¹² Therefore I will number you to the sword, and you shall all bow down to the slaughter: Because when I called, you did not answer; when I spoke, you did not hear; but did evil before My eyes, and chose that in which I do not delight."

²⁵ And I will bring a sword on you, that shall avenge the quarrel of My covenant: And when you are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

²⁵ The sword outside, and terror inside, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.

¹⁵ And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: ¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

²⁴ Because I have called, and you refused; I have outstretched my hand, and no man regarded; ²⁵ but you have disregarded all my counsel, and would have none of my reproof: ²⁶ I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes; ²⁷ when your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish come upon you. ²⁸ Then they shall call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: ²⁹ For they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: ³⁰ They would have none of my counsel: They despised all my reproof. ³¹ Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. ³² For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. ³³ But whoever hearkens to me shall dwell safely, and shall be at ease from fear of evil.

¹⁶ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil;

²⁵ Your men shall fall by the sword, and your mighty in the war.

⁴ Without Me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is outstretched still.

¹ In that day the LORD shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent with His severe and great and strong sword, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and He shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

²⁸ For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counselor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

² Why, when I came, was there no man? When I called, was there none to answer? Is My hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: Their fish stinks, because there is no water, and die for thirst.

³ A people who provoke Me to anger continually to My face; who sacrifice in gardens, and burn incense on altars of brick;

³ He who kills an ox is as if he slew a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he who offers an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he who burns incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yes, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations. ⁴ I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none answered; when I spoke, they did not hear: But they did evil before My eyes, and chose that in which I did not delight.

¹³ And now, because you have done all these works", said the LORD, "and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear; and I called you, but you did not answer;

¹⁷ For My eyes are on all their ways: They are not hid from My face, neither is their iniquity hid from My eyes.

²¹ Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.

¹⁷ Therefore thus says the LORD; 'You have not listened to Me, in proclaiming liberty, everyone to his brother, and every man to his neighbor: Behold, I proclaim a liberty for you', said the LORD, 'to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.

¹⁷ Or if I bring a sword on that land, and say, 'Sword, go through the land'; so that I cut off man and beast from it: ¹⁸ Though these three men were in it, as I live", said the Lord GOD, "they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but only they themselves shall be delivered. ¹⁹ Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out My fury on it in blood, to cut off man and beast from it: ²⁰ Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live", said the Lord GOD, "they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall deliver only their own souls by their righteousness." ²¹ For thus says the Lord GOD; "How much more when I send My four sore judgments on Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off man and beast from it?

⁴ "I will also stretch out My hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests; ⁵ and those that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and those that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham; ⁶ and those that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor inquired for Him."

⁷ Should not all of you hear the words which the LORD has cried out by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and also its cities all around her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?' "

¹¹ But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. ¹² Yes, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts has sent in His Spirit by the former prophets: Therefore a great wrath came from the LORD of hosts. ¹³ Therefore it has come to pass, that as He cried out, and they would not hear; so they cried out, and I would not hear", says the LORD of hosts:

³⁴ Now when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the vinedressers, that they might receive the fruit of it. ³⁵ But the vinedressers took his servants, and beat one, killed another, and stoned yet another. ³⁶ Again, he sent other servants more than the first: And they did likewise to them. ³⁷ But last of all he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will reverence my son.' ³⁸ But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.' ³⁹ And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. ⁴⁰ Therefore when the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vinedressers? ⁴¹ They said to Him, "He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will lease out his vineyard to other vinedressers, which shall give him the fruits in their seasons." ⁴² Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures: 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner: This is the LORD'S doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'? ⁴³ Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it.

³ and sent forth his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding: And they would not come.

⁷ But when the king heard about it, he was wroth: And he sent forth his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

¹¹ He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
