³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: And He does according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: And none can stay His hand, or say to Him, "What are You doing?"

¹⁸ And Samuel told him every word, and hid nothing from him. And he said, "It is the LORD: Let Him do what seems good to Him."

⁴ He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: Who has hardened himself against him, and has prospered?

¹² Behold, he takes away, who can hinder him? Who will say to him, What do you? ¹³ If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.

¹³ But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? And what his soul desires, even that he does.

¹² Behold, in this you are not just: I will answer you, that God is greater than man. ¹³ Why do you strive against him? For he gives not account of any of his matters.

¹⁴ If he set his heart upon man, if he gather to himself his spirit and his breath; ¹⁵ all flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again to dust.

¹⁹ How much less to him that accepts not the persons of princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor? For they all are the work of his hands. ²⁰ In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: And the mighty shall be taken away without hand. ²¹ For his eyes are on the ways of man, and he sees all his goings. ²² There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. ²³ For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God. ²⁴ He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.

²⁹ When he gives quietness, who then can make trouble? And when he hides his face, who then can behold him? Whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

² shall he that contends with the Almighty instruct him? He that reproves God, let him answer it.

⁹ Do you have an arm like God? Or can you thunder with a voice like Him? ¹⁰ Deck yourself now with majesty and excellency; and array yourself with glory and beauty. ¹¹ Cast abroad the rage of your wrath: And behold everyone that is proud, and abase him. ¹² Look on everyone that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

² I know that you can do every thing, and that no thought can be withheld from you.

⁸ Let all the earth fear the LORD: Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. ⁹ For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. ¹⁰ The LORD brings the counsel of the heathen to nothing: He makes the devices of the people of no effect. ¹¹ The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations.

¹⁴ From the place of His habitation He looks upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. Hear this, all you people; give ear, you inhabitants of the world:

³ But our God is in the heavens: He has done whatever He has pleased.

⁶ Whatever the LORD pleased, that He did in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

²⁴ The LORD of hosts has sworn, saying, "Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: ²⁵ That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and tread him under foot on my mountains: Then his yoke shall depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders. ²⁶ This is the purpose that is purposed on the whole earth: And this is the hand that is outstretched on all the nations. ²⁷ For the LORD of hosts has purposed, and who shall cancel it? And his hand is outstretched, and who shall turn it back?

⁹ With my soul I have desired You in the night; yes, with my spirit within me I will seek You early: For when Your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

¹⁵ Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: Behold, He takes up the isles as a very little thing. ¹⁶ And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt offering. ¹⁷ All nations before Him are as nothing; and they are counted to Him less than nothing, and vanity.

²² It is He who sits on the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are as grasshoppers; that stretches out heaven as a curtain, and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in: ²³ Who brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth as vanity. ²⁴ Yes, they shall not be planted; yes, they shall not be sown: Yes, their stock shall not take root in the earth: And He shall also blow on them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.

¹³ Yes, before the day was, I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of My hand: I will work, and who shall hinder it?

⁹ Woe to him that strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him who fashions it, 'What are you making?' Or your work, 'He has no handles?' ¹⁰ Woe to him that said to his father, 'What are you begetting?' or to the woman, 'What have you brought forth?' ¹¹ Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, "Ask me of things to come concerning My sons, and concerning the work of My hands you command me, you command Me.

¹⁰ declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure': ¹¹ Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executes My counsel from a far country: Yes, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, "I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes. ²⁶ Even so, Father: For so it seemed good in Your sight.

²⁸ to do whatever Your hand and Your counsel determined beforehand to be done.

³⁹ But if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it; lest you may even be found to fight against God."

⁵ And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" And the Lord said, "I am Jesus whom you persecute: It is hard for you to kick against the prods."

¹⁷ Seeing then that God gave them the same gift as He did to us, who believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ; who was I, that I could withstand God?"

¹⁹ Then you will say to me, "Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?" ²⁰ No rather, O man, who are you that replies against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, "Why have you made me like this?"

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out! ³⁴ "For who has known the mind of the LORD? Or who has been His counselor?" ³⁵ "Or who has first given to Him, and it shall be recompensed to him again?" ³⁶ For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things: To whom be glory forever. Amen.

¹⁶ "For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

²² Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

¹¹ In Whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things after the counsel of His own will:

¹⁰ That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things on earth, and things under the earth; ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
