¹ Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers; like Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen, who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. ² As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." ³ Then, when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. ⁴ So then, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, they departed to Seleucia; and from there they sailed to Cyprus. ⁵ And when they were at Salamis, they preached the Word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: And they also had John as their minister. ⁶ Moreover when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus: ⁷ Who was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the Word of God. ⁸ But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn the deputy away from the faith. ⁹ Then Saul (who also is called Paul), filled with the Holy Spirit, set his eyes on him, ¹⁰ and said, "O full of all craftiness and all mischief, you child of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? ¹¹ And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a season." And immediately there fell upon him a mist and a darkness; and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand. ¹² Then the deputy, when he saw what had been done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord. ¹³ Now when Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: And John departing from them returned to Jerusalem. ¹⁴ But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and sat down. ¹⁵ And after the reading of the Law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, "You men and brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, speak now." ¹⁶ Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, "Men of Israel, and you that fear God, give audience. ¹⁷ The God of the people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with a powerful arm He brought them out of it. ¹⁸ Then, for a period of about forty years He suffered their mannerisms in the wilderness. ¹⁹ And when He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He divided their land to them by lot. ²⁰ "And after that He gave judges to them for a period of about four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet. ²¹ And afterward they desired a king: Therefore God gave to them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for a period of forty years. ²² And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David to be their king; to whom also He gave testimony, and said, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who shall fulfill all My will.' ²³ From this man's seed, God has, according to His promise, raised up to Israel a Savior, Jesus: ²⁴ When John had first preached, before His coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. ²⁵ And as John fulfilled his course, he said, 'Who do you think that I am? I am not He. But behold, there comes One after me, whose shoes of His feet I am not worthy to loose.' ²⁶ "Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whoever among you that fears God, to you the word of this salvation is sent. ²⁷ For those that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning Him. ²⁸ And though they found no cause for death in Him, yet they desired of Pilate that He should be slain. ²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all that was written about Him, they took Him down from the tree, and laid Him in a sepulchre. ³⁰ But God raised Him from the dead: ³¹ And He was seen for many days by those that came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people. ³² And we declare to you glad tidings, how the promise which was made to the fathers, ³³ God has fulfilled the same for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second Psalm, 'You are My Son, this day I have begotten You.' ³⁴ And concerning how He raised Him from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, He spoke in this manner, 'I will give you the sure mercies of David.' ³⁵ Therefore He also says in another Psalm, 'You shall not permit Your Holy One to see corruption.' ³⁶ "For David, after he had served the will of God in his own generation, fell asleep dead, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption: ³⁷ But He, whom God raised again, saw no corruption. ³⁸ Therefore let it be known to you, men and brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins: ³⁹ And by Him all that believe are justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. ⁴⁰ Beware therefore, lest that which is spoken of in the prophets come upon you; ⁴¹ 'Behold, you despisers, wonder, and perish: For I work a work in your days, a work which you shall in no way believe, though a man declare it to you.' " ⁴² And when the Jews had gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles entreated that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. ⁴³ Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: Who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. ⁴⁴ And the next Sabbath day almost the whole city came together to hear the Word of God. ⁴⁵ But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spoke against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming. ⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, "It was necessary that the Word of God should first have been spoken to you: But seeing you put it away from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. ⁴⁷ For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, 'I have set you to be a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.' " ⁴⁸ Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: And as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. ⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region. ⁵⁰ But the Jews stirred up the devout and honorable women, and the chief men of the city, and stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their borders. ⁵¹ But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and came to Iconium. ⁵² And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Spirit.

¹ At that time Herod the tetrarch heard about the fame of Jesus, ² and said to his servants, "This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works show forth themselves in him." ³ For Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife. ⁴ Because John said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her." ⁵ And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. ⁶ But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. ⁷ Upon that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she would ask. ⁸ And she, being instructed beforehand by her mother, said, "Give me John the Baptist's head here on a platter." ⁹ And the king was sorry: Nevertheless, for the oath's sake, and those who sat with him at the table, he commanded it to be given to her. ¹⁰ So he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

¹ Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,tetrarch; or, governor of four provinces

¹⁹ But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him over Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done, ²⁰ yet above all added this, that he shut up John in prison.

³¹ The same day there came certain ones of the Pharisees, saying to Him, "Get out, and depart from this place: For Herod will kill You." ³² And He said to them, "You go, and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.'

⁷ And as soon as he knew that He belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who himself was also in Jerusalem at that time. ⁸ Moreover when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad: For he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by Him. ⁹ Then he questioned Him with many words; but He answered him nothing. ¹⁰ And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused Him. ¹¹ Also Herod with his men of war disdained Him as nothing, mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

³⁶ And Joses, who was surnamed Barnabas by the apostles (which being interpreted is, The son of Consolation), a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,

¹ Moreover Saul was consenting to his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. ² And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. ³ As for Saul, he made havoc within the church, entering into every house; and hauling off men and women, committed them to prison.

¹ Then Saul, ever breathing out threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,

¹⁹ Now those that were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no one but to the Jews only. ²⁰ And some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.

²² Then tidings of these things came to the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: And they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. ²³ Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave to the Lord. ²⁴ For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith: And many people were added to the Lord. ²⁵ Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus, to seek Saul: ²⁶ And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And it came to pass, that for a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. ²⁷ And in these days prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch.

³⁰ Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

²⁵ And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.

⁹ Then Saul (who also is called Paul), filled with the Holy Spirit, set his eyes on him,

²⁶ And from there sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled. ²⁷ Moreover when they had come, and had gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and how He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

³² Now Judas and Silas, both being prophets themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

³⁵ Paul and Barnabas also continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

⁶ And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.

⁹ And the same man had four daughters, virgins, who prophesied.

⁶ Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; ⁷ or ministry, let us attend to our ministering: Or he that teaches, in teaching;

²¹ Timothy my fellow worker, and Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you.

⁶ Or is it only I and Barnabas that do not have power to abstain from working?

²⁸ And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. ²⁹ Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?

²⁴ But if all prophesy, and there comes in one that does not believe, or one unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is discerned by all: ²⁵ And in this way the secrets of his heart are made apparent; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is truly in you.

⁹ And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship; that we should go to the heathen, and they to the circumcised.

¹³ And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; so that even Barnabas was also carried away with their dissimulation.

¹¹ And He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers;

²² All the saints salute you, especially those that are of Caesar's household.

²⁰ Do not despise prophesying.

¹¹ And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD. ¹² And the Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls: And you shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, to the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites. ¹³ And you shall set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering to the LORD. ¹⁴ Thus shall you separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: And the Levites shall be mine.

⁸ At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to Him, and to bless in His name, to this day.

¹¹ And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child ministered to the LORD before Eli the priest.

⁴ And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:

³⁷ So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brothers, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required: ³⁸ And Obededom with their brothers, three score and eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters: ³⁹ And Zadok the priest, and his brothers the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon, ⁴⁰ to offer burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel; ⁴¹ and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endures forever; ⁴² and with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters. ⁴³ And all the people departed every man to his house: And David returned to bless his house.

³ And I set my face toward the LORD God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

¹⁶ Moreover, when you fast, do not be as the hypocrites, with a sad countenance: For they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to be fasting. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.

¹⁴ Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?" ¹⁵ And Jesus said to them, "Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then they shall fast.

³⁸ Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest."

³⁷ and she was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

¹ After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two and two before His face into every city and place, where He Himself was about to go.

⁴ But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word."

²⁹ Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go near, and join yourself to this chariot."

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, "Go your way: For he is a chosen vessel to Me, to bear My name before the Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel:

¹⁹ While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men seek you.

³⁰ And Cornelius said, "Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

³ Then, when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

²⁶ And from there sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

⁶ Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia, ⁷ after they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia: But the Spirit did not permit them.

²⁸ Therefore take heed to yourselves, and to all the flock, among whom the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which He has purchased with His own blood.

²¹ Then He said to me, 'Depart: For I will send you far from this place to the Gentiles.' "

¹ Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God,

¹⁵ And how shall they preach, except if they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"

¹⁶ that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

⁵ Do not defraud one another, except if it be with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan does not tempt you through your lack of self-control.

¹¹ But all these work effectually by that one and the exact same Spirit, dividing to every man distinctly as He wills.

⁵ in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watchings, in fastings;

²⁷ in weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

¹⁵ But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by His grace,

⁸ (for He that worked effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcised, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles): ⁹ And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship; that we should go to the heathen, and they to the circumcised.

⁷ Of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effectual working of His power.

¹⁷ And say to Archippus, "Take heed to the ministry that you have received in the Lord, that you fulfill it."

⁷ to which I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and do not lie); a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

¹¹ To which I am appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

² And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

⁵ But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of your ministry.

¹¹ Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with you: For he is profitable to me for the ministry.

⁴ And no man takes this honor to himself, but he that is called by God, as Aaron was.

²³ And he laid his hands on him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.

⁶ Whom they set before the apostles: And when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

¹⁵ Who, when they had come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit: ¹⁶ (For as yet He had fallen upon none of them: They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) ¹⁷ Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

¹⁷ And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, "Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me, that you might receive your sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit."

² As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

²³ And when they had ordained themselves elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, in whom they believed.

⁴⁰ And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God.

¹⁴ Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

²² Do not suddenly lay hands on any man, neither be a partaker of other man's sins: Keep yourself pure.

⁶ Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

⁶ who have borne witness of your love before the church: Whom if you accompany on their journey in a Godly way, you shall do well:

⁸ We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellow-helpers to the truth.

¹⁹ Now those that were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no one but to the Jews only.

²³ Except that the Holy Spirit witnesses in every city, saying that chains and afflictions await me.

⁴ When we launched from there, we sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

¹³ And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: And Moses went up into the mount of God.

³ And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.

²¹ And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave to the people, and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered to him.

¹¹ But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may inquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, "Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

²⁶ But it shall not be so among you: But whoever desires to be great among you, let him be your minister.

²⁰ And immediately he preached Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.

¹² Then, when he had considered the matter, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

¹⁴ But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and sat down.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, "It was necessary that the Word of God should first have been spoken to you: But seeing you put it away from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

¹ And it came to pass in Iconium, that they both went together into the synagogue of the Jews, and in like manner spoke, so that a large multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

³⁷ Moreover Barnabas was determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

¹ Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews: ² And Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, ³ revealing and alleging that it was necessary for Christ to have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that, "This Jesus, whom I preach to you, is Christ."

¹⁷ Therefore he disputed in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout people, and in the market daily with those that met with him.

⁴ And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

⁸ And he went into the synagogue, and spoke boldly for a span of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.

¹⁰ Aristarchus my fellow-prisoner greets you, and Marcus, the sister's son of Barnabas, (about whom you received commands: If he comes to you, receive him);

¹⁸ You shall not allow a witch to live.

⁶ And the soul that turns after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

¹ If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder, ² and the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spoke to you, saying, "Let us go after other gods, which you have not known, and let us serve them; ³ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: For the LORD your God proves you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

¹⁰ There shall not be found among you any one that makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. ¹¹ Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. ¹² For all that do these things are an abomination to the LORD: And because of these abominations the LORD your God does drive them out from before you.

²² And the LORD said to him, "With which? And he said, "I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, "You shall persuade him, and prevail also: Go forth, and do so.

¹³ So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire of it;

¹⁹ And when they shall say to you, "Seek those that have familiar spirits, and to wizards who peep, and who mutter": Should not a people seek their God? For the living instead of the dead? ²⁰ To the law and to the testimony: If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

¹⁴ I have also seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem: They commit adultery and walk in lies: They also strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one returns from his wickedness; they are, all of them, as Sodom to Me, and her inhabitants like Gomorrah. ¹⁵ Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; 'Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: For from the prophets of Jerusalem has profaneness gone forth into all the land.' "

¹⁰ Because, even because they have seduced My people, saying, "Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and lo, others daubed it with untempered mortar: ¹¹ Say to those who daub it with untempered mortar, that it shall fall: There shall be an overflowing shower; and you, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it. ¹² See, when the wall has fallen, shall it not be said to you, 'Where is the daubing with which you have daubed it?' " ¹³ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "I will even rend it with a stormy wind in My fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in My anger, and great hailstones in My fury to consume it. ¹⁴ So I will break down the wall that you have daubed with untempered mortar, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation of it shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and you shall be consumed in its midst: And you shall know that I am the LORD. ¹⁵ Thus I will accomplish My wrath upon the wall, and on those who have daubed it with untempered mortar, and will say to you, 'The wall is no more, neither are they who daubed it'; ¹⁶ to wit, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace", said the Lord GOD.

³ And it shall come to pass, that when anyone shall still prophesy even yet, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say to him, 'You shall not live; for you speak lies in the name of the LORD': And his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesies.

¹⁵ Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

¹⁷ And Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah: For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father which is in heaven.

²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

⁴⁶ And they came to Jericho: Then as He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a large number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the side of the highway begging.

