¹ And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ² "Son of man, speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude; 'Whom are you like in your greatness? ³ Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of a high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs. ⁴ The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running around his plants, and sent her little rivers to all the trees of the field. ⁵ Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth. ⁶ All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches all the wild beasts of the field brought forth their young, and under his shadow all great nations dwelled. ⁷ Thus he was fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: For his root was by great waters. ⁸ The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: The fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chestnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like him in his beauty. ⁹ I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: So that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.' ¹⁰ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; 'Because you have lifted yourself up in height, and he has shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height; ¹¹ I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness. ¹² And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: On the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth have gone down from his shadow, and have left him. ¹³ All the fowls of the heaven shall remain on his ruin, and all the wild beasts of the field shall be on his branches: ¹⁴ To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all who drink water: For they are all delivered to death, to the lower parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with those who go down to the pit.' ¹⁵ Thus says the Lord GOD; 'In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained its floods, and the great waters were stayed: And I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him. ¹⁶ I made the nations shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with those who descend into the pit: And all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the lower parts of the earth. ¹⁷ They also went down into hell with him to those who were slain with the sword; and they who were his arm, who dwelled under his shadow in the midst of the heathen. ¹⁸ To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? Yet you shall be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lower parts of the earth: You shall lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude', said the Lord GOD."

⁵ So the city was besieged to the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. ⁶ And in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

² On the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,

²⁰ And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh day of the month, that the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

¹³ For you have said in your heart, "I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, in uttermost sides of the north: ¹⁴ I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High."

⁵ "Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations."

¹⁷ You therefore gird up your loins, and arise, and speak to them all whom I command you: Be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound you before them.

¹⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; 'Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall take her multitude, and take her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army.

¹⁰ Thus says the Lord GOD; "I will also make the multitude of Egypt cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.

¹⁸ To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? Yet you shall be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lower parts of the earth: You shall lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude', said the Lord GOD."

⁸ Are you better than populous No, that was situated among the rivers, that had the waters all around it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?populous No: In Hebrew, No Amon ⁹ Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were your helpers. ¹⁰ Yet she was carried away, she went into captivity: Her young children also were dashed in pieces at the head of all the streets: And they cast lots for her honorable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

¹¹ And he said to me, "You must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings."

¹⁵ And the bramble said to the trees, If in truth you anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: And if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.

³³ Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: And the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled. ³⁴ And He shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a Mighty One.

²⁴ By your servants you have reproached the Lord, and have said, "By the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars of it, and its choice fir trees: And I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his Carmel.

³ and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "A great eagle with great wings, long winged, full of feathers, which had various colors, came to Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar: ⁴ He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffic; he set it in a city of merchants.

²² Thus says the Lord GOD; "I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it on a high and eminent mountain:

⁶ All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches all the wild beasts of the field brought forth their young, and under his shadow all great nations dwelled.

¹⁶ I made the nations shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with those who descend into the pit: And all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the lower parts of the earth.

¹⁰ Thus were the visions of my head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height of it was great.

¹² Its leaves were fair, and its fruit plentiful, and in it was food for all: The wild beasts of the field had shade under it, and the birds of heaven dwelt in its boughs, and all flesh was fed by it.

²⁰ The tree that you saw, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached to the heaven, and the sight of it to all the earth; ²¹ whose leaves were fair, and its fruit plentiful, and in it was food for all; under which the wild beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the birds of the heaven had their habitation: ²² It is you, O king, that are grown and have become strong: For your greatness has grown, and reaches to heaven, and your dominion to the end of the earth. ²³ And as the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, 'Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the wild beasts of the field, until seven times pass over him;'

¹ Woe to the bloody city! It is all full of lies and robbery; the prey does not depart; ² the noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the prancing horses, and of the jumping chariots. ³ The horseman lifts up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: And there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcasses; and there is no end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:the bright sword and the glittering spear: In Hebrew, the flame of the sword, and the lightning of the spear ⁴ Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the well-favored harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that sells nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts. ⁵ "Behold, I am against you", says the LORD of hosts; "and I will expose your skirts upon your face, and I will show the nations your nakedness, and the kingdoms your shame. ⁶ And I will cast abominable filth upon you, and make you vile, and will set you as a gazingstock. ⁷ And it shall come to pass, that all those that look upon you shall flee from you, and say, 'Nineveh is laid waste: Who will bemoan her?' ¹³ And He will stretch out His hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.

² Howl, fir tree; for the cedar has fallen; because the mighty are ruined: Howl, O all you oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage has come down.

²⁸ In the multitude of people is the king's honor: But in the shortfall of people is the destruction of the prince.

³⁶ Therefore thus says the LORD; "Behold, I will plead your cause, and take vengeance for you; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.

⁵ He also took of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.

⁸ It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine."

¹ And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying to me, "Come here; I will show you the judgment of the great whore that sits upon many waters:

¹⁵ And he said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the whore sits, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

³⁵ I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. ³⁶ Yet he passed away, and see, he was not there: Yes, I sought him, but he could not be found.

⁸ For he said, "Are not my princes altogether kings?" ⁹ Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus? ¹⁰ As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria; ¹¹ shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, do so to Jerusalem and her idols? ¹² Therefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord has performed His whole work upon Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks. ¹³ For he said, "By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: And I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man: ¹⁴ And my hand has found as a nest the riches of the people: And as one gathers eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped."

⁴ And Rabshakeh said to them, "Say now to Hezekiah, 'Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this in which you trust?'

¹⁸ Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, 'The LORD will deliver us.' Has any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? ¹⁹ Where are the gods of Hamath and Arphad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? And have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?

¹¹ Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shall you be delivered? ¹² Have the gods of the nations delivered those whom my fathers have destroyed, as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Telassar? ¹³ Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?"

¹¹ The tree grew, and was strong, and the height of it reached to heaven, and the sight of it to the end of all the earth:

²³ I plant it on the mountain of the height of Israel: And it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: And under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of its branches they they dwell.

²¹ whose leaves were fair, and its fruit plentiful, and in it was food for all; under which the wild beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the birds of the heaven had their habitation:

³² Which indeed is the least of all seeds: But when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches."

⁸ And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and He put the man whom He had formed there. ⁹ And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; also the tree of life in the middle of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

¹⁰ And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of the Jordan river, that it was well watered everywhere, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as you come to Zoar.

³⁵ I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

¹⁰ The hills were covered with its shadow, and its boughs were like the mighty cedars.

⁷ However, he does not mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off not a few nations.

⁴ And Rabshakeh said to them, "Say now to Hezekiah, 'Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this in which you trust?' ⁵ I say, "you speak (but they are mere vain words) 'I have counsel and strength for war': Now on whom do you trust, that you rebel against me? ⁶ See, you trust in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him. ⁷ But if you say to me, 'We trust in the LORD our God: Is it not He, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, You shall worship before this altar?' ⁸ Now therefore, I implore you, give pledges to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them. ⁹ How then will you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen? ¹⁰ And have I now come up without the LORD against this land to destroy it? The LORD said to me, 'Go up against this land, and destroy it.' " ¹¹ Then Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said to Rabshakeh, "Speak, I implore you, to your servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: And do not speak to us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall." ¹² But Rabshakeh said, "Has my master sent me to your master and to you to speak these words? Has he not sent me to the men that sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own urine with you?" ¹³ Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried out with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and said, "Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria. ¹⁴ Thus says the king, 'Do not let Hezekiah deceive you: For he shall not be able to deliver you. ¹⁵ Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, "The LORD will surely deliver us: This city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.' ¹⁶ Do not listen to Hezekiah: For thus says the king of Assyria, 'Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me: And everyone eat of his vine, and everyone of his fig tree, and everyone drink the waters of his own cistern; ¹⁷ until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.' ¹⁸ Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, 'The LORD will deliver us.' Has any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

³ For the LORD shall comfort Zion: He will comfort all her waste places; and He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found in it, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

¹³ You have been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: The workmanship of your timbrels and of your pipes was prepared in you in the day that you were created.sardius; or, rubyberyl; or, chrysoliteemerald; or, chrysoprase

¹⁴ For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: And the Philistines envied him.

¹¹ And his brothers envied him; but his father observed the saying.

¹⁶ And in fact for this very cause I have raised you up, through you to show My power; and that My name may be declared throughout all the earth.

⁸ The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said to the olive tree, Reign you over us. ⁹ But the olive tree said to them, "Should I leave my fatness, with which by me they honor God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? ¹⁰ And the trees said to the fig tree, Come you, and reign over us. ¹¹ But the fig tree said to them, "Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees? ¹² Then said the trees to the vine, Come you, and reign over us. ¹³ And the vine said to them, "Should I leave my wine, which cheers God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? ¹⁴ Then said all the trees to the bramble, Come you, and reign over us. ¹⁵ And the bramble said to the trees, If in truth you anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: And if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon. ¹⁶ Now therefore, if you have done truly and sincerely, in that you have made Abimelech king, and if you have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done to him according to the deserving of his hands; ¹⁷ (For my father fought for you, and adventured his life far, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian: ¹⁸ And you are risen up against my father's house this day, and have slain his sons, three score and ten persons, on one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother); ¹⁹ If you then have dealt truly and sincerely with Jerubbaal and with his house this day, then rejoice you in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you: ²⁰ But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.

¹⁵ Therefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.

⁶ For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. ⁷ But God is the judge: He puts down one, and sets up another.

¹² Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it: Then all the trees of the woods shall rejoice ¹³ before the LORD: For He comes, for He comes to judge the earth: He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with His truth.

⁴ Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?

⁴ Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied by his neighbor. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

¹² For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: The mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

¹⁴ And your renown went forth among the heathen for your beauty: For it was perfect through My splendor, which I had put on you", said the Lord GOD.

²⁴ And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it."

²¹ And He changes the times and the seasons: He removes kings, and sets up kings: He gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those that know understanding:

³⁷ You, O king, are a king of kings: For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. ³⁸ And wherever the children of men dwell, He has given the wild beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all. You are this head of gold.

²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was disposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: ²¹ And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys: They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; until he knew that the Most High God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that He appoints over it whomever He will. ²² And you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this; ²³ but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you, and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them; and have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know: And the God in Whose hand is your breath, and Whose are all your ways, you have not glorified:

⁵ Do you think that the scripture says in vain, "The Spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy"? ⁶ But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

¹⁹ You say, 'Lo, you have smitten the Edomites'; and your heart lifts you up to boast: Abide now at home; why should you meddle to your hurt, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?

²⁵ But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done to him; for his heart was lifted up: Therefore there was wrath on him, and on Judah and Jerusalem.

¹¹ For he knows vain men: He sees wickedness also; will he not then consider it? ¹² For vain men would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt.

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

¹² Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility.

¹² Therefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord has performed His whole work upon Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

¹⁴ To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all who drink water: For they are all delivered to death, to the lower parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with those who go down to the pit.'

³⁰ The king spoke, and said, "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?"

²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was disposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

³ The pride of your heart has deceived you, you that dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that says in his heart, 'Who shall bring me down to the ground?'

¹² And whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

⁶ But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

²⁴ Defile not you yourselves in any of these things: For in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: ²⁵ And the land is defiled: Therefore I do visit its iniquity on it, and the land itself vomits out her inhabitants. ²⁶ You shall therefore keep My statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourns among you: ²⁷ (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled); ²⁸ That the land spew not you out also, when you defile it, as it spewed out the nations that were before you.

²² You shall therefore keep all My statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: That the land, where I bring you to dwell in it, spew you not out. ²³ And you shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: For they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.

¹² For all that do these things are an abomination to the LORD: And because of these abominations the LORD your God does drive them out from before you.

⁷ And Adonibezek said, "Three score and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table: As I have done, so God has requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.

²³ Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god, and to rejoice: For they said, "Our god has delivered our enemy Samson into our hand."

⁹ behold, I will send and take all the families of the north', said the LORD, 'and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations all around, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

²¹ They have heard that I sigh: There is none to comfort me: All my enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that you have done it: You will bring the day that you have proclaimed, and they shall become like me.

⁹ "And I will bring you out of the midst of it, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.

³¹ And I will pour out My indignation on you, I will blow against you in the fire of My wrath, and deliver you into the hand of brutish men, and skillful to destroy.

²⁸ For thus says the Lord GOD; "Behold, I will deliver you into the hand of those who you hate, into the hand of those from whom your mind is alienated:

¹¹ For thus says the Lord GOD; 'The sword of the king of Babylon shall come on you. ¹² By the swords of the mighty I will cause your multitude to fall, the terrible of the nations, all of them: And they shall spoil the pomp of Egypt, and all its multitude shall be destroyed.

¹⁸ O king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honor: ¹⁹ And for the majesty that He gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: He slew whom he would, and he kept alive whom he would; and he set up whom he would; and he put down whom he would.

¹⁸ Your shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: Your nobles shall dwell in the dust: Your people are scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathers them.

¹ "Judge not, that you be not judged. ² For with the judgment you judge, you shall be judged: And with what measure you use to measure, it shall be measured to you again.

²⁰ Of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered to Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

¹³ For he that has shown no mercy shall have judgment without mercy; and mercy rejoices against judgment.

⁵ For My sword shall be bathed in heaven: Behold, it shall come down on Edom, and on the people of My curse, for judgment. ⁶ The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom. ⁷ And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bulls with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.

⁷ behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon you, the terrible ones of the nations: And they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and they shall defile your brightness.

¹¹ He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought to destroy the land: And they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.

⁴ Then I will leave you upon the land, I will cast you forth on the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain on you, and I will fill the wild beasts of the whole earth with you. ⁵ And I will lay your flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with your height.

¹² By the swords of the mighty I will cause your multitude to fall, the terrible of the nations, all of them: And they shall spoil the pomp of Egypt, and all its multitude shall be destroyed.

⁵ Because you have had a perpetual hatred, and have shed the blood of the children of Israel by force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:

⁸ And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: In your hills, and in your valleys, and in all your rivers, those who are slain with the sword shall fall.

⁴ You shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, you, and all your bands, and the people that are with you: I will give you to the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the wild beasts of the field to be devoured.

¹² Its leaves were fair, and its fruit plentiful, and in it was food for all: The wild beasts of the field had shade under it, and the birds of heaven dwelt in its boughs, and all flesh was fed by it. ¹³ I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and behold, a watcher and a holy one came down from heaven; ¹⁴ he cried aloud, and said thus, 'Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: Let the beasts get away from under it, and the birds from his branches:

¹⁷ Your crowned are as the locusts, and your captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges on the cold day, but when the sun arises they flee away, and their place where they are is not known. ¹⁸ Your shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: Your nobles shall dwell in the dust: Your people are scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathers them.

⁶ For lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwelling places that are not their's.

¹¹ Then his mind shall change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing his power to his god."

¹⁶ And the ten horns which you saw upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

⁶ They shall be left together to the fowls of the mountains, and to the wild beasts of the earth: And the fowls shall summer on them, and all the wild beasts of the earth shall winter on them.

⁵ And I will leave you thrown into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers: You shall fall upon the open fields; you shall not be brought together, nor gathered: I have given you to the wild beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven for meat.

