²¹ And Elijah came to all the people, and said, "How long halt you between two opinions? If the LORD be God, follow him: But if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

²⁹ see you how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: But in his son's days will I bring the evil on his house.

¹⁴ if my people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

¹² And when he was in affliction, he sought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,

¹⁹ His prayer also, and how God was entreated of him, and all his sins, and his trespass, and the places in which he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: Behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.

²⁷ because your heart was tender, and you did humble yourself before God, when you heard his words against this place, and against its inhabitants, and humbled yourself before me, and did rend your clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard you also", says the LORD.

⁶ For which reason I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

²² "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? And the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

²⁴ Because I have called, and you refused; I have outstretched my hand, and no man regarded;

¹² Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility.

⁵ Why should you be stricken any more? You will revolt more and more: The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

¹¹ The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

¹⁰ This evil people, who refuse to hear My words, who walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall be like even this girdle, which is good for nothing.

¹⁸ Say to the king and to the queen, "Humble yourselves, sit down: For your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory."

⁶ And she has changed My judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and My statutes more than the countries that are around her: For they have refused My judgments and My statutes, they have not walked in them.'

⁴ Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

²⁵ See that you do not refuse Him that speaks. For if those who refused 'Him that spoke on earth' did not escape, much more we shall not escape, if we turn away from Him that speaks from heaven:

¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.

⁶ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:
