¹ "And you, son of man, take a sharp knife, take a barber's razor, and cause it to pass on your head and on your beard: Then take balances to weigh and divide the hair. ² You shall burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: And you shall take a third part, and smite around it with a knife: And a third part you shall scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them. ³ You shall also take a few of them in number, and bind them in your skirts. ⁴ Then take of them again, and cast them into the middle of the fire, and burn them in the fire; from which a fire shall come forth into all the house of Israel. ⁵ Thus says the Lord GOD; 'This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are around her. ⁶ And she has changed My judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and My statutes more than the countries that are around her: For they have refused My judgments and My statutes, they have not walked in them.' ⁷ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; 'Because you multiplied more than the nations that are around you, and have not walked in My statutes, neither have kept My judgments, neither have done according to the judgments of the nations that are around you;' ⁸ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; 'Behold, I, even I, am against you, and will execute judgments in the midst of you in the sight of the nations. ⁹ And I will do in you that which I have not done, and the like of which I will not do any more, because of all your abominations. ¹⁰ Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of you, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments in you, and I will scatter the whole remnant of you into all the winds. ¹¹ Therefore, as I live', said the Lord GOD; 'Surely, because you have defiled My sanctuary with all your detestable things, and with all your abominations, therefore I will also diminish you; neither shall My eye spare, neither will I have any pity. ¹² A third part of you shall die with the pestilence, and they shall be consumed with famine in the midst of you: And a third part shall fall by the sword all around you; and I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them. ¹³ Thus shall My anger be accomplished, and I will cause My fury to rest on them, and I will be comforted: And they shall know that I the LORD have spoken it in My zeal, when I have accomplished My fury in them. ¹⁴ Moreover I will make you waste, and a reproach among the nations that are around you, in the sight of all who pass by. ¹⁵ So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment to the nations that are around you, when I shall execute judgments in you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the LORD have spoken it. ¹⁶ When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send to destroy you: And I will increase the famine on you, and will break your staff of bread: ¹⁷ So too I will send on you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave you: And pestilence and blood shall pass through you; and I will bring the sword on you. I the LORD have spoken it.' "

⁵ They shall not make baldness on their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

²⁰ On the same day the Lord shall shave with a razor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: And it shall also consume the beard.

²⁰ Neither shall they shave their heads, nor allow their hair to grow long; they shall only trim their heads.

²⁷ TEKEL; you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting.

³³ And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: And your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.

¹⁶ I will also scatter them among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: And I will send a sword after them, until I have consumed them."

²¹ For death has come up into our windows, and has entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from outside, and the young men from the streets. ²² Speak, Thus says the LORD, "Even the carcasses of men shall fall as dung on the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, and none shall gather them."

² And it shall come to pass, if they say to you, 'Where shall we go forth?' then you shall tell them, 'Thus says the LORD; "Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity." '

¹⁰ And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, until they are consumed from off the land that I gave to them and to their fathers.' "

² "Thus says the LORD, 'He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: But he who goes forth to the Chaldeans shall live; for he shall have his life for a prey, and shall live.'

¹ "You also, son of man, take to yourself a tile, and lay it before you, and portray on it the city, even Jerusalem: ² And lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and cast a mount against it; set the camp also against it, and set battering rams against it on every side. ³ Moreover take to yourself an iron pan, and set it as a wall of iron between you and the city: And set your face against it, and it shall be besieged, and you shall lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel. ⁴ Lie also on your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel on it: According to the number of the days that you shall lie on it you shall bear their iniquity. ⁵ For I have laid on you the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: So shall you bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. ⁶ And when you have accomplished them, lie again on your right side, and you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed you each day for a year. ⁷ Therefore you shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, and your arm shall be uncovered, and you shall prophesy against it. ⁸ And behold, I will lay bands on you, and you shall not turn from one side to another, until you have ended the days of your siege.

¹² A third part of you shall die with the pestilence, and they shall be consumed with famine in the midst of you: And a third part shall fall by the sword all around you; and I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.

¹⁴ And I will scatter toward every wind all who are about him to help him, and all his bands; and I will draw out the sword after them.