¹⁵ So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." ¹⁶ He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My sheep." ¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.

⁹ But there was a certain man, called Simon, who beforehand used sorcery in the same city, and bewitched the people of Samaria, boasting that he himself was some great one: ¹⁰ To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, "This man is the great power of God." ¹¹ And they had regard for him, because for a long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

¹⁸ And many that believed came, and confessed, and disclosed their deeds. ¹⁹ Also, many of them which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: And they counted up the price of them, and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver.

¹³ For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.

⁸ Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: Men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privately shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many shall follow their pernicious ways; because of by whom the way of truth shall be spoken evil of. ³ And through covetousness they shall make merchandise of you with feigned words: Whose judgment will now not linger for a long time, and their damnation does not slumber.

¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but prove the spirits by testing whether they are of God: Because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

²⁰ And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that worked miracles before him, with which he deceived those that had received the mark of the beast, and those that worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

⁸ The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: But the folly of fools is deceit.

¹⁵ The simple believes every word: But the prudent man looks diligently into his course of life.

¹⁸ The simple inherit folly: But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

¹⁵ The heart of the prudent gets knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

⁹ Who is wise? He shall understand these things. Who is prudent? He shall know them. For the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: But the transgressors shall stumble and fall in them.

⁸ But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn the deputy away from the faith.

¹² Then the deputy, when he saw what had been done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

¹¹ These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether these things were so. ¹² Therefore many of them believed; including honorable women who were Greeks, and not just a few men.

¹² And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made an insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,

³⁸ Therefore, if Demetrius, and the craftsmen who are with him, have a matter against any man, the court of law is open, and there are deputies: Let them bring charges against one another.

²¹ Prove all things; hold tight that which is good.

¹¹ Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: Now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. ¹² For every man cast down his rod, and they became serpents: But Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. ¹³ And He hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he did not hearken to them; as the LORD had said.

²⁴ But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, "Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak to you?

¹ And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, who was of Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of the LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,

¹⁰ Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and broke it. ¹¹ And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, "Thus says the LORD; 'Even so I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years.' " And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.

²⁴ Thus you shall also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying, ²⁵ 'Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, "Because you have sent letters in your name to all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying, ²⁶ 'The LORD has made you priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that you should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in prison, and in the stocks. ²⁷ Now therefore why have you not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, who makes himself a prophet to you? ²⁸ For therefore he sent to us in Babylon, saying, "This captivity is long: Build houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them." ' " ' " ²⁹ And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet. ³⁰ Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, ³¹ "Send to all them of the captivity, saying, 'Thus says the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; "Because that Shemaiah has prophesied to you, and I did not send him, and he caused you to trust in a lie": ³² Therefore thus says the LORD; "Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: He shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for My people", said the LORD; "because he has taught rebellion against the LORD." ' "

⁴¹ He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah", which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

⁷ Then the Word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem; and a large company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

⁹ But there was a certain man, called Simon, who beforehand used sorcery in the same city, and bewitched the people of Samaria, boasting that he himself was some great one:

³⁶ Now at Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is translated Dorcas: This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds, which she did.

⁶ Moreover when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus: ⁷ Who was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the Word of God.

¹⁴ Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: The Lord reward him according to his works: ¹⁵ Of whom you beware also; for he has greatly withstood our words.

⁸ But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.

⁵ And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved because of the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, "Stretch forth your hand." And he stretched it out; and his hand was restored whole like the other.

¹⁷ Moreover He beheld them, and said, "What is this then that is written, 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner'?

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "You rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

³¹ And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness.

⁵⁵ But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."

¹⁹ For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which He has spoken of him."

⁶ And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: Moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.

³ This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event to all: Yes, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

³⁶ And the burden of the LORD you shall mention no more: Forevery man's word shall be his burden; for you have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts, our God.

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

³⁸ the field is the world; the good seeds are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

¹⁹ For out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

¹³ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: For you neither go in yourselves, nor do you permit those who are entering to go in.

²⁵ "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the platter, but inside they are full of extortion and excess. ²⁶ You blind Pharisee, first cleanse that which is inside the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. ²⁷ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are similar to whitened sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. ²⁸ Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. ²⁹ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the sepulchers of the righteous, ³⁰ and say, 'If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.' ³¹ Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are the children of those who killed the prophets. ³² Fill up then the measure of your fathers. ³³ You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell?

³⁹ And the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.

⁵² Woe to you, lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge: You did not enter in yourselves, and you hindered those that were entering in."

²³ He said, "I am 'the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, "Make straight the way of the Lord" ', as the prophet Isaiah said.

⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: For he is a liar, and the father of it.

²⁰ But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. ²¹ You have neither part nor portion in this matter: For your heart is not right in the sight of God. ²² Therefore repent of this, your wickedness, and beseech God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. ²³ For I perceive that you are in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity."

²⁵ This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spoke and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. ²⁶ And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: Whom when Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him to them, and expounded to him the way of God more perfectly.

³⁰ Also men shall arise from among your own selves, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after themselves.

³ But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent deceived Eve through his cunning subtilty, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

⁷ Which is not another; but there are some who trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

¹⁵ Who have forsaken the right way, and have gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

⁸ He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

¹¹ And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: So that they wearied themselves to find the door.

³ behold, the hand of the LORD is upon your domestic beasts which are in the field, upon the horses, upon the donkeys, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: There shall be a very grievous domestic beast plague.

⁶ But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon the people of Ashdod, and He destroyed them, and smote them with hemorrhoids, even Ashdod and its borders. ⁷ And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, "The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: For His hand is heavy upon us and upon Dagon our god."

⁹ And it was so, that after they had carried it around, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: And He smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had hemorrhoids in their secret parts.

¹¹ So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, "Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it does not slay us, and our people": For there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city: The hand of God was very heavy there.

⁸ Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, "In such and such a place shall be my camp.

²¹ Have pity on me, have pity on me, O you my friends; for the hand of God has touched me.

⁴ For day and night your hand was heavy upon me: My moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

² For Your arrows stick fast in me, and Your hand presses me sore.

¹⁰ Remove Your stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of Your hand. ¹¹ When You correct man for iniquity with rebukes, You make his beauty to consume away like a moth: Surely every man is vanity. Selah.

¹⁰ For the LORD has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes: He has covered the prophets, your rulers, and the seers.

³⁹ And Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, that those which do not see might see; and that those which see might be made blind."

⁸ Now Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: But they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus. ⁹ And he was without sight for three days, and neither ate nor drank.

⁷ What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks after; but the chosen have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. ⁸ (Even as it is written, "God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear); to this day." ⁹ And David says, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling-block, and a recompense to them: ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always."

²⁵ For I do not intend, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part has happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.

³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

¹⁷ These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved forever.

²⁸ And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at His doctrine: ²⁹ For He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

⁵⁴ Now when the centurion, and those who were with him, all watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God."

²² Therefore all bore Him witness, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?"

¹⁶ And there came a fear on everyone: And they glorified God, saying that, "A great prophet is risen up among us"; and that, "God has visited His people."

⁴⁶ The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this Man."

¹⁰ And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

⁷ Who was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the Word of God.

⁴⁹ And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

⁷ Now the men were about twelve in all.

⁷ In the same quarters there were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and courteously lodged us three days.

⁴ (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds); ⁵ casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;

¹⁰ Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya around Cyrene, strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

⁵ And when they were at Salamis, they preached the Word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: And they also had John as their minister. ⁶ Moreover when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:

²⁴ And after they had passed through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia. ²⁵ And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:

³⁸ But Paul did not think it would be good to take him with them, who departed from them at Pamphylia, and did not go with them to the work.

⁵ And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

¹³ And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their intention, loosing from that place, they sailed close by Crete.

⁵ And when they were at Salamis, they preached the Word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: And they also had John as their minister.

⁴² And when the Jews had gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles entreated that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath.

⁴⁴ And the next Sabbath day almost the whole city came together to hear the Word of God.

¹⁹ And there came to that place certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, dragged him out of the city, supposing he was dead.

²¹ And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, ²² confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God. ²³ And when they had ordained themselves elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, in whom they believed. ²⁴ And after they had passed through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

¹³ And on the Sabbath we went out of the city by a riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down, and spoke to the women which resorted there.

² And Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

²² And behold, there came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw Him, he fell at His feet,

¹⁶ Then He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. ¹⁷ And the book of the prophet Isaiah was delivered to Him. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written, ¹⁸ "The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are bruised,

¹⁶ The Law and the prophets were until John: Since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presses into it.

¹⁶ "Men and brethren, this scripture needed to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit by the mouth of David spoke beforehand concerning Judas, who was a guide to those that took Jesus.

²⁹ "Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us to this day.

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

² And he said, "Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; the God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

²⁷ For those that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning Him.

⁷ And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said to them, "Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

²¹ For since old times there is in every city those who preach Moses, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath day."

⁸ Then Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing, believed, and were baptized.

¹⁷ Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.Greeks; most probably Jewish Greeks

² Now when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,

¹ "Men, brethren, and fathers, hear my defense which I now make to you."

⁸ or he that exhorts, in exhortation; he that gives, let him do it with simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

³ But he that prophesies speaks edification, exhortation, and comfort to men.

²² And I beseech you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation: For I have written a letter to you in few words.

⁴⁶ And he said to them, "Set your hearts to all the words which I testify among you this day, which you shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law. ⁴⁷ For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: And through this thing you shall prolong your days in the land, where you go over the Jordan to possess it.

⁴⁰ That they may fear you all the days that they live in the land which you gave to our fathers.

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. Hear this, all you people; give ear, you inhabitants of the world: ² Both low and high, rich and poor, together. ³ My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

⁷ God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.

¹ Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words of my mouth. ² I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

⁹ Surely His salvation is near to those that fear Him, that glory may dwell in our land.

²⁰ Bless the LORD, O house of Levi: You that fear the LORD, bless the LORD.

⁸ But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin. ⁹ Hear this, I implore you, all you heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.

¹⁵ He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

⁵⁰ And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.

⁴⁰ But the other answering rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

¹⁴ But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them, "You men of Judea, and all you that dwell at Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and hearken to my words:

²² "You men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a Man approved by God among you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did by Him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know:

¹² Now when Peter saw it, he answered to the people, "You men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why do you look so earnestly upon us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man walk?

² a devout man, and one that feared God with all his household, who gave many charitable alms to the people, and prayed to God always.

³⁵ But in every nation he that fears Him, and works righteousness, is accepted with Him.

¹⁷ But he, beckoning to them with the hand to hold their peace, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, "Go report these things to James, and to the brethren." And he departed, and went into another place.

²⁶ "Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whoever among you that fears God, to you the word of this salvation is sent.

⁴² And when the Jews had gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles entreated that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. ⁴³ Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: Who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

³³ And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with his hand, and would have made his defense to the people.

⁴⁰ Now when he had given him license, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand to the people. And when a great silence was made, he spoke to them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,

²² And they gave him audience until this word, and then they lifted up their voices, and said, "Away with such a fellow from the earth: For it is not proper that he should live."

⁷ "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; to him that overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God." '

¹¹ "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; he that overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death." '

¹⁷ "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; to him that overcomes I will give to eat from the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows except him that receives it." '

²⁹ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' "

¹ Now the LORD had said to Abram, "Get out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you: ² And I will make a great nation of you, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: ³ And I will bless those that bless you, and curse him that curses you: And in you all families of the earth shall be blessed."

⁷ And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you, and to your seed after you. ⁸ And I will give to you, and to your seed after you, the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God."

⁷ And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them. ⁸ Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which did not know Joseph. ⁹ And he said to his people, "Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:

¹ Then the LORD said to Moses, "Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh: For with a strong hand he shall let them go, and with a strong hand he shall drive them out of his land." ² And God spoke to Moses, and said to him, "I am the LORD: ³ And I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by My name JEHOVAH I was not known to them. ⁴ And I have also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, in which they were strangers. ⁵ And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered My covenant. ⁶ Therefore say to the children of Israel, 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments: ⁷ And I will take you to Myself for a people, and I will be to you a God: And you shall know that I am the LORD your God, which brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. ⁸ And I will bring you into the land, concerning that which I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it to you for a heritage: I am the LORD.' " ⁹ And Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel: But they did not hearken to Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage. ¹⁰ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ¹¹ "Go in, speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land." ¹² And Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, "Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened to me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?" ¹³ And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, and gave them a command pertaining to the children of Israel, and to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. ¹⁴ These are the heads of their fathers' houses: The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi: These are the families of Reuben.

¹⁴ And it shall be when your son asks you in time to come, saying, 'What is this?' That you shall say to him, 'By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:

¹⁶ And it shall be for a token sign upon your hand, and for frontlets between your eyes: For by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt."

