¹⁹ Do they provoke Me to anger?" said the LORD: "do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?" ²⁰ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "Behold, My anger and My fury shall be poured out on this place, upon man, and upon beast, and on the trees of the field, and on the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched."

²⁵ This is your lot, the portion of your measures from Me", said the LORD; "because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.

⁸ O Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against You.

³¹ Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are the children of those who killed the prophets. ³² Fill up then the measure of your fathers. ³³ You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell? ³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes: And some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to always fill up their sins: For the wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.