² Though they dig into hell, there My hand shall take them; though they climb up to heaven, there I will bring them down: ³ And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out from there; and though they hide from My sight in the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and he shall bite them:

¹² But the captain of the guard left of the door of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and farmers.

¹⁰ But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

⁶ Then Jeremiah went to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelled with him among the people who were left in the land.

¹⁶ But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left certain of the poor of the land for vinedressers and for farmers.

¹⁴ Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the pathway which leads to life, and there are few that find it.

²³ Then one said to Him, "Lord, are there few who are saved?" And He said to them, ²⁴ "Strive to enter in at the narrow gate: For many, I say to you, Will seek to enter in, and will not be able.

¹⁸ And "if the righteous are scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?"

²⁵ But it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, came, and ten men with him, and smote Gedaliah, that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldeans that were with him at Mizpah.

⁴ Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: Lest My fury come forth like fire, and burn so that no one can quench it, because of the evil of your doings."

¹ Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the royal seed, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they ate bread together in Mizpah. ² Then Ishmael the son of Nethaniah arose, and the ten men who were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land. ³ Ishmael also slew all the Jews who were with him, even with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans who were found there, and the men of war. ⁴ And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew it, ⁵ that there came certain men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even eighty men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD. ⁶ And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: And it came to pass, as he met them, he said to them, "Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam." ⁷ And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the middle of the pit, he, and the men who were with him. ⁸ But ten men were found among them who said to Ishmael, "Do not slay us: For we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey." So he declined, and did not slay them among their brothers. ⁹ Now the pit into which Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, it was the one which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel: And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with those who were slain. ¹⁰ Then Ishmael carried away captive all the residue of the people who were in Mizpah, even the king's daughters, and all the people who remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam: And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the Ammonites. ¹¹ But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done, ¹² then they took all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon. ¹³ Now it came to pass, that when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, then they were glad. ¹⁴ So all the people who Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah cast about and returned, and went to Johanan the son of Kareah. ¹⁵ But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites. ¹⁶ Then Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, took all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon: ¹⁷ And they departed, and dwelled in the habitation of Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to go enter into Egypt, ¹⁸ because of the Chaldeans: For they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor in the land.

⁴⁵ "They who fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: But a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the middle of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.

³⁰ In the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred and forty-five persons: All the persons were four thousand six hundred.

⁶ Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, "Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

⁶ For thus has the LORD of hosts said, "Hew down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: This is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

¹ "You also, son of man, take to yourself a tile, and lay it before you, and portray on it the city, even Jerusalem:

¹⁴ And your renown went forth among the heathen for your beauty: For it was perfect through My splendor, which I had put on you", said the Lord GOD.

⁷ And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that does not tarry on account of man, nor wait for the sons of men.

¹⁴ You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

¹⁹ And He took bread, gave thanks, and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you: Do this in remembrance of Me." ²⁰ Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you.

⁴ and all drank the same spiritual drink: For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: And that Rock was Christ.

¹⁵ But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: You are waxen fat, you are grown thick, you are covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. ¹⁶ They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger. ¹⁷ They sacrificed to devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. ¹⁸ Of the Rock that begat you you are unmindful, and have forgotten God that formed you. ¹⁹ And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. ²⁰ And he said, "I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: For they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. ²¹ They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: And I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

⁸ and walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made. ⁹ And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. ¹⁰ And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree: ¹¹ And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and worked wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger: ¹² For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said to them, "You shall not do this thing. ¹³ Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, "Turn from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. ¹⁴ Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God. ¹⁵ And they rejected his statutes, and His covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were all around them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them. ¹⁶ And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. ¹⁷ And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. ¹⁸ Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: There was none left but the tribe of Judah only. ¹⁹ Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made. ²⁰ And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

¹⁶ But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and did not hearken to your commandments, ¹⁷ and refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not.

¹⁰ They did not keep the covenant of God, and refused to walk in His law;

²⁰ Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eats grass.

³ O LORD, are not your eyes upon the truth? You have stricken them, but they have not grieved; You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: They have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

⁵ Why then is this people of Jerusalem slid back by a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.

⁶ Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me", said the LORD.

¹⁰ They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear My words; and they went after other gods to serve them: The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken My covenant which I made with their fathers."

⁴⁷ Yet you have not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations: But, as if that were a very little thing, you were corrupted more than they in all your ways. ⁴⁸ As I live", said the Lord GOD, "Sodom your sister has not done, she nor her daughters, as you have done, you and your daughters.

⁵¹ Neither has Samaria committed half of your sins; but you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters in all your abominations which you have done.

¹¹ But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

²³ and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made in likeness to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. ²⁴ Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: ²⁵ Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

¹ It is commonly reported that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not even named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

⁴ For there are certain men that crept in unexpectedly, who evidently were ordained to this condemnation a long while ago, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ But they did not hearken: And Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel. ¹⁰ And the LORD spoke by his servants the prophets, saying, ¹¹ because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations, and has done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols:

⁹ So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel.

¹⁰ For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send to Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there is such a thing. ¹¹ Has a nation changed their gods, which are not yet gods? But My people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.

¹¹ Therefore, as I live', said the Lord GOD; 'Surely, because you have defiled My sanctuary with all your detestable things, and with all your abominations, therefore I will also diminish you; neither shall My eye spare, neither will I have any pity.

⁵⁴ That you may bear your own shame, and may be confounded in all that you have done, in that you are a comfort to them.

¹⁷ And I will set my face against you, and you shall be slain before your enemies: Those that hate you shall reign over you; and you shall flee when none pursues you. ¹⁸ And if you will not yet for all this listen to me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. ¹⁹ And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: ²⁰ And your strength shall be spent in vain: For your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. ²¹ And if you walk contrary to me, and will not listen to me; I will bring seven times more plagues on you according to your sins. ²² I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your domestic beasts, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate. ²³ And if you will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary to me; ²⁴ then will I also walk contrary to you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins. ²⁵ And I will bring a sword on you, that shall avenge the quarrel of My covenant: And when you are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. ²⁶ And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: And you shall eat, and not be satisfied. ²⁷ And if you will not for all this listen to me, but walk contrary to me; ²⁸ then I will walk contrary to you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. ²⁹ And you shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall you eat. ³⁰ And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcasses on the carcasses of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. ³¹ And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not smell the smell of your sweet odors. ³² And I will bring the land into desolation: And your enemies which dwell in it shall be astonished at it. ³³ And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: And your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. ³⁴ Then shall the land enjoy her Sabbaths, as long as it lies desolate, and you be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her Sabbaths. ³⁵ As long as it lies desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your Sabbaths, when you dwelled on it. ³⁶ And on them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursues. ³⁷ And they shall fall one on another, as it were before a sword, when none pursues: And you shall have no power to stand before your enemies. ³⁸ And you shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. ³⁹ And those that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them. ⁴⁰ If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary to me; ⁴¹ and that I also have walked contrary to them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: ⁴² Then will I remember My covenant with Jacob, and also My covenant with Isaac, and also My covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land. ⁴³ The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her Sabbaths, while she lies desolate without them: And they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: Because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred My statutes. ⁴⁴ And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break My covenant with them: For I am the LORD their God. ⁴⁵ But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD. ⁴⁶ These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

²⁰ The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie on him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.

²³ and that the whole land of it is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: ²⁴ Even all nations shall say, "Why has the LORD done thus to this land? What means the heat of this great anger? ²⁵ Then men shall say, "Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt: ²⁶ For they went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given to them: ²⁷ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring on it all the curses that are written in this book: ²⁸ And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

⁸ And at this house, which is high, everyone that passes by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, "Why has the LORD done thus to this land, and to this house? ⁹ And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold on other gods, and have worshiped them, and served them: Therefore has the LORD brought on them all this evil.

⁵ And I Myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.

¹³ Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain", said the LORD; "which say, 'Who shall come down against us? Or who shall enter into our habitations?'

⁸ And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbor, 'Why has the LORD done thus to this great city?' ⁹ Then they shall answer, 'Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshiped other gods, and served them.' "

⁹ And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them.

