¹ Come, and let us return to the LORD: For He has torn, and He will heal us; He has smitten, and He will bind us up. ² After two days He will revive us: On the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight. ³ Then we shall know, if we follow on pursuing to know the LORD: His going forth is prepared like the morning; and He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter and former rain to the earth. ⁴ O Ephraim, what shall I do to you? O Judah, what shall I do to you? For your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goes away. ⁵ Therefore I have hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of My mouth: And your judgments are as the light that goes forth. ⁶ For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. ⁷ But they have transgressed the covenant like average men: In this they have dealt treacherously against Me. ⁸ Gilead is a city of those that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood. ⁹ And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the streets by consent: For they commit lewdness. ¹⁰ I have seen a horrible thing in the house of Israel: There is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled. ¹¹ Also, O Judah, he has set a harvest for you, when I returned the captivity of My people."

³⁹ See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: Neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

⁶ The LORD kills, and makes alive: He brings down to the grave, and brings up.

¹⁸ For he makes sore, and binds up: He wounds, and his hands make whole.

²⁹ When he gives quietness, who then can make trouble? And when he hides his face, who then can behold him? Whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

⁷ LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong: You hid Your face, and I was troubled.

³ And many people shall go and say, "Come all of you, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths": For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

²² You shall also defile the covering of your graven images of silver, and the ornament of your molten images of gold: You shall cast them away as a menstruous cloth; you shall say to it, 'Be gone.' "

²⁶ Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD binds up the breach of His people, and heals the stroke of their wound.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: And let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

²² Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come to you; for you are the LORD our God."

¹² For thus says the LORD, 'Your bruise is incurable, and your wound is grievous.

¹⁷ For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds', said the LORD; 'because they called you an Outcast, saying, "This is Zion, whom no man seeks after." '

⁵ 'They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in My anger and in My fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid My face from this city.

⁴ In those days, and at that time", said the LORD, "the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: They shall go, and seek the LORD their God.

³² But though He cause grief, yet He will have compassion according to the multitude of His mercies. ³³ For He does not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

⁴⁰ Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD. ⁴¹ Let us lift up our heart with our hands to God in heaven.

¹² Therefore I will be to Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness. ¹³ When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then Ephraim went to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: Yet he could not heal you, nor cure you of your wound. ¹⁴ For I will be to Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him. ¹⁵ I will go and return to My place, until they acknowledge their offense, and seek My face: In their affliction they will seek Me early."

⁷ Therefore I will be to them as a lion: As a leopard by the pathway, I will observe them: ⁸ I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will tear the membrane of their heart, and I will devour them there like a lion: The wild beast shall tear them. ⁹ O Israel, you have destroyed yourself; but in Me is your help.

¹ O Israel, return to the LORD your God; for you have fallen by your iniquity.

⁴ "I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: For My anger is turned away from him.

¹ Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together, O undesired nation;

¹⁸ And Abraham said to God, "O that Ishmael might live before you!"

⁵ turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears: Behold, I will heal you: On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD.

⁴ Sing to the LORD, O you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness. ⁵ For His anger endures but a moment; in His favor is life: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

⁷ He shall abide before God forever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.

¹⁹ Your dead men shall live, together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust: For your dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

¹¹ Then He said to me, "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: Behold, they say, 'Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: We are cut off for our parts. ¹² Therefore prophesy and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "Behold, O My people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. ¹³ And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up out of your graves,

¹⁴ I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be your plagues; O grave, I will be your destruction: Repentance shall be hid from My eyes."

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world sees Me no more; but you see Me: Because I live, you shall live also.

⁸ For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord: Whether we therefore live, or die, we are the Lord's.

⁴ and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

² My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain on the tender herb, and as the showers on the grass:

⁴ And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun rises, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

²³ And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.

⁴ Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,line; or, rule, or, direction

⁹ You visit the earth, and water it: You greatly enrich it with the river of God, which is full of water: You prepare them grain, when You have so provided for it.

⁶ He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: As showers that water the earth.

¹ My son, if you will receive my words, and hide my commandments with you; ² so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; ³ yes, if you cry out after knowledge, and lift up your voice for understanding; ⁴ if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; ⁵ then you shall understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

¹⁸ But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more to the perfect day.

