¹⁶ Come near to me, hear this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there I am: And now the Lord GOD, and His Spirit, has sent me.

¹ And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: ² And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest on him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; ³ and shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: And he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: ⁴ But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: And he shall smite the earth: With the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked. ⁵ And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

¹ Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: Let them come near; then let them speak: Let us come near together for judgment.

¹⁹ I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I did not say to the seed of Jacob, 'You seek me in vain': I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

³ I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass. ⁴ Because I knew that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew, and your brow brass; ⁵ I have even from the beginning declared it to you; before it came to pass I showed you it: Lest you should say, 'My idol has done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, has commanded them.' ⁶ You have heard, seen all this; and will you not declare it? I have showed you new things from this time, even hidden things, and you did not know them.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; ² to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; ³ to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified.

⁸ For thus says the LORD of hosts; "After the glory, He has sent me to the nations which plundered you: For he that touches you touches the apple of His eye. ⁹ For behold, I will shake My hand upon them, and they shall be a pillage to their servants: And you all shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me. ¹⁰ Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: For lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you", says the LORD. ¹¹ "And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be My people: And I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.

¹⁸ "The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are bruised,

³⁴ For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God: For God does not give the Spirit by limited measure to Him.

²⁰ Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always assemble; and in secret I have said nothing.