⁴ Then I will leave you upon the land, I will cast you forth on the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain on you, and I will fill the wild beasts of the whole earth with you.

¹⁷ Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, "Come and gather yourselves together to the supper of the great God; ¹⁸ that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses, and of those that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great."

¹¹ And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.

²¹ And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: So shall you put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

¹⁸ Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil on us, and on this city? Yet you bring more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.

⁹ But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth. ¹⁰ They shall fall by the sword: They shall be a portion for foxes.

⁷ But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes."

²⁰ when I shall bring you down with those who descend into the pit, with the people of old time, and shall set you in the low parts of the earth, in places desolate of old, with those who go down to the pit, that you be not inhabited; and I shall set glory in the land of the living;

¹⁸ "Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, to the lower parts of the earth, with those who go down into the pit. ¹⁹ 'Whom do you pass in beauty? Go down, and be laid with the uncircumcised.' ²⁰ They shall fall in the midst of those who are slain by the sword: She is delivered to the sword: Draw her and all her multitudes. ²¹ The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with those who help him: 'they have gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword.' ²² Asshur is there and all her company: His graves are about him: All of them slain, fallen by the sword: ²³ Whose graves are set in the sides of the pit, and her company is all around her grave: All of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living. ²⁴ There is Elam and all her multitude around her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which have gone down uncircumcised into the lower parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet they have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit. ²⁵ They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude: Her graves are all around him: All of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword: Though their terror was caused in the land of the living, yet they have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit: He is put in the midst of those who are slain. ²⁶ There is Meshech, Tubal, and all her multitude: Her graves are all around him: All of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, though they caused their terror in the land of the living. ²⁷ And they shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the uncircumcised, who have gone down to hell with their weapons of war: And they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be on their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living. ²⁸ Yes, you shall be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shall lie with those who are slain with the sword. ²⁹ There is Edom, her kings, and all her princes, which with their might are laid by those who were slain by the sword: They shall lie with the uncircumcised, and with those who go down to the pit. ³⁰ There are the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, who have gone down with the slain; with their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword, and bear their shame with those who go down to the pit. ³¹ Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, even Pharaoh and all his army slain by the sword", said the Lord GOD. ³² "For I have caused My terror in the land of the living: And he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised with those who are slain with the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude", said the Lord GOD.

³² And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the wild beasts of the field: They shall make you to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He wills."

¹¹ Now all these things happened to them as examples: And they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world has come.

²⁷ And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment:

⁶ and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example to those that afterward would live ungodly;

⁸ But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: Yet they shall flee away. "Stand, stand", they shall cry; but none shall look back. ⁹ Take the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold, all of you: For there is no end of the storehouse and glory proceeding from all the pleasant furnishings. ¹⁰ She is empty, and void, and wasted: And the heart melts, and the knees smite together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness.

⁴ Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem shall be pleasant to the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

⁹ "And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, ¹⁰ standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.' ¹¹ And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buys their merchandise anymore:

¹⁸ and cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, 'What city is like this great city!' ¹⁹ And they cast dust on their heads, and cried out, weeping and wailing, saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea were made rich because of her costliness! For in one hour she is made desolate.

⁸ Yes, the fir trees rejoice at you, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, "Since you are laid down, no woodcutter has come up against us."

¹⁵ Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

²² Yet, behold, there shall be left a remnant in it that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: Behold, they shall come forth to you, and you shall see their way and their doings: And you shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought on it.

¹⁰ By reason of the abundance of his horses their dust shall cover you: Your walls shall shake at the noise of the horsemen, and of the wheels, and of the chariots, when he shall enter into your gates, as men enter into a city in which is made a breach.

¹⁵ Thus says the Lord GOD to Tyrus; 'Shall not the isles shake at the sound of your fall, when the wounded cry, when the slaughter is made in the midst of you?

²⁸ The suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of your pilots.

⁹ I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: So that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.'

³ The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: The chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be shaken terribly.

