⁷ Now therefore, restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for you, and you shall live: And if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you, and all that are yours."

¹⁷ And Moses' father-in-law said to him, "The thing that you do is not good.

⁴ Then it shall be, because he has sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he has deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found,

⁷ And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD: And it shall be forgiven him for anything of all that he has done in trespassing in it.

³² And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained to Korah, and all their goods. ³³ They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed on them: And they perished from among the congregation.

⁵ And Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you to the LORD."

⁸ And the children of Israel said to Samuel, "Do not cease to cry out to the LORD our God for us, that He will save us out of the hand of the Philistines."

¹⁹ And all the people said to Samuel, "Pray for your servants to the LORD your God, that we do not die: For we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for us a king."

²³ Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: But I will teach you the good and the right way:

¹⁷ And David spoke to the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, "Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: But these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand, I implore You, be against me, and against my father's house."

⁶ And the king answered and said to the man of God, Entreat now the face of the LORD your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God sought the LORD, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

¹ And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, "Go, show yourself to Ahab; and I will send rain on the earth. ² And Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria. ³ And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly: ⁴ For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took a hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water). ⁵ And Ahab said to Obadiah, "Go into the land, to all fountains of water, and to all brooks: Peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts. ⁶ So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself. ⁷ And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: And he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, "Are you that my lord Elijah? ⁸ And he answered him, I am: Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here. ⁹ And he said, "What have I sinned, that you would deliver your servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me? ¹⁰ As the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom, where my lord has not sent to seek you: And when they said, "He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found you not. ¹¹ And now you say, "Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here. ¹² And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from you, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry you where I do not know; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find you, he shall slay me: But I your servant fear the LORD from my youth. ¹³ Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid a hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water? ¹⁴ And now you say, "Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here: And he shall slay me. ¹⁵ And Elijah said, "As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today. ¹⁶ So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: And Ahab went to meet Elijah. ¹⁷ And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, "Are you he that troubles Israel? ¹⁸ And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but you, and your father's house, in that you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and you have followed Baalim. ¹⁹ Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel to Mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table. ²⁰ So Ahab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together to Mount Carmel. ²¹ And Elijah came to all the people, and said, "How long halt you between two opinions? If the LORD be God, follow him: But if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. ²² Then said Elijah to the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men. ²³ Let them therefore give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: And I will dress the other bull, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: ²⁴ And call you on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: And the God that answers by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, "It is well spoken. ²⁵ And Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, Choose one bull for yourselves, and dress it first; for you are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under. ²⁶ And they took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, "O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped on the altar which was made. ²⁷ And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, "Cry aloud: For he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleeps, and must be awaked. ²⁸ And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out on them. ²⁹ And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded. ³⁰ And Elijah said to all the people, Come near to me. And all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down. ³¹ And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD came, saying, "Israel shall be your name: ³² And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: And he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. ³³ And he put the wood in order, and cut the bull in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, "Fill four barrels with water, and pour it upon the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. ³⁴ And he said, "Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, "Do it the third time. And they did it the third time. ³⁵ And the water ran all around the altar; and he filled the trench also with water. ³⁶ And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, "LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. ³⁷ Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that you are the LORD God, and that you have turned their heart back again. ³⁸ Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. ³⁹ And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: And they said, "The LORD, He is the God; the LORD, He is the God." ⁴⁰ And Elijah said to them, "Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: And Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there. ⁴¹ And Elijah said to Ahab, "Get you up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. ⁴² So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down on the earth, and put his face between his knees, ⁴³ and said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, "There is nothing. And he said, "Go again seven times. ⁴⁴ And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, "Behold, there rises a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, "Go up, say to Ahab, Prepare your chariot, and get yourself down that the rain stop you not. ⁴⁵ And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel. ⁴⁶ And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

¹¹ But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, "Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

² And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz. ³ And they said to him, "Thus said Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy; for the children have come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth. ⁴ It may be the LORD your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD your God has heard: Why lift up your prayer for the remnant that are left.

²² saying, Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

¹⁹ How much less to him that accepts not the persons of princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor? For they all are the work of his hands.

⁸ Therefore take to you now seven bulls and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: For him will I accept: Lest I deal with you after your folly, in that you have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.

¹⁴ The secret of the LORD is with those that fear Him; and He will show them His covenant.

⁹ The covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac; ¹⁰ and confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant: ¹¹ Saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:" ¹² When they were merely a few men in number; yes, very few, and strangers in it. ¹³ When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people; ¹⁴ he permitted no man to do them wrong: Yes, He reproved kings for their sakes; ¹⁵ saying, "Do not touch My anointed, and do My prophets no harm."

¹¹ Then the LORD said to me, "Do not pray for this people, for their good.

¹ Then the LORD said to me, "Though Moses and Samuel stood before Me, yet My mind could not be toward this people: Cast them out of My sight, and let them go forth.

¹⁸ But if they are prophets, and if the word of the LORD is with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, do not go to Babylon.'

¹⁸ When I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die'; and you do not give him warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.

⁸ When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you shall surely die'; if you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but I will require his blood at your hand.

¹⁴ Again, when I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die'; if he turns from his sin, and does that which is lawful and right; ¹⁵ if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he had robbed, walks in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die. ¹⁶ None of his sins that he has committed shall be mentioned to him: He has done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

⁴ He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself; but he that prophesies edifies the church.

¹ God, who at sundry times and in diverse manners spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

⁴ Marriage is honorable in everyone, and the bed undefiled: But whore-mongers and adulterers God will judge.

¹⁴ Is anyone sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: ¹⁵ And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. ¹⁶ Confess your faults to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

¹⁶ If any man sees his brother sin a sin which is not to death, he shall ask, and He shall give him life for those that sin not to death. There is a sin leading to death: I do not say that he should pray for it.

⁵ And if any man will hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth, and devours their enemies: And if any man will hurt them, he must be killed in this manner. ⁶ These have power to shut heaven, that it does not rain in the days of their prophecy: And have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