¹ Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and spoke, saying, "I will sing to the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously: The horse and his rider He has thrown into the sea. ² The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation: He is my God, and I will prepare Him a habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt Him. ³ The LORD is a Man of war: The LORD is His name. ⁴ Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea: His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea. ⁵ The depths have covered them: They sank into the bottom as a stone. ⁶ Your right hand, O LORD, has become glorious in power: Your right hand, O LORD, has dashed the enemy in pieces. ⁷ And in the greatness of Your excellency You have overthrown those that rose up against You: You sent forth Your wrath, which consumed them as stubble. ⁸ And with the blast of Your nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as a heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea. ⁹ The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.' ¹⁰ You blew with Your wind, the sea covered them: They sank as lead in the mighty waters. ¹¹ Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? ¹² You stretched out Your right hand, the earth swallowed them. ¹³ You in Your mercy have led forth the people which You have redeemed: You have guided them in Your strength to Your holy habitation. ¹⁴ The people shall hear, and be afraid: Sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina. ¹⁵ Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. ¹⁶ Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of Your arm they shall be as still as a stone; until Your people pass over, O LORD, until the people which You have purchased pass over. ¹⁷ You shall bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which You have made for Yourself to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O LORD, which Your hands have established. ¹⁸ The LORD shall reign forever and ever. ¹⁹ For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea. ²⁰ And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances. ²¹ And Miriam answered them, "Sing to the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously; He has thrown the horse and his rider into the sea."

¹¹ Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: For in the thing about which they dealt proudly He was above them."

²⁰ But the LORD has taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be to him a people of inheritance, as you are this day.

³⁴ Or has God assayed to go and take him a nation from the middle of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

³⁷ And because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought you out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;

⁶ For you are a holy people to the LORD your God: The LORD your God has chosen you to be a special people to himself, above all people that are on the face of the earth. ⁷ The LORD did not set his love on you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all people: ⁸ But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn to your fathers, has the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of servants, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

¹⁹ the great temptations which your eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, whereby the LORD your God brought you out: So shall the LORD your God do to all the people of whom you are afraid.

⁵ Not for your righteousness, or for the uprightness of your heart, do you go to possess their land: But for the wickedness of these nations the LORD your God does drive them out from before you, and that he may perform the word which the LORD swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

²² Your fathers went down into Egypt with three score and ten persons; and now the LORD your God has made you as the stars of heaven for multitude.

² For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a peculiar people to himself, above all the nations that are on the earth.

⁸ Woe to us! Who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty Gods? These are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness.

⁷ You are the LORD the God, who did choose Abram, and brought him forth out of Ur of the Chaldeans, and gave him the name of Abraham; ⁸ and found his heart faithful before you, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, "to his seed, and have performed your words; for you are righteous: ⁹ And did see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry by the Red sea; ¹⁰ and showed signs and wonders on Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: For you knew that they dealt proudly against them. So did you get you a name, as it is this day. ¹¹ And you did divide the sea before them, so that they went through the middle of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors you threw into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters. ¹² Moreover you led them in the day by a cloudy pillar; and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way in which they should go.

¹³ Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary: Who is so great a God as our God? ¹⁴ You are the God that does wonders: You have declared Your strength among the people. ¹⁵ You have redeemed Your people with Your arm, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. ¹⁶ The waters saw You, O God, the waters saw You; they were afraid: The depths also were troubled. ¹⁷ The clouds poured out water: The skies sent out a sound: Your arrows also went abroad. ¹⁸ The voice of Your thunder was in the heaven: The lightning lightened the world: The earth trembled and shook. ¹⁹ Your way is in the sea, and Your path in the great waters, and Your footsteps are not known. ²⁰ You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

¹² He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. ¹³ He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and He made the waters to stand as a heap.

⁴² They did not remember His hand, nor the day when He delivered them from the enemy. ⁴³ How he had worked His signs in Egypt, and His wonders in the field of Zoan: ⁴⁴ And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink. ⁴⁵ He sent diverse sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them. ⁴⁶ He also gave their increase to the caterpillar, and their labor to the locust. ⁴⁷ He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost. ⁴⁸ He also gave up their domestic beasts to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts. ⁴⁹ He cast upon them the fierceness of His anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them. ⁵⁰ He made a way for His anger; He did not spare their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence; ⁵¹ and smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham: ⁵² But made His own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock. ⁵³ And He led them on safely, so that they did not fear: But the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

⁶ O you seed of Abraham His servant, you children of Jacob His chosen. ⁷ He is the LORD our God: His judgments are in all the earth. ⁸ He has remembered His covenant forever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations. ⁹ The covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac; ¹⁰ and confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant: ¹¹ Saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:" ¹² When they were merely a few men in number; yes, very few, and strangers in it.

²³ Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. ²⁴ And He increased His people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.

²⁶ He sent Moses His servant; and Aaron whom He had chosen. ²⁷ They showed His signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham. ²⁸ He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they did not rebel against His word. ²⁹ He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish. ³⁰ Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings. ³¹ He spoke, and there came diverse sorts of flies, and lice in all their borders. ³² He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land. ³³ He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and broke the trees of their borders. ³⁴ He spoke, and the locusts came, and caterpillars, and that without number, ³⁵ and they ate up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground. ³⁶ He also smote all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength. ³⁷ He also brought them forth with silver and gold: And there was not one feeble person among their tribes. ³⁸ Egypt was glad when they departed: For the fear of them had fallen upon them. ³⁹ He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.

⁴² For He remembered His holy promise, and Abraham His servant. ⁴³ And He brought forth His people with joy, and His chosen with gladness:

⁷ Our fathers did not understand Your wonders in Egypt; they did not remember the multitude of Your mercies; but provoked Him at the sea, even at the Red Sea. ⁸ Nevertheless He saved them for His name's sake, that He might make His mighty power to be known. ⁹ He also rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up: So He led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. ¹⁰ And He saved them from the hand of him who hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. ¹¹ And the waters covered their enemies: There was not one of them left.

¹ When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language; ² judah was His sanctuary, and Israel His dominion. ³ The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back. ⁴ The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs. ⁵ What ailed you, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, that you were driven back? ⁶ You mountains, that you skipped like rams; and you little hills, like lambs? ⁷ Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob; ⁸ which turned the rock into a standing pool of water, the flint into a fountain of waters.

⁴ For the LORD has chosen Jacob to Himself, and Israel for His peculiar treasure.

⁸ Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast. ⁹ Who sent signs and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants. ¹⁰ Who smote great nations, and slew mighty kings;

¹⁰ To Him that smote Egypt in their firstborn: For His mercy endures forever: ¹¹ And brought Israel out from among them: For His mercy endures forever: ¹² With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm: For His mercy endures forever. ¹³ To Him Which divided the Red Sea into parts: For His mercy endures forever: ¹⁴ And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: For His mercy endures forever: ¹⁵ But overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea: For His mercy endures forever.

⁸ "But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham My friend. ⁹ You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called you from its chief men, and said to you, 'You are My servant; I have chosen you, and not cast you away.

¹ Yet now hear, O Jacob My servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:

⁹ In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them: In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them, and carried them all the days of old. ¹⁰ But they rebelled, and vexed His holy Spirit: Therefore He was turned to be their enemy, and He fought against them. ¹¹ Then He remembered the days of old, Moses, and His people, saying, "Where is He that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of His flock? Where is He that put His holy Spirit within him? ¹² That led them by the right hand of Moses with His glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make Himself an everlasting name? ¹³ That led them through the deep, as a horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?" ¹⁴ As a beast goes down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: So You lead Your people, to make Yourself a glorious name.

²⁰ Who has set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even to this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and have made Yourself a name, as it is this day; ²¹ and have brought forth Your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with an out stretched arm, and with great terror;

²⁴ 'Consider not what this people has spoken, saying, "The two families which the LORD has chosen, has he cast even them off?" Thus they have despised My people, that they should no more be a nation before them.' ²⁵ Thus says the LORD; 'If My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth; ²⁶ then I will cast away the seed of Jacob and David My servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: For I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.' "

¹⁰ Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

⁴ For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of servants; and I sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam before you.

¹⁵ "According to the days of your coming out of the land of Egypt, I will show him marvelous things." ¹⁶ The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: They shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.

² And he said, "Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; the God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran, ³ and said to him, 'Get out of your country, and from your kindred, and come into the land which I shall show you.' ⁴ Then he came out of the land of the Chaldeans, and dwelt in Charran: And from there, when his father was dead, He moved him into this land, in which you now dwell. ⁵ And He gave him no inheritance in it, no, not so much as to even set his foot upon: Yet He promised that He would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child. ⁶ And God spoke in this manner, that his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and treat them evilly four hundred years. ⁷ 'And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage I will judge', said God, 'and after that they shall come out, and serve Me in this place.' ⁸ Then He gave him the covenant of circumcision: And so Abraham begot Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac begot Jacob; and Jacob begot the twelve patriarchs. ⁹ "And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: But God was with him, ¹⁰ and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house. ¹¹ Now there came a famine over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction: And our fathers found no sustenance. ¹² But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first. ¹³ And at the second visit Joseph was made known to his brothers; and Joseph's kindred were made known to Pharaoh. ¹⁴ Then Joseph sent for, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, seventy five souls. ¹⁵ So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers, ¹⁶ and they were carried over into Shechem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money from the sons of Emmor, the father of Shechem. ¹⁷ "But when the time of the promise drew near, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt, ¹⁸ until another king arose, who did not know Joseph. ¹⁹ This one dealt cunningly with our kindred, and evilly treated our fathers, so that they threw out their young children, with the intent they might not live. ²⁰ About which time Moses was born, and was exceedingly fair, and nourished in his father's house three months: ²¹ And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him as her own son. ²² And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds. ²³ "And when he was a full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel. ²⁴ And seeing one of them suffer wrongfully, he defended him, and avenged him who was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian: ²⁵ For he supposed that his brethren would have understood that by his hand God would deliver them: But they did not understand. ²⁶ And the next day he showed himself to them as they fought, and would have reconciled them as one again, saying, 'Sirs, you are brethren; why do you wrong one another?' ²⁷ But he who did his neighbor wrong thust him away, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge over us? ²⁸ Will you kill me as you did the Egyptian yesterday?' ²⁹ Then Moses fled at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Midian, where he begot two sons. ³⁰ "And when forty years were expired, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush. ³¹ When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: And as he drew near to observe it, the voice of the Lord came to him, ³² saying, 'I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' Then Moses trembled, and dared not behold. ³³ 'Then the LORD said to him, "Take off your shoes from your feet: For the place where you stand is holy ground. ³⁴ I have seen, I have seen the affliction of My people which are in Egypt, I have heard their groaning, and have come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send you into Egypt." ' ³⁵ "This Moses whom they refused, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge?' is the same that God sent to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush. ³⁶ He brought them out, after he had shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years. ³⁷ "This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, 'The LORD your God shall raise up to you a Prophet from your brethren, similar to me: Him you shall hear.' ³⁸ "This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spoke to him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers: Who received the lively oracles to give to us: ³⁹ Whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust Him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt, ⁴⁰ saying to Aaron, 'Make us gods to go before us: Because, as for this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.' ⁴¹ And they made a calf in those days, offered sacrifices to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. ⁴² Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, 'O house of Israel, have you offered to Me slain beasts and sacrifices for a period of forty years in the wilderness? ⁴³ Yes, you took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which you made to worship them: And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.' ⁴⁴ "Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He had appointed, speaking to Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen. ⁴⁵ Which also our fathers that came afterwards, brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers, even until the days of David; ⁴⁶ who found favor before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob. ⁴⁷ But Solomon built Him a house. ⁴⁸ "Nevertheless, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands; as the prophet says, ⁴⁹ 'Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool: What house will you build Me? says the LORD: Or what is the place of My rest? ⁵⁰ Has My hand not made all these things?' ⁵¹ "You stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit: As your fathers did, so you do. ⁵² Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain those which foretold of the coming of the Just One; of whom you now have been the betrayers and murderers: ⁵³ Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it."

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light:

² And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:

³⁵ And the children of Israel ate manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate manna, until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.

²² Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not listened to my voice;

³³ And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcasses be wasted in the wilderness. ³⁴ After the number of the days in which you searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall you bear your iniquities, even forty years, and you shall know my breach of promise.

³¹ and in the wilderness, where you have seen how that the LORD your God bore you, as a man does bear his son, in all the way that you went, until you came into this place.

⁷ Remember, and forget not, how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness: From the day that you did depart out of the land of Egypt, until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD.

²¹ And I took your sin, the calf which you had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: And I cast its dust into the brook that descended out of the mount. ²² And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, you provoked the LORD to wrath. ²³ Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, "Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then you rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and you believed him not, nor listened to his voice. ²⁴ You have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.

¹⁶ But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and did not hearken to your commandments, ¹⁷ and refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not. ¹⁸ Yes, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, "This is your God that brought you up out of Egypt, and had worked great provocations; ¹⁹ yet you in your manifold mercies forsook them not in the wilderness: The pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way in which they should go. ²⁰ You gave also your good spirit to instruct them, and withheld not your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst. ²¹ Yes, forty years did you sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.

¹⁷ And they sinned even more against Him by provoking the most High in the wilderness. ¹⁸ And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. ¹⁹ Yes, they spoke against God; they said, "Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? ²⁰ Behold, He smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can He give bread also? Can He provide flesh for His people"? ²¹ Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: So a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel; ²² because they did not believe in God, and did not trust in His salvation: ²³ Though He had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, ²⁴ and had rained down manna on them to eat, and had given them of the grain kernels of heaven. ²⁵ Man ate angels' food: He sent them meat to the full. ²⁶ He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: And by His power He brought in the south wind. ²⁷ He also rained flesh upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like the sand of the sea: ²⁸ And He let it fall in the midst of their camp, all around their tents. ²⁹ So they ate, and were well filled: For He gave them their own desire; ³⁰ they were not estranged from their lust. But while their food was yet in their mouths, ³¹ the wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel. ³² For all this they still sinned, and did not believe in His wondrous works. ³³ Therefore He consumed their days in vanity, and their years in trouble. ³⁴ When He slew them, then they sought Him: And they returned and inquired early after God. ³⁵ And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. ³⁶ Nevertheless they flattered Him with their mouth, and they lied to Him with their tongues. ³⁷ For their heart was not right with Him, neither were they steadfast in His covenant. ³⁸ But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and did not destroy them: Yes, many a time He turned His anger away, and did not stir up all His wrath. ³⁹ For He remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passes away, and does not come again. ⁴⁰ How often they provoked Him in the wilderness, and grieve Him in the desert! ⁴¹ Yes, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. ⁴² They did not remember His hand, nor the day when He delivered them from the enemy.

⁸ "Do not harden your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: ⁹ When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My work. ¹⁰ For forty long years I was grieved with this generation, and said, 'It is a people that err in their heart, and they have not known My ways': ¹¹ To whom I swore in My wrath that they should not enter into My rest."

¹³ They soon forgot His works; they did not wait for His counsel: ¹⁴ But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. ¹⁵ And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul. ¹⁶ They also envied Moses in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD. ¹⁷ The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. ¹⁸ And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. ¹⁹ They made a calf in Horeb, and worshiped the molten image. ²⁰ Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eats grass. ²¹ They forgot God their Savior, which had done great things in Egypt; ²² wondrous works in the land of Ham, and frightful things by the Red Sea. ²³ Therefore He said that He would destroy them, had not Moses His chosen stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath, lest He should destroy them. ²⁴ Yes, they despised the pleasant land, they did not believe His word: ²⁵ But murmured in their tents, and did not hearken to the voice of the LORD. ²⁶ Therefore He lifted up His hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness: ²⁷ To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands. ²⁸ They also joined themselves to Baal-Peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead, ²⁹ thus they provoked Him to anger with their inventions: And the plague broke out upon them.

¹⁰ Therefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness. ¹¹ And I gave them My statutes, and showed them My judgments, which if a man do, he shall live in and by them. ¹² Moreover I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them. ¹³ But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness: They did not walk in My statutes, and they despised My judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and they greatly polluted My Sabbaths: Then I said, 'I will pour out My fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.' ¹⁴ But I worked for My name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out. ¹⁵ Yet I also lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands; ¹⁶ because they despised My judgments, and did not walk in My statutes, but polluted My Sabbaths: For their heart went after their idols. ¹⁷ Nevertheless My eye spared from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.

²⁵ Have you offered to Me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel? ²⁶ But you have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun, your images, the star of your god, which you made for yourselves.

³⁶ He brought them out, after he had shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

³⁹ Whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust Him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt, ⁴⁰ saying to Aaron, 'Make us gods to go before us: Because, as for this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.' ⁴¹ And they made a calf in those days, offered sacrifices to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. ⁴² Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, 'O house of Israel, have you offered to Me slain beasts and sacrifices for a period of forty years in the wilderness? ⁴³ Yes, you took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which you made to worship them: And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.'

¹ Moreover, brethren, I would not have that you should be ignorant, how all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea; ² and all were baptized to Moses in the cloud and in the sea; ³ and all ate the same spiritual food; ⁴ and all drank the same spiritual drink: For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: And that Rock was Christ. ⁵ But with many of them God was not well pleased: For they were overthrown in the wilderness. ⁶ Now these things were our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. ⁷ Neither be idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play." ⁸ Nor let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell. ⁹ Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents. ¹⁰ Nor murmur, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

⁷ Therefore (as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you will hear His voice, ⁸ do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: ⁹ When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years. ¹⁰ Therefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, 'They always err in their heart; and they have not known My ways.'

¹⁶ For some, when they had heard, did provoke: Nevertheless, not all who came out of Egypt by Moses provoked. ¹⁷ But with whom was He grieved forty years? Was it not with those that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? ¹⁸ And to whom did He swear that they should not enter into His rest, but to those that did not believe? ¹⁹ So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

⁵ And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and they did come into the land of Canaan.

⁸ And I will give to you, and to your seed after you, the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God."

⁵³ to these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names. ⁵⁴ To many you shall give the more inheritance, and to few you shall give the less inheritance: To every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him. ⁵⁵ Notwithstanding, the land shall be divided by lot: According to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit. ⁵⁶ According to the lot shall its possession be divided between many and few.

¹ When the LORD your God shall bring you into the land where you go to possess it, and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you;

¹ And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them.

¹⁰ And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD: And there Joshua divided the land to the children of Israel according to their divisions.

⁵¹ These are the inheritances, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they made an end of dividing the country.

⁴ Behold, I have divided to you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even to the great sea westward.

¹¹ And you went over the Jordan, and came to Jericho: And the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.

²⁴ So the children went in and possessed the land, and you subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gave them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they would.

⁵⁵ He also cast out the heathen before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

¹¹ Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:

⁴⁵ Which also our fathers that came afterwards, brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers, even until the days of David;

¹⁶ Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.

¹⁰ And the Spirit of the LORD came on him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: And the LORD delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.

¹ Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem in Judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he and his wife, and his two sons.

²⁰ And all Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.

¹¹ And the LORD sent Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side, and you dwelled safely.

¹¹ and as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the LORD tells you that he will make you a house.

²² Surely there was not held such a Passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;

⁶ Wherever I have walked with all Israel, spoke I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, "Why have you not built me a house of cedars?

²⁴ Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that followed after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

⁵ And said to him, "Behold, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways: Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations."

¹ Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, "Is it not because the LORD has anointed you to be captain over His inheritance?

²¹ When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken, and Saul the son of Kish was taken: And when they sought him, he could not be found. ²² Therefore they inquired of the LORD further, if the man should still yet come to that place. And the LORD answered, "Behold, he has hid himself among the stuff." ²³ And they ran and fetched him from there: And when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward. ²⁴ And Samuel said to all the people, "Do you see him whom the LORD has chosen, that there is none like him among all the people?" And all the people shouted, and said, "God save the king." ²⁵ Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house. ²⁶ And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.

¹⁵ And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.

¹² And when you saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, you said to me, 'No; but a king shall reign over us': When the LORD your God was your king. ¹³ Now therefore behold the king whom you have chosen, and whom you have desired! And behold, the LORD has set a king over you. ¹⁴ If you will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then both you and also the king that reigns over you shall continue following the LORD your God: ¹⁵ But if you will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then the hand of the LORD shall be against you, as it was against your fathers. ¹⁶ Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes. ¹⁷ Is it not wheat harvest today? I will call to the LORD, and He shall send thunder and rain; that you may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking for yourselves a king." ¹⁸ So Samuel called to the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: And all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel. ¹⁹ And all the people said to Samuel, "Pray for your servants to the LORD your God, that we do not die: For we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for us a king."

¹ Samuel also said to Saul, "The LORD sent me to anoint you to be king over His people, over Israel: Now therefore hearken to the voice of the words of the LORD.

²⁵ But if you shall still do wickedly, you shall be consumed, both you and your king."

¹³ And Samuel said to Saul, "You have done foolishly: You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which He commanded you: For the LORD would have now established your kingdom upon Israel forever. ¹⁴ But now your kingdom shall not continue: The LORD has sought Himself a man after His own heart, and the LORD has commanded him to be captain over His people, because you have not kept that which the LORD commanded you."

¹¹ "It repents Me that I have set up Saul to be king: For he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments." And it grieved Samuel; and he cried out to the LORD all night.

²³ For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has also rejected you from being king."

²⁶ And Samuel said to Saul, "I will not return with you: For you have rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you from being king over Israel."

²⁸ And Samuel said to him, "The LORD has tore the kingdom of Israel from you this day, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, that is better than you.

¹ And the LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go, I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite: For I have provided Me a king among his sons."

¹³ Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brothers: And the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

¹⁶ Then said Samuel, "Why then do you ask of me, seeing the LORD has departed from you, and has become your enemy?

⁶ So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armor-bearer, and all his men, that same day together.

⁴ And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, "That the men of Jabeshgilead were those that buried Saul.

³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: And they anointed David king over Israel. ⁴ David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. ⁵ In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: And in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.

⁸ Now therefore so shall you say to my servant David, Thus says the LORD of hosts, I took you from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:

¹⁵ But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before you.

³ And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: And his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.

⁵ Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

⁴ However, the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever: For he has chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel: ⁵ And of all my sons, (for the LORD has given me many sons), he has chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.

⁶ "Yet I have set My king upon My holy hill of Zion."

⁷⁰ He also chose David His servant, and took him from the sheepfolds: ⁷¹ From following the ewes that were pregnant with young, He brought him to feed Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance. ⁷² So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

¹⁹ Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, and said, "I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. ²⁰ I have found David My servant; with My holy oil I have anointed him: ²¹ With whom My hand shall be established: My arm also shall strengthen him. ²² The enemy shall not practice extortion upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. ²³ And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague those that hate him. ²⁴ But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him; and in My name his horn shall be exalted. ²⁵ I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers. ²⁶ He shall cry to Me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.' ²⁷ Also I will make him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. ²⁸ I will keep My mercy for him forevermore, and My covenant shall stand fast with him. ²⁹ I will also make his seed to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven. ³⁰ If his children forsake My law, and do not walk in My judgments; ³¹ if they break My statutes, and do not keep My commandments; ³² then I will visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. ³³ Nevertheless I will not utterly take My lovingkindness from him, nor will I allow My faithfulness to fail. ³⁴ I will not break My covenant, nor alter the thing that has gone out of My lips. ³⁵ Once I have sworn by My holiness, I will not lie to David. ³⁶ His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before Me. ³⁷ It shall be established forever like the moon, and like a faithful witness in heaven." Selah.

²¹ then also may My covenant be broken with David My servant, that he should not have a son to reign on his throne; and with the Levites the priests, My ministers.

²⁶ then I will cast away the seed of Jacob and David My servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: For I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.' "

²³ And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even My servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

²⁴ And David My servant shall be king over them; and they shall all have one shepherd: They shall also walk in My judgments, and observe My statutes, and do them. ²⁵ And they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, in which your fathers have dwelled; and they shall dwell in it, even they and their children, and their children's children forever: And My servant David shall be their prince forever.

⁵ Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and His goodness in the latter days.

¹⁰ I will be your king: Where in all your cities is any other that may save you? And your judges of whom you said, 'Give me a king and princes'? ¹¹ I gave you a king in My anger, and took him away in My wrath.

⁴⁶ who found favor before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

⁸ Also God, which knows the hearts, bore witness to them, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as He did to us;

⁴ By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: And by it he being dead still speaks. ⁵ By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; "and was not found, because God had translated him": For before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

¹² And when your days be fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, which shall proceed out of your bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

¹¹ The LORD has sworn in truth to David; He will not turn from it; "From the fruit of your body I will set kings upon the throne.

¹³ And he said, "Hear now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also?

¹ And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

¹⁰ And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; the Gentiles shall seek it: And His dwelling shall be glorious.

¹¹ I, even I, am the LORD; and besides Me there is no savior.

²¹ All of you tell, and bring them near; yes, let them take counsel together: Who has declared this from ancient times? Who has told it from that time? Have I not, the LORD? And there is no God besides Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none besides me.

⁵ "Behold, the days come", said the LORD, "that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. ⁶ In His days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: And this is His name by which he shall be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

¹⁵ In those days, and at that time, I will cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up to David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. ¹⁶ In those days Judah shall be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: And this is the name with which she shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.' ¹⁷ For thus says the LORD; 'David shall never want a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;

¹¹ In that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David that has fallen, and close up its breaches; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: Behold, your King comes to you: He is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon a donkey, and upon a colt, the foal of a donkey.

¹ The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham.

²¹ And she shall bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS: For He shall save His people from their sins."

⁹ And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried out, saying: "Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest."

