⁷ And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: And the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had committed folly in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter; a thing which ought not to be done.

⁹ Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, "What have you done to us? And what have I offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done."

⁷ His sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters, and all his seed he brought with him into Egypt.

⁵ Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice, and keep My covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure to Me above all people: For all the earth is Mine: ⁶ And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."

² speak to the children of Israel, saying, "If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them:

¹³ And if the whole congregation of Israel sin through ignorance, and the thing be hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which should not be done, and are guilty;

²⁷ And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he does somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty;

²¹ Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: Because she has worked folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: So shall you put evil away from among you.

¹⁷ There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

¹⁵ And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he has: Because he has transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he has worked folly in Israel.

²² Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house all around, and beat at the door, and spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, "Bring forth the man that came into your house, that we may know him. ²³ And the man, the master of the house, went out to them, and said to them, "No, my brothers, no, I implore you, do not so wickedly; seeing that this man is come into my house, do not this folly. ²⁴ Behold, here is my daughter a maiden, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble you them, and do with them what seems good to you: But to this man do not so vile a thing. ²⁵ But the men would not listen to him: So the man took his concubine, and brought her forth to them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: And when the day began to spring, they let her go.

⁶ And I took my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel: For they have committed lewdness and folly in Israel.

¹² And she answered him, No, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: Do not you this folly. ¹³ And I, where shall I cause my shame to go? And as for you, you shall be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I implore you, speak to the king; for he will not withhold me from you.

²¹ But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth.

⁵ Your testimonies are very sure: Holiness beautifies Your house, O LORD, forever.

⁷ and beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,

¹⁸ Flee fornication. Every sin that a man does is outside the body; but he that commits fornication sins against his own body.

⁸ Nor let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.

³ But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not once be named among you, as befits saints;

⁵ Therefore mortify your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

¹³ And together they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but also tattlers and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

⁴ Marriage is honorable in everyone, and the bed undefiled: But whore-mongers and adulterers God will judge.

¹⁰ Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light:
