¹⁶ and you take of their daughters to your sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make your sons go a whoring after their gods.

¹ And Israel stayed in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. ² And they called the people to the sacrifices of their gods: And the people ate, and bowed down to their gods.

³ Neither shall you make marriages with them; your daughter you shall not give to his son, nor his daughter shall you take to your son. ⁴ For they will turn away your son from following me, that they may serve other gods: So will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy you suddenly.

² Of the nations concerning which the LORD said to the children of Israel, You shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in to you: For surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon joined to these in love. ³ And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: And his wives turned away his heart. ⁴ For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: And his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

² For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: So that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: Yes, the hand of the princes and rulers has been chief in this trespass.

²³ In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:

²⁵ And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, "You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters to your sons, or for yourselves.

¹⁴ Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers: For what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what part has he that believes with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as God has said: "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." ¹⁷ Therefore "Come out from among them, and be separate, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean thing; and I will receive you",
