²⁶ "Be angry, and do not sin": Do not let the sun go down upon your wrath:

⁸ And all these, your servants, shall come down to me, and bow down themselves to me, saying, 'Get out, you and all the people that follow you': And after that I will go out." And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.

²¹ And Moses said to Aaron, "What did this people say to you, that you have brought so great a sin upon them?" ²² And Aaron said, "Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: You know the people, that they are set on mischief.

¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said to them, "Hear now, you rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? ¹¹ And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: And the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. ¹² And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, Because you believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. ¹³ This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.

²⁴ aaron shall be gathered to his people: For he shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.

⁷ And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; ⁸ and he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. ⁹ And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand. ¹⁰ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ¹¹ phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.

¹⁵ At his day you shall give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down on it; for he is poor, and sets his heart on it: Lest he cry against you to the LORD, and it be sin to you.

⁶ And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words. ⁷ Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said to them, "You exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them. ⁸ And I said to them, "We after our ability have redeemed our brothers the Jews, which were sold to the heathen; and will you even sell your brothers? Or shall they be sold to us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer. ⁹ Also I said, "It is not good that you do: Ought you not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies? ¹⁰ I likewise, and my brothers, and my servants, might exact of them money and grain: I implore you, let us leave off this usury. ¹¹ Restore, I implore you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the grain, the wine, and the oil, that you exact of them. ¹² Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as you say. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise. ¹³ Also I shook my lap, and said, "So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, that performs not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, "Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.

⁴ Stand in awe, and do not sin: Commune with your own heart on your bed, and be still. Selah.

⁸ Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: Likewise do not fret yourself into doing evil.

³⁰ Then Phinehas stood up, and executed judgment: And so the plague was halted. ³¹ And that was counted to him for righteousness to all generations forevermore. ³² They also angered Him at the waters of strife, so that it went badly with Moses for their sakes: ³³ Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spoke unadvisedly with his lips.

²⁹ He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: But he that is hasty of spirit exalts folly.

¹¹ The discretion of a man defers his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

²³ The north wind drives away rain: So does an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.

⁹ Do not be hasty to be angry in your spirit: For anger rests in the bosom of fools.

²² But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: And whoever shall say to his brother, 'You vain fellow' shall be in danger of the council: But whoever says, 'You fool', shall be in danger of hell fire.

⁵ And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved because of the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, "Stretch forth your hand." And he stretched it out; and his hand was restored whole like the other.

¹⁴ But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased, and said to them, "Permit the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of God.

¹⁹ Dearly beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath: For it is written, "Vengeance is Mine; I will repay", says the Lord. ²⁰ Therefore "If your enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, give him a drink: For in so doing you shall heap coals of fire upon his head." ²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

³¹ Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice: ³² And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you.

¹⁹ Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
