⁶ Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: Their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

¹¹ The earth was also corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

¹ "Woe to the rebellious children", said the LORD, "that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

¹² Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, "Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely on them: ¹³ Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly in an instant." ¹⁴ And He shall break it as the breaking of the potters' vessel which is broken in pieces; He shall not spare: So that after the bursting of it there shall not be found a shard to take fire from the hearth, or to take water out of the pit.

¹² I will declare your righteousness, and your works; for they shall not profit you.

⁴ Behold, you fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: You shall not fast as you do this day, to make your voice heard on high.

⁶ But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

⁷ As a fountain casts out her waters, so she casts out her wickedness: Violence and spoil are heard in her; before Me continually are grief and wounds.

¹¹ Violence has risen up into a rod of wickedness: None of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor any of their abundance: Neither shall there be wailing for them.

²³ Make a chain: For the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.

¹⁰ For they do not know to do right', says the LORD, 'who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.' "robbery; or, spoil

³ You that assume the evil day is far away, and cause the seat of violence to come near;seat; or, habitation

¹ Woe to those that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! When the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. ² And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: So they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.oppress; or, defraud ³ Therefore thus says the LORD; "Behold, against this family I devise an evil, from which you shall not remove your necks; neither shall you go haughtily: For this time is evil.

⁸ Even of late My people are risen up as an enemy: You pull off the robe with the garment from those that pass by securely, as men averse from war.

¹ And I said, "Hear, I implore you, O heads of Jacob, and all you princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment? ² Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones; ³ who also eat the flesh of My people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron." ⁴ Then they shall cry to the LORD, but He will not hear them: He will even hide His face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves badly in their doings. ⁵ Thus says the LORD concerning the prophets that make My people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, "Peace"; and he that does not put into their mouths, they even prepare war against him. ⁶ Therefore night shall be to you, that you all shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark to you, that you all shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them. ⁷ Then the seers shall be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: Yes, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer from God." ⁸ But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin. ⁹ Hear this, I implore you, all you heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity. ¹⁰ They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. ¹¹ The heads of it judge for reward, and its priests teach for hire, and its prophets divine for money: Yet they will lean upon the LORD, and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No evil can come upon us."

¹² For their rich men are full of violence, and its inhabitants have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

² O LORD, how long shall I cry, and You will not hear? I even cry out to You on account of violence, and You will not save! ³ Why do You show me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? For spoiling and violence are before me: And there are things that raise up strife and contention. ⁴ Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment never goes forth: For the wicked compass around the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceeds.

⁹ On the same day I will also punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.

³ Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they do not gnaw the bones until the next day. ⁴ Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: Her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.

²⁰ Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh shall be justified in His sight: For by the law is the knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the prophets; ²² even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ to all and upon all those who believe: For there is no difference:

⁶ Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, to whom God imputes righteousness without works, ⁷ saying, "Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. ⁸ Blessed is the man to whom the LORD will not impute sin."

¹⁷ Because you say, 'I am rich, and am increased with goods, and have need of nothing'; but do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked: ¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, so that the shame of your nakedness does not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye-salve, that you may see.