⁴² saying, "What do you think of Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "The Son of David."

³¹ And behold, you shall conceive in your womb, and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. ³² He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: And the Lord God shall give to Him the throne of His father David: ³³ And He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end."

⁶⁹ and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, "Do not fear: For behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. ¹¹ For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

⁴² Then they said to the woman, "Now we believe, not because of your speech: For we have heard Him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world."

⁴² Has not the scripture said that Christ comes from the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?"

³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, after the flesh, He would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

³² This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. ³³ Therefore being exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has shed forth this, which you now see and hear. ³⁴ "For David is not ascended into the heavens: But he himself said, 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, ³⁵ until I make Your enemies Your footstool." ' ³⁶ "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ."

²⁶ First to you, God has raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning every one of you away from his iniquities."

¹² Neither is there salvation in any other: For there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved."

³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew and hung on a tree: ³¹ God has exalted Him with His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

³² And we declare to you glad tidings, how the promise which was made to the fathers,

³ concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

²⁶ And so all Israel shall be saved: As it is written, "There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

⁴ To Titus, my own son according to the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

¹⁰ not stealing, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things. ¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, ¹² teaching us that through denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; ¹³ looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; ¹⁴ who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

³ For we ourselves were also sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving diverse lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; ⁶ which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior;

¹ Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ:

¹¹ For after that an entrance shall abundantly be ministered to you into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them, and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.

² That you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment from us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior:

¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen.

¹⁴ And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

²⁵ To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.

¹⁶ "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the Bright and Morning Star."

¹ In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, ² and saying, "Repent: For the kingdom of heaven is at hand." ³ For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the LORD, make His paths straight.' " ⁴ And the same John had his clothing from camel's hair, with a leather girdle around his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey. ⁵ Then Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him, ⁶ and were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. ⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Therefore bring forth fruits suitable for repentance: ⁹ And do not think to say within yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father': For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. ¹⁰ And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees: Therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewed down, and cast into the fire. ¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water as to repentance: But He that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry: He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire:

² as it is written in the prophets: "Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, which shall prepare Your way before You. ³ The voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the LORD, make His paths straight.' " ⁴ John baptized in the wilderness, and preached the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. ⁵ And all the land of Judea went out to him, and those of Jerusalem, and were all baptized by him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. ⁶ Now John was clothed with camel's hair, and a girdle of a skin around his loins; and he ate locusts and wild honey; ⁷ and he preached, saying, "There comes one mightier than I after me, the strap of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. ⁸ I indeed have baptized you with water, but He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

⁷⁶ And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Highest: For you shall go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways;

² Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the Word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness. ³ And he came into all the country around Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; ⁴ as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: The voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make His paths straight. ⁵ Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked place will be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; ⁶ and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.' " ⁷ Then he said to the multitude that came forth to be baptized by him, "O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Therefore bring forth fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say within yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father': For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. ⁹ And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees: Every tree therefore which does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire." ¹⁰ Therefore the people asked him, saying, "What shall we do then?" ¹¹ He answered and said to them, "He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise." ¹² Then publicans also came to be baptized, and said to him, "Master, what shall we do?" ¹³ And he said to them, "Require no more than that which is appointed to you." ¹⁴ Likewise the soldiers demanded of him, saying, "And what shall we do?" And he said to them, "Do violence to no man, nor accuse anyone falsely; and be content with your wages." ¹⁵ And as the people were in expectation, and all men thought deeply about John in their hearts, whether he was the Christ, or not; ¹⁶ John answered, saying to them all, "I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I comes, the strap of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire: ¹⁷ Whose fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor, and will gather the wheat into His granary; but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire." ¹⁸ And in His exhortation he preached many other things to the people.

⁶ There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. ⁷ The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. ⁸ He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

¹⁵ John bore witness of Him, and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I spoke, 'He that comes after me is preferred before me: For He was before me.' " ¹⁶ And of His fullness we all have received, and grace for grace. ¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

²⁵ Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying. ²⁶ And they came to John, and said to him, "Rabbi, He that was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you bear witness, behold, the same baptizes, and all men come to Him." ²⁷ John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing, unless it is given to him from heaven. ²⁸ You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, 'I am not the Christ', but that, 'I am sent before Him.' ²⁹ He that has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: This joy of mine is therefore fulfilled. ³⁰ He must increase, but I must decrease. ³¹ He that comes from above is above all: He that is of the earth is earthly, and speaks of the earth: He that comes from heaven is above all. ³² And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no man receives His testimony. ³³ He that has received His testimony has set to his seal that God is true. ³⁴ For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God: For God does not give the Spirit by limited measure to Him. ³⁵ The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. ³⁶ He that believes in the Son has everlasting life: And he that does not believe the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him."

³³ You sent to John, and he bore witness to the truth. ³⁴ But I do not receive testimony from man: But these things I say, that you might be saved. ³⁵ He was a burning and a shining light: And you were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. ³⁶ But I have a greater witness than that of John: For the works which the Father has given Me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.

²² beginning from the baptism of John, to that same day that He was taken up from us, one must be ordained to be a witness with us of His resurrection."

³⁷ That word, I say, you know, which was published throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

³ And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism." ⁴ Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe upon Him which should come after him, that is, upon Christ Jesus."

¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water as to repentance: But He that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry: He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire:

⁷ and he preached, saying, "There comes one mightier than I after me, the strap of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.

¹⁶ But when Herod heard of it, he said, "This is John, whom I beheaded; he has risen from the dead." ¹⁷ For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her. ¹⁸ For John had said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife." ¹⁹ Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not: ²⁰ For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. ²¹ Then when a convenient day came, Herod made a supper on his birthday to his lords, high captains, and chief estate owners of Galilee; ²² And when Herodias' daughter came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and those who sat with him, the king said to the damsel, "Ask of me whatever you desire, and I will give it to you." ²³ He even swore to her, "Whatever you shall ask of me, I will give it to you, up to half of my kingdom." ²⁴ Now she went forth, and said to her mother, "What shall I ask?" And she said, "The head of John the Baptist." ²⁵ And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked it, saying, "I desire that without delay you give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter." ²⁶ And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for the sakes of those who sat with him, he would not reject her request. ²⁷ Therefore the king immediately sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought; and he went and beheaded him in the prison, ²⁸ brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the damsel: And the damsel gave it to her mother.

¹⁵ And as the people were in expectation, and all men thought deeply about John in their hearts, whether he was the Christ, or not; ¹⁶ John answered, saying to them all, "I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I comes, the strap of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire:

²⁰ And he confessed, and did not deny; but confessed, "I am not the Christ." ²¹ Therefore they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." "Are you that prophet?" And he answered, "No." ²² Then they said to him, "Who are you? That we may give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?" ²³ He said, "I am 'the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, "Make straight the way of the Lord" ', as the prophet Isaiah said.

²⁶ John answered them, saying, "I baptize with water: But there stands One among you, whom you do not know; ²⁷ it is He, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe string I am not worthy to unloose."

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world.

³⁴ And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God."

³⁶ and looking upon Jesus as He walked, he said, "Behold the Lamb of God!"

²⁷ John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing, unless it is given to him from heaven. ²⁸ You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, 'I am not the Christ', but that, 'I am sent before Him.' ²⁹ He that has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: This joy of mine is therefore fulfilled.

³⁴ Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work.

¹⁸ He who speaks of himself seeks his own glory: But He who seeks the glory of Him that sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst." ²⁹ Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there: And they filled a sponge with vinegar, put it upon hyssop, and put it to His mouth. ³⁰ When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, "It is finished": Then He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost.

³⁶ "For David, after he had served the will of God in his own generation, fell asleep dead, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption:

⁴ Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe upon Him which should come after him, that is, upon Christ Jesus."

²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear to myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

⁵ For we do not preach about ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus' sake.

⁷ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

⁷ And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

⁷ Are not you our God, who did drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and gave it to the seed of Abraham your friend forever?

⁶ O you seed of Abraham His servant, you children of Jacob His chosen.

¹⁹ He shows His word to Jacob, His statutes and His judgments to Israel. ²⁰ He has not dealt so with any other nation: And as for his judgments, they have not known them. All you praise the LORD.

⁸ "But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham My friend.

¹³ I bring near My righteousness; it shall not be far off, and My salvation shall not tarry: And I will place salvation in Zion for Israel My glory."

¹ "Hear this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

¹ Listen to me, you who follow after righteousness, you that seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you were dug. ² Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you: For I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.

⁹ And do not think to say within yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father': For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

⁶ But rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

⁷⁷ to give knowledge of salvation to His people by the remission of their sins,

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

²⁰ "Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this Life."

¹⁵ And after the reading of the Law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, "You men and brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, speak now." ¹⁶ Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, "Men of Israel, and you that fear God, give audience. ¹⁷ The God of the people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with a powerful arm He brought them out of it.

⁴³ Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: Who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

¹⁷ The same followed Paul and us, and cried out saying, "These men are the servants of the Most High God, which show to us the way of salvation."

²⁸ "Therefore let it be known to you, that the salvation of God is sent to the Gentiles, and that they will hear it."

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: For it is the power of God to salvation to everyone that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

¹⁹ Know that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them; and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. ²⁰ Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God implored you through us: We make request of you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. ²¹ For He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

¹³ In Whom you also trusted, after that you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: In Whom also after that you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,

⁵ for the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

²⁰ But as for you, you thought evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save many people alive.

²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

⁵⁴ But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen in this manner?" ⁵⁵ In that same hour Jesus said to the multitudes, "Have you come out as against a thief with swords and wooden staffs to take Me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and you did not lay hold of Me. ⁵⁶ But all this was done that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples forsook Him, and fled.

³⁴ And He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day, before you shall deny three times that you know Me."

²⁰ And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and have crucified Him.

²⁴ And certain ones of them who were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even as the women had said: But they did not see Him." ²⁵ Then He said to them, "O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: ²⁶ Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His glory?" ²⁷ And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded to them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself.

⁴⁴ And He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning Me." ⁴⁵ Then He opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

²⁸ Then Jesus said to them, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you shall know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father has taught Me, I speak these things.

²¹ But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him that sent Me.

³ And these things they will do to you, because they have not known the Father, nor Me.

³⁶ For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, "A bone of Him shall not be broken." ³⁷ And again another scripture says, "They shall look on Him whom they pierced."

¹⁷ "And now, brethren, I know that through ignorance you did it, as also did your rulers.

¹⁴ But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and sat down. ¹⁵ And after the reading of the Law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, "You men and brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, speak now."

²² Having therefore obtained help from God, I continue to this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come: ²³ That Christ would suffer, and that He should be the first that would rise from the dead, and would show light to the people, and to the Gentiles."

²³ And when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the Law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning until evening.

⁸ Which none of the princes of this world knew: For had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

¹⁴ But their minds were blinded: For till this day remains the same veil not taken away in the reading of the Old Testament; which veil is done away in Christ.

⁴ In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of those who do not believe, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

¹³ who was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an injurious man: But I obtained mercy, because I did those things ignorantly in unbelief.

¹⁹ While he was sitting down on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, "Have nothing to do with that just Man: For I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of Him."

²² Pilate said to them, "What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?" They all said to him, "Let Him be crucified." ²³ And the governor said, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they cried out all the more, saying, "Let Him be crucified." ²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could prevail in nothing, but rather that a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this just Person: You see to it." ²⁵ Then all the people answered, and said, "His blood be on us, and on our children."

¹³ Moreover they cried out again, "Crucify Him." ¹⁴ Then Pilate said to them, "Why, what evil has He done?" And they exceedingly cried out all the more, "Crucify Him." ¹⁵ And so Pilate, willing to please the people, released Barabbas to them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged Him, to be crucified.

⁴ Then Pilate said to the chief priests and to the people, "I find no fault in this Man." ⁵ But they were all the more fierce, saying, "He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place."

¹⁴ said to them, "You have brought this Man to me, as one that perverts the people: And behold, having examined Him in your presence, I have found no fault in this Man concerning those things of which you accuse Him: ¹⁵ No, nor did Herod: For I sent you to him; and see, nothing worthy of death was done by Him. ¹⁶ I will therefore chastise Him, and release Him."

²¹ But they cried out, saying, "Crucify Him, crucify Him." ²² Now he said to them the third time, "Why, what evil has He done? I have found no cause for death in Him: I will therefore chastise Him, and let Him go." ²³ But they were urgent with loud voices, requiring that He might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed. ²⁴ And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required. ²⁵ And he released to them him that for insurrection and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

³⁸ Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, "I find no fault in Him at all.

⁴ Pilate therefore went forth again, and said to them, "Behold, I bring Him forth to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him."

