¹ Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do those that know him not see his days? ² Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed of it. ³ They drive away the donkey of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge. ⁴ They turn the needy out of the way: The poor of the earth hide themselves together. ⁵ Behold, as wild donkeys in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: The wilderness yields food for them and for their children. ⁶ They reap every one his grain in the field: And they gather the vintage of the wicked. ⁷ They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold. ⁸ They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter. ⁹ They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor. ¹⁰ They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry; ¹¹ which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst. ¹² Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded cries out: Yet God lays not folly to them. ¹³ They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not its ways, nor abide in its paths. ¹⁴ The murderer rising with the light kills the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief. ¹⁵ The eye also of the adulterer waits for the twilight, saying, "No eye shall see me: And disguises his face. ¹⁶ In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: They know not the light. ¹⁷ For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: If one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death. ¹⁸ He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: He beholds not the way of the vineyards. ¹⁹ Drought and heat consume the snow waters: So does the grave those which have sinned. ²⁰ The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree. ²¹ He evil entreats the barren that bears not: And does not good to the widow. ²² He draws also the mighty with his power: He rises up, and no man is sure of life. ²³ Though it be given him to be in safety, on which he rests; yet his eyes are on their ways. ²⁴ They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of grain. ²⁵ And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?

⁴ For in seven more days, I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made I will destroy from off the face of the earth.

¹⁷ And the LORD said, "Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I am doing;

²⁰ And the LORD said, "Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; ²¹ I will go down now, and see whether they have without exception done according to the cry of it, which has come to Me; and if not, I will know."

¹⁰ And those that know Your name will put their trust in You: For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

¹⁵ My times are in Your hand: Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those that persecute me.

¹⁰ O continue Your lovingkindness to those that know You; and Your righteousness to the upright in heart.

¹⁶ When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; ¹⁷ until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end. ¹⁸ Surely you have set them in slippery places: You cast them down into destruction. ¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

¹⁷ I said in my heart, "God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: For there is a time for every purpose and for every work."

⁶ Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great on him. ⁷ For he does not know that which shall be: For who can tell him when it shall be?

¹¹ I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all. ¹² For man also does not know his time: As the fish that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it suddenly falls on them.

¹² For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be on everyone that is proud and lofty, and on everyone that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

²² A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in its time."

¹ Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead with You: Yet let me talk with You about your judgments: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are they all happy who deal very treacherously? ² You have planted them, yes, they have taken root: They grow, yes, they bring forth fruit: You are near in their mouth, and far from their mind. ³ But You, O LORD, know me: You have seen me, and tried my heart toward You: Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.

¹⁰ For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that He may avenge Him of his adversaries: And the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: For the Lord GOD of hosts has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

²¹ And He changes the times and the seasons: He removes kings, and sets up kings: He gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those that know understanding:

³⁸ For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,

²² Because these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. ²³ But woe to those who are with child, and to those who breastfeed in those days! For there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. ²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: And Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

³ And this is life eternal, that they might know You the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

⁷ And He said to them, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put under His own power.

²⁶ and He has made from one blood all nations of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined the pre-appointed times, and the bounds of their habitation;

⁵ But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you treasure up for yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

¹ But pertaining to the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I write to you.

¹ Now the Spirit expressly speaks, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

¹⁵ Which in His times He shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

³ And through covetousness they shall make merchandise of you with feigned words: Whose judgment will now not linger for a long time, and their damnation does not slumber.

⁷ But the heavens and the earth, which are now kept in store by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. ⁸ But, beloved, do not be ignorant of this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

¹⁴ You shall not remove your neighbor's landmark, which they of old time have set in your inheritance, which you shall inherit in the land that the LORD your God gives you to possess it.

¹⁷ Cursed be he that removes his neighbor's landmark. And all the people shall say, "Amen.

¹⁵ And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yes, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell you.

¹⁷ While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, "The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell on the camels, and have carried them away, yes, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell you.

⁵ Whose harvest the hungry eats up, and takes it even out of the thorns, and the robber swallows up their substance.

²⁸ Do not remove the ancient landmark, which your fathers have set.

¹⁰ Do not remove the old landmark; and do not enter into the fields of the fatherless:

¹⁰ The princes of Judah were like those that remove the boundary line monuments: Therefore I will pour out My wrath upon them like water.

⁶ No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: For he takes a man's life to pledge.

¹⁰ When you do lend your brother anything, you shall not go into his house to fetch his pledge. ¹¹ You shall stand abroad, and the man to whom you do lend shall bring out the pledge abroad to you. ¹² And if the man be poor, you shall not sleep with his pledge: ¹³ In any case you shall deliver him the pledge again when the sun goes down, that he may sleep in his own clothing, and bless you: And it shall be righteousness to you before the LORD your God.

¹⁷ You shall not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's clothing to pledge: ¹⁸ But you shall remember that you were a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you there: Therefore I command you to do this thing. ¹⁹ When you cut down your harvest in your field, and have forgot a sheaf in the field, you shall not go again to fetch it: It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: That the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. ²⁰ When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again: It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. ²¹ When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it afterward: It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

³ Behold, here I am: Witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: Whose ox have I taken? Or whose donkey have I taken? Or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Or from whose hand have I received any bribe to blind my eyes with it? And I will restore it to you.

⁶ For you have taken a pledge from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing. ⁷ You have not given water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry. ⁸ But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honorable man dwelled in it. ⁹ You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

¹⁶ If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail; ¹⁷ or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it;

¹⁴ The murderer rising with the light kills the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.

¹² Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.

²⁵ Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? Was not my soul grieved for the poor?

¹⁶ If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Blessed is he that considers the poor: The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

¹⁶ Because he did not remember to show mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.

¹⁶ He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he that gives to the rich, shall surely come to want.

¹² When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: But when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

²⁸ When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: But when they perish, the righteous increase.

¹⁴ There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

² to turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

¹² has oppressed the poor and needy, has spoiled by violence, has not restored the pledge, and has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination,

¹⁸ As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.

²⁹ The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: Yes, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.

⁷ that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: And a man and his father will go in to the same maid, to profane My holy name:

⁴ Hear this, O you that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail, ⁵ saying, "When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? And the Sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?new moon; or, month ⁶ That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yes, and sell the refuse of the wheat?"

¹ Woe to those that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! When the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. ² And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: So they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.oppress; or, defraud

⁴ Behold, the wages of the laborers who have harvested your fields, which you partially kept back by fraud, cries out: And the cries of those which have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. ⁵ You have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; you have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. ⁶ You have condemned and killed the just; and he does not resist you.

¹² And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brothers."

⁴⁰ and you shall live by your sword, and shall serve your brother; and it shall come to pass when you shall have the dominion, that you shall break his yoke from off your neck."

⁶ The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and those that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God brings abundantly.

⁵ Who has sent out the wild donkey free? Or who has loosed the bands of the wild ass? ⁶ Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings. ⁷ He scorns the multitude of the city, neither regards he the crying of the driver.

²³ Man goes out to his work, and to his labor until the evening.

¹⁶ For they do not sleep, except if they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

²⁴ A wild donkey used to the wilderness, that snuffs up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? All those that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.

⁶ For they have made their heart ready like an oven, while they lie in wait: Their baker sleeps all through the night; in the morning it burns as a flaming fire.

⁹ For they have gone up to Assyria, a wild donkey alone by himself: Ephraim has hired lovers.

⁵¹ And he shall eat the fruit of your domestic beasts, and the fruit of your land, until you be destroyed: Which also shall not leave you either grain, wine, or oil, or the increase of your cows, or flocks of your sheep, until he have destroyed you.

³ And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them; ⁴ and they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till you come to Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor donkey. ⁵ For they came up with their domestic beasts and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: And they entered into the land to destroy it. ⁶ And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried out to the LORD.

¹⁵ You shall sow, but you shall not reap; you shall tread the olives, but you shall not anoint yourself with oil; and tread sweet wine, but shall not drink wine.

⁴⁰ Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from my eyes.

⁷ Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you do not hide yourself from your own flesh?

³¹ Then the churches had rest throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, were multiplied.

² I sleep, but my heart wakes: It is the voice of my beloved that knocks, saying, "Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: For my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night."

⁵ Those that did feed delicately are desolate in the streets: Those that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.

³⁸ (of whom the world was not worthy): They wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

¹ Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets to Elisha, saying, "Your servant my husband is dead; and you know that your servant did fear the LORD: And the creditor is come to take to him my two sons to be servants.

⁵ Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children as their children: And, see, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought to bondage already: Neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

¹¹ Therefore, as much as your treading is upon the poor, and you take burdens of wheat from him: You have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink wine from them. ¹² For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: They afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their rights.

⁴ You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain.

¹³ Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; who uses his neighbor's service without wages, and gives him nothing for his work;

²³ If the whip slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.

⁵ "For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, I will now arise", says the LORD; "I will set him in safety from he that puffs at him."puffs at him; or, would ensnare him

²¹ You have done these things, and I kept silence; you thought that I was altogether such a one as yourself: But I will reprove you, and set them in order before your eyes.

²⁶ For they persecute him whom You have smitten; and they speak to the grief of those whom You have wounded.

²² For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

¹ So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: And behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.

¹¹ Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. ¹² Though a sinner do evil a hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet I know surely that it shall be well with those who fear God, which fear before Him:

⁵ Now therefore, what have I here", says the LORD, "That My people are taken away for nothing? Those who rule over them make them howl", said the LORD; "and My name is blasphemed continually every day.

¹⁷ You all have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet all you say, "In what have we wearied Him?" When you all say, "Everyone that does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He delights in them"; or, "Where is the God of judgment?"

¹⁵ And now we call the proud happy; yes, those that work wickedness are established; yes, those that tempt God are even delivered.' "

⁴ Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? ⁵ But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you treasure up for yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

¹⁵ And count the longsuffering of our Lord to be salvation; even as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you;

¹¹ My foot has held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. ¹² Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is as darkness: They know not at what they stumble.

⁴⁷ And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and did not prepare himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. ⁴⁸ But he that did not know, and committed things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with a few stripes. For to whomever much is given, from him much shall be required: And to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask all the more.

¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

³¹ Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed on Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are My disciples indeed;

⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: For he is a liar, and the father of it.

³⁹ And Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, that those which do not see might see; and that those which see might be made blind." ⁴⁰ Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, "Are we blind also?" ⁴¹ Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you should have no sin: But now you say, 'We see'; therefore your sin remains."

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness come upon you: For he who walks in darkness does not know where he goes.

⁴⁰ "He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them."

⁶ If a man does not abide in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin: But now they have no cloke for their sin. ²³ He that hates Me hates My Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other man did, they would not have had sin: But now they have both seen and hated both Me and My Father.

³² Who knowing the judgment of God, that those who commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in those that do them.

¹⁷ Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest in the law, and make your boast in God, ¹⁸ and know His will, and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; ¹⁹ and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, ²⁰ an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which have the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. ²¹ You therefore which teaches another, do you not teach yourself? You that preach a man should not steal, do you steal? ²² You who say, "A man should not commit adultery", do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you commit sacrilege? ²³ You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law? ²⁴ For "The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you", as it is written.

¹¹ There is none that understands; there is none that seeks after God. ¹² They have all gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one." ¹³ "Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have used deceit"; "the poison of asps is under their lips": ¹⁴ "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness": ¹⁵ "Their feet are swift to shed blood: ¹⁶ Destruction and misery are in their ways: ¹⁷ And they have not known the way of peace":

¹⁰ and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in those that perish; because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this reason God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: ¹² That they all might be damned who did not believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

¹⁷ Therefore, to him that knows to do good, and does not do it, to him it is sin.

