And whom shall He make to understand doctrine? Those who are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. ¹⁰ For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: ¹¹ For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people. ¹² To whom He said, "This is the rest with which you may cause the weary to rest"; and "this is the refreshing": Yet they would not hear. ¹³ But the word of the LORD to them was precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. ¹⁴ Why hear the word of the LORD, you scornful men, that rule this people who are in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ Because you have said, "We have made a covenant with death, and with hell we are in agreement; when the overflowing whip shall pass through, it shall not come to us: For we have made lies our refuge, and we have hid ourselves under falsehood:" ¹⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: He that believes shall not make haste. ¹⁷ I will also lay judgment on the line, and righteousness to the plummet: And the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. ¹⁸ And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing whip shall pass through, then you shall be trodden down by it. ¹⁹ From the time that it goes forth it shall take you: For morning by morning it shall pass over, by day and by night: And it shall be a terror only to understand the report. ²⁰ For the bed is shorter than a man can stretch himself upon: And the covering narrower than he can wrap himself in. ²¹ For the LORD shall rise up as in Mount Perazim, He shall be angry as in the valley of Gibeon, that He may do his work, His strange work; and bring to pass His act, His strange act. ²² Now therefore you shall not be mockers, lest your bands be made strong: For I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined on the whole earth. ²³ All of you give ear, and hear my voice; listen, and hear my speech. ²⁴ Does the plowman plow all day to sow? Does he open and break the clods of his ground? ²⁵ When he has made the face of it level, does he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rye in their place? ²⁶ For his God does instruct him to discretion, and does teach him. ²⁷ For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned rolled upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod. ²⁸ Bread flour is ground; because he will not be threshing it forever, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen. ²⁹ This also comes forth from the LORD of hosts, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in operation.

²⁵ He restored the border of Israel from the entering of Hamath to the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spoke by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher. ²⁶ For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: For there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel. ²⁷ And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: But he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abelbethmaachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and carried them captive to Assyria.

¹⁰ And at the end of three years they took it: Even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is in the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken. ¹¹ And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel to Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes: ¹² Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed His covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.

⁶ For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah a hundred and twenty thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers.

⁶ So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, "You children of Israel, turn again to the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria. ⁷ And be not you like your fathers, and like your brothers, which trespassed against the LORD God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to desolation, as you see.

²⁹ Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has babbling? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes?

¹¹ Woe to those that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; who continue until night, till wine inflames them!

²² Woe to those that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

⁸ For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken, that it be not a people. ⁹ And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established."

⁴ For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

⁹ And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,

⁷ But they have also erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up by wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

¹¹ Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

⁵ And the pride of Israel testifies to his face: Therefore Israel and Ephraim shall fall in their iniquity: Judah shall also fall with them.

¹⁰ I have seen a horrible thing in the house of Israel: There is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.

⁵ In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

⁸ And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid in pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

¹² "But you gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, 'Do not prophesy.'

¹ Woe to those that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!

⁶ that drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: But they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

⁷ now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up on them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: And he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks: ⁸ And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.

⁹ And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart, ¹⁰ "The bricks have fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: The sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars." ¹¹ Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together; ¹² the Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is outstretched still.

⁴ For You have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

¹ In that day the LORD shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent with His severe and great and strong sword, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and He shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

⁶ You shall be visited by the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

³⁰ And the LORD shall cause His glorious voice to be heard, and shall show the lighting down of His arm, with the indignation of His anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.

¹⁰ Behold, the Lord GOD will come with a strong hand, and His arm shall rule for Him: Behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him.

¹¹ Say to those who daub it with untempered mortar, that it shall fall: There shall be an overflowing shower; and you, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.

¹⁰ Thus says the Lord GOD; "I will also make the multitude of Egypt cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon. ¹¹ He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought to destroy the land: And they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.

⁸ But with an overrunning flood He will make an utter end of that place, and darkness shall pursue His enemies.

²⁵ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it did not fall: For it was founded upon a rock. ²⁶ And everyone that hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: ²⁷ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: And great was the fall of it."

⁸ Therefore her plagues shall come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: For strong is the Lord God Who judges her.

³³ And he said, "Throw her down. So they threw her down: And some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: And he stepped her under foot.

¹⁰ For the hand of the LORD shall rest on this mountain, and Moab shall be trodden down under Him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.

⁶ The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy."

¹⁵ The LORD has trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me: He has called an assembly against me to crush my young men: The LORD has trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.

¹³ Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said to that certain saint which spoke, "How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?"

²⁹ Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, shall he be thought worthy, who has tread underfoot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has extreme malice toward the Spirit of grace?