¹² And from that time Pilate sought to release Him: But the Jews cried out, saying, "If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar's friend: Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar." ¹³ When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called The Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. ¹⁴ Moreover it was the Preparation of the Passover, and about the sixth hour: And he said to the Jews, "Behold your King!" ¹⁵ But they cried out, "Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him." Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar." ¹⁶ Then he therefore delivered Him to them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led Him away.

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. ¹⁴ But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted to you;

⁵⁷ When the evening had come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who himself was also Jesus' disciple: ⁵⁸ He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. ⁵⁹ And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, ⁶⁰ and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: And he rolled a large stone to the doorway of the sepulcher, and departed.

⁴⁵ Then when he was sure of it from the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. ⁴⁶ He even bought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen, and laid Him in a sepulcher which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone to the door of the sepulcher.

³¹ Then He took the twelve to Himself, and said to them, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man shall be accomplished. ³² For He shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spit on: ³³ Then they shall scourge Him, and put Him to death: And the third day He shall rise again."

⁵³ Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, in which a man was never before laid.

⁴⁴ And He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning Me."

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst."

³⁰ When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, "It is finished": Then He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost.

³⁶ For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, "A bone of Him shall not be broken." ³⁷ And again another scripture says, "They shall look on Him whom they pierced." ³⁸ And after this Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, implored Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: And Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. ³⁹ And there also came Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds in weight. ⁴⁰ Then they took the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. ⁴¹ Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, in which a man was never yet laid. ⁴² They therefore laid Jesus there because of the Jews' Preparation Day; for the sepulchre was near at hand.

²³ Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

²⁸ to do whatever Your hand and Your counsel determined beforehand to be done.

³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew and hung on a tree:

⁴ and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

⁶ He is not here: For He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."

¹⁷ Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life, that I might take it again.

²⁴ Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death: Because it was not possible that He should be held by it.

³² This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.

¹⁵ and killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead; of which we are witnesses.

¹⁰ let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him does this man stand here before you whole.

⁴⁰ Him God raised up the third day, and showed Him openly;

³¹ Because He has appointed a day, in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that Man whom He has ordained; of which He has given assurance to all men, in that He has raised Him from the dead."

²⁰ Now the God of peace, that brought forth again our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

¹⁶ Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

¹² After that, He appeared in another form to two of them, as they walked, and went into the country. ¹³ And they went and told it to the rest: Yet they did not believe them either. ¹⁴ Afterward He appeared to the eleven as they sat at a meal, and reproved them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He was risen.

³⁶ Moreover, as they spoke in this manner, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "Peace be to you." ³⁷ But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. ³⁸ And He said to them, "Why are you troubled? And why do thoughts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself: Handle Me, and see; for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see me have." ⁴⁰ And when He had spoken in this manner, He showed them His hands and His feet. ⁴¹ Moreover, while they did not yet believe out of joy, and wondered, He said to them, "Have you any food here?" ⁴² And they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish, and from a honeycomb.

⁴⁸ And you are witnesses of these things.

²⁷ And you also shall bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning."

¹⁹ Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be to you." ²⁰ And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad, when they saw the Lord. ²¹ Then Jesus said to them again, "Peace be to you: As My Father has sent Me, even so I send you." ²² And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit: ²³ Whoever's sins you remit, they are remitted to them; and whoever's sins you retain, they are retained." ²⁴ But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. ²⁵ The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see the print of the nails in His hands, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into His side, I will not believe." ²⁶ And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them: Then Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace be to you." ²⁷ Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and behold My hands; and reach your hand here, and thrust it into My side: And don't be faithless, but believing." ²⁸ And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God." ²⁹ Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed: Blessed are those that have not seen, and yet have believed."

¹ After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias; and here is the way He showed Himself. ² Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other of His disciples were together. ³ Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will also go with you." They went forth, and immediately entered into a ship; and that night they caught nothing. ⁴ But now when the morning had come, Jesus stood on the shore: But the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. ⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any food?" They answered Him, "No." ⁶ And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and you shall find some." Therefore they casted, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. ⁷ Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord." Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his fisherman's coat (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea. ⁸ And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish.200 Roman cubits is approximately 290 feet or 88.4 meters. ⁹ Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid upon it, and bread. ¹⁰ Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have now caught." ¹¹ Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of large fish, one hundred and fifty three: And although there were so many, yet the net was not broken. ¹² Jesus said to them, "Come and dine." And none of the disciples dared ask Him, "Who are You?" Knowing that it was the Lord. ¹³ Jesus then came, and took bread, and gave to them, and fish likewise. ¹⁴ This is now the third time that Jesus showed Himself to His disciples, after He was risen from the dead.

³ To whom He also showed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs, being seen by them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

⁸ But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit will come upon you: And you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth."

¹¹ which also said, "You men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into heaven."

³² And we are His witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those that obey Him."

³⁹ And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hung on a tree:

⁴¹ not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen in advance by God, even to us, who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead.

⁵ And that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve: ⁶ After that, He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain to this present, but some are deceased. ⁷ After that, He was seen by James; then by all the apostles.

³ how shall we escape, if we neglect such great salvation; which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those that heard Him; ⁴ God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, with diverse miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

³ And I will bless those that bless you, and curse him that curses you: And in you all families of the earth shall be blessed."

¹⁸ and in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed My voice.' "

⁴ and I will make your seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give to your seed all these countries; and in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and the gathering of the people shall be to Him.Shiloh is a by-name for The Messiah

¹⁵ The LORD your God will raise up to you a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brothers, similar to me; to him you shall listen;

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

⁶ For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given: And the government shall be upon His shoulder: And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from now on even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

⁹ O Zion, that brings good tidings, get up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that brings good tidings, lift up your voice with strength; lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!"

²⁷ The first shall say to Zion, 'Behold, behold them': And I will give to Jerusalem one that brings good tidings.

⁷ How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings, who publishes peace; who brings good tidings of good, who publishes salvation; who said to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

⁵ "Behold, the days come", said the LORD, "that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem to the Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks: The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. ²⁶ And after sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself: And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end of it shall be with a flood, and until the end of the war desolations are determined.

² "But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you He shall come forth to Me that is to be Ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

⁷ and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: And I will fill this house with glory', says the LORD of hosts.

¹² and speak to him, saying, 'Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying, "Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and He shall grow up out of His place, and He shall build the temple of the LORD:

¹ "In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

⁷ "Awake, O sword, against My shepherd, and against the man that is My fellow", says the LORD of hosts: "Smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: And I will turn My hand upon the little ones.

¹ "Behold, I will send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me: And the Lord, Whom all of you seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the covenant, Whom you all delight in: Behold, He shall come", says the LORD of hosts.

² But to you that fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you all shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

¹⁹ And the angel answering said to him, "I am Gabriel, that stands in the presence of God; and am sent to speak to you, and to show you these glad tidings.

⁵⁴ He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy; ⁵⁵ as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to His seed forever."

⁶⁸ "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for He has visited and redeemed His people, ⁶⁹ and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; ⁷⁰ as He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, who have been since the world began: ⁷¹ That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us; ⁷² to perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember His holy covenant; ⁷³ the oath which He swore to our father Abraham,

¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, "Do not fear: For behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

¹⁹ Therefore repent, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord shall come;

⁴² And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

³⁸ Therefore let it be known to you, men and brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins:

⁶ And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers:

¹³ For the promise, that he would be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

⁴ Who are Israelites, to whom pertains the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises;

¹⁶ Now the promises were made to Abraham and his seed. He does not say, "And to seeds", as of many; but as of one, "And to your seed", which is Christ. ¹⁷ And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before God in Christ, cannot be annulled by the law, which came four hundred and thirty years afterwards, that it should make the promise of no effect. ¹⁸ For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise: But God gave it to Abraham by promise.

⁷ "I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, 'You are My Son; this day I have begotten You.

⁵ For to which of the angels did He ever say, "You are My Son, today I have begotten You"? And again, "I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me a Son"? ⁶ And again, when He brings the first-begotten into the world, He says, "And let all the angels of God worship Him."

⁵ So also Christ did not glorify Himself to be made a High Priest; but He that said to Him, "You are My Son, today I have begotten You."

¹⁴ I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: ¹⁵ But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before you. ¹⁶ And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you: Your throne shall be established forever.

⁵ Although my house be not so with God; yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: For this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

² For I have said, "Mercy shall be built up forever: You shall establish Your faithfulness in the very heavens." ³ "I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn to David My servant, ⁴ 'I will establish your seed forever, and build up your throne to all generations.' " Selah.

³ Incline your ear, and come to Me: Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

²³ And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even My servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. ²⁴ And I the LORD will be their God, and My servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.

⁸ In that day the LORD shall defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that time shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.

³⁷ But He, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

⁹ Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dies no more; death has no more dominion over Him.

¹⁰ For You will not leave my soul in hell; neither will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

⁹ That he should still live forever, and not see corruption.

⁴⁸ What man is he that lives, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.

²⁶ And it was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

³⁶ He that believes in the Son has everlasting life: And he that does not believe the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him."

⁵¹ Truly, truly, I say to you, If anyone keeps My sayings, he shall never see death."

²⁷ Because You will not leave my soul in hell, neither will You permit Your Holy One to see corruption. ²⁸ You have made known to me the ways of life; You shall make me full of joy with Your countenance.' ²⁹ "Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us to this day. ³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, after the flesh, He would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; ³¹ he foreseeing this beforehand, spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that His soul was not left in hell, neither did His flesh see corruption.

³⁶ "For David, after he had served the will of God in his own generation, fell asleep dead, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption: ³⁷ But He, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

⁵ By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; "and was not found, because God had translated him": For before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

¹⁹ in the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, until you return to the ground; for out of it you were taken: For dust you are, and to dust you shall return."

¹⁰ So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

² And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, you were he that led out and brought in Israel: And the LORD your God said to you, You shall feed my people Israel, and you shall be ruler over my people Israel.

² And David said to all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good to you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad to our brothers everywhere, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves to us: ³ And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: For we inquired not at it in the days of Saul. ⁴ And all the congregation said that they would do so: For the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

¹² and said to them, "You are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel to the place that I have prepared for it. ¹³ For because you did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach on us, for that we sought him not after the due order. ¹⁴ So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel. ¹⁵ And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders with the staffs on it, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD. ¹⁶ And David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers to be the singers with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.

²⁵ So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obededom with joy. ²⁶ And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bulls and seven rams. ²⁷ And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bore the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had on him an ephod of linen. ²⁸ Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps. ²⁹ And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: And she despised him in her heart.

¹¹ And it shall come to pass, when your days be expired that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will raise up your seed after you, which shall be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

¹⁴ So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.

¹ Then David said, "This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel. ² And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew worked stones to build the house of God. ³ And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings; and brass in abundance without weight; ⁴ also cedar trees in abundance: For the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought much cedar wood to David. ⁵ And David said, "Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death. ⁶ Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build a house for the LORD God of Israel. ⁷ And David said to Solomon, "My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house to the name of the LORD my God: ⁸ But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "You have shed blood abundantly, and have made great wars: You shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight. ⁹ Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around: For his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. ¹⁰ He shall build a house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever. ¹¹ Now, my son, the LORD be with you; and prosper you, and build the house of the LORD your God, as he has said of you. ¹² Only the LORD give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the LORD your God. ¹³ Then you shall prosper, if you take heed to fulfill the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: Be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed. ¹⁴ Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the LORD a hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: Timber also and stone have I prepared; and you may add thereto. ¹⁵ Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work. ¹⁶ Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the LORD be with you. ¹⁷ David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying, ¹⁸ is not the LORD your God with you? And has he not given you rest on every side? For he has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people. ¹⁹ Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build you the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.

³¹ And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: And Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

¹⁶ And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: And Abijah his son reigned in his stead.

¹ Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

²³ So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, "He is a leper: And Jotham his son reigned in his stead.

¹⁴ I have said to corruption, You are my father: To the worm, You are my mother, and my sister.

²⁶ And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: ²⁷ Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

²⁶ They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

¹⁴ Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.

³⁹ Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of him that was dead, said to Him, "Lord, by this time he stinks: For he has been dead four days."

⁶⁰ Moreover he knelt down, and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not lay this sin upon their debt." And when he had said this, he died.

²² And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David to be their king; to whom also He gave testimony, and said, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who shall fulfill all My will.'

²⁷ For I have not shunned to declare to you all the counsel of God.

⁶ After that, He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain to this present, but some are deceased.

¹⁸ Then also those which are deceased in Christ are perished.

⁴² So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: ⁴³ It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: ⁴⁴ It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. ⁵⁴ So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, "Death is swallowed up in victory."

¹³ But I would not like you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who are deceased, that you do not sorrow, even as others who have no hope.

³⁰ But God raised Him from the dead:

¹ A Psalm of David, Maschil. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

⁴ But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared.

⁷ Let Israel hope in the LORD: For with the LORD there is mercy, and with Him is plentiful redemption.

³⁴ And they shall no more teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD': For they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them", said the LORD: "for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more."

³² I do not do this for your sakes", said the Lord GOD, "be it known to you: Be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel."

