⁶ And he believed in the LORD; and He counted it to him for righteousness.

³¹ And that was counted to him for righteousness to all generations forevermore.

³ For what does the scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." ⁴ Now to him who works, the reward is not accounted as grace, but as debt. ⁵ But to him that does not work, but believes on Him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted as righteousness. ⁶ Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, to whom God imputes righteousness without works,

⁹ Does this blessedness then come upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham as righteousness.

¹¹ And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while still uncircumcised: That he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed to them also:

²⁰ He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; ²¹ and being fully persuaded that what He had promised, He was able also to perform. ²² And therefore "it was imputed to him as righteousness." ²³ Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; ²⁴ but for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, to us, if we believe upon Him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; ²⁵ Who was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification.

¹⁹ Know that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them; and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

⁶ Even as Abraham "believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." ⁷ Therefore, know that those who are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. ⁸ And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you shall all nations be blessed." ⁹ So then those who are of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. ¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: For it is written, "Cursed is everyone that does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them." ¹¹ But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident: For, "The just shall live by faith." ¹² And the law is not of faith: But, "The man who does them shall live in them." ¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: For it is written, "Cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree": ¹⁴ That the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

⁸ By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out into a place which he should afterwards receive as an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.

²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him as righteousness": And he was called the Friend of God.