⁷ All who found them have devoured them: And their adversaries said, 'We do not offend, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.'

⁵ The LORD was as an enemy: He has swallowed up Israel, He has swallowed up all her palaces: He has destroyed His strongholds, and has increased in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.

¹⁵ All who pass by clap their hands at you; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, "Is this the city that men call 'The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth'?" ¹⁶ All your enemies have opened their mouth against you: They hiss and gnash the teeth: They say, "We have swallowed her up: Certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it." ¹⁷ The LORD has done that which He had devised; He has fulfilled His word that He had commanded in the days of old: He has thrown down, and has not pitied: And He has caused your enemy to rejoice over you, He has set up the horn of your adversaries.

³ Surely He is turned against me; He turns his hand against me all the day long.

⁹ "And I will bring you out of the midst of it, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.

⁷ And I will set My face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and you shall know that I am the LORD, when I set My face against them.

³ and say to the land of Israel, 'Thus says the LORD; "Behold, I am against you, and will draw forth My sword out of his sheath, and will cut off the righteous and the wicked from you.

² "Son of man, set your face against the Ammonites, and prophesy against them; ³ and say to the Ammonites, 'Hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus says the Lord GOD; "Because you said, 'Aha', against My sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity; ⁴ behold, therefore I will deliver you to the men of the east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in you, and make their dwellings in you: They shall eat your fruit, and they shall drink your milk. ⁵ And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the Ammonites a couching place for flocks: And you shall know that I am the LORD." ⁶ For thus says the Lord GOD; "Because you have clapped your hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced in heart with all your spite against the land of Israel;

² "Son of man, because Tyrus has said against Jerusalem, 'Aha, she who was the gates of the people is broken: She has turned to me: I shall be replenished, now she is laid waste:' ³ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; 'Behold, I am against you, O Tyrus, and will cause many nations to come up against you, as the sea causes his waves to come up.

²² and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "Behold, I am against you, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of you: And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.

⁶ And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the LORD, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel. ⁷ When they took hold of you by your hand, you broke, and rend all their shoulder: And when they leaned upon you, you broke, and made all their loins to be at a stand."

³ and say to it, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "Behold, O Mount Seir, I am against you, and I will stretch out My hand against you, and I will make you most desolate.

¹⁰ Because you have said, 'These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it'; although the LORD was there: ¹¹ Therefore, as I live", said the Lord GOD, "I will even do according to your anger, and according to your envy which you have used against them out of your hatred; and I will make Myself known among them, when I have judged you. ¹² And you shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all your blasphemies which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, 'They are laid desolate, they are given to us to consume.' ¹³ Thus with your mouth you have boasted against Me, and have multiplied your words against Me: I have heard them." ¹⁴ Thus says the Lord GOD; "When the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate. ¹⁵ As you rejoiced at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so I will do to you: You shall be desolate, O Mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: And they shall know that I am the LORD." ' "

¹ "Therefore, you son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

² "For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses pillaged, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city." ³ Then the LORD shall go forth, and fight against those nations, as when He fought in the day of battle.

⁷ But when the king heard about it, he was wroth: And he sent forth his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

⁶ For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown in a moment, and no hands stayed on her.

⁹ They who are slain with the sword are better than they who are slain with hunger: For these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.

¹² And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us, and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: For under the whole heaven it has not been done as has been done upon Jerusalem.

² "I have known only you of all the families of the earth: Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

²¹ For then shall be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.

²⁹ And you shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall you eat.

²⁷ And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and you shall be left few in number among the heathen, where the LORD shall lead you.

⁵³ And you shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, which the LORD your God has given you, in the siege, and in the narrow place, with which your enemies shall distress you: ⁵⁴ So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave: ⁵⁵ So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: Because he has nothing left him in the siege, and in the narrow place, with which your enemies shall distress you in all your gates. ⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, ⁵⁷ and toward her young one that comes out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: For she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and narrow place, with which your enemy shall distress you in your gates.

⁶⁴ And the LORD shall scatter you among all people, from the one end of the earth even to the other; and there you shall serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known, even wood and stone.

