¹⁵ And the LORD said to him, "Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him.

²⁴ If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold."

⁶ Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed: For He made man in the image of God.

²⁶ And if a man smites the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perishes; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake. ²⁷ And if he smites out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.

¹⁹ The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: When he meets him, he shall slay him.

³⁰ Whoever kills any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: But one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die. ³¹ Moreover you shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: But he shall surely be put to death. ³² And you shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest. ³³ So you shall not pollute the land in which you are: For blood it defiles the land: And the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed in it, but by the blood of him that shed it.

²¹ And your eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

¹⁹ A servant will not be corrected by words: For though he understand he will not answer.

³ They say, 'Why have we fasted, and You do not see? Why have we afflicted our soul, and You do not take notice?' Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and compel all your labors. ⁴ Behold, you fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: You shall not fast as you do this day, to make your voice heard on high.

⁴ For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain: For he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil.