² But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it; for it is given to the Gentiles: And they shall tread the holy city under foot for forty-two months.

¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. ²⁰ As a dream when one awakes; so, O Lord, when You awake, you shall despise their image.

⁴ O Ephraim, what shall I do to you? O Judah, what shall I do to you? For your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goes away.

¹⁰ I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the first ripe fruit in the fig tree at her first harvest-time: But they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves to that shame; and their abominations were in accordance with that which they loved. ¹¹ As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.

¹⁶ Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: Yes, though they bring forth, yet I will slay even the beloved fruit of their womb."

¹ When Ephraim spoke trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.

¹⁵ Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: He shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.

¹ Woe is me! For I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grape-gleanings of the vintage: There is no cluster to eat: My soul desired the first ripe fruit.

¹² All your strongholds shall be like fig trees with the first ripe figs: If they are shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

¹⁰ But the rich, in that he is made low: Because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. ¹¹ For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, then it withers the grass, and the flower thereof falls, and the grace of its fashion perishes: So also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

¹³ and the stars of heaven fell to the earth, even as a fig tree casts out her untimely figs, when she is shaken by a mighty wind.

¹⁴ I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: My judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

¹⁶ Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your glory to their children. ¹⁷ And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: And establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, the work of our hands, You establish it.

²⁰ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as have escaped of the house of Jacob, shall lean no more again on him that smote them; but shall lean on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. ²¹ The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God.

¹⁶ And there shall be a highway for the remnant of His people, which shall be left, from Assyria; as it was for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

³¹ And the remnant of the house of Judah who have escaped shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward: ³² For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they who escape out of Mount Zion: The zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

¹⁶ You shall fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: And you shall rejoice in the LORD, and shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.

²⁵ In the LORD all the seed of Israel shall be justified, and shall glory.' "

¹ Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen on you. ² For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: But the LORD shall arise upon you, and His glory shall be seen on you. ³ And the Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

¹⁹ The sun shall no longer be your light by day; neither shall the moon give light to you for brightness: But the LORD shall be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory.

³ You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

²³ Thus says the LORD, "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: ²⁴ But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: For in these things I delight", said the LORD.

¹³ He shall even build the temple of the LORD; and He shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon His throne; and He shall be a priest upon His throne: And the counsel of peace shall be between them both." ' ¹⁴ And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD. ¹⁵ And those that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD", and you all shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. And this shall come to pass, if you all will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.

³² a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel."

⁵ Even so then, at this present time there is also a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶ And if by grace, then it is no longer of works: Otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, then it is no longer grace: Otherwise work is no longer work.

³⁰ But by reason of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: ³¹ That, according to as it is written, "He that glories, let him glory in the Lord."

¹⁷ For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

⁴ And when the Chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that does not fade away.

³⁸ And Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find such a one as he is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?" ³⁹ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, "For as much as God has shown you all this, there is none so discreet and wise as you are:

¹⁶ And the LORD said to Moses, "Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them to the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with you. ¹⁷ And I will come down and talk with you there: And I will take of the spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you bear it not yourself alone.

¹⁶ let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, ¹⁷ which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd. ¹⁸ And the LORD said to Moses, "Take you Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay your hand upon him;

²⁸ And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: For they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

⁸ With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

³² It is God that girds me with strength, and makes my way perfect. ³³ He makes my feet like hinds' feet, and sets me on my high places. ³⁴ He teaches my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by my arms.

¹¹ The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

¹ A Psalm for Solomon. Give the king Your judgments, O God, and Your righteousness to the king's son. ² He shall judge Your people with righteousness, and Your poor with judgment. ³ The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. ⁴ He shall judge the poor of the people, He shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.

⁸ A king that sits in the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes.

² And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest on him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; ³ and shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: And he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: ⁴ But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: And he shall smite the earth: With the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.

¹⁵ until the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is counted as a forest. ¹⁶ Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.

³⁴ For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God: For God does not give the Spirit by limited measure to Him.

³⁰ I can of My own self do nothing: As I hear, I judge: And My judgment is just; because I do not seek My own will, but the will of the Father which has sent Me.

⁸ For to one is given the word of wisdom by the Spirit; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

⁹ do not drink wine nor strong drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest you die: It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations: ¹⁰ And that you may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;

²⁷ They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.

¹ Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: And whoever is deceived by it is not wise.

⁴ It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: ⁵ Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

¹⁷ Blessed are you, O land, when your king is the son of nobles, and your princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!

¹² As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.

¹⁵ The elder and honorable, he is the head; and the prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail. ¹⁶ For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and those that are led by them are destroyed.

¹⁴ The LORD has mingled a perverse spirit in the midst of it: And they have caused Egypt to err in every work of it, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit.

¹³ And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we shall die.

² And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

¹¹ And all the vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is learned, saying, "Read this, I pray": And he said, "I cannot; for it is sealed."

¹⁰ His watchmen are blind: They are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. ¹¹ Yes, they are greedy dogs who can never have enough, and they are shepherds who cannot understand: They all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. ¹² "Come all of you", they say, "I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be like today, and much more abundant."

¹⁴ Then the LORD said to me, "The prophets prophesy lies in My name: I did not send them, neither have I commanded them, nor spoke to them: They prophesy to you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their heart."

¹³ "And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused My people Israel to err.

¹⁶ Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you: They make you vain: They speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.

⁴ He has bent His bow like an enemy: He stood with His right hand as an adversary, and slew all who were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: He poured out his fury like fire.

⁷ Have you not seen a vain vision, and have you not spoken a lying divination, whereas you say, 'The LORD said it'; albeit I have not spoken?"

²¹ Neither shall any priest drink wine, when they enter into the inner court.

¹¹ Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart. ¹² My people ask counsel from their wooden idols, and their wooden staff declares to them: For the spirit of whoredoms has caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.

¹¹ If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood speaks lies, saying, 'I will prophesy to you from wine and from strong drink'; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

²⁹ Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

³⁴ Also take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with gluttony, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you when unaware.

²⁸ So husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

¹¹ As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool returns to his folly.

²⁶ "Make you him drunken: For he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he shall also be in derision.

¹⁵ Woe to him that gives his neighbor drink, that puts your bottle to him, and also makes him drunk, that you may look on their nakedness! ¹⁶ You are filled with shame for glory: Drink also, and let your foreskin be uncovered: The cup of the LORD's right hand shall be turned toward you, and shameful spewing shall be on your glory.

¹⁷ Seeing you hate instruction, and cast My words behind you.

² Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: My soul is even as a weaned child.

²⁹ For they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

²⁶ For his God does instruct him to discretion, and does teach him.

¹⁰ Which say to the seers, "See not"; and to the prophets, "Do not prophesy to us right things, speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits: ¹¹ Get out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us." ¹² Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, "Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely on them:

²⁰ And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet your teachers shall not be removed into a corner any more, but your eyes shall see your teachers:

¹⁷ Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD your God who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go.

⁴ The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary: He wakens morning by morning, He wakens my ear to hear as the learned.

¹ Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

¹³ And all your children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of your children.

³¹ the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and My people love to have it so: And what will you do in the end of it?'

¹⁰ To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot listen: Behold, the word of the LORD is a reproach to them; they have no delight in it.

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, "I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes.

¹⁵ But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David"; they were intensely displeased, ¹⁶ and said to Him, "Do You hear what these say?" And Jesus said to them, "Yes; have you never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise'?"

¹⁵ Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter into it."

¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

³⁸ That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"

⁴⁷ And if anyone hears My words, and does not believe, I do not judge him: For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. ⁴⁸ He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has one that judges him: The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

² as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:

¹ Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you go to possess it: ² That you might fear the LORD your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son's son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged. ³ Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you, in the land that flows with milk and honey. ⁴ Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: ⁵ And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. ⁶ And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart:

¹⁵ And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: ¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

²⁹ and testified against them, that you might bring them again to your law: Yet they dealt proudly, and did not hearken to your commandments, but sinned against your judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them); and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear. ³⁰ Yet many years did you forbear them, and testified against them by your spirit in your prophets: Yet would they not give ear: Therefore gave you them into the hand of the people of the lands.

⁴ What more could have been done to My vineyard, that I have not done in it? Why, when I expected that it should bring forth grapes, it brought forth wild grapes?

¹³ But the word of the LORD to them was precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

⁷ For I earnestly protested to your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even to this day, rising early and protesting, saying, "Obey my voice."

³ "From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even to this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the LORD has come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking; but you have not listened. ⁴ And the LORD has sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but you have not listened, nor inclined your ear to hear. ⁵ They said, 'All of you turn now again, everyone from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD has given to you and to your fathers forever and ever: ⁶ And do not go after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no harm.' ⁷ Yet you have not listened to Me", said the LORD; "that you might provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.

³⁴ Now when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the vinedressers, that they might receive the fruit of it. ³⁵ But the vinedressers took his servants, and beat one, killed another, and stoned yet another. ³⁶ Again, he sent other servants more than the first: And they did likewise to them. ³⁷ But last of all he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will reverence my son.' ³⁸ But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.' ³⁹ And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. ⁴⁰ Therefore when the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vinedressers? ⁴¹ They said to Him, "He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will lease out his vineyard to other vinedressers, which shall give him the fruits in their seasons."

¹ Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write even the same things to you is not grievous to me, but for you it is safe.

⁷ ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

¹² Even though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need that one teach you again what are the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food.

⁴⁹ The LORD shall bring a nation against you from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies; a nation whose tongue you shall not understand;

¹⁹ You shall not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than you can perceive; of a stammering tongue, that you cannot understand.

¹⁵ See, I will bring a nation from afar upon you, O house of Israel", said the LORD: "it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you do not know, neither can you understand what they say.

²¹ In the law it is written, "With men of other tongues and other lips I will speak to this people; and yet, for all that, they will not hear Me", says the Lord.

¹¹ And Asa cried out to the LORD his God, and said, "LORD, it is nothing with you to help, whether with many, or with those that have no power: Help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on you, and in your name we go against this multitude. O LORD, you are our God; let no man prevail against you.

⁸ Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet, because you did rely on the LORD, he delivered them into your hand. ⁹ For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein you have done foolishly: Therefore from now on you shall have wars.

¹¹ But My people would not hearken to My voice; and Israel would have none of Me. ¹² So I gave them up to their own hearts' lust: And they walked in their own counsels. ¹³ Oh, that My people had hearkened to Me, and Israel had walked in My ways!

¹⁰ And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; the Gentiles shall seek it: And His dwelling shall be glorious.

¹⁵ For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: And you would not."

¹⁶ Thus says the LORD, "All of you stand in the roads, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk in it, and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, 'We will not walk in it.'

¹⁶ "As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD, we will not listen to you.

¹¹ But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

¹⁴ "But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they did not know. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: For they laid the pleasant land desolate."

²⁸ Come to Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: And you shall find rest for your souls.

²⁵ See that you do not refuse Him that speaks. For if those who refused 'Him that spoke on earth' did not escape, much more we shall not escape, if we turn away from Him that speaks from heaven:

²² Let their table become a snare before them: And that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.

⁹ And He said, "Go, and tell this people, 'You indeed hear, but do not understand; and you see indeed, but do not perceive.' ¹⁰ Make the heart of this people dull, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed."

¹⁴ And He shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, for a trap and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

¹⁰ For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

³⁶ And the burden of the LORD you shall mention no more: Forevery man's word shall be his burden; for you have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts, our God. ³⁷ Thus you shall say to the prophet, 'What has the LORD answered you?' and, 'What has the LORD spoken?' ³⁸ But since you say, 'The burden of the LORD'; therefore thus says the LORD; 'Because you say this word, "The burden of the LORD", and I have sent to you, saying, "You shall not say, 'The burden of the LORD' ";

⁵ Therefore I have hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of My mouth: And your judgments are as the light that goes forth.

¹² I have written to him the great things of My law, but they were counted as a strange thing.

¹⁴ And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says, 'By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive:

⁴⁴ And whoever falls on this stone shall be broken: But on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder."

⁹ And David says, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling-block, and a recompense to them:

¹⁶ To the one we are the savour of death leading to death; and to the other the savor of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?

⁷ Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious: But to those who are disobedient, "The stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head cornerstone", ⁸ and "A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense", even to those which stumble at the word, being disobedient: For that also they were appointed.

¹⁶ as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things that are hard to be understood, which those who are unlearned and unstable twist, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

²² "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? And the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

³⁴ Surely He scorns the scorners: But He gives grace to the lowly.

⁸ Scornful men bring a city into a snare: But wise men turn away wrath.

¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; give ear to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah.

⁹ In My ears said the LORD of hosts, "Truly, many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair looking ones, without inhabitant.

²² Now therefore you shall not be mockers, lest your bands be made strong: For I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined on the whole earth.

²⁰ For the terrible one is brought to nothing, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:

⁴¹ 'Behold, you despisers, wonder, and perish: For I work a work in your days, a work which you shall in no way believe, though a man declare it to you.' "

²³ For you shall be in league with the stones of the field: And the wild beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.

²⁵ For he stretches out his hand against God, and strengthens himself against the Almighty. ²⁶ He runs upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his buckler shields: ²⁷ Because he covers his face with his fatness, and makes bulges of fat on his flanks.

⁸ There is no man who has power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither does he have power in the day of death: And there is no discharge from that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those who are given to it.

¹⁸ Woe to those that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope: ¹⁹ That say, "Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: And let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come, that we may know it!"

¹⁵ The elder and honorable, he is the head; and the prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail.

² Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

¹⁸ And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing whip shall pass through, then you shall be trodden down by it.

¹⁵ Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, "Who sees us?" and "Who knows us?"

¹⁰ Which say to the seers, "See not"; and to the prophets, "Do not prophesy to us right things, speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

²⁸ And His breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the middle of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: And there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.

¹³ Then I said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, the prophets say to them, 'You shall not see the sword, neither shall you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.' "

¹⁹ O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth, and shall say, "Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things in which there is no profit."

¹⁵ Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, "Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD has not sent you; but you make this people trust in a lie. ¹⁶ Therefore thus says the LORD; 'Behold, I will cast you from off the face of the earth: This year you shall die, because you have taught rebellion against the LORD.' " ¹⁷ So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

¹⁷ But we will certainly do whatever thing goes forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: For then we had plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil.

¹² Then He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? For they say, 'the LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the earth.' "

¹⁶ to wit, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace", said the Lord GOD.

²² Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:

²² And with the arms of a flood they shall be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yes, also the prince of the covenant.

¹⁸ And in that day I will make a covenant for them with the wild beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: And I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.

⁴ Thus says the LORD; "For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept His commandments, and their lies caused them to err, the same errors after which their fathers have walked:

⁸ Those that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

¹² And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: That say in their heart, 'The LORD will not do good, neither will He do evil.'

⁹ Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in those that perish; because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this reason God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and the gathering of the people shall be to Him.Shiloh is a by-name for The Messiah

²⁴ But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from there comes the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel):

⁷ He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: His heart is stable, trusting in the LORD. ⁸ His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he sees his desire upon his enemies.

²² The Stone which the builders refused has become the Head Stone of the corner.

¹⁸ And therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you, and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you: For the LORD is a God of judgment: Blessed are all those that wait for Him.

³ For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: Though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. ⁴ Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: But the just shall live by his faith.

⁹ For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: Behold, I will engrave the carved work upon it', says the LORD of hosts, 'and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

⁴² Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures: 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner: This is the LORD'S doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?

¹⁰ And have you not read this scripture; 'The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner:

¹⁷ Moreover He beheld them, and said, "What is this then that is written, 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner'? ¹⁸ Whoever falls upon that stone shall be broken: But on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder."

¹¹ This is the 'stone which was set at naught by you builders, which has become the head of the corner.' ¹² Neither is there salvation in any other: For there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved."

³³ As it is written, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling-stone and rock of offense: And whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed."

¹¹ For the scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be ashamed."

¹¹ For no other foundation can any man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

²⁰ and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone;

⁷ Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receives the early and latter rain. ⁸ You also be patient; establish your hearts: For the coming of the Lord draws near.

⁶ Therefore it is also contained in the scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious: And he that believes on Him shall not be confounded."

¹⁸ Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since its foundation even until now. ¹⁹ Therefore send forth now, and gather your domestic beasts, and all that you have in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die." ' "

¹¹ And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven on them to Azekah, and they died: They were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

¹³ And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: And I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipes a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down.

¹⁶ Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflowed with a flood:

¹⁵ But judgment shall return to righteousness: And all the upright in heart shall follow it.

¹⁶ But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God who is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

²² For though your people Israel are as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: The decreed destruction shall overflow with righteousness.

¹⁵ Because you have said, "We have made a covenant with death, and with hell we are in agreement; when the overflowing whip shall pass through, it shall not come to us: For we have made lies our refuge, and we have hid ourselves under falsehood:"

² And a man shall be like a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

¹⁸ And My people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places; ¹⁹ when it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place.

⁴ Do not trust in lying words, saying, 'The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.' ⁵ For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor; ⁶ if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: ⁷ Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, forever and ever. ⁸ Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit.

¹⁴ therefore I will do to this house, which is called by My name, in which you trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

²⁰ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "Behold, My anger and My fury shall be poured out on this place, upon man, and upon beast, and on the trees of the field, and on the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched."

¹⁹ Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD has gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: It shall fall grievously on the head of the wicked.

²³ Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goes forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: It shall fall with pain on the head of the wicked. ²⁴ The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until He has done it, and until He has performed the intents of His heart: In the latter days you shall consider it.

¹⁰ Because, even because they have seduced My people, saying, "Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and lo, others daubed it with untempered mortar: ¹¹ Say to those who daub it with untempered mortar, that it shall fall: There shall be an overflowing shower; and you, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it. ¹² See, when the wall has fallen, shall it not be said to you, 'Where is the daubing with which you have daubed it?' " ¹³ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "I will even rend it with a stormy wind in My fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in My anger, and great hailstones in My fury to consume it. ¹⁴ So I will break down the wall that you have daubed with untempered mortar, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation of it shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and you shall be consumed in its midst: And you shall know that I am the LORD. ¹⁵ Thus I will accomplish My wrath upon the wall, and on those who have daubed it with untempered mortar, and will say to you, 'The wall is no more, neither are they who daubed it'; ¹⁶ to wit, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace", said the Lord GOD.

²² And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

⁷ Thus he showed me: And behold, the LORD stood on a wall made by a plumb line, with a plumb line in His hand. ⁸ And the LORD said to me, "Amos, what do you see?" And I said, "A plumb-line." Then the Lord said, "Behold, I will set a plumb-line in the midst of My people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more: ⁹ And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword."

²⁷ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: And great was the fall of it."

² But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who commit such things.

⁵ But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you treasure up for yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

²⁸ For He will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: Because the Lord will make a short work upon the earth."

⁶ By which the world that existed back then, being overflowed with water, perished: ⁷ But the heavens and the earth, which are now kept in store by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

⁷ The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: And a third of the trees were burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

¹⁹ Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His testament was seen in His temple: And there were lightnings, voices, thunderings, an earthquake, and large hail.

²¹ And there fell upon men a large hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: And men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague of this was exceedingly great.1 attic talent weighed 56 pounds 11 ounces English troy weight, or ~25.7 kilograms.

² For His judgments are true and righteous: For He has judged the great whore, which corrupted the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of His servants at her hand."

¹⁵ and on every high tower, and on every fenced wall,

⁷ Thus says the Lord GOD, "It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

⁸ And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.

¹⁰ Take counsel together, and it shall come to nothing; speak the word, and it shall not stand: For God is with us."

³ The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

²⁸ Yet a small number who escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, Mine, or their's.

² Thus says the LORD; "Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those who dwell in it: Then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl.

¹⁵ But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Shall he prosper? Shall he escape who does such things? Or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?

⁹ And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceedingly great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. ¹⁰ And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. ¹¹ Yes, he magnified himself even to the Prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down. ¹² And a host was given to him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practiced, and prospered. ¹³ Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said to that certain saint which spoke, "How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?"

²⁶ And after sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself: And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end of it shall be with a flood, and until the end of the war desolations are determined. ²⁷ And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that which is determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

⁴⁰ And at the time of the end the king of the south shall push at him: And the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

⁶ But My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? And they returned and said, 'As the LORD of hosts thought to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, in this manner He has dealt with us.' "

¹ "For behold, the day comes, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: And the day that comes shall burn them up", says the LORD of hosts, "that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. ² But to you that fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you all shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. ³ And all of you shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this", says the LORD of hosts.

¹⁵ And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.

¹⁵ And he said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the whore sits, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

¹¹ And the LORD said to Samuel, "Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of everyone who hears it shall tingle.

⁶ In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

¹³ Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.

¹² Therefore thus says the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil on Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both his ears shall tingle.

² And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldeans, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by his servants the prophets.

¹¹ Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.

⁵ O Assyrian, the rod of My anger, and the staff in their hand is My indignation. ⁶ I will send him against a hypocritical nation, and I will give him a charge against the people of my wrath, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire in the streets.

⁷ Behold, their valiant ones shall cry outside: The ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.

²² Then Eliakim came, the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

³ And they said to him, "Thus said Hezekiah, 'This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: For the children have come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

³ and say, "Hear the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; 'Behold, I will bring evil on this place, for which whoever hears, his ears shall tingle.

¹⁹ "Also, you son of man, appoint two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come: The two shall both come forth out of one land: And choose a place, choose it at the head of the way to the city. ²⁰ Appoint a way, that the sword may come to Rabbath of the Ammonites, and to Judah in Jerusalem the defended. ²¹ For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: He made his arrows bright, he consulted with images, he looked in the liver. ²² At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering rams against the gates, to cast a mount, and to build a fort. ²³ And it shall be to them as a false divination in their sight, to those who have sworn oaths: But He will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.

²⁸ At this time is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my thoughts troubled me greatly, and my countenance changed in me: But I kept the matter in my heart."

²⁷ And I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick for days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astounded at the vision, but none understood it.

¹⁶ When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: Rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: When he comes up to the people, he will invade them with his troops.

²⁵ And there shall be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; ²⁶ men's hearts failing them from fear, and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth: For the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

¹² I will declare your righteousness, and your works; for they shall not profit you. ¹³ When you cry, let your companies deliver you; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: But he who puts his trust in Me shall possess the land, and shall inherit My holy mountain;

⁵ They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: He who eats of their eggs dies, and that which is crushed breaks out into a viper. ⁶ Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: Their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

⁶ But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

³ He who kills an ox is as if he slew a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he who offers an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he who burns incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yes, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations. ⁴ I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none answered; when I spoke, they did not hear: But they did evil before My eyes, and chose that in which I did not delight. ⁵ Hear the word of the LORD, you who tremble at His word; Your brothers who hated you, that cast you out for My name's sake, said, 'Let the LORD be glorified': But He shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. ⁶ A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that renders recompense to His enemies.

