¹² You marched through the land in indignation, You threshed the heathen in anger.

²³ And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: But Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: And he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel. ²⁴ And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon to Jabbok, even to the children of Ammon: For the border of the children of Ammon was strong. ²⁵ And Israel took all these cities: And Israel dwelled in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages. ²⁶ For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even to Arnon. ²⁷ Why those that speak in proverbs say, "Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared: ²⁸ For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: It has consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon. ²⁹ Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, O people of Chemosh: He has given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity to Sihon king of the Amorites. ³⁰ We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even to Dibon, and we have laid them waste even to Nophah, which reaches to Medeba. ³¹ Thus Israel dwelled in the land of the Amorites. ³² And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took its villages, and drove out the Amorites that were there. ³³ And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: And Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei. ³⁴ And the LORD said to Moses, "Fear him not: For I have delivered him into your hand, and all his people, and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelled at Heshbon. ³⁵ So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: And they possessed his land.

¹ Now Jericho was strictly shut up because of the children of Israel: None went out, and none came in. ² And the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have given Jericho into your hand, and its king, and the mighty men of valor. ³ And you all shall compass the city, all you men of war, and go all around the city once. Thus you shall do six days. ⁴ And seven priests shall carry before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: And the seventh day you all shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. ⁵ And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when you all hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up, every man, straight before him." ⁶ And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, "Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests carry seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD." ⁷ And he said to the people, "Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the LORD." ⁸ And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: And the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them. ⁹ And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rear-guard came after the ark, the priests going onward, and blowing with the trumpets. ¹⁰ And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, "You all shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you to shout; then you all shall shout." ¹¹ So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: And they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp. ¹² And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.

²² Moreover you gave them kingdoms and nations, and did divide them into corners: So they possessed the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan. ²³ Their children also multiplied you as the stars of heaven, and brought them into the land, concerning which you had promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it. ²⁴ So the children went in and possessed the land, and you subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gave them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they would.

¹ To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, Maschil. We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work You did in their days, in the times of old. ² How you drove out the heathen with Your hand, and planted them; how You afflicted the people, and cast them out. ³ For they did not get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: But Your right hand, and Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You brought to pass a favor to them.

⁵⁵ He also cast out the heathen before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

¹⁵ Behold, I will make you a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: You shall thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shall make the hills as chaff.

³³ For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; "The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor, it is time to thresh her: Yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

³ Thus says the LORD; "For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:

¹² But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD, neither do they understand His counsel: For He shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor. ¹³ "Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: For I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hoofs brass: And you shall beat in pieces many people: And I will consecrate their gain to the LORD, and their substance to the Lord of the whole earth."

¹⁹ And when He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He divided their land to them by lot.