²⁶ I said, "I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:

²⁹ So we boiled my son, and ate him: And I said to her on the next day, Give your son, that we may eat him: And she has hid her son.

⁸ Remember, I beseech you, the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, "If you transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:

¹¹ You have given us like sheep that are appointed for meat; and have scattered us among the heathen.

²⁰ And he shall snatch on the right hand side, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand side, and they shall not be satisfied: Every man shall eat the flesh of his own arm:

²⁶ And I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: And all flesh shall know that I the LORD am your Savior and your Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob."

⁹ And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and everyone shall eat the flesh of his friend in the siege and narrow place, with which their enemies, and they who seek their lives, shall straiten them.

¹² And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: They shall die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: And they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.

¹⁷ Israel is as scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: First the king of Assyria has devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones."

²⁰ Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom You have done this. Shall the women eat their offspring, and children a span long? Shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?

¹⁰ The hands of the pitiful women have boiled their own children: They were their food in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

² You shall burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: And you shall take a third part, and smite around it with a knife: And a third part you shall scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them.

⁸ Yet I will leave a remnant, that you may have some who shall escape the sword among the nations, when you shall be scattered through the countries.

²³ I also lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;

¹⁵ And I will scatter you among the heathen, and disperse you in the countries, and will consume your filthiness out of you.

¹⁹ And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: I judged them according to their way and according to their doings.

⁹ "For lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet the smallest grain shall not fall upon the earth.sift: In Hebrew, cause to movegrain: In Hebrew, stone

⁶ "Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north", says the LORD: "For I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven", says the LORD.

¹⁴ "But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they did not know. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: For they laid the pleasant land desolate."

²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: And Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

²⁸ Say to them, As truly as I live", says the LORD, as you have spoken in my ears, so will I do to you: ²⁹ Your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward which have murmured against me. ³⁰ Doubtless you shall not come into the land, concerning which I swore to make you dwell in it, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. ³¹ But your little ones, which you said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which you have despised. ³² But as for you, your carcasses, they shall fall in this wilderness. ³³ And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcasses be wasted in the wilderness. ³⁴ After the number of the days in which you searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall you bear your iniquities, even forty years, and you shall know my breach of promise. ³⁵ I the LORD have said, "I will surely do it to all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: In this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

²⁵ The graven images of their gods shall you burn with fire: You shall not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it to you, lest you be snared in it: For it is an abomination to the LORD your God. ²⁶ Neither shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be a cursed thing like it: But you shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

⁴ And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, "In Jerusalem will I put my name.

⁷ And he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name forever:

¹² And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, the king beat those down, and broke them down from there, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.

⁴ Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, "In Jerusalem shall my name be forever.

⁷ And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name forever:

¹⁴ Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.

¹¹ To whom I swore in My wrath that they should not enter into My rest."

³⁹ Again, they are diminished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.

⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know; ¹⁰ and come and stand before Me in this house, which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations?' ¹¹ Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it", said the LORD.

²⁴ O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing.

¹⁸ And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled My land, they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable and abominable things."

³⁴ But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by My name, to defile it.

⁴ However, I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, "Oh, do not do this abominable thing that I hate."

²¹ The young and the old lie on the ground in the streets: My virgins and my young men are fallen by the sword; you have slain them in the day of Your anger; You have killed, and not pitied.

⁴ And My eye shall not spare you, neither will I have pity: But I will recompense your ways upon you, and your abominations shall be in the midst of you: And you shall know that I am the LORD.'

⁹ And My eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense you according to your ways and your abominations that are in the midst of you; and you shall know that I am the LORD who smites.

²⁰ As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: But they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable things in that place: Therefore have I set it far from them.

⁵ Then He said to me, "Son of man, now lift up your eyes toward the way to the north." So I lifted up my eyes toward the way to the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar, this image of jealousy was in the entrance. ⁶ He said furthermore to me, "Son of man, see what they do? Even the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here, that I should go far away from My sanctuary? But turn yet again, and you shall see greater abominations."

¹⁶ And He brought me into the inner court of the LORD's house, and behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshiped the sun toward the east.