¹⁸ But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods nor worship the golden image which you have set up."

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, that pardons iniquity, and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not maintain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. ¹⁹ He will return again, He will have compassion upon us; He will subdue our iniquities; and You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰ You will perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which You have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

³⁸ Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

³¹ God has exalted Him with His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

⁴³ To Him all the prophets give witness, that through His name whoever believes in Him shall receive remission of sins."

¹⁸ Now all things are from God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

⁷ In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace;

³² And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you.

¹⁴ In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

⁶ But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by which He also is the Mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

¹² For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and iniquities I will remember no more." ¹³ In that He says, "A new covenant", He has made the first old. Now that which decays and waxes old is ready to vanish away.

⁹ Which was a figure for the time then present, within which both gifts and sacrifices were offered, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; ¹⁰ which stood only in foods and drinks, diverse washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. ¹¹ But Christ became a High Priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; ¹² neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. ¹³ For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh: ¹⁴ How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

²² And by the law almost all things are purged with blood; and without shedding of blood there is no remission.

⁴ For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. ⁵ Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, "You would not like sacrifice and offering, but You have prepared Me a body: ⁶ In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. ⁷ Then I said, 'Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of Me) to do Your will, O God.' " ⁸ When He said above, "You would not like sacrifice, offering, burnt offerings, nor offerings for sin, neither had pleasure in them"; which are offered according to the law; ⁹ then He said, "Behold, I come to do Your will, O God." He takes away the first, that He may establish the second. ¹⁰ By that will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ And every priest stands ministering daily and offering frequently the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: ¹² But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God; ¹³ from then on expecting till His enemies are made His footstool. ¹⁴ For by one offering He has perfected forever those that are sanctified. ¹⁵ Of which the Holy Spirit is also a witness to us: For after that He said foretelling beforehand, ¹⁶ "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them"; ¹⁷ "and their sins and iniquities I will remember no more." ¹⁸ Now where there is remission of these, there is no more offering for sin.

¹ My little children, these things I write to you so that you do not sin. And if any man sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: ² And He is the propitiation for our sins: And not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

¹² I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name's sake.

²⁰ If I justify myself, my own mouth shall condemn me: If I say, "I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.

⁴ How then can man be justified with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

² And do not enter into judgment with Your servant: For in Your sight no man living shall be justified.

¹¹ He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: By His knowledge my righteous servant shall justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities.

³² Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them", said the LORD:

⁴ Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: But the just shall live by his faith.

²⁵ And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted Him, saying, "Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"

²⁸ And He said to him, "You have answered right: Do this, and you shall live."

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: For everyone who exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted."

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

²⁴ "Truly, truly, I say to you, He who hears My word, and believes on Him that sent Me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but has passed from death to life.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever things the law says, it says to those who are under the law: That every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

²⁴ being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: ²⁵ Whom God has set out to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; ²⁶ to declare, I say, at this time His righteousness: That He might be just, and the justifier of him that believes in Jesus. ²⁷ Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No: But by the law of faith. ²⁸ Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. ²⁹ Is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: ³⁰ Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

⁵ But to him that does not work, but believes on Him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted as righteousness. ⁶ Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, to whom God imputes righteousness without works, ⁷ saying, "Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. ⁸ Blessed is the man to whom the LORD will not impute sin."

¹⁵ Because the law works wrath: For where no law is, there is no transgression.

²⁴ but for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, to us, if we believe upon Him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

¹ Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

⁹ Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

²⁰ Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

⁹ For I was alive without the law once: But when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. ¹⁰ And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to instead be to death. ¹¹ For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by the commandment slew me.

¹ There is therefore now no condemnation to those which are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

³⁰ Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called: Whom He called, these He also justified: And whom He justified, these He also glorified. ³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? ³² He that did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not together with Him also freely give us all things? ³³ Who shall blame God's elect? It is God that justifies. ³⁴ Who is he that condemns? It is Christ that died, now rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

³¹ But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.

⁴ For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes.

¹⁰ For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.

¹¹ And such were some of you: But you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁶ knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: For by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

¹⁹ For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live to God.

⁸ And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you shall all nations be blessed."

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: For it is written, "Cursed is everyone that does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them." ¹¹ But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident: For, "The just shall live by faith." ¹² And the law is not of faith: But, "The man who does them shall live in them."

²¹ Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness should have been by the law. ²² But the scripture has concluded all are under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to those that believe. ²³ But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up to the faith which should afterwards be revealed. ²⁴ Therefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. ²⁵ But after that faith has come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

³ For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

⁶ concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching upon the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. ⁷ But what things were gain to me, those I counted as losses for Christ. ⁸ Yes without doubt, and I count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: For whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as dung, that I may win Christ, ⁹ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

¹⁹ For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by which we draw near to God.

¹⁴ Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder: For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid."

⁵ "Behold among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvelously, all of you: For I will work a feat in your days, which you all will not believe, though it is told to you.

² "But who may abide the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:

¹ "For behold, the day comes, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: And the day that comes shall burn them up", says the LORD of hosts, "that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

⁹ And do not think to say within yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father': For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. ¹⁰ And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees: Therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewed down, and cast into the fire. ¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water as to repentance: But He that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry: He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire: ¹² Whose fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor, and gather His wheat into the granary; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

³ how shall we escape, if we neglect such great salvation; which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those that heard Him;

¹² Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

²⁵ See that you do not refuse Him that speaks. For if those who refused 'Him that spoke on earth' did not escape, much more we shall not escape, if we turn away from Him that speaks from heaven:

²⁴ Because I have called, and you refused; I have outstretched my hand, and no man regarded; ²⁵ but you have disregarded all my counsel, and would have none of my reproof: ²⁶ I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes; ²⁷ when your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish come upon you. ²⁸ Then they shall call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: ²⁹ For they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: ³⁰ They would have none of my counsel: They despised all my reproof. ³¹ Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. ³² For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

¹² and say, "How I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

²⁴ Therefore as the fire devours the stubble, and the flame consumes the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: Because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁴ Why hear the word of the LORD, you scornful men, that rule this people who are in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ Because you have said, "We have made a covenant with death, and with hell we are in agreement; when the overflowing whip shall pass through, it shall not come to us: For we have made lies our refuge, and we have hid ourselves under falsehood:" ¹⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: He that believes shall not make haste. ¹⁷ I will also lay judgment on the line, and righteousness to the plummet: And the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. ¹⁸ And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing whip shall pass through, then you shall be trodden down by it. ¹⁹ From the time that it goes forth it shall take you: For morning by morning it shall pass over, by day and by night: And it shall be a terror only to understand the report. ²⁰ For the bed is shorter than a man can stretch himself upon: And the covering narrower than he can wrap himself in. ²¹ For the LORD shall rise up as in Mount Perazim, He shall be angry as in the valley of Gibeon, that He may do his work, His strange work; and bring to pass His act, His strange act. ²² Now therefore you shall not be mockers, lest your bands be made strong: For I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined on the whole earth.

¹⁵ And you shall leave your name for a curse to My chosen: For the Lord GOD shall slay you, and call his servants by another name:

²⁶ And after sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself: And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end of it shall be with a flood, and until the end of the war desolations are determined. ²⁷ And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that which is determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

¹⁰ When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, "Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel. ¹¹ And I say to you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

⁴¹ They said to Him, "He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will lease out his vineyard to other vinedressers, which shall give him the fruits in their seasons." ⁴² Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures: 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner: This is the LORD'S doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'? ⁴³ Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it. ⁴⁴ And whoever falls on this stone shall be broken: But on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder."

⁷ But when the king heard about it, he was wroth: And he sent forth his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. ⁸ Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. ⁹ Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you shall find, invite to the marriage.' ¹⁰ So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they all found, both bad and good: And the wedding was furnished with guests.

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes: And some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation. ³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the prophets, and stone those which are sent to you; how often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! ³⁸ Behold, your house is left to you desolate.

¹⁴ Moreover the Pharisees, who were covetous, also heard all these things: And they derided Him.

⁴² saying, "If you had known, even you, at least in this day, the things which relate to your peace! But now they are hid from your eyes. ⁴³ For the days shall come upon you, that your enemies shall cast a trench around you, surround you, and keep you in on every side, ⁴⁴ and shall level you even with the ground, and your children within you; and they shall not leave one stone upon another in you; because you did not know the time of your visitation."

²⁰ Moreover when you see Jerusalem compassed around with armies, then know that its desolation is near. ²¹ Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; and let those who are in the midst of it depart out; and do not let those who are in the countries enter into it. ²² Because these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. ²³ But woe to those who are with child, and to those who breastfeed in those days! For there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. ²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: And Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. ²⁵ And there shall be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; ²⁶ men's hearts failing them from fear, and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth: For the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

³⁵ And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them ridiculed Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself, if He is Christ, the chosen of God."

²³ And it shall come to pass, that every soul who will not hear that Prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.'

¹⁴ For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered to us."

⁴⁷ For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, 'I have set you to be a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.' "

⁷ What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks after; but the chosen have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. ⁸ (Even as it is written, "God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear); to this day." ⁹ And David says, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling-block, and a recompense to them: ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always." ¹¹ I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: But rather through their fall salvation has come to the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy. ¹² Now if the fall of them is the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fullness? ¹³ For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify my office: ¹⁴ If by any means I may provoke to emulation those who are my flesh, and might save some of them.

³ How that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I previously wrote with few words, ⁴ by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ); ⁵ which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it is now revealed to His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; ⁶ that the Gentiles should be fellow-heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ by the gospel: ⁷ Of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effectual working of His power. ⁸ To me, who am less than the least of all saints, this grace is given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

²⁶ even the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to His saints: ²⁷ To whom God would make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to always fill up their sins: For the wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.

²⁸ He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, shall he be thought worthy, who has tread underfoot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has extreme malice toward the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know Him that has said, "Vengeance belongs to Me, I will recompense", says the Lord. And again, "The Lord shall judge His people."

¹⁷ For the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God: And if it begins first with us, what shall be the end of those that do not obey the gospel of God?

⁶ not to many people of a strange speech and of a hard language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely, had I sent you to them, they would have listened to you.

²¹ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

³⁰ But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first."

³³ Immediately therefore I sent to you; and you have done well that you have come. Now therefore, we are all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded you from God."

¹⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

³¹ Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed on Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are My disciples indeed; ³² and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

⁵ I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: For without Me you can do nothing. ⁶ If a man does not abide in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you. ⁸ In this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be My disciples. ⁹ As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you: Continue in My love. ¹⁰ If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love.

⁵ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte from Antioch:

²³ Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave to the Lord.

⁵⁰ But the Jews stirred up the devout and honorable women, and the chief men of the city, and stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their borders.

³ They therefore abode a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony to the word of His grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

²² confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

¹⁴ Then a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God, heard us: Whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended to the things which were spoken by Paul.

⁴ And some of them believed, and united with Paul and Silas; and a large multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the chief women.

³⁴ Nevertheless, certain men united with him, and believed: Among them was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

⁸ And he went into the synagogue, and spoke boldly for a span of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. ⁹ But when different people were hardened, and did not believe, but spoke evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and withdrew the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.

²⁴ being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

² By whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

²¹ That as sin has reigned to death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁶ And if by grace, then it is no longer of works: Otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, then it is no longer grace: Otherwise work is no longer work.

¹¹ Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest to God; and I also trust are made manifest in your consciences.

¹ We then, as workers together with Him, beseech you also that you do not receive the grace of God in vain.

¹ Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

⁴ Christ has become of no effect to you, whoever of you that are justified by the law; you are fallen from grace.

⁸ For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: It is the gift of God:

¹⁶ Nevertheless, concerning that which we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

¹ Therefore, my dearly beloved and longed for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

²³ If you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which you have heard, and which was preached to every creature that is under heaven; of which I, Paul, am made a minister;

²⁸ Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

³ That no man should be moved by these afflictions: For you yourselves know that we are appointed to this. ⁴ For truly, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and you know. ⁵ For this reason, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter might have tempted you, and our labor be in vain.

¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

¹¹ And we desire that every one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope to the end: ¹² That you are not slothful, but followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

¹⁵ Looking diligently lest any man be destitute of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and by this many are defiled;

⁹ Do not be carried about with diverse and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with foods, which have not profited those who have been occupied with that.

¹² By Silvanus, a faithful brother to you, as I suppose, I have written to you briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.

¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found by Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

¹⁷ You therefore, beloved, seeing you know these things beforehand, beware lest you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. ¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen.

²⁸ And now, little children, abide in Him; that when He appears, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

⁹ Whoever transgresses, and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son.

³ Your people shall be willing in the day of Your power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: You have the dew of Your youth.

⁸ Who are these that fly like a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?

¹¹ And his brothers envied him; but his father observed the saying.

²⁹ And Moses said to him, "Envy you for my sake? Would God that all the LORD's people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit on them!