⁸ Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit. ⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know; ¹⁰ and come and stand before Me in this house, which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations?'

³⁰ What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who did not follow after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. ³¹ But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. ³² Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling-stone;

¹⁸ For the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those that perish; but to us who are saved it is the power of God. ¹⁹ For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." ²⁰ Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? ²¹ For since in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of preaching to save those that believe. ²² For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: ²³ But we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling-block, and to the Greeks foolishness; ²⁴ but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. ²⁵ For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. ²⁶ For you see your calling, brethren, how not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: ²⁷ But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; ²⁸ and base things of the world, and things which are despised, God has chosen, yes, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are: ²⁹ That no flesh should glory in His presence.

²¹ And the LORD shall separate him to evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law: ²² So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, "when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD has laid on it; ²³ and that the whole land of it is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: ²⁴ Even all nations shall say, "Why has the LORD done thus to this land? What means the heat of this great anger?

¹⁰ And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goes up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and to Makkedah.

¹² Then spoke Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand you still on Gibeon; and you, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

²⁰ And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, "The LORD has broken forth on my enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.

²⁵ And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until you come to Gazer.

¹¹ So they came up to Baalperazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, "God has broken in on my enemies by my hand like the breaking forth of waters: Therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim.

¹⁶ David therefore did as God commanded him: And they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.

¹² Therefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord has performed His whole work upon Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

¹⁹ From the time that it goes forth it shall take you: For morning by morning it shall pass over, by day and by night: And it shall be a terror only to understand the report.

¹⁴ Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder: For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid."

¹⁴ All your lovers have forgotten you; they do not seek you; for I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of your iniquity; because your sins were increased.

¹⁵ All who pass by clap their hands at you; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, "Is this the city that men call 'The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth'?"

³³ For He does not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

²¹ And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, on the fifth day of the month, that one who had escaped out of Jerusalem came to me, saying, "The city is smitten."

⁴¹ And when He drew near, He beheld the city, and wept over it, ⁴² saying, "If you had known, even you, at least in this day, the things which relate to your peace! But now they are hid from your eyes. ⁴³ For the days shall come upon you, that your enemies shall cast a trench around you, surround you, and keep you in on every side, ⁴⁴ and shall level you even with the ground, and your children within you; and they shall not leave one stone upon another in you; because you did not know the time of your visitation."

¹⁰ So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even to Zebulun: But they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.

¹¹ Why the LORD brought on them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

¹⁶ For He has broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in pieces.

²² For though your people Israel are as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: The decreed destruction shall overflow with righteousness. ²³ For the Lord GOD of hosts shall even make a determined consumption in the midst of all the land.

¹ Behold, the LORD makes the earth empty, and makes it waste, and turns it upside down, and scatters abroad its inhabitants. ² And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. ³ The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: For the LORD has spoken this word. ⁴ The earth mourns and fades away, the world languishes and fades away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. ⁵ The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. ⁶ Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, and those that dwell in it are desolate: Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left. ⁷ The new wine mourns, the vine languishes, all the merry hearted do sigh. ⁸ The mirth of tambourine ceases, the noise of those who rejoice ends, the joy of the harp ceases. ⁹ They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to those who drink it. ¹⁰ The city of confusion is broken down: Every house is shut up, that no man may come in. ¹¹ There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone. ¹² In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction. ¹³ Thus when it shall be in the middle of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done. ¹⁴ They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea. ¹⁵ Why do you glorify the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea. ¹⁶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, "My leanness, my leanness, woe to me! The treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yes, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously. ¹⁷ Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are on you, O inhabitant of the earth. ¹⁸ And it shall come to pass, that he who flees from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that comes up out of the middle of the pit shall be taken in the snare: For the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake. ¹⁹ The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is dissolved clean, the earth is moved exceedingly. ²⁰ The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression of it shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. ²¹ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. ²² And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days they shall be visited. ²³ Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his elders gloriously.

¹⁴ Why hear the word of the LORD, you scornful men, that rule this people who are in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ Because you have said, "We have made a covenant with death, and with hell we are in agreement; when the overflowing whip shall pass through, it shall not come to us: For we have made lies our refuge, and we have hid ourselves under falsehood:"

¹² They shall lament for the teats, for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine. ¹³ On the land of my people thorns and briers shall come up; yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city: ¹⁴ Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for caves forever, a joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks;

¹⁷ I did not sit in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of Your hand: For You have filled me with indignation.

⁷ O LORD, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and have prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocks me.

¹¹ And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

⁷ Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.