¹⁸ Therefore I will also deal in fury: My eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: And though they cry in My ears with a loud voice, yet I will not hear them."

⁵ And to the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city, and smite: Do not let your eye spare, neither have pity:

¹⁰ And as for Me also, My eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head."

¹⁸ And they shall come there, and they shall take away all the detestable things of it and all its abominations from there.

²¹ But as for those whose heart walks after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way on their own heads", said the Lord GOD.'

²⁸ For thus says the Lord GOD; "Behold, I will deliver you into the hand of those who you hate, into the hand of those from whom your mind is alienated:

¹⁴ I the LORD have spoken it: It shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to your ways, and according to your doings, they shall judge you", said the Lord GOD.

¹⁵ It shall be the lowest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself above the nations any more: For I will diminish them, that they shall no longer rule over the nations.

⁷ in that you have brought into My sanctuary strangers, uncircumcised in heart, and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in My sanctuary, to pollute it, even My house, when you offer My bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken My covenant because of all your abominations.

⁷ The LORD has sworn by the excellency of Jacob, "Surely I will never forget any of their works.

⁶ For I will not pity the inhabitants of the land any more", says the LORD: "But lo, I will deliver the men, every one, into his neighbor's hand, and into the hand of his king: And they shall smite the land, and I will not deliver them out of their hand."

¹⁷ "And they shall be Mine", says the LORD of hosts, "in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son that serves him."

³² He that did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not together with Him also freely give us all things?

¹² Now if the fall of them is the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fullness?

²¹ For if God did not spare the natural branches, take heed lest He also not spare you.

¹³ For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by none greater, He swore by Himself,

⁴ For if God did not spare the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; ⁵ and did not spare the old world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

⁶⁵ And among these nations shall you find no ease, neither shall the sole of your foot have rest: But the LORD shall give you there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:

⁹ He who stays in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: But he who goes out, and falls to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be to him for a prey.

¹⁶ then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which you feared, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, of which you were afraid, shall follow close after you there in Egypt; and there you shall die. ¹⁷ So it shall be with all the men who set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: And none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring on them.'

²² Now therefore know certainly that you shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place where you desire to go and to sojourn."

¹⁰ and say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; "Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will set his throne on these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them. ¹¹ And when he comes, he shall smite the land of Egypt, and deliver whoever is for death to death; and whoever is for captivity to captivity; and whoever is for the sword to the sword.

²⁷ Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: And all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.

¹⁰ Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of you, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments in you, and I will scatter the whole remnant of you into all the winds.

¹⁷ So too I will send on you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave you: And pestilence and blood shall pass through you; and I will bring the sword on you. I the LORD have spoken it.' "

¹¹ Thus says the Lord GOD; "Smite with your hand, and stamp with your foot, and say, 'Alas for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel! For they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence. ¹² He who is far off shall die of the pestilence; and he who is near shall fall by the sword; and he who remains and is besieged shall die by the famine: Thus will I accomplish my fury on them.

⁴ And though they go into captivity before their enemies, I will command the sword in that place, and it shall slay them: And I will set My eyes upon them for evil, and not for good."

⁷ "Awake, O sword, against My shepherd, and against the man that is My fellow", says the LORD of hosts: "Smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: And I will turn My hand upon the little ones. ⁸ And it shall come to pass, that in all the land", says the LORD, "two-thirds in it shall be cut off and die; but one-third shall be left in the land. ⁹ And I will bring the one-third through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will prove them through testing as gold is proved: They shall call on My name, and I will hear them: I will say, 'It is My people': And they shall say, 'The LORD is my God.' "

³⁶ For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.

²¹ How has the faithful city become a harlot! It was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

²⁴ Therefore said the LORD, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, "Ah, I will rid Myself of My adversaries, and avenge Myself of My enemies:

⁷ Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from now on even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

¹⁷ For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on His head; and He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.

¹² And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation', said the LORD, 'for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.

¹¹ The LORD has accomplished His fury; He has poured out His fierce anger, and has kindled a fire in Zion, and it has devoured its foundations.

