²⁰ I have sinned; what shall I do to you, O you preserver of men? Why have you set me as a mark against you, so that I am a burden to myself?

⁶ You, even you, are LORD alone; you have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are in it, the seas, and all that is in it, and you preserve them all; and the host of heaven worships you.

²⁴ For my sighing comes before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

⁴ For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinks up my spirit: The terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.

¹¹ Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul. ¹² Am I a sea, or a whale, that you set a watch over me?

²⁹ If I be wicked, why then labor I in vain? ³⁰ If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean; ³¹ yet shall you plunge me in the ditch, and my own clothes shall abhor me.

²⁶ For you write bitter things against me, and make me to possess the iniquities of my youth.

¹⁶ For now you number my steps: Do you not watch over my sin?

⁵ Is not your wickedness great? And your iniquities infinite?

³³ If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding my iniquity in my bosom:

⁹ I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.

²⁷ He looks on men, and if any say, "I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;

⁶ If you sin, what do you against him? Or if your transgressions be multiplied, what do you to him?

¹² Therefore You shall make them turn their back, when You shall make ready Your arrows upon Your strings against the face of them.

⁶ Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep: O LORD, You preserve man and beast.

⁴ O LORD God of hosts, how long will You be angry against the prayer of Your people?

¹² He has bent His bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
