And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. ¹³ And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigor: ¹⁴ And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in mortar, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: All their service, in which they made them serve, was with rigor. ¹⁵ And the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: ¹⁶ And he said, "When you do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it is a son, then you shall kill him: But if it is a daughter, then she shall live."

²² And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, "Every son that is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive."

⁴ And Moses said, "Thus says the LORD, 'About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt: ⁵ And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts. ⁶ And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such that there has been none like it, nor shall be like it any more. ⁷ But a dog shall not move his tongue against any of the children of Israel, against man or beast: That you may know that the LORD does put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.

¹² For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt: I am the LORD. ¹³ And the blood shall be for a token sign to you upon the houses where you are: And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

²⁹ And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of domestic beasts. ³⁰ And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

⁵ And the king of Egypt was told that the people fled: And the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, "Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?" ⁶ And he made his chariot ready, and took his people with him: ⁷ And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them. ⁸ And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: And the children of Israel went out with a high hand. ⁹ But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.

¹⁷ And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: And I will get Myself honor upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. ¹⁸ And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten Myself honor upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen."

⁹ The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.' ¹⁰ You blew with Your wind, the sea covered them: They sank as lead in the mighty waters.

²² And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: And the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, to Tabbath.

⁸ He sits in the lurking places of the villages: In the secret places he murders the innocent: His eyes are privately set against the poor.

² Hide me from the secret counsel of the ungodly; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity: ³ Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: ⁴ That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. ⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil matter: They commune in discourse of laying snares privately; they say, "Who shall see them? ⁶ They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: Both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep. ⁷ But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly they shall be wounded.

⁵⁰ He made a way for His anger; He did not spare their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence; ⁵¹ and smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:

² For lo, Your enemies make a tumult: And those who hate You have lifted up their head.

⁸ assyria has also joined with them: They have helped the children of Lot. Selah. ⁹ Do to them as to the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook Kishon: ¹⁰ Who perished at Endor: They became as dung for the earth. ¹¹ Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: Yes, all their princes like Zebah, and as Zalmunna:

¹⁰ All nations compassed around me, but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. ¹¹ They compassed around me; yes, they compassed around me: But in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. ¹² They compass around me like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: For in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.

⁴⁰ And at the time of the end the king of the south shall push at him: And the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

¹⁴ And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: And the LORD God shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.

²⁷ "For truly against Your holy Child Jesus, whom You have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, ²⁸ to do whatever Your hand and Your counsel determined beforehand to be done.