²² The punishment of your iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; He will no longer carry you away into captivity:Hhe will visit your iniquity, O daughter of Edom; He will discover your sins.

¹⁰ And they shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this evil to them."

¹² He who is far off shall die of the pestilence; and he who is near shall fall by the sword; and he who remains and is besieged shall die by the famine: Thus will I accomplish my fury on them.

⁸ Shortly now I will pour out My fury on you, and accomplish My anger upon you: And I will judge you according to your ways, and will recompense you for all your abominations.

¹⁵ Thus I will accomplish My wrath upon the wall, and on those who have daubed it with untempered mortar, and will say to you, 'The wall is no more, neither are they who daubed it';

⁴² So I will make My fury toward you to rest, and My jealousy shall depart from you, and I will be quiet, and will no longer be angry.

⁶³ That you may remember, and be confounded, and never open your mouth any more because of your shame, when I am pacified toward you for all that you have done", said the Lord GOD.' "

⁸ But they rebelled against Me, and would not listen to Me: Every man did not cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: Then I said, 'I will pour out My fury upon them, to accomplish My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

²¹ Notwithstanding the children rebelled against Me: They did not walk in My statutes, neither kept My judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall live in and by them; they polluted My Sabbaths: Then I said, 'I will pour out My fury on them, to accomplish My anger against them in the wilderness.'

¹⁷ I will also strike My hands together, and I will cause My fury to rest: I the LORD have said it."

²⁵ And I will set My jealousy against you, and they shall deal furiously with you: They shall take away your nose and your ears; and your remnant shall fall by the sword: They shall take your sons and your daughters; and your residue shall be devoured by the fire.

¹³ In your filthiness is lewdness: Because I have purged you, and you were not purged, you shall not be purged from your filthiness any more, until I have caused My fury to rest on you.

⁵ therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "Surely in the fire of My jealousy I have spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed My land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with spiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey." ' ⁶ Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and in My fury, because you have borne the shame of the heathen:"

¹⁸ And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel", said the Lord GOD, "that My fury shall come up in My face. ¹⁹ For in My jealousy and in the fire of My wrath I have spoken, 'Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;

² in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by books the number of the years, which came by the Word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet, that He would fulfill seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

³⁶ And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper until the indignation is accomplished: For that which is determined shall be done.

⁸ Then he cried upon me, and spoke to me, saying, "Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted My Spirit in the north country."

³¹ And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not smell the smell of your sweet odors. ³² And I will bring the land into desolation: And your enemies which dwell in it shall be astonished at it.

³⁷ And you shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations where the LORD shall lead you.

²⁰ then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations. ²¹ And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to everyone that passes by it; so that he shall say, "Why has the LORD done thus to this land, and to this house?

¹⁷ Then I said to them, "You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire: Come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.

³ Lift up Your feet to the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy has wickedly done in the sanctuary. ⁴ Your enemies roar in the midst of Your congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs. ⁵ A man was famous accordingly as he lifted up axes upon the thick trees. ⁶ But now they break down the carved work of it at once with axes and hammers. ⁷ They have cast fire into Your sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of Your name to the ground. ⁸ They said in their hearts, "Let us destroy them together": They have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land. ⁹ We do not see our signs: There is no longer any prophet: Neither is there among us anyone who knows how long. ¹⁰ O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme Your name forever?

¹ O God, the heathen have come into your inheritance; they have defiled your holy temple; they have laid Jerusalem in heaps. ² They have given the dead bodies of Your servants to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of your saints to the wild beasts of the earth. ³ They have shed their blood like water all around Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them. ⁴ We are become a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and derision to those that are all around us.

¹⁰ Your holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. ¹¹ Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised You, is burned up with fire: And all our pleasant things are laid waste.

⁸ And I will make this city desolate, and a hissing; everyone who passes by it shall be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues.

⁹ And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them. ¹⁰ And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, until they are consumed from off the land that I gave to them and to their fathers.' "

¹⁸ For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; 'As My anger and My fury has been poured forth on the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall My fury be poured forth on you, when you shall enter into Egypt: And you shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more.'

