¹⁰ Your mother is like a vine in your blood, planted by the waters: She was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.

⁶ As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD has planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters. ⁷ He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

⁷ For the LORD your God brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

⁹ A land in which you shall eat bread without scarceness, you shall not lack anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you may dig brass.

⁸ You have brought a vine out of Egypt: You have cast out the heathen, and planted it. ⁹ You prepared a place before it, and caused it to take deep root, and it filled the land. ¹⁰ The hills were covered with its shadow, and its boughs were like the mighty cedars. ¹¹ She sent out her boughs to the sea, and her branches to the river.

²⁵ I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers. ²⁶ He shall cry to Me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.' ²⁷ Also I will make him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. ²⁸ I will keep My mercy for him forevermore, and My covenant shall stand fast with him. ²⁹ I will also make his seed to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

¹ Now I will sing to my well Beloved a song of my Beloved touching His vineyard. My well Beloved has a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: ² And He fenced it, and gathered out the stones of it, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the middle of it, and also made a winepress in it: And He expected that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes. ³ "And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, I implore you, judge between Me and My vineyard. ⁴ What more could have been done to My vineyard, that I have not done in it? Why, when I expected that it should bring forth grapes, it brought forth wild grapes?

² "Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any other tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest? ³ Shall wood be taken from it to do any work? Or will men take a peg of it to hang any vessel upon it? ⁴ Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devours both the ends of it, and the middle of it is burned. Is it suitable for any work? ⁵ Behold, when it was whole, it was not suitable for work: How much less shall it be suitable for any work, when the fire has devoured it, and it is burned? ⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; 'As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given for fuel to the fire, so I will give the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ⁷ And I will set My face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and you shall know that I am the LORD, when I set My face against them. ⁸ And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass', said the Lord GOD."

⁶ And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and its roots were under him: So it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.

² and say, 'What is your mother? A lioness: She lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps among young lions.

² Plead with your mother, plead: For she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: Let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

⁵ For their mother has played the harlot: She that conceived them has done shamefully: For she said, 'I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.'

³³ Hear another parable: There was a certain householder who planted a vineyard, and hedged it all around, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and leased it out to vinedressers, and went into a far country: ³⁴ Now when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the vinedressers, that they might receive the fruit of it. ³⁵ But the vinedressers took his servants, and beat one, killed another, and stoned yet another. ³⁶ Again, he sent other servants more than the first: And they did likewise to them. ³⁷ But last of all he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will reverence my son.' ³⁸ But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.' ³⁹ And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. ⁴⁰ Therefore when the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vinedressers? ⁴¹ They said to Him, "He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will lease out his vineyard to other vinedressers, which shall give him the fruits in their seasons."
