¹ Moreover Job continued his parable, and said, ² oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me; ³ when his candle shined on my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness; ⁴ as I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was on my tabernacle; ⁵ when the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me; ⁶ when I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil; ⁷ when I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street! ⁸ The young men saw me, and hid themselves: And the aged arose, and stood up. ⁹ The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth. ¹⁰ The nobles held their peace, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth. ¹¹ When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me: ¹² Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. ¹³ The blessing of him that was ready to perish came on me: And I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy. ¹⁴ I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: My judgment was as a robe and a diadem. ¹⁵ I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame. ¹⁶ I was a father to the poor: And the cause which I did not know I searched out. ¹⁷ And I broke the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth. ¹⁸ Then I said, "I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand. ¹⁹ My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night on my branch. ²⁰ My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand. ²¹ To me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel. ²² After my words they spoke not again; and my speech dropped on them. ²³ And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain. ²⁴ If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down. ²⁵ I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelled as a king in the army, as one that comforts the mourners.

⁷ And he took up his parable, and said, "Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, "Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.

¹² Your remembrances are like to ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.

¹ Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. ² And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters. ³ His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she-donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east. ⁴ And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. ⁵ And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

¹⁰ Have not you made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

³ So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.

²⁸ For the LORD loves judgment, and does not forsake His saints; they are preserved forever: But the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

²⁸ And it shall come to pass, that as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so I will watch over them, to build, and to plant", said the LORD."

¹ Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:

¹⁷ And your age shall be clearer than the noonday: You shall shine forth, you shall be as the morning.

⁶ The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.

¹⁷ How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! And how oft comes their destruction on them! God distributes sorrows in his anger.

²⁸ You shall also decree a thing, and it shall be established to you: And the light shall shine on your ways.

⁶ There are many that say, "Who will show us any good?" LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.

²⁸ For You will light my candle: The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

⁴ Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.

¹ A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield: The LORD will give grace and glory: He will not withhold any good thing from those that walk uprightly.

⁹ The light of the righteous rejoices: But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

²⁰ Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

²⁰ For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

⁴ And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks: Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

¹² Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world: He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

⁴⁶ I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes upon Me should not abide in darkness.

⁸ For you were sometimes darkness, but now you are light in the Lord: Walk as children of light:

¹⁴ Therefore He says: "Awake, you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light."

⁸ Have you heard the secret of God? And do you restrain wisdom to yourself?

¹⁴ The secret of the LORD is with those that fear Him; and He will show them His covenant.

⁵ For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: In the secret of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me upon a rock.

¹ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

³² For the froward is abomination to the LORD: But His secret is with the righteous.

³ For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

²⁷ The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: And he shall thrust out the enemy from before you; and shall say, "Destroy them. ²⁸ Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: The fountain of Jacob shall be on a land of grain and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew. ²⁹ Happy are you, O Israel: Who is like to you, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help, and who is the sword of your excellency! And your enemies shall be found liars to you; and you shall tread on their high places.

⁹ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be you dismayed: For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

¹² And the angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, "The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor. ¹³ And Gideon said to him, "Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? And where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, "Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? But now the LORD has forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

³ Oh that I knew where I might find him! That I might come even to his seat!

⁸ Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: ⁹ On the left hand side, where he does work, but I cannot behold him: He hides himself on the right hand side, that I cannot see him: ¹⁰ But he knows the way that I take: When he has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

¹³ He had also seven sons and three daughters. ¹⁴ And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch. ¹⁵ And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: And their father gave them inheritance among their brothers. ¹⁶ After this lived Job a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.

⁷ LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong: You hid Your face, and I was troubled.

² For You are the God of my strength: Why do you cast me off? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

⁸ In God we boast all the day long, and praise Your name forever. Selah. ⁹ But You have cast off, and put us to shame; and do not go forth with our armies.

³ Lo, children are a heritage of the LORD: And the fruit of the womb is his reward. ⁴ As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. ⁵ Happy is the man that has his quiver full of them: They shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

³ Your wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of your house: Your children like olive plants all around your table.

⁶ Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

⁴ He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.

¹ By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loves: I sought him, but I did not find him. ² I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loves: I sought him, but I did not find him.

⁸ O the Hope of Israel, his Savior in time of trouble, why should You be as a stranger in the land, and like a wayfaring man that turns aside to tarry for a night?

¹⁵ And Jesus said to them, "Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then they shall fast.

¹¹ Binding His foal to the vine, and His donkey's colt to the choice vine; He washed His garments in wine, and His clothes in the blood of grapes:

¹³ He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock; ¹⁴ butter of cows, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and you did drink the pure blood of the grape.

²⁴ And of Asher he said, "Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brothers, and let him dip his foot in oil.

¹⁷ He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.

¹⁶ He would have also fed them with the finest of the wheat: And with honey out of the rock I would have satisfied them."

¹⁸ Judges and officers shall you make you in all your gates, which the LORD your God gives you, throughout your tribes: And they shall judge the people with just judgment.

¹⁹ Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out to the elders of his city, and to the gate of his place;

¹ Then Boaz went up to the gate, and sat down there: And behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by; to whom he said, "Whoa, such a one! Turn aside, sit down here." And he turned aside, and sat down. ² And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, "Sit yourself down here." And they sat down.

¹¹ And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, "We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman who has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, for these two built the house of Israel: And may you do worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:

²¹ if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:

¹⁶ These are the things that you all shall do; Speak the truth, every man, to his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:

³² You shall rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face of the old man, and fear your God: I am the LORD.

³¹ The whitish head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.

⁸ A king that sits in the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes.

³ For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Do you then desire not to be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and you shall have praise from the same: ⁴ For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain: For he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil.

⁷ Render therefore to all their dues: Tribute to whom tribute is due; customs to whom customs; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

¹ Remind them to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready for every good work,

¹⁷ Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

⁵ Likewise you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility: For "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

¹⁹ And they said to him, "Hold your peace, lay your hand upon your mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: Is it better for you to be a priest to the house of one man, or that you be a priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?

² if we assay to commune with you, will you be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking?

¹¹ Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

⁵ Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.

⁴ behold, I am vile; what shall I answer you? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.

¹⁹ In the multitude of words sin is not lacking: But he that refrains his lips is wise.

³² If you have done foolishly in lifting up yourself, or if you have thought evil, lay your hand upon your mouth.

¹⁹ Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

⁶ If I do not remember you, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I do not prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy.

²⁶ And I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth, that you shall be dumb, and shall not be to them a reprover: For they are a rebellious house.

²⁰ if his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;

² When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: But when the wicked bears rule, the people mourn.

²² Therefore all bore Him witness, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?"

²⁷ And it came to pass, as He spoke these things, a certain woman from the multitude lifted up her voice, and said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the nipples which You have sucked."

²² You shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. ²³ If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry; ²⁴ and My wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

¹⁸ He does execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loves the stranger, in giving him food and clothing.

² For there were that said, "We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: Therefore we take up grain for them, that we may eat, and live. ³ Some also there were that said, "We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy grain, because of the dearth. ⁴ There were also that said, "We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that on our lands and vineyards. ⁵ Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children as their children: And, see, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought to bondage already: Neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards. ⁶ And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words. ⁷ Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said to them, "You exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them. ⁸ And I said to them, "We after our ability have redeemed our brothers the Jews, which were sold to the heathen; and will you even sell your brothers? Or shall they be sold to us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer. ⁹ Also I said, "It is not good that you do: Ought you not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies? ¹⁰ I likewise, and my brothers, and my servants, might exact of them money and grain: I implore you, let us leave off this usury. ¹¹ Restore, I implore you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the grain, the wine, and the oil, that you exact of them. ¹² Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as you say. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise. ¹³ Also I shook my lap, and said, "So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, that performs not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, "Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.

⁵ Is not your wickedness great? And your iniquities infinite? ⁶ For you have taken a pledge from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing. ⁷ You have not given water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry. ⁸ But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honorable man dwelled in it. ⁹ You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

⁴ They turn the needy out of the way: The poor of the earth hide themselves together.

¹⁷ or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it;

⁵ A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation.

¹² For He shall deliver the needy when he cries; the poor also, and him that has no helper.

² How long will you judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. ³ Defend the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and needy. ⁴ Deliver the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

¹³ Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

¹¹ If you forbear to deliver those that are drawn to death, and those that are ready to be slain; ¹² if you say, "Behold, we did not know it"; does He that ponders the heart not consider it? And He that keeps your soul, does He not know it? And shall He not render to every man according to his works?

¹⁶ He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: Was not this known to me?" said the LORD.

²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

¹¹ And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite that is within your gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD your God has chosen to place his name there.

¹³ In any case you shall deliver him the pledge again when the sun goes down, that he may sleep in his own clothing, and bless you: And it shall be righteousness to you before the LORD your God.

⁵ And you shall speak and say before the LORD your God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous:

¹⁰ Then he said to them, "Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions to them for whom nothing is prepared: For this day is holy to our LORD: Neither be you sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. ¹¹ So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, "Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be you grieved. ¹² And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.

⁹ You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

¹⁹ If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering; ²⁰ if his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;

⁴ O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: For You shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.

⁶ Give strong drink to him that is ready to perish, and wine to those that are of heavy hearts. ⁷ Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more. ⁸ Open your mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. ⁹ Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

¹³ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.

¹⁴ Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart, but you shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.

³⁹ Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper chamber: And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. ⁴⁰ But Peter put them all out, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning himself toward the body said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes: And when she saw Peter, she sat up. ⁴¹ Moreover he gave her his hand, lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

¹² For the administration of this service not only supplies the lack of the saints, but also is abundant through many thanksgivings to God; ¹³ While through the proof of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution to them, and to all men; ¹⁴ and by their prayer for you, who long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

¹⁶ The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: ¹⁷ But when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. ¹⁸ The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that day: And you know very well in how many things he ministered to me at Ephesus.

⁷ For we have great joy and consolation in your love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by you, brother.

⁶ My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.

⁹ Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness; and let Your saints shout for joy.

⁵ In that day the LORD of hosts shall be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, to the residue of His people,

¹⁷ For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on His head; and He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

³ You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

¹⁴ But you, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

⁷ by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girded around with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁸ And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: For the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

³¹ And he said, "Leave us not, I implore you; for as much as you know how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and you may be to us instead of eyes.

⁵ The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

¹² For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: So also is Christ. ¹³ For by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body, whether we are Jews or Gentiles, whether we are bond-servants or free; and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. ¹⁴ For the body is not one member, but many. ¹⁵ If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body"; is it therefore not of the body? ¹⁶ And if the ear should say, "Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body"; is it therefore not of the body? ¹⁷ If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? ¹⁸ But now God has set the members, every one of them, in the body, just as it has pleased him. ¹⁹ And if they were all one member, where would be the body? ²⁰ But now they are many members, yet still one body. ²¹ And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you": Nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." ²² No, far more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: ²³ And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our unpresentable parts have more abundant decency. ²⁴ For our presentable parts have no need: But God has tempered the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked: ²⁵ That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one toward another. ²⁶ And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. ²⁷ Now you are the body of Christ, and members distinctly. ²⁸ And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. ²⁹ Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? ³⁰ Do all have the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? ³¹ But earnestly desire the best gifts: And yet I show you a more excellent way.

²⁶ And they judged the people at all times: The hard causes they brought to Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.

¹⁴ then you shall inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is worked among you;

⁸ If there arise a matter too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within your gates: Then you shall arise, and get you up into the place which the LORD your God shall choose; ⁹ and you shall come to the priests the Levites, and to the judge that shall be in those days, and inquire; and they shall show you the sentence of judgment: ¹⁰ And you shall do according to the sentence, which they of that place which the LORD shall choose shall show you; and you shall observe to do according to all that they inform you:

¹⁶ Then came there two women, that were harlots, to the king, and stood before him. ¹⁷ And the one woman said, "O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house. ¹⁸ And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: And we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house. ¹⁹ And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it. ²⁰ And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while your handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom. ²¹ And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: But when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear. ²² And the other woman said, "No; but the living is my son, and the dead is your son. And this said, "No; but the dead is your son, and the living is my son. Thus they spoke before the king. ²³ Then said the king, The one said, "This is my son that lives, and your son is the dead: And the other said, "No; but your son is the dead, and my son is the living. ²⁴ And the king said, "Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king. ²⁵ And the king said, "Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. ²⁶ Then spoke the woman whose the living child was to the king, for her bowels yearned on her son, and she said, "O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, "Let it be neither my nor yours, but divide it. ²⁷ Then the king answered and said, "Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: She is its mother. ²⁸ And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: For they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

⁷ And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter: For she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.

¹⁸ (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother's womb);

² It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: But the honor of kings is to search out a matter.

⁷ The righteous considers the cause of the poor: But the wicked does not care to know it.

¹ You therefore be followers of God, as dear children;

³⁵ And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: And when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

⁷ Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: For You have smitten all my enemies upon the cheek bone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.

⁸ As a snail which melts, let every one of them pass away: Like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

³ Then they would have swallowed us up alive when their wrath was kindled against us;

⁶ Blessed be the LORD, Who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.

¹⁴ There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

¹² And You said, 'I will surely do you good, and make your seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.' "

⁴⁹ And Joseph gathered grain as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left off numbering; for it was without number.

²⁶ You shall come to your grave in a full age, like as a shock of grain comes in in his season.

¹⁶ After this lived Job a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations. ¹⁷ So Job died, being old and full of days.

⁶ And in my prosperity I said, "I shall never be moved." ⁷ LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong: You hid Your face, and I was troubled.

¹⁶ With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation."

²³ O inhabitant of Lebanon, who makes your nest in the cedars, how gracious shall you be when pangs come on you, the pain as of a woman in travail!

¹⁶ Your terribleness has deceived you, and the pride of your heart, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill: Though you should make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there", said the LORD.

⁴ Though you exalt yourself as the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, I will bring you down from there", says the LORD.

⁹ Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to establish his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!

¹⁶ His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.

³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

⁸ For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, and which spreads out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat comes, but her leaves shall be green; and shall not be anxious in the year of drought, nor shall cease from yielding fruit.

⁵ I will be as the dew to Israel: He shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon. ⁶ His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon. ⁷ Those that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the grain, and grow as the vine: its scent shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

¹³ And you shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that you have seen; and you shall make haste and bring my father down to this place."

²⁴ But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from there comes the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel):

⁹ He has stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

¹⁴ I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: My judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

³ But You, O LORD, are a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of my head.

³⁴ He teaches my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by my arms.

⁵ who satisfies your mouth with good things; so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

³¹ But those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

¹⁶ For which cause we do not faint; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

⁹ The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth. ¹⁰ The nobles held their peace, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth.

¹¹ Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst you searched out what to say. ¹² Yes, I attended to you, and behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:

² My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain on the tender herb, and as the showers on the grass:

¹⁵ They were amazed, they answered no more: They left off speaking. ¹⁶ When I had waited, (for they spoke not, but stood still, and answered no more);

³¹ Mark well, O Job, listen to me: Hold your peace, and I will speak. ³² If you have anything to say, "answer me: Speak, for I desire to justify you. ³³ If not, listen to me: Hold your peace, and I shall teach you wisdom.

¹¹ Your lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: Honey and milk are under your tongue; and the smell of your garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

¹⁵ So shall He sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at Him: For they shall see that which had not been told to them; and that which they had not heard they shall consider.

⁴⁶ "Son of man, set your face toward the south, and drop your word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field;

¹⁶ Now therefore hear the word of the LORD: You say, 'Do not prophesy against Israel, and do not drop your word against the house of Isaac.'

⁶ "Do not prophesy", they say to those that prophesy: They shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.

⁴⁶ And no man was able to answer Him a word, neither did any man ask Him any more questions from that day forward.

⁶ He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: As showers that water the earth.

³ Then we shall know, if we follow on pursuing to know the LORD: His going forth is prepared like the morning; and He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter and former rain to the earth.

¹ Ask rain of the LORD in the time of the latter rain, all of you; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to everyone grass in the field.

²⁶ and told him, saying, "Joseph is still alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt." And Jacob's heart fainted, for he did not believe them.

¹⁵ Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound; they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance.

¹ A Song of degrees. When the LORD turned back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream.

⁴¹ Moreover, while they did not yet believe out of joy, and wondered, He said to them, "Have you any food here?"

¹⁴ And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them to Dan. ¹⁵ And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them to Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. ¹⁶ And he brought back all the goods, and also brought back again his brother's son Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people. ¹⁷ And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's valley.

⁴⁰ You shall be over my house, and according to your word shall all my people be ruled: Only in the throne will I be greater than you."

⁵ And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people and the tribes of Israel were gathered together.

⁸ And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, "Therefore we turn again to you now, that you may go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

² Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, you were he that led out and brought in Israel: And the LORD said to you, You shall feed my people Israel, and you shall be a captain over Israel.

¹ And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader. ² And David said to all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good to you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad to our brothers everywhere, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves to us: ³ And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: For we inquired not at it in the days of Saul. ⁴ And all the congregation said that they would do so: For the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

³ His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she-donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

³ Behold, you have instructed many, and you have strengthened the weak hands. ⁴ Your words have upheld him that was falling, and you have strengthened the feeble knees.

³⁷ I would declare to him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near to him.

³ Strengthen the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. ⁴ Say to those that are of a fearful heart, "Be strong, fear not: Behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; He will come and save you."

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; ² to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; ³ to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified.

³ Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; ⁴ who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

⁵ For when we came into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; outside was fighting, within were fears. ⁶ Nevertheless God, that comforts those who are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus; ⁷ and not only by his coming, but by the consolation with which he was comforted in you, when he told us of your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind towards me; so that I rejoiced even more.

² and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow-laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith: ³ That no man should be moved by these afflictions: For you yourselves know that we are appointed to this.