¹⁴ The yoke of my transgressions is bound by His hand: They are wreathed, and come up on my neck: He has made my strength to fall, the LORD has delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.

³⁹ And those that passed by reviled Him, wagging their heads,

⁴⁴ The thieves also, which were crucified with Him, cast the same in His teeth.

²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: And Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

⁴⁰ Beware therefore, lest that which is spoken of in the prophets come upon you; ⁴¹ 'Behold, you despisers, wonder, and perish: For I work a work in your days, a work which you shall in no way believe, though a man declare it to you.' "

³² And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: And others said, "We will hear you again on this matter."

¹⁸ For I testify to every man that hears the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add to these things, God shall add to him the plagues that are written in this book: ¹⁹ And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

¹ Give ear, O you heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

² Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: For the LORD has spoken, "I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against Me.

²⁹ O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

⁷ "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; to him that overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God." '

¹¹ "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; he that overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death." '

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you, because you have there those that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to throw a stumbling-block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit fornication.

²⁹ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' "

³ For thus says the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, "Break up your fallow ground, and do not sow among thorns.

¹¹ And Ephraim is as a heifer that is taught, and loves to tread out the grain; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods." ¹² Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: For it is time to seek the LORD, until He comes and rains righteousness upon you.

³¹ And the flax and the barley was smitten: For the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bloom. ³² But the wheat and the rye were not smitten: For they were not grown up.

⁹ Take also to yourself wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make them into bread for yourself, according to the number of the days that you shall lie on your side, three hundred and ninety days you shall eat of it.

²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law; judgment, mercy, and faith: These you ought to have done, and not leave the others undone.

³ And you shall speak to all that are wise-hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me in the priest's office.

³ And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, ⁴ to devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, ⁵ and in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship. ⁶ And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: And in the hearts of all that are wise-hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded you;

² And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise-hearted man, in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, even everyone whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work:

¹¹ who teaches us more than the wild beasts of the earth, and makes us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

¹⁷ because God has deprived her of wisdom, neither has he imparted to her understanding.

¹ A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD my strength, Which teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:

¹⁷ As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: And Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, nor shadow of turning.

⁷ Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.

⁷ Has He smitten Israel, as He smote those who smote Israel? Or is He slain according to the slaughter of the Israelites that are slain by Him? ⁸ In measure, when Israel shoots forth, You will debate with it: He maintains His rough wind in the day of the east wind.

¹⁵ Behold, I will make you a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: You shall thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shall make the hills as chaff.

²⁴ O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing.

²⁸ Do not fear, O Jacob My servant", said the LORD: "for I am with you; for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you: But I will not make a full end of you, but correct you in measure; yet I will not leave you wholly unpunished."

³ Thus says the LORD; "For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:

¹⁰ O my threshing, and the grain of my floor: That which I have heard from the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, I have declared to you.

⁹ "For lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet the smallest grain shall not fall upon the earth.sift: In Hebrew, cause to movegrain: In Hebrew, stone

¹² Whose fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor, and gather His wheat into the granary; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

³⁷ He answered and said to them, "He that sows the good seed is the Son of Man; ³⁸ the field is the world; the good seeds are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; ³⁹ the enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. ⁴⁰ Therefore, as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so it shall be at the end of this world. ⁴¹ The Son of Man shall send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those which do iniquity; ⁴² and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. ⁴³ Then the righteous shall shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

³¹ And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: ³² But I have prayed for you, that your faith does not fail: And when you are converted, strengthen your brethren."

²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a kernel of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone: But if it dies, it brings forth much fruit.

⁹ For we are laborers together with God: You are God's tillage, you are God's building.

⁹ For it is written in the law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treads out the grain kernels." Does God take care in favor of oxen? ¹⁰ Or does He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: That he that plows should plow in hope; and he that threshes in hope should be a partaker of his hope.

⁹ Which does great things and unsearchable; marvelous things without number:

²³ Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: He is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: He will not afflict.

⁵ Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done, and Your thoughts which are toward us: They cannot be recounted in order to You: If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

⁵ O LORD, how great are Your works! And Your thoughts are very deep.

⁶ For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given: And the government shall be upon His shoulder: And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

²¹ For the LORD shall rise up as in Mount Perazim, He shall be angry as in the valley of Gibeon, that He may do his work, His strange work; and bring to pass His act, His strange act. ²² Now therefore you shall not be mockers, lest your bands be made strong: For I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined on the whole earth.

¹⁹ great in counsel, and mighty in work: For Your eyes are open on all the ways of the sons of men: To give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

² I thought it would be good to show the signs and wonders that the high God has worked in regard to me. ³ How great are His signs! And how mighty are His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to generation."

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!