⁶ And I will lay it waste: It shall not be pruned, nor dug; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain on it.

¹⁵ until the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is counted as a forest.

³ For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground: I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring:

¹³ And all your children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of your children.

⁷ And I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the LORD: And they shall be My people, and I will be their God: For they shall return to Me with their whole heart.

²⁵ Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean: I will cleanse you from all your filthiness, and from all your idols.

²⁰ I will even betroth you to Me in faithfulness: And you shall know the LORD.

¹² Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: For it is time to seek the LORD, until He comes and rains righteousness upon you.

⁵ I will be as the dew to Israel: He shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.

²³ Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: For He has given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause the rain to come down for you, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. ²⁴ And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.

² And many nations shall come, and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths": For the law shall go forth from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

² "But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you He shall come forth to Me that is to be Ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

⁷ And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that does not tarry on account of man, nor wait for the sons of men.

¹ Ask rain of the LORD in the time of the latter rain, all of you; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to everyone grass in the field.

² But to you that fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you all shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, "Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

⁷⁸ through the tender mercy of our God; by which the Dayspring from on high has visited us,

¹⁷ If any man will do His will, he shall know about the doctrine, whether it is of God, or whether I speak of Myself.

³ And this is life eternal, that they might know You the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

¹¹ These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether these things were so.

¹³ Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended: But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are ahead, ¹⁴ I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ Therefore let us, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: And if in anything you are otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this to you.

¹⁴ For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end;

¹⁹ We also have a more sure word of prophecy; which you do well that you take heed of, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the day star arise in your hearts:

¹⁶ "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the Bright and Morning Star."

¹⁸ And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: For it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of those that oppressed them and vexed them. ¹⁹ And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down to them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

³⁴ When He slew them, then they sought Him: And they returned and inquired early after God. ³⁵ And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. ³⁶ Nevertheless they flattered Him with their mouth, and they lied to Him with their tongues. ³⁷ For their heart was not right with Him, neither were they steadfast in His covenant.

¹² Then they believed His words; they sang His praise. ¹³ They soon forgot His works; they did not wait for His counsel:

³ "And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, I implore you, judge between Me and My vineyard. ⁴ What more could have been done to My vineyard, that I have not done in it? Why, when I expected that it should bring forth grapes, it brought forth wild grapes?

¹⁰ And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah has not turned to Me with her whole heart, but feignedly", said the LORD.

¹⁹ But I said, "How shall I put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations?" and I said, "You shall call Me, my Father; and shall not turn away from Me."

⁷ How shall I pardon you for this? Your children have forsaken me, and sworn by those that are not gods: When I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses.

⁹ Shall I not visit them for these things?" said the LORD: "and shall My soul not be avenged on such a nation as this?

²³ But this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart; they have revolted and gone.

⁷ Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, "Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of My people?

¹⁵ And you were now turned, and had done right in My sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbor; and you had made a covenant before Me in the house which is called by My name:

¹ "When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: For they commit falsehood; and the thief comes in, and the troop of robbers plunders outside.

⁸ How shall I give you up, Ephraim? How shall I deliver you, Israel? How shall I make you as Admah? How shall I set you as Zeboim? My heart is turned within Me, My repentings are kindled together.

³ Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early dew that passes away, as the chaff that is driven out of the threshing floor with the whirlwind, and as the smoke out of the chimney.

²¹ yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while: Then when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he is offended.

⁷ Then he said to the dresser of his vineyard, 'Behold, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: Cut it down; why does it encumber the ground?' ⁸ And he answering said to him, 'Lord, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it, and dung it. ⁹ And if it bears fruit, well: And if not, then after that you should cut it down.' "

⁴¹ And when He drew near, He beheld the city, and wept over it, ⁴² saying, "If you had known, even you, at least in this day, the things which relate to your peace! But now they are hid from your eyes.

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them, and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. ²¹ For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, "The dog returned to his own vomit again"; and, "the hog that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."

²⁵ Far be it from You to do hurt in this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: And that the righteous should be as the wicked, far be it from You: Shall the Judge of all the earth not do right?"

¹³ And Samuel said to Saul, "You have done foolishly: You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which He commanded you: For the LORD would have now established your kingdom upon Israel forever.

²² And Samuel said, "Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

⁶ And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, "Come in, you wife of Jeroboam; why feign you yourself to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy tidings.

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

¹⁷ And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, "Are you he that troubles Israel?

¹⁷ And it shall come to pass, that him that escapes the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: And him that escapes from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.

¹⁶ And he said to him, "Thus says the LORD, For as much as you have sent messengers to inquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? Therefore you shall not come down off that bed on which you have gone up, but shall surely die.

¹² And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, "Thus says the LORD God of David your father, Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

¹⁰ Therefore listen to me you men of understanding: Far be it from God, that He should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

⁶ And He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and Your judgment as the noonday.

¹²⁰ My flesh trembles for fear of You; and I am afraid of Your judgments.

⁴ But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: And he shall smite the earth: With the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.

¹ "Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

¹⁰ See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant."

¹⁸ For, behold, I have made you this day a defended city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land.

¹⁴ Therefore thus says the LORD God of hosts, "Because you speak this word, behold, I will make My words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

¹³ Then you shall say to them, 'Thus says the LORD, "Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit on David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.

²⁹ "Is not My word like as a fire?" said the LORD; "and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

⁹ I have made your forehead like an adamant harder than flint: Do not fear them, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house."

³ And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city: And the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.

⁵ The just LORD is in the midst of it; He will not do iniquity: Every morning He brings His judgment to light, He does not fail; but the unjust knows no shame.Every morning: In Hebrew, Morning by morning

³¹ When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: And as he drew near to observe it, the voice of the Lord came to him,

⁵ But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you treasure up for yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

¹² For the Word of God is lively, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

¹⁶ And He had in His right hand seven stars: And out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: And His countenance was as the sun shining in His strength.

¹⁶ Repent; or else I will come to you quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.

¹⁵ And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, to slay a third of men.

²¹ Neither did they repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

⁹ And you, Solomon my son, know you the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: For the LORD searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts: If you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

⁸ I will not reprove you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.

³ To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

¹ Keep your foot when you go to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: For they do not consider that they do evil.

¹¹ "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?" said the LORD: "I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of he-goats.

⁶ Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

²² For I did not speak to your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

¹⁶ He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: Was not this known to me?" said the LORD.

²⁷ Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of your tranquility."

¹ Hear the word of the LORD, you children of Israel: For the LORD has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

²¹ I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell scents in your solemn assemblies.solemn assemblies; or, holy days

⁶ With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

⁷ Blessed are the merciful: For they shall obtain mercy.

¹³ But go and learn what this means: 'I will have mercy, and not sacrifice': For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

⁷ But if you had known what this means, 'I will have mercy, and not sacrifice', you would not have condemned the guiltless.

³ And by this we shall know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.

⁶ Whoever abides in Him does not sin: Whoever sins has not seen Him, neither known Him.

⁶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit, and ate, and also gave to her husband with her; and he ate.

¹¹ And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree which I commanded you that you should not eat?"

¹⁵ And they rejected his statutes, and His covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were all around them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.

³³ If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding my iniquity in my bosom:

⁵ The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

¹⁶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, "My leanness, my leanness, woe to me! The treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yes, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

⁸ Yes, you heard not; yes, you knew not; yes, from that time your ear was not opened: For I knew that you would deal very treacherously, and were called a transgressor from the womb.

⁷ And I said after she had done all these things, 'Turn to Me.' But she did not return. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

¹¹ For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against Me", said the LORD.

⁶ Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me", said the LORD.

³² Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them", said the LORD:

⁵⁹ For thus says the Lord GOD; "I will even deal with you as you have done, who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant. ⁶⁰ Nevertheless I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish to you an everlasting covenant. ⁶¹ Then you shall remember your ways, and be ashamed, when you shall receive your sisters, your elder and your younger: And I will give them to you for daughters, but not by your covenant.

⁷ They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: For they have begotten strange children: Now a single month shall devour them with their portions.

¹ "Set the trumpet to your mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed My covenant, and trespassed against My law.

⁹ Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I did not regard them, says the Lord."

³⁸ And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with her suburbs,

²⁷ And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

⁸ When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa went before them. And Joab's garment that he had put on was girded to him, and on it a girdle with a sword fastened on his loins in its sheath; and as he went forth it fell out.

⁵ Moreover you know also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, to Abner the son of Ner, and to Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war on his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.

⁸ He sits in the lurking places of the villages: In the secret places he murders the innocent: His eyes are privately set against the poor.

² Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.

⁶ Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: Their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

¹⁹ But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and did not I know that they had devised devices against me, saying, 'Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may not be remembered anymore.'

² By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood touches blood.

¹ "Hear this, O priests; and hearken, you house of Israel; and give ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because you have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread on Tabor.

¹¹ Is there iniquity in Gilead? Surely they are vanity: They sacrifice bulls in Gilgal; yes, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.

² The good man has perished out of the earth: And there is none upright among men: They all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man, his brother, with a net.good; or, godly, or, merciful

¹⁵ and said to them, "What will you give me, and I will deliver Him to you?" And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. ¹⁶ Therefore, from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.

¹² And when it was day, certain ones of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul. ¹³ Now there were more than forty who had committed to this conspiracy. ¹⁴ And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, "We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul. ¹⁵ Now you, therefore, together with the council, signify to the chief captain that he bring him down to you tomorrow, as though you would inquire something more perfectly concerning him: And we are ready to kill him whenever he comes near."

³ and desired a favor against him, that he would send him to Jerusalem, while they are laying in wait by the road to kill him.

²⁵ Then Jeroboam built Shechem in Mount Ephraim, and dwelled in it; and went out from there, and built Penuel.

³¹ Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem: And the hand of our God was on us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.

¹¹ If they say, "Come with us, let us lay in wait for blood, let us lurk privately for the innocent without cause: ¹² Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: ¹³ We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: ¹⁴ Cast in your lot among us; let us all have one purse": ¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them; refrain your foot from their path: ¹⁶ For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. ¹⁷ Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. ¹⁸ And they lay in wait for their own blood; they lurk privately for their own lives. ¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone that is greedy of gain; which takes away the life of its owners.

⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know; ¹⁰ and come and stand before Me in this house, which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations?'

⁹ And the LORD said to me, "A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

⁹ In you are men who carry tales to shed blood: And in you they eat upon the mountains: In the midst of you they commit lewdness.

²⁷ Her princes in the middle of her are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

⁹ Hear this, I implore you, all you heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.

³ Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they do not gnaw the bones until the next day.

¹ After two days it was the Feast of the Passover, and of Unleavened Bread: And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by craftiness, and put Him to death.

² And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill Him; for they feared the people. ³ Then Satan entered into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being numbered as one of the twelve. ⁴ And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them. ⁵ And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. ⁶ Therefore he promised, and sought opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude.

⁴⁷ Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, "What shall we do? For this Man does many miracles.

²⁴ And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, "Lord, You are God, which has made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that is in them:

⁸ But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:

³⁰ Because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and which he made Israel sin, by his provocation with which he provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger.

⁷ For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

¹² Be astonished, O you heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be very desolate all of you", said the LORD. ¹³ "For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

⁶ The LORD also said to me in the days of Josiah the king, "Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and there has played the harlot.

³⁰ A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; ³¹ the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and My people love to have it so: And what will you do in the end of it?'

¹³ Therefore thus says the LORD; "All of you ask now among the heathen, who has heard such things: The virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.

¹⁴ I have also seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem: They commit adultery and walk in lies: They also strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one returns from his wickedness; they are, all of them, as Sodom to Me, and her inhabitants like Gomorrah.

⁵ And Aholah played the harlot when she was Mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbors,

¹¹ Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

¹⁷ Ephraim is joined to idols: Let him alone.

³ I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from Me: For now, O Ephraim, you commit whoredom, and Israel is defiled.

¹⁰ And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: Also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

¹ A Song of degrees. When the LORD turned back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream.

³³ For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; "The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor, it is time to thresh her: Yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

¹³ Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: Come, get down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

¹² But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD, neither do they understand His counsel: For He shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.

⁷ And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed there: In the houses of Ashkelon they shall lie down in the evening: For the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

¹⁵ And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him that sat on the cloud, "Thrust in Your sickle, and reap: For the time has come for You to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe."