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them, and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. ²¹ For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, "The dog returned to his own vomit again"; and, "the hog that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: But they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

⁶ And the angels which did not keep their first estate, but left their own habitation, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

¹⁴ And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah. ¹⁵ And he wrote in the letter, saying, "Set you Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire you from him, that he may be smitten, and die. ¹⁶ And it came to pass, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah to a place where he knew that valiant men were. ¹⁷ And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: And there fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.

⁸ He sits in the lurking places of the villages: In the secret places he murders the innocent: His eyes are privately set against the poor. ⁹ He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den: He lies in wait to catch the poor: He does catch the poor, when he draws him into his net. ¹⁰ He crouches, and humbles himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.

³⁹ Moreover know this, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have let his house be broken through.

⁷ Therefore do not be partakers with them. ⁸ For you were sometimes darkness, but now you are light in the Lord: Walk as children of light: ⁹ (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth); ¹⁰ proving what is acceptable to the Lord. ¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

² For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night.

³ Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and hold firmly fixed, and repent. If therefore you shall not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you shall not know what hour I will come upon you.

¹⁴ And she put her widow's garments off from her, and covered herself with a veil, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the roadway to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she had not been given to him to wife. ¹⁵ When Judah saw her, he thought she was a harlot; because she had covered her face.

¹⁴ You shall not commit adultery.

⁴ And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: And she returned to her house. ⁵ And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, "I am with child. ⁶ And David sent to Joab, saying, "Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David. ⁷ And when Uriah had come to him, David demanded of him how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war prospered. ⁸ And David said to Uriah, "Go down to your house, and wash your feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king. ⁹ But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and not went down to his house. ¹⁰ And when they had told David, saying, "Uriah not went down to his house, David said to Uriah, "Came you not from your journey? Why then did you not go down to your house? ¹¹ And Uriah said to David, "The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into my house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing. ¹² And David said to Uriah, "Tarry here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart. So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day, and the next day. ¹³ And when David had called him, he ate and drink before him; and he made him drunk: And at sunset he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but not went down to his house.

¹² For you did it secretly: But I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.

¹³ And you say, "How does God know? Can he judge through the dark cloud? ¹⁴ Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he sees not; and he walks in the circuit of heaven.

¹¹ He has said in his heart, "God has forgotten: He hides His face; He will never see it."

¹⁸ When you saw a thief, then you consented with him, and have been partaker with adulterers.

¹¹ And they say, "How does God know? And is there knowledge in the most High?"

⁷ Yet they say, "The LORD shall not see, nor shall the God of Jacob regard it."

³² But whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: He that does it destroys his own soul. ³³ He shall get a wound and dishonor; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. ³⁴ For jealousy is the rage of a man: Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. ³⁵ He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.

⁹ in the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night: ¹⁰ And behold, there met him a woman with the attire of a harlot, and subtle of heart.

¹² Then He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? For they say, 'the LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the earth.' "

⁹ Then said He to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: For they say, 'The LORD has forsaken the earth, and the LORD does not see.'

² If a thief is found breaking in, and is smitten such that he dies, there shall be no blood shed for him. ³ If the sun is risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

¹³ They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not its ways, nor abide in its paths.

¹² Have you commanded the morning since your days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; ¹³ that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

⁵ Dig through the wall in their sight, and carry out through it. ⁶ You shall bear it on your shoulders in their sight, and carry it forth in the twilight: You shall cover your face, that you do not see the ground: For I have set you for a sign to the house of Israel." ⁷ And I did so as I was commanded: I brought forth my stuff by day, as stuff for captivity, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my hand; I brought it forth in the twilight, and I bore it on my shoulder in their sight.

¹² And the prince who is among them shall bear on his shoulder in the twilight, and shall go forth: They shall dig through the wall to carry out through it: He shall cover his face, that he does not see the ground with his eyes.

¹⁹ Do not store up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupts, and where thieves break in and steal:

⁴³ Moreover know this, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have let his house be broken through.

²⁰ For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. ¹² For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. ¹³ But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: For whatever makes manifest is light.

⁵ Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell on it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

²⁶ As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets.

¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to what he has done, whether it is good or bad. ¹¹ Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest to God; and I also trust are made manifest in your consciences.

¹⁶ and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: ¹⁷ For the great day of His wrath has come; and who shall be able to stand?"

¹⁶ Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the field. ¹⁷ Cursed shall be your basket and your store. ¹⁸ Cursed shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your land, the increase of your cows, and the flocks of your sheep. ¹⁹ Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out. ²⁰ The LORD shall send on you cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that you set your hand to for to do, until you be destroyed, and until you perish quickly; because of the wickedness of your doings, by which you have forsaken me.

²⁶ They are passed away as the swift ships: As the eagle that hastens to the prey.

¹⁶ Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflowed with a flood:

⁷ Let them melt away as waters which run continually: When he bends his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.

²² Let their table become a snare before them: And that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.

¹⁸ Surely you have set them in slippery places: You cast them down into destruction. ¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. ²⁰ As a dream when one awakes; so, O Lord, when You awake, you shall despise their image.

³³ The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: But He blesses the habitation of the just.

¹⁰ Pass through your land as a river, O daughter of Tarshish: There is no more strength.

² If you all will not hear, and if you all will not lay it to heart, to give glory to My name", says the LORD of hosts, "I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: Yes, I have cursed them already, because you all do not lay it to heart.

¹⁵ My brothers have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away; ¹⁶ which are blackish by reason of the ice, and in which the snow is hid: ¹⁷ What time they wax warm, they vanish: When it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.

¹³ They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

²³ One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

³² Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb. ³³ The clods of the valley shall be sweet to him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him. ³⁴ How then comfort you me in vain, seeing in your answers there remains falsehood?

¹⁴ Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.

⁸ As a snail which melts, let every one of them pass away: Like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun. ⁹ Before your pots can feel the burning thorn branches, He shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in His wrath.

² As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: As wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

³² The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: But the righteous has hope in his death.

⁴ For to him who is joined to all the living there is hope: For a living dog is better than a dead lion. ⁵ For the living know that they shall die: But the dead do not know anything, neither do they have any more reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. ⁶ Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, have now perished; neither do they have a portion anymore in anything that is done under the sun forever.

²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: Then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?'

²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: The rich man also died, and was buried;

⁷ For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch of it will not cease. ⁸ Though its root wax old in the earth, and its stock die in the ground; ⁹ yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant. ¹⁰ But man dies, and wastes away: Yes, man gives up the ghost, and where is he?

¹⁴ I have said to corruption, You are my father: To the worm, You are my mother, and my sister.

¹⁶ His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off. ¹⁷ His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.

²⁶ And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

⁷ The memory of the just is blessed: But the name of the wicked shall rot.

¹⁰ And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: This also is vanity.

¹⁴ They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: Therefore You have visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.

¹⁴ he cried aloud, and said thus, 'Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: Let the beasts get away from under it, and the birds from his branches:

¹⁰ And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees: Therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewed down, and cast into the fire.

⁶ And her foe also provoked her grievously, in order to frustrate her because the LORD had shut up her womb. ⁷ And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her. And she wept and did not eat.

⁹ You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

³ They drive away the donkey of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.

¹³ The blessing of him that was ready to perish came on me: And I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

¹⁶ If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail; ¹⁷ or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it; ¹⁸ (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother's womb);

⁸ And Haman said to king Ahasuerus, "There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither do they keep the king's laws: Therefore it is not for the king's profit to endure them. ⁹ If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: And I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries." ¹⁰ And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it to Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.

⁴ Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no occasion nor fault; because he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. ⁵ Then these men said, "We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except if we find it against him concerning the law of his God." ⁶ Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus to him, "king Darius, live forever. ⁷ All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counselors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, except of you, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. ⁸ Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter." ⁹ Therefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

¹² And from that time Pilate sought to release Him: But the Jews cried out, saying, "If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar's friend: Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar." ¹³ When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called The Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. ¹⁴ Moreover it was the Preparation of the Passover, and about the sixth hour: And he said to the Jews, "Behold your King!" ¹⁵ But they cried out, "Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him." Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar." ¹⁶ Then he therefore delivered Him to them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led Him away.

¹³ And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. ¹⁴ For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

² With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication."

¹¹ For he knows vain men: He sees wickedness also; will he not then consider it?

¹³ Why does the wicked scorn God? He has said in his heart, "You will not require it." ¹⁴ You have seen it; for You behold mischief and spite, to recompense it with Your hand: The poor commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.

⁴ The LORD is in His holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: His eyes behold and His eyelids examine the children of men. ⁵ The LORD proves the righteous through testing: But His soul hates the wicked and him that loves violence.

³ For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. ⁴ For there are no chains in their death: But their strength is firm. ⁵ They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. ⁶ Therefore pride compasses them about as a chain; violence covers them as a garment. ⁷ Their eyes stand out with fatness: They have more than heart could wish. ⁸ They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: They speak loftily. ⁹ They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walks through the earth. ¹⁰ Therefore his people return here: And waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. ¹¹ And they say, "How does God know? And is there knowledge in the most High?" ¹² Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

²¹ For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He ponders all his goings.

³ The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

²¹ If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink: ²² For you shall heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward you. ²³ The north wind drives away rain: So does an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.

⁸ If you see the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, do not marvel at the matter: For he who is higher than the highest observes; and there be higher than they.

¹¹ Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

⁸ For he said, "Are not my princes altogether kings?" ⁹ Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus? ¹⁰ As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria; ¹¹ shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, do so to Jerusalem and her idols?

¹² "Come all of you", they say, "I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be like today, and much more abundant."

⁷ The LORD has sworn by the excellency of Jacob, "Surely I will never forget any of their works.

² Though they dig into hell, there My hand shall take them; though they climb up to heaven, there I will bring them down:

¹³ You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on iniquity: Why do You look upon those that deal treacherously, and hold Your tongue when the wicked devours the man that is more righteous than he?

¹⁶ Moreover He spoke a parable to them, saying, "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: ¹⁷ And he thought within himself, saying, 'What shall I do, because I have no room where to stow my fruits?' ¹⁸ So he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there I will stow all my fruits and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have a great many goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry." ' ²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: Then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?'

⁴⁵ But then, if that servant says in his heart, 'My lord delays his coming'; and begins to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and be drunk;

³ For when they shall say, "Peace and safety"; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am He which searches the inner reins and hearts: And I will give to every one of you according to your works.

²² Those that hate you shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nothing.

²¹ His sons come to honor, and he knows it not; and they are brought low, but he perceives it not of them.

⁵ that the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

¹⁰ For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: Yes, you shall diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

³⁵ I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. ³⁶ Yet he passed away, and see, he was not there: Yes, I sought him, but he could not be found.

¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

⁷ When the wicked spring up as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed forever:

⁵ And it shall be as when the harvestman gathers the grain, and reaps the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he who gathers ears in the valley of Rephaim. ⁶ Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches of it", said the LORD God of Israel.

¹¹ For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, then it withers the grass, and the flower thereof falls, and the grace of its fashion perishes: So also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

¹ Go now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your clothes are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver are cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as if it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days.

¹⁴ Then I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud One sat like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. ¹⁵ And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him that sat on the cloud, "Thrust in Your sickle, and reap: For the time has come for You to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe." ¹⁶ Then He that sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. ¹⁷ Then another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. ¹⁸ And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried out with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, "Thrust in your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe." ¹⁹ Then the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the large winepress of the wrath of God. ²⁰ And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even up to the horse bridles, for the distance of one thousand and six hundred furlongs.1600 furlongs is approximately 200 miles or 322 kilometers.

²⁸ Now therefore be content, look on me; for it is evident to you if I lie.

²⁴ The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: He covers the faces of its judges; if not, where, and who is he?

² should not the multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be justified? ³ Should your lies make men hold their peace? And when you mock, shall no man make you ashamed?

² should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?

⁴ my lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