⁴ Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied by his neighbor. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

¹¹ LORD, when Your hand is lifted up, they will not see: But they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy of the people; yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them.

¹⁸ For he knew that they had delivered Him out of envy.

²⁵ Now his elder son was in the field: And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. ²⁶ Therefore he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. ²⁷ And he said to him, 'Your brother has come; and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has received him safe and sound.' ²⁸ But he was angry, and would not go in: Therefore his father came out, and implored him. ²⁹ And he answering said to his father, 'Look, these many years I serve you, neither have I transgressed your commandment at any time: And yet you never gave me a kid goat, that I might make merry with my friends: ³⁰ But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your estate with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.'

¹⁷ Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation,

⁹ Then there arose certain ones from the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and by those from Cilicia and from Asia, disputing with Stephen. ¹⁰ And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

⁵ But the Jews which did not believe, moved with envy, took certain lewd fellows of the vile sort, and gathered a company, set all the city in an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

⁶ But when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his clothes, and said to them, "Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: From now on I will go to the Gentiles."

²⁹ being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; being whisperers,

³ For you are still carnal: For where there is envying, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal, and walk as men?

²¹ envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, as I have also told you in time past, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

¹⁴ But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, do not boast, and do not lie against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. ¹⁶ For where envying and strife are, there is confusion and every evil work.

⁵ Do you think that the scripture says in vain, "The Spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy"?

⁴ In which they think it is strange that you do not run with them to the same riotous excesses, speaking evil of you:

¹⁰ But these speak evil of those things which they do not know: But what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

⁹ And the LORD said to Moses, "I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people: ¹⁰ Now therefore let Me alone, that My wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: And I will make a great nation of you."

²¹ They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: And I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

¹ The wicked flee when no man pursues: But the righteous are bold as a lion.

⁵ "And now", says the LORD that formed me from the womb to be His servant, to bring Jacob again to Him, Though Israel is not gathered, yet I shall be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength. ⁶ And He said, 'It is a light thing that You should be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give You for a light to the Gentiles, that You may be My salvation to the end of the earth.' " ⁷ Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and His Holy One, to Him whom man despises, to Him whom the nation abhors, to a Servant of rulers, "Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD who is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and He shall choose You." ⁸ Thus says the LORD, "In an acceptable time I have heard You, and in a day of salvation I have helped You: And I will preserve You, and give You for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

⁵ Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know, and nations that did not know you shall run to you because of the LORD your God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for He has glorified you."

¹³ And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it: But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. ¹⁴ And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. ¹⁵ Truly I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.

⁴³ Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it.

⁶ And the rest took his servants, treated them spitefully, and slew them.

¹⁶ Then He said to him, "A certain man made a large supper, and invited many: ¹⁷ And sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, 'Come; for all things are now ready.' ¹⁸ But they all in one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a piece of ground, and I really need to go and see it: I beseech you to have me excused.' ¹⁹ And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them: I beseech you to have me excused.' ²⁰ Yet another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.' ²¹ So that servant came, and brought word of these things to his lord. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring into this place the poor, and the maimed, and the lame, and the blind.' ²² And the servant said, 'Lord, it is done as you have commanded, and yet there is room.' ²³ Then the lord said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. ²⁴ For I say to you, That none of those men who were called shall taste of my supper.' "

¹¹ He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.

²² You worship what you do not know: We know what we worship: For salvation is of the Jews.

¹³ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they had knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

²⁹ And now Lord, behold their threats: And grant to Your servants, that with all boldness they may speak Your word, ³⁰ by stretching forth Your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Your holy Child Jesus." ³¹ And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness.

⁵¹ "You stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit: As your fathers did, so you do.

⁵ And when Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ. ⁶ But when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his clothes, and said to them, "Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: From now on I will go to the Gentiles."

²⁰ But brought word first to those of Damascus, and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works worthy for repentance.

¹⁰ but glory, honor, and peace to every man who works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

⁴ Who are Israelites, to whom pertains the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; ⁵ whose are the fathers, and from whom as far as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

¹⁹ But I say, did Israel not know? First Moses says, "I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you." ²⁰ But Isaiah is very bold, and said, "I was found by those that did not seek Me; I was made manifest to those that did not ask for Me." ²¹ But to Israel he said, "All day long I have stretched forth My hands to a disobedient and contrary people."

¹¹ I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: But rather through their fall salvation has come to the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy. ¹² Now if the fall of them is the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fullness? ¹³ For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify my office:

¹⁹ and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, ²⁰ for which I am an ambassador in chains: That I may speak the gospel boldly, as I ought to speak.

¹⁴ and many of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

³⁴ quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

²⁷ All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD: And all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before You. ²⁸ For the kingdom is the LORD's: And He is the governor among the nations. ²⁹ All those that are fat upon earth shall eat and worship: All those that go down to the dust shall bow before Him: And none can keep alive his own soul.

² That Your way may be known upon earth, Your saving health among all nations. ³ Let the people praise You, O God; let all the people praise You. ⁴ O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: For You shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. ⁵ Let the people praise You, O God; let all the people praise You. ⁶ Then the earth shall yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. ⁷ God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.

⁷ In His days the righteous shall flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endures.so long as the moon endures: In Hebrew, until there is no moon ⁸ He shall also have dominion from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth.

¹ O sing to the LORD a new song: Sing to the LORD, all the earth. ² Sing to the LORD, bless His name; show forth His salvation from day to day.

² The LORD has made known His salvation: He has openly shown His righteousness in the sight of the heathen. ³ He has remembered His mercy and His truth toward the house of Israel: All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

¹ O praise the LORD, all you nations: Praise Him, all you people. ² For His merciful kindness is great toward us: And the truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD.

¹ The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. ² And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. ³ And many people shall go and say, "Come all of you, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths": For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

¹³ Thus when it shall be in the middle of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done. ¹⁴ They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea. ¹⁵ Why do you glorify the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea. ¹⁶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, "My leanness, my leanness, woe to me! The treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yes, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

¹ Behold My servant, whom I uphold; My elect, in whom My soul delights; I have put My spirit on Him: He shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

⁶ I the LORD have called You in righteousness, and will hold Your hand, and will keep You, and give You as a covenant to the people, for a light to the Gentiles;

⁹ Behold, the former things have come to pass, and I declare new things: Before they spring forth I tell you of them. ¹⁰ Sing to the LORD a new song, and His praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it; the isles, and their inhabitants. ¹¹ Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits: Let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. ¹² Let them give glory to the LORD, and declare His praise in the islands.

²² Look to Me, and you will be saved, all the ends of the earth: For I am God, and there is none other.

⁶ And He said, 'It is a light thing that You should be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give You for a light to the Gentiles, that You may be My salvation to the end of the earth.' "

¹⁰ The LORD has made bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

¹⁹ So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. ²⁰ "And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and to those who turn from transgression in Jacob", said the LORD.

³ And the Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

¹⁹ O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth, and shall say, "Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things in which there is no profit."

¹⁰ Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said to them, 'You are not My people', there it shall be said to them, 'You are the sons of the living God.'

¹² That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by My name", says the LORD that does this.

² And many nations shall come, and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths": For the law shall go forth from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. ³ And He shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks: Nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

⁷ And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that does not tarry on account of man, nor wait for the sons of men.

⁹ For then I will turn the people to a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve Him with one consent. ¹⁰ From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia My humble petitioners, even the daughter of My dispersed, shall bring My offering.

¹¹ "And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be My people: And I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.

²⁰ Thus says the LORD of hosts; 'It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities: ²¹ And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, "Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also." ²² Yes, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.' ²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts; 'In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, "We will go with you: For we have heard that God is with you."

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even to the going down of the same, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered to My name, and a pure offering: For My name shall be great among the heathen", says the LORD of hosts.

¹⁹ Go therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit:

¹⁵ And He said to them, "Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

³² a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel."

¹⁴ Simon has declared how God at first visited the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for His name. ¹⁵ And the words of the prophets agree with this; as it is written, ¹⁶ 'After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; and I will build again its ruins, and I will set it up:

¹⁷ delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, ¹⁸ to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith that is in Me.'

²³ That Christ would suffer, and that He should be the first that would rise from the dead, and would show light to the people, and to the Gentiles."

² I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and for Your truth: For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.

⁸ For I also am a man set under authority, having soldiers under me, and I say to one, 'Go', and he goes; and to another, 'Come', and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this', and he does it."

¹⁶ And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: Them also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

²⁶ But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. ²⁷ My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me:

⁵² and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.

⁴¹ Then those that gladly received his word were baptized: And the same day there were about three thousand souls added to them.

⁴⁷ praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those such as should be saved.

⁸ And there was great joy in that city.

² Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and dispute with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain others of them, should go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.

³¹ Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

¹³ And we went onward to ship, and sailed to Assos, there intending to take Paul onboard: For he had appointed this, minding himself to go there on foot.

¹⁰ And I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me, 'Arise, and go into Damascus; and there you shall be told about all the things which are appointed for you to do.'

²⁹ For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. ³⁰ Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called: Whom He called, these He also justified: And whom He justified, these He also glorified.

⁷ What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks after; but the chosen have obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

¹ Let every soul be subject to the higher powers. For there is no power but from God: The powers that be are ordained by God.

⁹ And that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy; as it is written, "For this reason I will confess to You among the Gentiles, and sing to Your name." ¹⁰ And again he said, "Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people." ¹¹ And again, "Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles; and laud Him, all you people." ¹² And again, Isaiah said, "There shall be a root of Jesse, and He that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in Him shall the Gentiles trust."

¹⁵ I beseech you, brethren, (you know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)

⁴ Even as He has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:

¹⁹ and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power,

⁵ even when we were dead in sins, has vivified us together with Christ, (by grace you are saved); ⁶ and has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: ⁷ That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. ⁸ For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: It is the gift of God: ⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast. ¹⁰ For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has ordained beforehand that we should walk in them.

¹³ But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has chosen you for salvation from the beginning through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: ¹⁴ Therefore He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free run, and be glorified, even as it is with you:

⁴² And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

²⁴ But the Word of God grew and multiplied.

¹⁰ And this continued for a span of two years; so that all those who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

²⁶ Moreover, you see and hear that not only at Ephesus, but throughout almost all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are not gods, which are made with hands:

¹³ so that my chains in Christ are apparent in all the palace, and in all other places; ¹⁴ and many of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

²⁵ But there was none like to Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

⁵ Hear the word of the LORD, you who tremble at His word; Your brothers who hated you, that cast you out for My name's sake, said, 'Let the LORD be glorified': But He shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

¹² Also Amaziah said to Amos, "O you seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee into another: For truly I say to you, You shall not finish going through the cities of Israel, until the Son of Man comes.

¹⁷ Then they began to beseech Him to depart out from their coasts.

⁵ And there were Jews dwelling in Jerusalem, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

¹² And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

¹ Moreover Saul was consenting to his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

⁴⁵ But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spoke against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

² But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds inclined toward evil against the brethren.

³⁷ But Paul said to them, "They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? No indeed; but let them come themselves and fetch us out." ³⁸ And the sergeants told these words to the magistrates: And they feared, when they heard that they were Romans. ³⁹ Therefore they came and implored them, and brought them out, and desired that they depart out of the city.

¹³ But when the Jews from Thessalonica were aware that the Word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came there also, and stirred up the people.

²⁷ Now when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews from Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,

² For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

²⁶ For you see your calling, brethren, how not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: ²⁷ But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; ²⁸ and base things of the world, and things which are despised, God has chosen, yes, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are: ²⁹ That no flesh should glory in His presence.

¹⁵ Who killed both the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God, and are contrary to all men: ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to always fill up their sins: For the wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.

¹¹ persecutions, afflictions, which came to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: But the Lord delivered me out of them all.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He has promised to those that love Him? ⁶ But you have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

¹⁴ And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.

¹¹ And whoever does not receive you, nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Truly I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city."

⁵ And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them."

²¹ And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,

² He was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.

¹² Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad: For great is your reward in heaven: For in like manner they persecuted the prophets which were before you.

²² Blessed are you, when men hate you, and when they separate you from their company, and reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of Man's sake. ²³ Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy: For behold, your reward is great in heaven: For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.

²² Therefore you now have sorrow: But I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and no man will take your joy from you. ²³ And in that day you shall ask Me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, Whatever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give you it.

⁴⁶ And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, ate their food with gladness and singleness of heart,

⁴¹ Therefore they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.

³ And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations: Knowing that tribulation works patience;

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not food and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

¹³ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

² how that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their liberality.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

¹⁸ And do not be drunk with wine, in which is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; ¹⁹ speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; ²⁰ giving thanks always for all things to God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

⁶ And you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit:

² My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations;

⁶ In which you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through diverse temptations: ⁷ That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found to praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: ⁸ Whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with unspeakable joy and full of glory:

¹³ But rejoice, considering that you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that when His glory shall be revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