⁴ The roads of Zion mourn, because no one comes to the solemn feasts: All her gates are desolate: Her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.

⁸ Jerusalem has grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: All who honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: Yes, she sighs, and turns backward.

¹⁸ Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk on it.

⁴ You have become guilty in your blood that you have shed; and have defiled yourself in your idols which you have made; and you have caused your days to draw near, and have come to the full measure of your years: Therefore I have made you a reproach to the heathen, and a mocking to all countries.

¹² Therefore for your sake Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.

⁷ Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:

⁴ We are become a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and derision to those that are all around us.

⁹ With my soul I have desired You in the night; yes, with my spirit within me I will seek You early: For when Your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

¹⁵ For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with His chariots like a whirlwind, to render His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire. ¹⁶ For by fire and by His sword the LORD will plead with all flesh: And the slain of the LORD shall be many.

¹⁷ And I will execute great vengeance on them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay My vengeance on them." ' "

² God is jealous, and the LORD revenges; the LORD revenges, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on His adversaries, and He reserves wrath for His enemies.

¹¹ Now all these things happened to them as examples: And they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world has come.

²⁶ And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: And you shall eat, and not be satisfied.

²³ I will heap mischiefs on them; I will spend my arrows on them. ²⁴ They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts on them, with the poison of dragons, of the dust.

²⁵ And there was a great famine in Samaria: And behold, they besieged it, until an ass's head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.

¹³ He has also prepared for Himself the instruments of death; He ordains His arrows against the persecutors.

⁵ You shall not be afraid on account of the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; ⁶ nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that lays waste at noonday. ⁷ A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.

¹ For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, does take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the rod and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water.

¹² He has bent His bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.

¹⁶ Moreover He said to me, "Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: And they shall eat bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment:

¹³ "Son of man, when the land sins against Me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out My hand upon it, and will break the staff of its breads, and will send famine on it, and will cut off man and beast from it:

²⁹ I will not drive them out from before you in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the wild beast of the field multiply against you.

²² I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your domestic beasts, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate.

²⁴ They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts on them, with the poison of dragons, of the dust.

²⁵ And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: Therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.

³ And I will appoint over them four kinds", said the LORD: "the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the wild beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.

¹² A third part of you shall die with the pestilence, and they shall be consumed with famine in the midst of you: And a third part shall fall by the sword all around you; and I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them. ¹³ Thus shall My anger be accomplished, and I will cause My fury to rest on them, and I will be comforted: And they shall know that I the LORD have spoken it in My zeal, when I have accomplished My fury in them.

¹⁵ So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment to the nations that are around you, when I shall execute judgments in you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the LORD have spoken it.

¹⁵ "If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it is desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:

¹⁹ Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out My fury on it in blood, to cut off man and beast from it:

²¹ For thus says the Lord GOD; "How much more when I send My four sore judgments on Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off man and beast from it?

²¹ And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and those who remain shall be scattered toward all winds: And you shall know that I the LORD have spoken it."

²⁴ And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it."

³² You shall be for fuel to the fire; your blood shall be in the midst of the land; you shall be no longer remembered: For I the LORD have spoken it.' "

¹⁴ Can your heart endure, or can your hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with you? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it.

⁴⁷ And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.

¹⁴ And I will make you like the top of a rock: You shall be a place to spread nets on; you shall be built no more: For I the LORD have spoken it', said the Lord GOD.

¹² And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: And I will make the land waste, and all that is in it, by the hand of strangers: I the LORD have spoken it."

²⁷ Thus say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "As I live, surely those who are in the wastes shall fall by the sword, and he who is in the open field I will give to the beasts to be devoured, and they who are in the forts and in the caves shall die of the pestilence.

²⁵ And I will make a covenant of peace with them, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: And they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. ²⁶ And I will make them and the places around My hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing. ²⁷ And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those who served themselves of them. ²⁸ And they shall no longer be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the wild beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid.

¹⁴ and shall put My spirit in you, and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: Then you shall know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it", said the LORD.' "

²² And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away: But My words shall not pass away.