¹⁷ For the violence of Lebanon shall cover you, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell in it.

⁷ and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: And I will fill this house with glory', says the LORD of hosts.

²⁶ Whose voice then shook the earth: But now He has promised, saying, "Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven." ²⁷ Now this phrase, "Yet once more", signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, likewise of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

¹³ And the same hour there was a strong earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell, and in the earthquake seven thousand men were slain: And the remnant were frightened, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

⁹ "And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, ¹⁰ standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.' ¹¹ And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buys their merchandise anymore: ¹² The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all fragrant wood, and all sorts of ivory vessels, and all sorts of most precious wood vessels, and of brass, and iron, and marble, ¹³ and cinnamon, and incense, and fragrant ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. ¹⁴ And the fruits that your soul lusted after have departed from you, and all things which were dainty and gorgeous have departed from you, and you shall find them no more at all. ¹⁵ The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, ¹⁶ and saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls! ¹⁷ For in one hour so many riches have come to naught.' And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, ¹⁸ and cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, 'What city is like this great city!' ¹⁹ And they cast dust on their heads, and cried out, weeping and wailing, saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea were made rich because of her costliness! For in one hour she is made desolate. ²⁰ Rejoice over her, you heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets; for God has avenged you on her." ²¹ And a mighty angel took up a stone like a large millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, "Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. ²² And the voice of harpists, musicians, pipers, and trumpeters shall not be heard any more at all in you; and no craftsman, of whatever craft he is, shall be found anymore in you; and the sound of a millstone shall not be heard any more at all in you; ²³ and the light of a candle shall not shine any more at all in you; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall not be heard any more at all in you: For your merchants were the great men of the earth; for by your sorceries all nations were deceived. ²⁴ And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth."

¹⁷ After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next to him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part. ¹⁸ After him repaired their brothers, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah.

¹⁷ The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

⁹ Hell from beneath is moved for you to meet you at your coming: It stirs up the dead for you, even all the chief ones of the earth; it has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

²⁰ The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, "Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen."

⁶ Thus says the LORD; "Those also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: From the tower of Syene they shall fall in it by the sword", says the Lord GOD. ⁷ "And they shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted. ⁸ And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and when all her helpers shall be destroyed.

²¹ "Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and lo, it shall not be bound up to be healed, to put a roller to bind it, to make it strong to hold the sword. ²² Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; 'Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand. ²³ And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries. ²⁴ And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put My sword in his hand: But I will break Pharaoh's arms, and he shall groan before him with the groanings of a deadly wounded man. ²⁵ But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall put My sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall stretch it out upon the land of Egypt.

³ Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of a high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs.

³² But when it is sown, it grows up, and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches; so that the birds of the air may lodge under its shadow."

²⁶ And David spoke to the men that stood by him, saying, "What shall be done to the man that kills this Philistine, and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?"

³⁶ Your servant slew both the lion and the bear: And this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God."

²⁰ Tell it not in Gath, do not publish it in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.

²² And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD: This is that king Ahaz.

⁷ Lo, this is the man that did not make God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

²⁵ "Behold, the days come", said the LORD, "that I will punish all those who are circumcised with the uncircumcised; ²⁶ egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all who are in the utmost corners, who dwell in the wilderness: For all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart."

¹⁰ You shall die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: For I have spoken it", said the Lord GOD.' "

² "Son of man, speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude; 'Whom are you like in your greatness?

¹⁰ Yes, I will make many people amazed at you, and their kings shall be horribly afraid for you, when I shall brandish My sword before them; and they shall tremble at every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of your fall.'

¹⁹ 'Whom do you pass in beauty? Go down, and be laid with the uncircumcised.'

²¹ The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with those who help him: 'they have gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword.'

¹⁹ When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes, and takes away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside.

²⁶ And as they ate, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." ²⁷ Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you; ²⁸ for this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

¹⁴ Therefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
