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. ¹⁷ Moreover this was known to all the Jews and also Greeks dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

⁴ in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, ⁵ to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

⁸ For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord has given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:

¹⁰ Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord has given me for edification, and not to destruction.

²⁰ Of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered to Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

³ how shall we escape, if we neglect such great salvation; which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those that heard Him; ⁴ God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, with diverse miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?
